BSEG Conversion caused by SAP_APPL 19

Hello,
We are import support packages for ECC 6.0 and SAP_APPL 19 is causing a BSEG conversion.
We already have the BASIS SP 19 with note 1283197.  Has anyone run into this issue and have a way to avoid it.
Yes, the cluster has been modified using append.
Thanks,
Eddy

Hi Eddy,
We applied this note by using SNOTE on a system with not modified BSEG table and it worked successfully. I suggest you execute this import on your test system and see the result.
Please notice the statement, below in the note;
Make sure that you implement the corrections associated with this note,
either by importing the relevant Support Package or by implementing the
attached correction instructions using transaction SNOTE.
Best regads,

  • VMDK to VHDX conversion causes errors described in KB 2470478

    Hi all,
    this is the situation:
    We are converting multiple VMs (Windows 2008 - not R2) from ESXi 5.1 to Hyper-V 2012 R2.
The conversation itself is always successful but when we check the event log in the migrated servers we see errors like:
    ESENT ... could not read header... c:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore\logs\edb.log ... wuaueng.dll
--> Windows Update is not working anymore.
This seems to be caused by the problem described in KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2470478:
Applications that are built on ESENT and that run on a Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer may not work correctly after the reported physical sector size of the storage device changes.
I think the sector size changes during conversion to VHDX.
The KB says also that this affects many applications that are built on ESENT like AD, CA, ...
    Questions:
Should the mentioned fix be already included in any updates?
Shall we install the hotfix prior to conversion?
What is the risk for AD when we migrate our DCs to Hyper-V?
Hope you can help to find out the risk we have regarding this bug. :-)
    Thanks!!!

    Hello Paul,
the problem that occures is related to am memory leak when the used matlab dll is loaded and released.
If DIAdem saves a matlab file this dll is loaded and unloaded which leads to the behavior you have seen.
There is a workaround if we keep the plugin being attached.
Option Explicit 'Forces the explicit declaration of all the variables in a script.
' Insert at the start of your script
    dim validWritablePathToDummyMatFile : validWritablePathToDummyMatFile = "C:\temp\dummyFileToHoldDll.mat"
    dim holdDllStore : set holdDllStore = navigator.ConnectDataStoreByParameter("MatLab", "<filename>" & validWritablePathToDummyMatFile & "</filename><model>http://www.ni.com/DataModels/USI/TDM/1_0</model>")
    dim i : for i = 1 to 1000
    datafileSave "C:\temp\out.mat", "MatLab"
    Next
This code will open holddllStore at the start of the script and will keep this store open till the script finishes.
This means that the memory leak only occures once for every script run. This should work out for your use case.

  • Can (or How Does) "Organize by conversations" cause Beach Balls of Death?

Ok, I will be upfront here... This is driving me MAD!
I have been using Mac for over 10 years now (since OS 9) and this is the FIRST time that I have ever seen these types of problems.
Mail is hanging all the time and causing all sorts of jams.
    THE CURRENT PROBLEM
I say "current" because I have fixed some of the problems I was having before this current one showed up (which I will explain later).
As for the current problem, it is this:
Everytime I select an email "conversation" that has an attachment in the thread (conversation) I get a beach ball that takes about 15 seconds to go away. I am not able to do anything in Mail once this happens. I just have to wait for the ball to go away and for the conversation to be accessible. Just for the record, I also have "Show Related Messages" turned on as well (so that I can see my "Sent" messages in the conversation as well).
What I have done so far...
    1.) Vaccumed the Envelope Index file in the Terminal with: sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope\ Index vacuum;
This lead to a decrease in the size of the Index file and did make a noticable overall improvement in Mail.
2.) After that, I tried actually removing the following files from the User Library --> Mail folder: “DefaultCounts”, “Envelope Index” and “LSMMap”.
Again, this clearly lead to improvements, but I am still having the "Conversations with an attachment present" problem. The beach ball appears, and I just wait and wait and wait... Very frustrating when someone is asking for information and you are just sitting there like an idiot.
Need to get back to work here!
    Anyone???

    Update:
Interesting! It is not all Conversations that have attachments that are the problem, only certain ones. Can't figure out what the issue is. But the beach ball still appears and I am stuck whenever I click on those particular email Conversations.
The unique characteristic of the problematic Conversation is that it has two attachments in the Conversation: one PDF file in one email, and a .ics calendar file in another email in the Conversation.
That is all I can say...

  • Unicode conversion causing OCRA, OCRB, and MICR lines to output as symbols

    Hi,
I am tesing the printing of SAPScript invoices in a Unicode converted sandbox copy of our production system. When viewing the OTF output of an invoice I noticed that the line for postal barcode using OCR-B font is producing # symbols instead of numbers reprsenting the postal zip code. This works in the Non-Unicode environment on our production server.
The printer is an HPLJ8150. The device type for the printer that is used for the invoice, is ZHP8150, which uses the base device type of HPLJ8000. The character set is 1116, which is ISO 8859-1.
Can anyone tell me how to go about correcting this problem?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Nils,
Thank you for the information. I have created a new message in the Form Printing forum. Since this is something that was changed after the unicode conversion, I think I will leave this message open a little while longer incase someone who experienced this type of issue is looking in this forum.
Two things I should add. One, the font used for the device type is working in a Non-Unicode production system at this time. Two, the OTF output of the spool is not printed on our printer but is instead converted to XML and the resulting file is FTP'd to a third party for printing. So the zip code that is represented by the bar code font is just the numerical text that is in the OTF output which is sent in the XML file.

  • Message conversations cause iphone message alert problems

When we have active imessage conversations on the mac (using mountain lion of course) niether of our iphones get alerts when a messge comes in. We are not sure but it appears messages from other people (ie not the same apple id) are not bringing up alerts either. When I erase all conversations things return to normal. Surely this cant be how it is meant to work because someone using my mac can lock up the ability of all our phones to give alerts. Anyone else noticed this???

The only way to do that is to make a backup of the old phone with the coversations on it and restore to the new phone. Understand that anything that has been done on the new phone and since that backup has been done would be lost. A restore would make the new phone look like the old phone.

  • AdobeRGB to sRGB conversion causes red saturation shift

When working in AdobeRGB I can soft proof to either windowsRGB or MonitorRGB or my printer/paper profile and all looks well.
After I've done a conversion to sRGB, the only soft proof that still looks correct is WindowsRGB. MonitorRGB is especially bad about pumping up the red saturation. If the file was built using sRGB I don't have this problem, only when converting.
Why won't my converted files soft proof on my monitor and why is it that the red saturation is getting increased?

"Preserve RGB Numbers" is checked but this is only available under the Custom Proof Setup. Should I just be using the Custom Proof only, which is set up to "simulate" my Huey and not either Windows or Monitor proofing?
I started soft proofing to see how it varied from monitor to my print/paper profiles and was horrified to see how it proofed on monitor. I thought photoshop would automatically use my Huey numbers for the monitor.
Yes, I calibrate with a Huey.
I've just opened a file and saved it a combination of 12 different ways using "Assign aRGB" "Convert to aRGB" for opening, then "Save as" Save for web" both with and without ICC, converting to sRBG then "Save as" and Save for web". None of the converted files displays correctly on monitor RGB.
I'm going to upload all the files to a web site and see how they display in a browser.

  • Export Using QT Conversion Causes Crash

    Is there a bug-report area?

I've got a 2TB Time Capsule as well.
A time capsule is useless for video. That's like telling us you store everything in a 1999 volvo station wagon.
But what's the problem with having only 10GB free?
When you export (transcode) a video file, the system requires a great deal of swap space (scratch space) for the system and the program as there in nowhere near enough ram in your machine to hold all the data in memory during the hideously complex matrix transformations. This space is used temporarily so you will never see it show up in your file browser but if it is not there, the program will crash.
To address this issue you need to clear off space on your system hard drive so that there is adequate free space for the OS AND you need a drive to hold the media and act as a temp storage (scratch) disk for the program files.

  • Urgent! QT conversion automatically turn HD interlace video to Progressive

I try to use quicktime to convert a HD clip to SD. I'm sure the HD clip was interlaced. But after using quicktime conversion to make a SD version, it turn out deinterlaced. I didn't click on the "Deinterlace" option in the QT conversion window. And then I use a SD clip convert again it came out normal. I'm using QT 7.5.5. Is there any ideas? Thanks.

Frankly, the converted one looks better! But this is just a static shot! I think you'll know when it has quick pan, it will look a bit jerky. Especially when the director shot the video by 50i instead of 25p.
My procedure was setup a ProPes 1440x1080 50i project, capture HDV 1080-50i footages via firewire with playback deck setup also 50i. Edit sequence is 50i upper field. After finish editing, output a dvd by the usually way (Upper field, 16:9 Aspect). Found out the dvd was not interlaced and double check field order setting is upper field. Then tried output a upper field SD qt to check still become de-interlaced. Trashed my preferences and no effect. Then I use videos from other old projects still the same. At this moment, I realize its not my capture setting but its the quicktime conversion cause the problem. But ONLY in HD file not SD. SD video is fine and its interlaced.
I have no clue at all. Did Apple has any direct support for users??

    13) Use Oracle hint to guide Oracle Cost based optimizer to choose best plan for your custom queries
    14) Avoid applying SQL functions on index columns
    15) Use appropriate hint to guide Oracle CBO to choose best plan to reduce response time
    Thanks
    Praful

I understand you were trying to post something helpful to people, but sorry, this list is appalling.
    1) Use Bulk Processing feature BULK COLLECT with LIMIT and FOR ALL for DML instead of row by row processing
    No, use pure SQL.
    2) Use Data Caching Technique/Options to cache static data
No, use pure SQL, and the database and operating system will handle caching.
    3) Use Pipe Line Table Functions whenever possible
    No, use pure SQL
    4) Use Global Temporary Table, Materialized view to process complex records
    No, use pure SQL
    5) Try avoiding multiple network trips for every row between two database using dblink, Use Global temporary table or set operator to reduce network trip
    No, use pure SQL
    6) Use EXTERNAL Table to build interface rather then creating custom table and program to Load and validate the data
    Makes no sense.
    7) Understand Oracle's Cost based Optimizer and Tune most expensive SQL queries with help of Explain plan
What about using the execution trace?
    8) Follow Oracle PL/SQL Best Practices
    Which are?
    9) Review tables and their indexes being used in the SQL queries and avoid unnecessary Table scanning
You mean design your database and queries properly?  And table scanning is not always bad.
    10) Avoid costly Full Table Scan on Big Transaction tables with Huge data volume,
It depends if that is necessary or not.
    11) Use appropriate filtration condition on index columns of seeded Oracle tables directly mapped to program parameters
No, consider that too many indexes can have an impact on overall performance and can prevent the CBO from picking the best plan.  There's far more to creating indexes than just picking every column that people are likely to search on; you have to consider the cardinality and selectivity of data, as well as the volumes of data being searched and the most common search requirements.
    12) Review Join condition on existing query explain plan
Well, if you don't have your join conditions right then your query won't work, so that's obvious.
    13) Use Oracle hint to guide Oracle Cost based optimizer to choose best plan for your custom queries
No.  Oracle recommends you do not use hints for query optimization (it says so in the documentation).  Only certain hints such as APPEND etc. which are more related to certain operations such as inserting data etc. are acceptable in general.  Oracle recommends you use the query optimization tools to help optimize your queries rather than use hints.
    14) Avoid applying SQL functions on index columns
Why?  If there's a need for a function based index, then it should be used.
    15) Use appropriate hint to guide Oracle CBO to choose best plan to reduce response time
    See 13.
In short, there are no silver bullets for dealing with performance.  Each situation is different and needs to be evaluated on its own merits.

  • Transfer of Freight Conditions to Billing Document - exchange rate issue

I am having an issue with my freight costs copy to customer billing document and the exchange
rate causing the values to change.
Example - SCD freight = 400 USD, but vendor is being invoiced in BRL (807.44).
The freight is passed to customer billing document, which happens to have local document currency of
EUR, but customer being invoiced in USD.  However the freight is going thru some kind of exchange rate conversion, causing my original 400 USD freight
to show as 414.44 USD on the customer invoice.
I am looking for way to keep the freight from changing between SCD + Customer Billing document.
    Regards
    Rita

Can you share your screens from F-60 involving EUR to USD conversion?
Also, try using transaction EWCT to test conversions between currencies,
you can choose your two currencies that give you the issue, and test by
entering the initial value, seeing the converted value.

  • How to keep MAPI properties when processing message data in RFC822 format in an Exchange Server 2007/2010 transport agent?

We are developing an agent listening for the submit or endOfData event from the Exchange Server. Due to various reasons we need to convert the Exchange Mail
    internally to RFC822 format.
So our MessageProcessor internally converts the message stream (usually TNEF) into RFC822 format. This means when written our modified content back to ‘e.MailItem’
we write the converted content back.
It seems that this conversion causes a loss of some MAPI properties of the message.
When out-of-office-mails are enabled for an account the Exchange Server generates both messages the OOF message for internal recipients and the OOF message external
    recipients.
When sending an internal message using voting buttons the message arrives without that voting information.
    void Agent_OnSubmittedMessage(SubmittedMessageEventSource source, QueuedMessageEventArgs e)
    MessageProcessor proc = new MessageProcessor();
    Stream messageContent = e.MailItem.GetMimeReadStream();
Stream processedMail = proc.ProcessExchangeMessage(messageContent); // internally converts the message to RFC822
    Stream writeStream = e.MailItem.GetMimeWriteStream();
    processedMail.CopyToStream(writeStream);
We also tried a dirty „hack“ using the Exchange Server internal method for converting the message from TNEF to RFC822 “ConvertAnyMimeToMime” from “Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.OutboundConversionOptions”,
but using that method causes the same issue.
Now my idea was cloning all MAPI properties not related to the content of a message and reapply them after writing the RFC822 content back to into e.MailItem.
Any idea how we can overcome our problems?

  • 16:9 sequence becomes 4:3 QT movie

I'm using FCPHD 4.5 with 16:9 DV footage (720x480 anamorphic)
I edit my sequence in FCP in 16:9 (Pixel aspect is NTSC CCIR 601 and Anamorphic is checked) and do an Export/Quicktime Movie (DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic)
I open the resulting file in QT Pro and it is displayed as 4:3.
Same if I open the file in FCP.
I have in the past opened this kind of file and have had it display correctly.
It seems like if I add a filter or text generator, this is when the problem begins. (and won't go away)
    Any ideas?

sad to say but it seems to be a bug in the way FCP writes the file header info, metadata or whatever it is.
In particular, this issue has actually gotten worse from 4.x to 5.x. At least with FCP 4.x, if you exported a QT Movie, then (re)imported it into your project, the clip would be recognized as anamorphic. No such luck in FCP 5.x.
Just so I don't confuse anyone, QT Player never has recognized the anamorphic flag in a QT Movie. That is, File > Export > QuickTime Movie or Final Cut Pro Movie (for those who remember FCP 3). But at least FCP used to. Now even that doesn't happen...
try using MPEG Streamclip ... works a treat. take any 4:3 clip and "Export to Quicktime..." press the Options button and change it to 16:9. let the exporter write the file, and then open it in QT (ta da!) go ahead and open it in FCP too, check the clip properties ... still 4:3 frame size but note that the anamorphic flag is checked
As you're no doubt aware, this mimics the File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion workflow so long as the machine in question has QuickTime 7.1 (down to the ability to select Aspect Ratio and Scan Mode) and results (like QT Conversion) in both QT & FCP recognizing the anamorphic nature of the clip.
Now, I bring all this up (that I know you're aware of) because you state in a few posts that exporting via QT Conversion causes all frames to be recompressed and that's a big no-no. Can you share the basis of that claim?
My understanding is that with QT conversion - so long as the key details (codec, frame rate/size, scan mode, etc) are identical to the settings of your sequence) - no (re)compression takes place. What I've read is that it's essentially the same thing as exporting a self-contained QT movie, except with better metadata information (true display size, associated applications, etc).

  • Oracle support for multiple languages

I have a VB and oracle application. There is a requirement for having spanish language support.
The current character set is US7ASCII and National Character set is AL16UTF16.
After some analysis i thought changing these character sets to UTF8 will be a solution for saving spanish characters.
Can any please help me whether this is correct?
    Thanks in advance

    That's true.
However since you are moving from single-byte character set to multi-bytes, you should be aware of the data truncation problem. that's the dangerous I was talking about.
    Data Truncation
When the database is created using byte semantics, the sizes of the CHAR and VARCHAR2 datatypes are specified in bytes, not characters. For example, the specification CHAR(20) in a table definition allows 20 bytes for storing character data. This is acceptable when the database character set uses a single-byte character encoding scheme because the number of characters is equivalent to the number of bytes. If the database character set uses a multibyte character encoding scheme, then the number of bytes no longer equals the number of characters because a character can consist of one or more bytes.
During migration to a new character set, it is important to verify the column widths of existing CHAR and VARCHAR2 columns because they might need to be extended to support an encoding that requires multibyte storage. Truncation of data can occur if conversion causes expansion of data.

  • Cannot compose or reply using yahoo mail with firefox

I have done everything Yahoo says to do which is FF's solution to my problem, but it does not solve the problem
Yahoo mail works fine with IE & CHROME but with FF 33 & 34 it will not allow me to compose or reply to an email!
And the checkboxes with the icons inside have been there for MANY versions.
Sad that I will have to switch to Chrome or IE

I am suddenly having this problem with not being able to
    reply/forward to (certain Gmail conversations).
Now using, Mac OS 10.5.8 and experienced the presence of this issue with Firefox 3.6.10. AND 3.6.13 but not with Beta 4.
I have used Safari and the error is not reproducible. This issue is exclusively present to Gmail in FF.
I can confirm that FF config is presently dom.storage.enabled.
I have started FF in safemode, disabled, updated and enabled all plugins and add-ons, restarted FF and desktop many times, the issue is still present in FF 3.6.10/3.6.13.
Only some conversations cause this error. When I click on particular conversations reply/forward tab, the page freezes and the only way to temporarily resolve this, is to click the refresh icon as F5 will not work.
It does not freeze the whole
FF browser, just the window with Gmail.
I need a fix as FF is my primary browser.
    Thanks in advance! :-)

  • Direct Database Request - Incorrect Column Data type

    Hello All -
hope you can help with this. I'm using the Direct Database Request in Oracle BI to send a complex query directly to our data warehouse. My problem is that the result columns containing my measures are converted to integer by Oracle BI when they should be double. The integer conversion causes decimal values to be rounded, reading to incorrect results in my reports. I've tried several tweeks to my query in an attempt to allow OBIEE to make the correct guess on the data type but nothing has worked.
Is there a way to force OBIEE to recognize the correct data type for a column in a Direct Database Request Query?
Thanks in advance for you help!
    Mac

    Thank you both.
David's response was helpful from a style/readability perspective (the columns in question were complex expressions) but I had already attempted the approach and it hadn't solved the formatting issue. Nico's response solved the problem.
