Brush pop-up on wrong monitor CS5

PS5 12.0 x64 on Dual-Quad 2.93 Intel Xeon w/ 16GB RAM. MacOS 10.6.3
When using the control key to get my brush modifying pop-up window, said window will only show up on the monitor with the menu bar. If the menu bar is switched to the large primary monitor, it will only show up there. I need it to show up on which ever monitor the image is on, not just one or the other. It worked fine in CS4. Please chime in if you have the same problem. KUDOs to the PS team for clearing up a similar problem with the image not remembering which monitor to open on. That was fixed in CS5's update. Thank-you for your hard work.

Same here...

  • Dialog boxes pop up on wrong monitor

    I have my workspace spread out over two monitors, with a third preview screen on a TV. My timeline and preview monitors are on my center screen with the main title bar, considered the "main" screen by OSX. However, any time a dialog box pops up, it appears on my leftmost monitor. It's a pain, since the majority of my work takes place on the center screen, to constantly have to move back and forth between monitors to address any dialog boxes that pop up to adjust clip speed, export settings, watch preview render progress, cancel auto-saves, etc. Is there any way to change the default position of these dialog boxes? Moving them over when they appear doesn't seem to change anything.

    Thanks for the suggestion—it led me to the solution. It turns out the dialog boxes appear on whichever screen contains the "main" window box—that is, the window with the bar at the top that shows the directory path of the project you're working on. Rearranging my workspace so the window was on the main screen fixed the problem.

  • Pages always opens a new window on the wrong monitor

    Is there anyway to fix this I don't understand why always open on the wrong monitor I can't seem to open on the correct one

    OS X 10.8.4:
    Drag the window back to the correct monitor and position it where you want it to open. Make certain that you actively save and close your documents before quitting Pages.
    In System Preferences > General, check the box adjacent to Close windows when quitting an application.
    Your Shutdown, Restart, and Logout dialogs should have the “Reopen windows when logging back in” unchecked.
    If this does not correct the problem, select all contents (command+A) of the following folder only, and then use the right button to select the menu item, “Move to Trash.”
    /Users/yourlogin-name/Library/Caches/
    Also, drag the following file to the Trash as well:
    /Users/yourlogin-name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
    Empty the Trash. (You may have to reboot to fully empty the Trash.)
    The next time you launch Pages, the application window will open where you want it.

  • Black and gray box keeps popping up on my monitor and I cant get it to stay off

    Black and gray box pops up on my monitor. Cant move my mouse over it. Cant remove it. It just recently started doing this. I know it has to do with the settings on my monitor, but im not sure how to set it. When I tried, it would go off for a few minutes and then pop right back up. I want to try to set it so that it wont keep appearing. I would aappreciate any suggestions, as im not good at figuring out this sort of thing. Thanks, Mary

    Could you perhaps describe this "black and gray box" better?  Does it have any text?

    Eraser tool in Photoshop CS4 acts as if it is transparent when on brush or pencil mode. Block acts like its not transparent at all but there are no options for opacity, flow or brush size. Whats wrong and how to I make the brush and pencil eraser erase completely without having to go over it multiple times?
    It started randomly about two weeks ago and I thought it was a glitch that would just go away. But now I am getting sick of using only the block eraser on one size. Help?

    The easiest thing to start with is to reset the Eraser Tool.
    Right click on the Eraser icon in the tool options bar and then click on Reset Tool.

  • Wrong Monitor Profile used by PS CS5

    Running Windows 7 Professional, Photoshop CS5.
    I have a laptop and an external monitor, identified by Windows as Display 1 and Display 2, respectively. The latter is usually off, unless I'm going to do some photo editting, etc, so my Windows Display Settings normally say "Show desktop only on 1" - i.e. Laptop only.
    Firstly, it may be useful to point out that Windows Color Management identifies the monitors in reverse, showing laptop as Display 2 and external as Display 1.
    I do occasionally fire up PS while "Show desktop only on 1" (i.e. laptop only) is in effect, just to have a quick look at something, and under these conditions PS shows the external monitor's Default Profile as the Monitor RGB Profile. This is plainly wrong. I get the same problem with IrfanView when its Color Management is on - it also uses the external monitor's profile. IV author informs me that this is the profile name returned by Windows.
    Apparently, when an application asks Windows for the relevant profile name, Windows is returning the wrong profile. This problem does not exist when running in Extended mode or with the external monitor only (i.e. "Show desktop only on 2").
    Am I alone in seeing this particular behaviour? I can't help but suspect that the reversing of the Monitor IDs by Windows CM is a factor here.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I have to agree with you; getting the correct monitor identification squared away is foremost.  Then we'll worry about subsequent issues if any remain.
    What video "card" model does your system have?
    I ask because there are usually functions in the video drivers for identifying the monitors and assigning them numbers, for example via the following screen in the ATI Catalyst control panel:

  • Photoshop CS5 still chooses wrong monitor profile in dual monitor case?

    The folk lore has it that if you go to EDIT/COLOR SETTINGS and open the Working Spaces RGB drop down, then what it says near the top on the "Monitor RGB" line is the monitor profile that photoshop is actually using.
    If that is true, then I would expect that if I run photoshop on my monitor 1 it would show the profile of monitor 1, and if I run PS on monitor 2 it would show the profile of monitor 2. But in fact, it always shows the profile of monitor 1. Naturally, this creates anxiety that PS is using the wrong profile to display my images, since I normally run with the image on monitor 2.
    My setup: Windows 7 64-bit, PS 12.0.1 x64. Matrox M9120 graphics card driving two monitors. Windows CONTROL PANEL/COLOR MANAGEMENT shows a different profile active on each monitor.
    (By running photoshop on a particular monitor, I mean I run photoshop, drag it in non-full screen mode to the desired monitor, and close it. Then I run it again and it starts on that monitor (including the splash screen).)

    PeterFacey wrote:
    Emil, Sorry, I disagree. It relates entirely to how Photoshop handles profiles, not how the operating system does.
    Windows operating system doesn't handle color profiles at all, but it provides all programs that do with the same way to handle them. If you have the color profiles of your monitors installed properly in the system, they will be equally available to all programs. If a program can use properly one color profile for one monitor it will do the same with more.
    PeterFacey wrote:
    I also have CorelDraw which is a colour managed application. If I set that straddling two monitors, do you think it will use the appropriate monitor profile for each half? I don't know, ...
    I don't have CorelDraw and don't know if it is color managed, but if it is and if the color management on your system is working properly it should give you the same result as Photoshop. Just go ahead and check it - open the same image in Photoshop and in CorelDraw and make a screen capture then measure the RGB values in Photoshop or any program that displays the RGB numbers of colors. But have in mind that a screen capture from multiple monitors that share the desktop will capture the entire shared desktop on one image (if monitors are different sizes it will leave blank areas around the smaller one depending on the alignment), but the same colors will be the same on the entire screen capture using the effect from the color profile only of your main monitor. So if you want to measure how the other monitor displays the RGB color values of the same color, you have to change it  to your main monitor in your system in order to have the screen capture with the effect of that monitor's color profile.
    On my computer using Windows 7, all color managed programs show the same colors on one or more monitors. Along with the color managed programs from Adobe like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AfterEffects, the other color managed programs like Windows Explorer, Windows Media Player, Firefox, QuickTime, etc also show the same RGB values of a color from each program on a certain monitor.
    Basically, if the color management is working properly, the same color displayed from all color managed programs should look the same or as close as possible on each monitor, but when you capture the screen and measure the RGB values they should be different on each monitor unless the monitors are physically identical which is unreal.

  • How to edit DW 8 pop-up menus in DW CS5?

    Hello,
    Yes, I understand about Spry menu bar in CS5 and will use it in the future for creating new pop-up menus.
    However, I have already created many pop-up menus using DW 8 for  multiple web sites and standalone web pages - about 100 web pages total - for my employer.
    Is it possible to edit these DW 8 pop-up menus from within DW CS5?
    I did try the only instructions I found, which I thought were to choose ~ Deprecated from the Behaviors menu, and then choose the Pop-up menu. However, even when I have open a web page in CS5 containing an existing pop-up menu I created in DW 8, I do not see anything about Deprecated on the Behaviors menu.
    I tried positioning my cursor on the URL and then also on a graphic item associated with the pop-up menu behavior I applied in DW 8 - still did not see "Deprecated" in the Behaviors menu or how to select it. (Please note that my pop-up menus do not involve Fireworks MX in any way; they were created directly in DW 8 by applying the pop-up menu JavaScript behavior.)
    What am I missing? How do I select "Deprecated" in the Behaviors menu?
    Is there some other way - or any way at all - I can edit my pop-up menus previously created in 100+ web pages ? I really do not have time to re-do all of these web pages using Spry.
    Please advise. Thanks!

    Hello,  Thanks for the response. All of my web sites and standalone web pages are internal, behind the corporate firewall so I cannot provide you with links.
    Recap: The pop-up menus I created in DW 8 work beautifully, seamlessly and were very easy to maintain in the earlier version of Dreamweaver. I have been using DW pop-up menus since 2004.
    Goal: To update and edit these pop-up menus created in DW 8 - in DW CS5. Why? Because we have multiple websites and standalone web pages, 100+ web pages total, some with multiple pop-up menus on each page and it is not possible due to time limitations to re-code and re-develop all of these existing pages using the new Spry menu. We will use the Spry menu when we create new menus for new web pages in the future.
    I have previously read here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7ae 9a.html  that you choose ~ Deprecate from the Behaviors menu to update existing DW 8 pop-up menus in DW CS 5, but I do not have this option available to me - I do not see a "Deprecate" selection available when I select an existing DW 8 pop-up menu to edit in CS5. Perhaps I am doing something wrong? When I place my cursor on the pop-up menu items, and go to the Behaviors panel, I do not have a Deprecate option, and the pop-up menu actions are not available to select.
    I am concerned that the only way it appears that I can edit the pop-up menus is to edit the HTML which is possible but messy, and defeats the reason for having DW in the first place. Otherwise, I guess we go back to using DW8 and don't use DW CS5 at all for our existing web pages. If that happens, management will certainly question "why did we pay $400 for a commercial license for a software product which does not allow us to edit our existing web pages?".
    Here are two coding samples from my web pages with the links changed so that confidential information is non-identifiable:
    Example 1
    1. Link coding associated with the pop-up menu behavior (identifiable link information changed for this example):
    <a href="examples1/index.html" name="link1" id="site-home" style="text-decoration:none" onmouseover="MM_showMenu(window.mm_menu_0112173011_0,152,-1,null,'link1')" onmouseout="MM_startTimeout();">Example link 1<img src="images/triangle-sm.gif" alt="pointer" width="5" height="6" style="margin-left:6px"/></a>
    2. Associated coding in the <head> tag for this particular example:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function mmLoadMenus() {
      if (window.mm_menu_0104100320_0) return;
      window.mm_menu_0112173011_0 = new Menu("root",165,24,"Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif",11,"#000000","#FFFFFF","#99CCFF","#708EA8","left","middle",3,0,1000,-5,7,true ,true,true,3,false,false);
      mm_menu_0112173011_0.addMenuItem("Example link 1 home","location='examples1/index.html'");
      mm_menu_0112173011_0.addMenuItem("Page two","location='examples1/page2.html'");
      mm_menu_0112173011_0.addMenuItem("Page three","location='examples1/page3.html'");
       mm_menu_0112173011_0.hideOnMouseOut=true;
       mm_menu_0112173011_0.bgColor='#FFFFFF';
       mm_menu_0112173011_0.menuBorder=1;
       mm_menu_0112173011_0.menuLiteBgColor='#FFFFFF';
       mm_menu_0112173011_0.menuBorderBgColor='';
    mm_menu_0112174423_0.writeMenus();
    } // mmLoadMenus()
    //-->
    </script>
    <script language="JavaScript" src="mm_menu.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    3. Of course, we load the menus in the first line after the open <body> tag:
    <script language="JavaScript1.2">mmLoadMenus();</script>
    The "mm_menu.js" file itself is located in the self-same directory/folder as the web page, so it loads properly and the pop-up menus function as expected.
    Example 2
    1. Link coding associated with the pop-up menu behavior (identifiable link information changed for this example):
    <a href="javascript:void(0)" name="link5" id="link1" onclick="MM_showMenu(window.mm_menu_0203084229_0,-115,-40,null,'link5')" onmouseout="MM_startTimeout();">Reports</a>
    2. Associated coding in the <head> tag for this particular example:

    <!--
    function mmLoadMenus() {

      mm_menu_0203091816_0.addMenuItem("Industryreport2","location='link2.html'");
      mm_menu_0203091816_0.addMenuItem("Industryreport3","location='link3.html'");
      mm_menu_0203091816_0.addMenuItem("Industryreport4","location='link4.html'");
      mm_menu_0203091816_0.addMenuItem("Industryreport5","location='link5.html'");
       mm_menu_0203091816_0.hideOnMouseOut=true;
       mm_menu_0203091816_0.bgColor='#FFFFFF';
       mm_menu_0203091816_0.menuBorder=1;
       mm_menu_0203091816_0.menuLiteBgColor='#FFFFFF';
       mm_menu_0203091816_0.menuBorderBgColor='#FFFFFF';
    mm_menu_0203091816_0.writeMenus();

  • VI Shows up on wrong monitor in compiled app

    I have an application that has a vi that is displayed on a second monitor.  I use the Windows Run Time Position setting  to put it there.  Works great in the LV environment.  After the app is compiled however, the vi shows up on the primary monitor.
    As suggested elsewhere on this board, I tried using the attached vi to manually move the vi to the other monitor, with no effect. Help
    TIA,

    Howdy Bill,
    I ran your VI in the development environment and as an executable. It behaved as it was intended to on my double panel PC. My suggestion would be to place an indicator on the array containing the bounds for all the displays (at output of App Property Node). This will let you see if the bounds for monitors 0, 1, 2… make sense and thus, you’ll know you have chosen the correct monitor. If you have chosen a monitor that doesn’t exist, the VI will default to your primary monitor.
    Finally, if everything looks right and you still have this application popping up on the wrong screen; post the .exe so we can see if there is a difference.

  • Video card to run 2nd and 3rd monitors cs5.5

    Hello all,
    I have a powerful system with multiple hard drives that I use to cut HD DSLR footage on in CS5.5.  My GTX 570 runs my 1st monitor and my 9600GT runs the 2nd and 3rd monitors with great success.
    1st monitor = timeline
    2nd = bins
    3rd = full screen preview (Highest quality preview)
    The reason I use the gtx 570 to run only the first monitor is because it idles much higher and hotter connected to two monitors.  (Disables the down clocking feature on the card when connected to multiple displays).
    Well the 9600gt has died.
    I don't want to spend alot of money here but I am not sure what video card I require for my 2nd and 3rd monitors.  Keep in mind the 3rd monitor is the full screen preview.
    I know premiere pro uses my 570gtx for the MPE but I have no idea how this effects (if it does at all) my 3rd preview monitor since I have had it plugged into my 9600gt.
    There for I am not sure if I can get away with a cheap card like a $50.00 Nvidia GT 610 or do I need something at least equal or greater then my old 9600gt?
    Thanks!,

  • Additional options for Photoshop Brushes pop-up window

    I created Brushes to add borders or edges arround images and for every brush 4 different angles: 0, 90, 180, 270 because it is much easier to change from right click pop-up window or using , and . keyboard shortcuts then opening Brush panel or to use Options Bar every single time. What I suggest is to add at least Flip X and Flip Y in right click pop-up window from Brush Tip Shape tab. It will be great to have and angle control and clicable icon (or keyboard shortcut) to set options for current Brush as for previous. Here I mean options like Wet Edges, Color Dynamics and so on. I like randomness of colors whith Color Dynamics and Air brush mode but colors changing too fast, can you add some control over it for example to press some key and slow down display of color randomness. I know what to do to save every brush with preferred options but I plan to share this brushes and those preferences may not be very exciting for other users.

    Often, the feedback/feature request sub-forms are disbanded and shut down, when a new version is released. Not sure if that happened here, but if the last post is close to the CS 5.5 releases, then it might explain it. In a case like this, should the sub-form be closed, it would be nice to get a sticky telling everyone that it is now closed.

  • Popup panel windows always appear in middle of monitor CS5

    As of recently, all popup windows in Photoshop (i.e. colour picker, layer styles etc) appear in the middle of my monitor and cover the canvas i'm working on.
    In the past, I would move this window over to the side and next time i open it, it would open in the last position.
    This is no longer the case. Everytime it opens right in the center of the screen covering my artwork.
    The same goes for layer styles. e.g. Stroke.
    First the Layer Styles popup will cover my work.. i'll move it to one side
    Then when I want to colour the stroke, the colour picker appears in the middle so I have to move this too.
    I probably waste about an hour of my day just moving these popups out of the way.
    The only thing I can think of is the fact that i've recently updated my graphics card driver (ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series)
    In Catalyst Control Centre, I hav ticked the option to keep dialogue windows in the correct place but this doesn't apply to the in-application popups.
    Help Please!

    Win 7 64bit
    Photoshop CS5 64bit
    I've tried resetting the prefs but holding ctrl alt shift - no joy
    I have no 3rd party plugs installed and havent installed any new fonts in a while.. long before the problem started.
    Just tried turning off OpenGL and restarted PS and that fixed it!
    So i guess the issue is with the graphics card driver. Maybe I should roll-back to an old version?
    EDIT:
    I'e now re-enabled OpenGL and restarted PS. Everything is working as normal now. Popups remember their last position and dont cover my artwork!
    Thanks for the suggestion c.pfaffenbichler

  • Why doesn't my Photoshop standard CS6 have the same brush pop up as CC?

    I've noticed that in PS CS6 CC that the right-click brush menu pop up has a brush angle wheel like in the brush palette. I do NOT see this when I'm using my version of Photoshop. What gives, Adobe? I'm an illustrator and have no need for most of the additional bells and whistles of Extended, but being able to change the brush angle conveniently is something that I would very much appreciate.

    Yes, really.  Do Help / About PS-CS6 and Help / About PS-CC within each program and you'll see the major version number is different.  With a subscription-only model there isn't a major release, every 12-18 months and corresponding incrementing of a number in the CS-title, just smaller incremental releases--we've had 1 or 2 so far, so no need to include a version number in the title of the app, anymore.
