Brush Tool / Spot Healing unresponsive with PS CC 2014 on Yosemite!
Hi community,
I'm running CC2014 on OS Yosemite but had the same problem on Mavericks....
Whenever I've used the brush tool and move the circle back over the toolbar to select a different tool, the circle does not change back
into the arrow unless I click again on a tool or another space outside the picture.
Similar with the healing stamp. I click on the spot I want to fix but the actually change in the picture does not happen unless I again click
on a different tool or any other area outside the photo.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a million!
Thanks for your answer PK. I really expected this to work as an ok workaround.... Now I've found that I cannot even cmd+tab back into CC.
Let's say I tab out into Safari. I get the Safari window on top of CC. I tab back to CC and nothing happens.
So I have to click back into the CC window to bring it back.
Does anyone know if that is a bug that Adobe are looking into?

I have just downloaded Yosemite but I find that Photoshop Elements 11 does not work properly. If I use a tool like a paint brush or spot healer I cannot paint a full stroke does anyone else have this issue or know a solution?
Many thanks that does work. But it now leads to another question is this simply a trackpad issue and if so will it be fixed? I use Elements every day and was thinking I would have to go back to Mavericks.

Brush Tool is not working with Layer Mask
Working with Windows platform, using Photoshop CS4, Brush Tool is not working with Layer Mask, how can I resolve this challenge?
Also, do you have any Selections active - maybe hidden?
When you have your Layer Mask's Channel active, do your Colors change to black and white?
Good luck,

What is the difference between healing brush and spot healing brush?
Please tell me as fast as possible.
Key extract from Arpit's excellent link above:
Unlike the Healing Brush, the Spot Healing Brush doesn’t require you to specify a sample spot. The Spot Healing Brush automatically samples from around the retouched area. -
Paint brush tool doesn't work with my Wacom tablet
My new pen tablet works well except when I try to use the paint brush tool. I was using NIK Color effects pro plug in and when I select the paint brush mode it didn't work. So I just tied the paint brush tool without going thru NIK and it still didn't work with the pen tablet. There must be something I haven't set correctly but can't figure it out.
Other tools work just fine such as the patch tool, etc. Any ideas?try reseting the paint brush and download the newest driver from Wacom

Clone Stamp Tool & Spot Healing Brush Tool going wild
Both of subject tools often 'go wild' on me when I am working on an image. Either tool will race across an image in a straight line and leave either a cloning or spotting mark [straight line].
I suspect this has something to do with insufficient memory. However I have 4 GB RAM and am not running any other big program while doing the cloning/spotting.
Even if I 'give it some rest' this strange behavior will continue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ps. Attached is a tiny sample, circled in red.It is essential to update Photoshop to version 11.0.1!
If that doesn't help, see if it still happens with OpenGL turned off.
Is that two video cards? Neither number is shown on the Adobe list.

Healing brush vs. spot healing brush?
they seem to do the same thing just slightly differently . are there some differences that make one more useful in some situations over the other?
WHen hen trying to cover wrinkles, blemishes, etc, should the content aware option always be selected?
thanks.Try different ways there is always undo. Use what you judge looks best. There are other methods like frequency separation where you can edit texture and color independently. Using layers also help you can heal onto a new empty layer then blend in fade etc the healing effect. Play with Photoshop you have nothing to lose and you will gain a lot of knowledge. The most powerful Photoshop tool you have at your disposal is the gray matter between your ears...

Crop tool won't drag with CC Photoshop 2014
I have searched everywhere and talked with Adobe support through chat (they ended that abruptly??!), and Twitter and still have not had any resolution to this. I hope someone can help.
I'm trying to do a simple crop. I've done it a million times with no problems BEFORE CC 2014.
I select the crop tool and try to drag but it always stops immediately and selects the entire image as the Crop Preview.
I've tried:
using "Classic Mode"
different Ratios/Resolutions
uninstalling/re-installing
installing the latest update - but that always fails. - I'll even completely uninstall, then when it goes to re-install it will install the one file (after a million attempts at failing to download it) and then fail on an update that it tries to install. I've tried at least 20 times. AT LEAST!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Could it be my NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS? (I know that's not the reason for the failed downloads from Adobe servers - that's all on them.)

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEI have spent a week trying to get this to work and now it just started working for all images. I have NO idea why.
Here's what I did:
1. uninstalled NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS drivers and reinstalled them
2. uninstalled CC Photoshop 2014 (2x)
3. clean install of CC Photoshop 2014 (2x)
4. installed update (took dozens of tries before this actually downloaded and installed successfully unfortunately)
5. clicked on the crop tool and tried to drag... nothing happened
6. waited, waited and waited.. went about my other work and forgot about it and then after about 5 minutes the crop box appeared. I was able to adjust it too.
No idea but I'm happy now. -
Wacom Cintiq Right Click Brush Tool Problem in CS5
Hello Everyone,
So I've been trying out the new CS5 and was excited to try out the new brush menu on my cintiq. When I tried it out it was awesome but when I right clicked using either the mouse or pen, the quick access brush menu invokes on the laptop monitor rather than near the cursor like with other tools or other versions of photoshop. It is really annoying to have to drop the pen in order to adjust the brush. Totally slows you down. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I've searched around a bit and have yet to hear anyone complain about this. I suspect it might be the same for dual monitor setups? Thus far just CS5 has this glitch with the brush tool.
Any help with this is much appreciated.
Thanks!
~CarlosI'm having the same issues as you describe. CS5 (64-bit) and my Cintiq seem to be working well, except for the annyance of the brush window location... I'd like it to "pop up" on the Cintique where I'm doing all of my active work. Unfortunately, the pop-up window will only open on the main (non-Cintique) monitor.
I've searched the web, the Adobe forums, and the Wacom forums, but very little information is available on this topic. I would think that there would be a lot more activity on this subject, but perhaps there's a work-around that we haven't found?
Any help is definitely appreciated! -
I made this point heavily during the LR3 beta phase, and recieved quite a bit of backing - and yet Adobe seem unwilling to implement the equest.
A brush tool that can work with square or rectangular shape/ pattern & not just a circle.
Have you tried working on a window which has square corners with a round brush?
I am not a Photoshop fan, and layers is certainly not my cup of tea, so having a single package that covers all my needs is a must.
For as many nice features as there are in LR4 beta, that missing square brush tool is just a real let down!>and yet Adobe seem unwilling to implement the equest.
I think the more likley reason for its absence is the availablity of time and resources. With each new version the development team have to sift through a large number of feature requests, ideas, etc. Some of the features included this time round have been extremely popular requests, even before the brush tool ever got into the public domain. Obviously, these features been given a higher priority than those that haven't made it in yet. That's not to say that the absentees won't be implmented at some future date. -

Roblem with the Spot Healing Brush Tool in CS5
I have a problem with the Spot Healing Brush Tool in CS5. When opening a number of files to work on them the Spot Healing Brush works initially fine and without any problems. After a few files the Spot Healing Brush doesn't work any longer, even I didn't changed any settings. So far I solved the problem by closing and reopening CS5 which is not a very efficent way to solve the problem Does anybody have an idea what is causing the problem and more important how I can fix it.
A visual guide just in case
To reset, select your Tool, right, or ctrl-click (Mac) on its' icon in the top Option bar, and you should see the reset menu.

Pen tool/path and content aware spot healing brush to remove cables (CS5)
Tried to remove some cables from an image using Russel Brown's video making use of the pen tool/path and the spot healing brush with content aware. I'm pretty sure I followed his tutorial exactly but it did not work satisfactorily. Are there any other tweaks I should be using to remove these cables and replace them with the background details?
Yes to all.
Silkrooster - Looks great! However, I believe spot healing brush was the first I tried and got smudgy results, especially in area of the locks where there is a lot of detail behind the cables. Found the patch tool works best, but not where there is a lot of detail behind the cables.
Fosse - Well, the bow of the ship going through the Panama Canal at 6 AM in the morning is a popular place, very crowded, and not one of them a photographer. I was lucky enough to get the last spot which was dead center, but in front of the cables. I tried to prevail on some people next to me to trade spots, but none were willing ($##$!!!&& b---ds) and they didn't even have cameras. However, will keep your suggestion in mind about taking two shots for the next time...and will have to get up earlier.
I think if I want to really make this work, I will have to do a lot of work, probably using a combination of all these methods.
Thanks to you all.
By the way, Re my question on screens without a reply button...when I click on a response, it appears without any reply button. How do I get a screen showing the reply button without entering a new question, cancelling out of it, and then clicking on a response, which is the only way I found to get a screen showing the reply button. -
Spot healing brush tool problem
I am having a lot of problems with the spot healing brush tool. I am getting asked to use the alt key to pick a spot. It should not be doing that. It acts as if I were using the clone stamp tool, which I do not want to use now. Can anyone help me with this? My software is Photoshop CC and is up to date.
Click and hold on the healing brish on the Toolbar. You have the Healing brush selected, and you want the 'Spot healing brush'

PSE 9 crashes when I use the Spot Healing Brush tool
When I use the Spot Healing Brush tool PSE9 crashs completly. Is it a bug? In the older version 8 I had no problem.
I use WIN XP SP2, Intel Pentium 4, 3 Ghz, GPU: NVIDIA Geforce FX 5700, DirectX 9.0c 4.09.00.0904.
I tried it also on another PC with WIN7 and it caused the same problem.
Thanks for any adivseI know this post doesn't really help you guys, but I'm also using PSE9 on a Win7 Intel Quad Core Dell computer and the spot healing brush works fine. I only offer this post to indicate that it apparently is not a universal bug in PSE9. Perhaps an Adobe expert can jump in here and help. I can only offer that in Preferences I do have the RAM dialed up to 80%, but I don't think this is related to your problem.
