Brush size acting up

Hello guys this is a question I want to ask to you all.
when I changed the brush size and paint it looks bigger/smaller but the cursor itself stays the same width other times as the brush got bigger the circle got bigger now its not so its hard to see where the brush will end up. any idea how I can changed this back ? I already went to preferences and and saw that its in set right just not showing . Please help am on hold because of this . Trolo

I've had this happen on occasion, not sure what the cause is though. Save your work, close and re-open the program and things should be back to normal.

Eraser tool in Photoshop CS4 acts as if it is transparent when on brush or pencil mode. Block acts like its not transparent at all but there are no options for opacity, flow or brush size. Whats wrong and how to I make the brush and pencil eraser erase completely without having to go over it multiple times?
It started randomly about two weeks ago and I thought it was a glitch that would just go away. But now I am getting sick of using only the block eraser on one size. Help?

The easiest thing to start with is to reset the Eraser Tool.
Right click on the Eraser icon in the tool options bar and then click on Reset Tool.

  • Bigger brush sizes in Adobe Flash CS5.5

So what my problem is with Adobe Flash CS5.5 is that it only goes up to a certain brush size. I want an even bigger brush sizes. I wish there was an option where you could pick a number and thats how big your brush size would go up to. But it only gives you a limited amount of options. Is there ANY way AT ALL for me to get a lot bigger and/or smaller brush sizes? Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem here. I'm trying to do a stick animation on cs6, but to be more precise, i need to actually draw with a larger brush size. I suggest using the pen tool with the smooth option on. You can't see exactly where the stroke will be, but its better than nothing, and it more or less acts like the brush anyway.

  • PHOTOSHOP CS6 BRUSH SIZE

    PHOTOSHOP CS6 GRANDEZZA PENNELLO
    avete qualche soluzione?

who is dear to me solve my problem?
usually my quick way to reduce or enlarge the diameter of the brush (for example, if I am acting on a layer mask) is ctrl + alt and move the mouse to the left / right. in other cases, act directly on the board brush.
as you will see from the photo is the range of the exponential scale of the brushes in photoshop CS6 and so it is unmanageable. working with large photos interests me especially the last part, and then I would like the scale from 0 to 5000 px grow evenly (for example there is now a 84 px there were 2500 px).
    you have any solution?

  • Brush size spreads as I move the mouse in Photoshop CC

My paint brush is acting differently than it used to in older versions of Photoshop. I'm not sure if it's just an update to the software, a setting somewhere that's changed, or if it has something to do with my smart mouse.... I've been using Photoshop for a very long time, and strangely haven't been able to find any answers to why the brush acts so differently lately via Google, so I'm hoping someone here can chime in.
In the picture below, the first shot is the first click with the brush onto the canvas. As soon as I move the brush in any direction, the size changes drastically. The second and third shot show what happens when I barely move the brush to the right.
None of the controls at the top are selected (use pressure for opacity, airbrush, use pressure for size), and I've turned on and off all of the various options in Brush Presets, and can't seem to get the brush size to stay consistent. What am I missing? Thank you!

I think it would be helpful it you posted your brush palette when you have the problem so we cab see the actual brush settings.  First try resetting Photoshop tools.

  • Brush size no longer showing up on cursor

Hi everyone. I use my brushes a lot, but I've just lost all ability to see, on screen, in real time, the outline of my brush; all I get is a cross, no matter how big or small my brush is. The same goes for my clone stamp tool, as well as my dodge and burn tools. PS is essentially useless to me like this because I cannot see the edge of where I am painting until afterward, when I see the effect. I cannot seem to fix it in preferences, and I have no idea how this happened. Can someone PLEASE help????? Thanks, Jeff

Thanks for the prompt reply. The problem is resolved, for now, anyway. It appears to have been something to do with my cursor preferences, just as we suspected. The curious thing is that I didn't knowingly make any adjustments to my cursor preferences until AFTER this problem appeared. After it appeared, I checked my preferences, and they looked correct. Nonetheless, out of desperation, I tried to change my cursor preferences anyway, but nothing I did seemed to have any effect. After I posted the question, I shut down PS, re-entered PS and noticed that my cursors had changed. They were still wrong, but at least they had changed. I set my preferences back to the correct setting, and the problem went away.
When I paint, I adjust brush sizes and opacity and toggle between foreground and background using keystrokes, instead of the mouse, so is it possible that I mistakenly changed my cursor preferences without even knowing it???? I didn't even think about or look at caps-lock. What would that do?
Anyway, it's sorted for now, which is a huge relief, but I do wish I knew what caused it in the first place, so that I could be sure that it won't happen again. Thanks again.

  • How can I get my brush size to appear in Photoshop CC?

I just upgraded to Photoshop CC and I cannot see my brush size, especially when I make the brush size larger.  A small circle appears when the brush is very small, but at larger sizes it disappears such that I have to guess at my brush size, which does not work when using the healing tool or brush tool.  I especially have problems when I zoom into the photo at 100% or more.  I can only see a crosshair, but I would like to get the circle size back.  I have tried several things, which have not worked, including making sure the caps lock is off and changing my preferences->cursors->normal brush tip.  Any suggestions???  Thanks.

    What OS are you running?

  • Not able to set custom shortcut for increase/decrease brush size in Photoshop CC 2014 on Win 8

I am using Windows 8 and PS CC2014 and the issue is that I can't assign custom shortcut to the dot. I have been using , and . as decreasing and increasing brush size and it has worked well in every photoshop, even cc2014 in win7 but not in win8 it seems. It lets me to change the , and just tells me that it is in use in somewhere else but i can still change it. But I can't do the same with . as it complains it being used by an application although I have cleared that from the original place and left it empty, photoshop still recognizes it if I press it although it would be empty but I can't assign that key to anything else either.
Small thing but drives me crazy as I had to assign it to another keys and I am using the shortcuts from muscle memory mostly and end up changing the brush when I had an intention to increase the size. I tried to google this but couldn't find anything similar solution.

I didn't manage to get it to work :c Restart won't do anything and I tried to reset the preferences by deleting manually the file with keyboard shortcuts. I managed to get them to the factory settings but that was about it. Everytime I try to assign "." to somewhere (including to the place where it already is), it gives the red x and says "the shortcut is not valid. It is being used by another application." (not sure what it is in english exactly, I happen to have my PS in finnish unfortunately ). Plugin disabled mode did nothing either.
I have changed that shortcut many times to different versions earlier and this is first time I see that message or am not being able to change the shortcut. And I installed the photoshop yesterday from fresh and first thing I did was making the shortcuts and it gave the error from the first use.

  • Adjustment Brush in Lightroom 5 has a different sized effect smaller than the brush size

    Hi,
When using Lightroom 5 Adjustment brush, the effect is only in the inner half of the brush size circle. In other words, if you select a 1 inch brush to darken, only about the center 1/2 inch is being darkened. I'm 100 percent sure the brush has no feathering, and all the settings are fine. An expert told me to try to get rid of preferences, and try it, and it still does the same thing. Now, I just updated to LR 5.7 hoping maybe it will fix it, to no avail. The LR on my laptop behaves perfectly fine.
Attached is a screen shot and a phone shot (excuse the moire, I had to use a phone to show the brush size properly) to show settings and the effect I'm talking about, so it's perfectly clear.
I have been putting up with this for months, but it's driving me crazy. Also, it occurred to me that all adjustments I make might 'change' later when I fix it, and it might show up unknown to me when I export the files later. And this would waste hundreds of hours of work if something resets somehow.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for all replies!
    Stu

This problem is caused by changing the cursor size in the ACCESSIBILITY settings in your OS.  Here is a screen shot from the Mac but Windows has similar settings.  I reported this in Lightroom 2 or 3 and it is STILL not fixed. (Adobe's bug fixing rate to me is pretty dismal)   If you change your system cursor to anything except "Normal" you will get this behavior as Lightroom doesn't account for the system preferences.  I would like to make my cursor bigger but this prevents it.

  • CHANGE BRUSH SIZE WITH CTRL and alt KEYS

    Hello everyone,
i'm on the road with my new macbook and i have a problem with setting up my wacom pen.
At home i use a iMac with CS5 and to change the brush size i press the alt and the ctrl key and move the pen to left/tight up/down to chang size and hardnes of the brush. I find this very handy!
On my new Macbook i have CC and i don't have the option to use this easy key combination, i was loking around and did some google, but i could not find the place to get the same settings on my macbook.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thank you very much.

When you press and hold Option/Alt  + Control  and Left mouse click and drag nothing happens?
(the button on your pen is set to left click?)
The Option/Alt key should always be the second key to the left of the spacebar
The Control key should always be the third key to the left of the spacebar

  • Why is Liquify Brush Size so Out of Proportion?

When I choose the Liquify option from the Filter menu, the Liquify tool opens and I have access to the custom set of Liquify tools. Unlike almost any other tool where you select a brush size, the Liquify tool requires you to modify the position of a slider rather than selecting the brush size dynamically by right-clicking.
The problem is that the brush size selector control goes from 0 to 15,000px diameter. In order to make effective use of a 15,000 pixel liquify push tool, you'd have to have a really large image. Perhaps there is a case where someone at some time used a 15,000 px diameter nudge brush in the Liquify tool, but in my nearly 20 years of using Photoshop, I have never come across the need for a brush that large.
Regardless, because the selector uses a linear scale, it is really difficult to select a small brush size (say less than 100px) without manually incrementing the slider.
I would really like to see Adobe standardize the tool size/preset selector so that it is always available via the context menu (or equivalent) and that an option exists to enable relative slider values or percentage slider values in incremental selectors like brush size. Percentages could be setup where 100% was the largest side of the current image and then brush sizes could be selected via percentage of your image (of course converting to pixels, but the scale would be percentage-based). Even an exponential scale that favored the smaller values would be helpful. Or perhaps, movable caps that would allow you to set your own Max and Min values....that would rock.
Are there are any plugins that solve this problem? Anybody have any advice on how I might be able to select more appropriately scaled brushes in the Liquify tool when I am working with images where a 15,000 pixel brush head is unreasonable.
Any input would be greatl appreciated.

    R_Kelly, thanks for the reply.
The problem isn't that there aren't enough ways to change the size fo the cursor, it's the relative scale of the cursor. I have two 37" Dell Ultra monitors on my desktop and to use the Alt-Right click method of resizing the brush (even on a 7500 pixel wide document at 300 dpi), I have to drag from one side of my dual monitor setup across 60 inches (whatever the horizontal width of a 37" monitor x2) about 50 times to get the brush to a size that I can actually see the outline of it.
Then, once I can see the outline of the Nudge Tool (in the Liquify tools), if I drag about 3 pixels, the visible outline of the brush wildly jumps from full-screen to tiny. It's because the scale of the brush size selector is a mess. 95% of the sizes in the selector are bigger than the piece that I am working on. Does that make sense? Why would you be able to select a tool size bigger than your document? Furthermore why would you want 95% of the available tool sizes to be unusable? It doesn't make any sense at all.
Thanks for the short reminder on brush size manipulation in general. I was surprised to see it work in the Liquify tool--though it didn't solve the issue.
    Best wishes,
    Jase

  • Detecting The Current Brush Size

    Hi all,
Is there anyway in javascript to detect the pixel size of the current brush? I want to use that value as a variable in a script.
    Thanks for any help.

    >
    > Is there anyway in javascript to detect the pixel size of the current brush?
It's fairly easy to set the current brush size via scripting listener code, but
reading the current value does not appear to be as simple.
If I had to do it, I would create a new (temporary) brush preset, save the
preset to disk, delete the temporary in-memory preset, then pick apart the saved
brush file to extract the brush size.
The last part is the only part that gets a bit tedious. The others can all be
taken care of via SL code. Or, even easier, the PresetsManager script in xtools.

  • How do you increase the Brush Size past 50 on the Stroke Effect?

    Hey Everyone,
I created a photo in Photoshop and I imported it to AE, and I've been trying to create a Spray Paint effect by using the Stroke effect and Reveal Original Image to look look like as if I'm spray painting the the picture on the wall. All is going well until I get to the brush size, and it only goes up to 50. Does anyone know how to increase it past 50? 50 is to small, it won't cover what I want it to cover for the stoke. I can't seem to figure out a way to get it higher than 50, and I don't know any other way to create the effect I'm trying to go for. Anyone know how to either get past this or know a different way to get make it look like I'm spray painting the picture on the wall? Any help at all would be great.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Raven

The After Effects CC (12.2) update increases the maximum size of the brush for the Write-on effect and Stroke effect to 200 pixels (from the previous maximum of 50 pixels).

  • Brush Disappears with Increased Brush Size

Having issues with my news CS4. When I increase my brush size, no matter if it's an eraser, stamp tool or anything else, the brush cursor or "circle" starts to disappear once the brush is more than 175 pixels in diameter. I've checked preferences and the brush tool presets and cannot find why this is happening.
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks, NASAphotographer

    Update your video card drivers.
This is a well documented problem. Also ensure that you have installed the Photoshop 11.0.1 patch.

  • Brush size in Flash?

I often need to zoom in on my cartoons so that I can make my details more precise. However, my brush size DOES NOT change proportionally to my canvas, and this makes my lines appear uneven and unprofessional. Yes, I understand how to change brush size, but I don't know how to keep it from changing the size when I zoom.

On the toolbar above the Fl logo click the two arrows to
widen out the toolbar and it will show two brush settings at the
bottom, the right one is the brush shape and left the size.
    Hope it helped.
