Brush error?

Hi guys,
I'm using Illustrator CS5 and seem to have run into some problems using the brush tool. The example below is using the default 7pt round brush at a size of 0.01pt. The problem is that a) the width of the brush doesnt stay consistent, it looks more like calligraphy b) it fills in at the corners of round sections.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Select the path, then Effect>Distort & Transform>ZigZag, set Size to 0 and Number of ridges to 100 (which is the maximum).

Jpeg brush error with CS2

It seems LR 2.0 is writing something bad into the XMP file. When you use a brush, export as a jpg, you cannot save as a jpg in CS2. I believe this is a known issue.
I went into file_info, clicked on the advanced link, deleted everything out that I could and was then able to save out the jpg in PS CS2. Is there some way to stop it writing whatever it is putting into the file?

I just ran into this problem, too. I develop as TIFF, export and edit in CS2, then save. If I have used an adjustment brush in LR2, I can not then convert the CS2 TIFF to 8 bits and then save as a JPEG. I get the "Could not complete your request because of a program error." Two things:
1) if I do NOT use an adjustment brush in LR2, I can then convert and save an exported TIFF in CS2 as a JPEG.
2) if I use an adjustment brush in LR2, the only way I can convert and save an exported TIFF in CS2 is by deleting the camera raw EXIF field in CS2 under file info.
This has got to be considered a serious bug in LR2 and how it's working with EXIF headers as it renders normal CS2 conversion from TIFF (or PSD) to JPEG as useless.

Adjustment brush error Lightroom 4

So, I've been working on a photo using a number of adjustment brushes and now, all of a sudden, if I try to add another brush stroke in an adjustment I've already been working on, Lightroom reverts my image back to the default and removes all the brushes. If I CTRL+Z, the image and pins for my adjustment brushes return no problem. I have never experienced this before. I've tried deleting the preferences file and that didn't work. I can work on other photos no problem, but this one that I'm talking about, seems broken. I've put a lot of time into this image and don't want to start from scratch.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

A minor error in CS6

Create a new document.
Add a new layer (you should now have a file with 2 layers)
Choose Select>Deselect Layers
Click on the QuickMask
paint within the mask with brush
error:
"could not complete the Brush Tool command because of a program error."
workaround - keep a layer selected.

Photoshop CS2 brushes looking scratchy?

I have had this problem in CS2 and Elements 8. Out of nowhere, my brushes start looking scratchy. This isn't like the common "pixelated brush" error, where it switches between brush and pencil, this is something different. I'm extraordinarily frustrated with this. Thanks for your help.
Here's a picture of how the brushes look (view the full image and look around the edges of the strokes):

Usual first question is are you using the Pencil tool and not the brush, but you can't have soft pencil strokes, so I don't think that is it. Nor does it look like spacing, because that would produce bumpy strokes. In fact it looks like you have a small Chalk brush tip, but with size and angle jitter set.
Try resetting brushes, (I'm guessing that was the first thing you tried). Then try resetting Preferences.
If still having problems, have a good look at the Brush Presets panel. Pay particular attention to the Shape Dynamics, and Scattering options.
Another thought, what is is the brush blend mode set to? Dissolve might give those results. I used the Dissolve mode to produce this Photoshop visual gag some years ago:

That thread helped for a time. But now it seems as though my computer is back to slow again. But, some of the jargon is over my head as well. Could not use the spot healing brush because of an internal error!

Hi All. I have been trying out the Photoshop CC trial and all is well but all of a sudden I have been getting the "could not use the spot healing brush because of an internal error" message when I'm using the healing brush rapidly! I'm sending the tiff file from Capture One Pro 8 as a Tiff file so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Hi it does not crash but I looked in the Photoshop Crashes folder anyway and it was empty! The message flags up and then press OK to remove it.

PSE6 Error when using Brushes or doing "too much"

I get the error " Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Editor) has encountered a problem and needs to close" anytime I use the brush tool or if I try to do too many layers (I'm doing digital scrapbook pages) I'm running Windows XP SP3 and have 2.7 GHz processor and 3 GB of Ram. I recently added 2 GB of RAM when I thought the issue was memory related. I've reinstalled PSE but it still freezes and then errors out.I watch CPU in task manager when I'm in PSE but never go to more than 60% even when I force the error to occur.
One of the guys at work said he thought there was an issue with SP3 and older Adobe products. Can't tell you how long this has been going on (pre SP3?) since I only recently started using PSE for more than just simple photo editing. Hopefully, some expert here will be able to give me a solution. Thanks in advance.

You say you've reinstalled, but have you deleted the prefs? Reinstalling doesn't affect those. Quit the editor then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift. Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.
AFIAK there is no problem with SP3 and PSE 6.

Camera-raw brush-tool error

Camera-raw version 6.3.0.79 in CS5 problem. When using the brush tool to slightly darken or brighten a part of an image I get digital squares or bars. Usually 1 inch by several inch darken or lighter than the original. Files are CR2 from Canon 5D mark II's. If I edit the picture again the problem doesn't occur or occurs in a different spot. I work on a 6 month old 15" macbookpro, OS 10.7.4, 2.2GHz intel i7, 8GB ram. More than 100GB free space on the hard drive. Many thanks for thinking with me on this. Above an example, it happens more or less on 30% of the images I process.

I've actually tried to update camera-raw but run into another problem. When trying to open the downloaded dmg file I get an error message:
'ongeldig controlegetal' in Dutch which I believe is "checksum invalid" in English Mac OS
I got the same error when downloading Canon's DPP and the Adobe Application manager yesterday.
I'm trying to download Mac Os 10.7.5 right now. I live in a country with very slow internet (Afghanistan) and during downloading the internet fails from time to time not sure if this is related.

Error message opening CS2 brushes in CS6?

I make brushes that I sell and I have some freebies. I make the brushes on CS2 so that they will be compatible with more versions. I will now and again get a message from a client that says their brush doesn't work in CS6 or CC. I don't have any problems running my brushes in CC and most of my clients seem to have no problems, so what might occasionally give someone a problem using brushes that should be compatible? Note: I don't discount that it may be user errors - trying to load the pngs instead of the .abr, etc., but in case there is some other issue I'm not aware of. Thanks!

Since installing XP SP3 in addition to being unable to open Pagemaker 7 files in Indesign CS I now find I cannot open Indesign again if I close it. I have to reboot XP for a fresh start.
Also Illustrator CS opens only to present a box "Could not complete operation" and then closes. There are no problems then in opening it a second time, except it takes the usual significant time to start.
Are these symptoms of the same problem with SP3 and the Adobe software. It is disappointing to see people say neither Adobe or Redmond are at all interested.

Need Help! PS CS3 have Error when using custom brushes.

Hello Everyone,
First, please forgive my bad english!
My prpblem is, that Photoshop CS3 (Part of Adobe Premium Suite 3, Design Premium package) always crash when I using the brushes.
I can use any other tool and it works great. But at the moment I use a brush for two three strokes Photoshop have an Error.
What I did. Delete all Brushes, save new Brushes, just use original Brushes. create new Brushes, that all didn't work. PS crashes also after I did all that stuff.
Hopefully somebody can help me, its very frustrated. Because Im a concept artist and I only need PS for painting. PS have this problem by the way
from beginn on I installed the Premium Suite on my iMac.

What are your performance preferences?
Is the Brush tip extremely large?

As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

Elements uses drive space to make its calculations, like someone writing down measurements on a scrap of paper. How much free space is there on your hard drive?

Error installing new brushes CS5

Hi, im trying to instal new brushes, this used to work fine just 2 days ago, but now all of a sudden i get aplication crash errors, i have placed the the abr in the brush map but still nothing happens in PS itself.

My earlier advice still applies. Look up the crash logs.
Things that, in general, can make Photoshop unstable where it used to work:
3rd party plug-ins recently installed.
Drivers with bugs recently installed (e.g., a new display driver via Windows Update).
Bad fonts recently installed.

Using brush causes program error.

I have Photoshop CS (version 8.0) running on Windows XP Home (SP3). I searched the help files, FAQs, and the forums and didn't find anything related to this.
Today I opened a document I've been working on, created a new layer, picked a default 9 pixel hard round brush, and when I clicked on the canvas to paint I got "could not complete the task due to a program error" and right after this Photoshop shut down.
I ran my anti-virus, but the computer is clean. I then checked all the brushes in my Photoshop folder to see if there were any odd ones in there - there weren't. Then I closed PS and when I opened it again I held down Shift+Ctrl+Alt to reset the Prefs file. I created a new document and reset the brushes, then I tried once again to paint with a default brush. Again I received the same program error and PS shut down.
I uninstalled PS and reinstalled the program. I restarted my computer and opened PS and tried painting again - the same error, only this time PS didn't shut itself down.
I'm at a loss here. I know Photoshop can have some psychotic moments, but this is the first time I have encountered this weird behavior. If anyone can give me some suggestions on what might be happening and how to remedy it I would appreciate it.

But you didn't say you received the dialog asking you to confirm the reset. Just holding Shift+Ctrl+Alt isn't all that is required. If you didn't get the dialog, which happens quite often, then you did NOT reset the Prefs.
You may be knowledable enough to know the dialog is required, but unless you say so we have no way to know if the Prefs were really reset.
