BSI TaxFactory 8.0 server sizing guide?

My company is installing BSI TaxFactory 8.0 for the first time on an AIX / Oracle platform.
Is there a server sizing guide for how CPU and memory usage I need to plan for when payroll is running? I realize it will vary based on number of employees.
The only thing I can find on SAP Service Marketplace and BSI's web site is how much database space it requires (approx 2 gig).
I've read all the notes; including 1064089 - Installing TaxFactory 8.0, but not as an upgrade.
Our Basis Team Lead doesn't want it installed on the SAP Oracle db server.
Thanks in advance,
Mark Perrey

Mark :
If you're talking about BSI executable (i.e. tf80server.ksh for AIX / UNIX environment), this should be on the drive accessible by all SAP applications/db servers so it could be executed indepently of which server user is loggin on (due to load balance).
If you're talking about BSI database, I don't see any issues with having this on the same SAP ORACLE dbase server (whether same instance or not). BSI dbase is relatively small (around 70 tables), and I would imagine database resource is probably minimum as most of the tax calucations are probaly done at the BSI application level.

• Work Manager 6.1 Sizing Guide Query

Hi,
Looking at the official Work Manager 6.1 sizing guide and comparing it to the Work Manager 6.0 guide and it seems there has been a large jump in the suggested hardware for SMP.
I understand the WM6.0 runs on SMP 2.3 and WM6.1 is on SMP 3.0, but I'm surprised that the difference seems so large.
E.g. For a medium landscape with 1000 syncs/hour:
Work Manager / SMP
SMP SAPS (suggested)
Work Manager 6.0
2,000
Work Manager 6.1
55,500
Could someone clarify why this would be?
Thanks,
Stephen

The Sizing Document has been updated for the SMP Server and appear to be much more reasonable.
The SAP ABAP & DB Server recommondations are still the same and don't seem right.
E.g
Large Data Volume & 2000 syncs/hr
SAP DB Server - 393,500 SAPS
SAP ABAP Server - 127,500 SAPS
From the Sizing benchmarks an IBM Server with 271,080 SAPS has 8 Processors / 120 Cores / 1TB of RAM
Cheers,

• Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Remote FTPrepository Sizing Guide

Can anyone provide a link to a sizing guide for remote FTP repository for backing up Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 to a remote FTP server?

A personal observation; In PI 1.1, with the small ova we were running around 300 AP's and I had noticable slowness and issues. At that time, TAC mentioned that I should go with the medium as it was a known problem Now, despite being on 1.2 and alot of the issues resolved (and now new ones), if faced with the need to start over and I could spare the hardware, I would still go with the medium. My personal opinion is that Cisco VM's require way to much. On the other hand, knowing that it's relying on a built in Oracle DB, which from my experience with virtual servers, databases in VM = bad, it's understandable. Not everyone agrees with this point from vm gurus to db geniuses, and I'm not a professional vm guy, just play one on tv, but personally i shove as much hardware as I can afford from my host at it if it's a db in a vm. This comes from being in an enterprise with multiple oracle db's in multiple vm environments. My 2cents.

• Server Sizing

Hi
1. How i have to do do server sizing ? Is there any books or LINKS which
guide us to do the sizing ?
Thanks in Advance

Actually, the things you need to consider for sizing aren't JUST the number of users, but also their mail habits.
If you're POP only, then storage size isn't so important, as POP users download and delete all their mails.
IMAP/Webmail users keep mail on the server.
You need to consider how many messages per day they send and receive, how large those messages are, and how many of your users connect at one time.
Neither Shane nor I are really expert with sizing. We're Support folks, and our experience is mostly fixing broken servers. The folks that do sizing are our sales engineers. They have access to the spreadsheets and such that we don't

• SOD violation as per sizing guide

Hi All,
I have a query regarding sizing for GRC server. As per sizing guide, there are few inputs like total roles and total users in system landscape, which are to be connected to GRC and total violations during per peak hour etc.
I want to know what violation count means in this context -
Is it SOD violation before GRC implementation occuring in system?
Or is it SOD voilation count when GRC is established and we assume that either most of the risks are mitigated and / or remediations are done.
Does this count SATs as well?
Thanks & Regards,
Sabita

Hi Experts,
Please excuse me for re-opening this message. Our client wants clear understaning on sizing and I want confirmation before I can convince them.
Here are my queries-
1. When we do sizing for RAR, what activities are covered under " Daily Transactional Sizing per hour". We do incremental Sync and Batch risk Analysis, but they run in nights when system is less loaded. So what does it mean"during peak hour"? What else are under transactional sizing-do webservice calls from ERM or CUP are included in it and does Alert Monitor job also falls under it?
2. What does it mean voilations in context of Risk Analysis? Does it mean actual violations in daily backend transactions or it is only voilations based upon Role/User authorizations? What kind of voilation it includes-permission level all line items(like ME21N ACTVT 01, 02, 03 are 4 voilations or it is only one for one risk?
3. Under which criteria or parametr should we do sizing for Adhoc risk analysis ( run from Informer tab) .
4. There is parameter for "initial load" in RAR and CUP. We would like to know why there are two parameters for "initial load" and "daily transactional". They may overlap for sizing purpose because when we do initial it means system is not ready to perform daily tasks. And when we say " Transactional" it means initial load is done. So in this case, the SAPS used in initial load is released for daily transactional task.
Thanks in advace.

• Is there any sizing guide line for Coherence ?

Is there any sizing guide line for Coherence ?

Thanks Robert! It appears we could make a concession and work with unicast UDP (and TCP). Multicast needs to be turned off as leaving it enable has been known to flood our networks and needs to be avoided at all cost.
We are looking for an option to have "the lowest guaranteed delivery of data and events" with consistent low latency so we need a smart use of the available network bandwidth... (general overview goal).
That brings me to the next three topics I am trying to really better understand: serialization options, cache server heap sizes, and scalability boundaries.
Heap Sizes -- It has been suggested in the forums to use 1024m cache server heap sizes (so gc pauses are low enough to "provide" consistent low latencies), and, have 75% of the heap for actual object storage... What are the largest CS heap sizes in production, 4GB, in a 64-bit platform?
Serialization -- I am trying com.tangosol.io.ExternalizableLite and I am interested in quantifying possible gains (i.e. CPU, network bandwidth, storage size impact). Anybody tried their own serialization with better results than ExternalizableLite?
Scalability -- Let's say I go with 1024m CS heap sizes, and my 800 clients (growing rapidly to x4 x6), I will probably end very quickly with a significant amount of cache members. Coherence uses their own "P2P" implementation for their cache topologies (TCMP), right?.. What is the realistic limit in terms of maximum cache member number in a Coherence Cluster? Not sure many clusters connected together can provide the latency/data consistency performance scalable use cases need. Anybody can comment on that (with realistic numbers please). Any benchmarks available with 1,000, 2,000, or 4,000+ members?
Thanks

• Query regarding server sizing

HI Everyone
If anybody can tell me the url or if anyone can send me the document regarding Server Sizing on AIX5.2 server it would be really helpful.
Points will be awarded for helpful answers.
Regards
Rajeev.

Dear Rajeev,
To avoid problems with undersized/oversized hardware, please make a difference between minimum product requirements, which are usually described in the product availability matrix or the installation guide, and the runtime requirements related to concrete load usage (number of concurrent users, size of objects and so on).
It is highly recommended not to only consider the minimum hardware requirements recommendation, but to as early as possible determine the runtime requirements by using the
SAP Quick Sizer http://service.sap.com/quicksizer and the documents which are provided under http://service.sap.com/sizing -> Sizing Guidelines.

• BSI TaxFactory Upgrade from 8.0 to 9.0

During December 2010 we have applied HR61 Support pack to our ERP6.0 System
which is currently at stack-17. ( SAP_BASIS 700 SAPKB70021, SAP_ABA 700 SAPK70021 ...)
We are in the process of upgrading BSI TaxFactory from version 8.0 to 9.0. When I refer the "SAP Note 1456418 - BSI TaxFactory 9.0 - Phase I" which says apply required support packs "SAP HRCUS" and "ER-HRCUS"
Currently we are having the following Copponents
SAP-HR 600 SAPKE60061
SAP-HRCUS 600 SAPK-60061INSAPHRCUS
EA-HRCUS 603 SAPK-60327INEAHRCUS
"EA-HR 603 SAPK-60327INEAHR"
The aboove components have been applied during Dec 2010 HR61 support pack upgrade
I do not know whether I need to apply this component EA-HRCUS 603 SAPK-60335INEAHRCUS before BSI TaxFactory 9.0 upgrade. If so I need to apply the pre-requisite of EA-HRCUS 603 SAPK-60335INEAHRCUS which is EA-HR SAPK-60331INEAHR.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Bentow,
Thank you so much for the information. Subsequenty I have created a customer message and understand that we need to upgrade the support pack as per the note 1456418 as integration with TaxFactory 9.0 are delivered in these support packages. So in order to use TaxFactory 9.0 I need to apply required support packs mentioned in SAP Note 1456418.
Thanks a lot

• Oracle Server Sizing

Hello.
I'm looking for some advice on server sizing.
I currently work a small/medium sizing manufacturing company. We are currently using a mix of different versions of FoxPro (cringe) and are in the process of planning an upgrade path to Oracle.
We have about 10-15gb of corporate data in foxpro tables and have roughly 50 users, probably only 15-30 concurrently accessing data at any given point during the day.
We have 3 data entry staff who would do the bulk of the transactions, the remaining users sporadically query the data sporadically throughout the day.
It's very hard for me to determine querires per minute though, but I would guess it's easily under 500 per minute (that's at least double what I really think it is)
I am hoping to run Oracle 10g Standard Edition on Linux or Windows.
Can anybody offer me some advice to what type of hardware I will require?
I am hoping to be able to run:
Single P4 or AMD64 in the 3GHz+ range
2Gb+ RAM
RAID 5, 3 x 36GB, 15000RPM disks (possibly 1 online spare)
We aren't a big company, so Oracle licensing cost is a major factor as to which direction we plan for - a multi processor version of Oracle 10g is many times more expensive than a single processor edition.
What hardware would you recommend?

You're probably more in the 10g Standard Edition One camp ($5,000 per CPU for a perpetual license) than just a plain Standard Edition ($15,000 per CPU for a perpetual license) since you're not going to be using servers that support more than 2 CPU's.
Without knowing more about exactly how expensive the queries are (i.e. whether you have users periodically looking up the list of widgets that go into a particular product or whether you have users looking through years of past history, aggregating sales by quarter, by region, and by 14 other dimensions), I'd wager that a single CPU box with 2 GB of RAM would be more than enough. If you anticipate growing quickly in the next few years, it might make sense to buy a machine that was capable of running 2 CPU's with only 1 installed right now.

• DMS server sizing calculation

HI Gurus,
My client has given that Finance department is generating documents around 20 GB per month (includes all types of format) now i have to create the Server sizing for this 20 GB kindly help on how to proceed. Is there is any standard calculation for this.
Regards
Kannan

Recommended approach for managing Finance documents is SAP Archivelink solution(refer previous posts in forum).
Content server sizing is a separate exercise that you need to carry out in conjunction with your Basis team and the customer. Capture details along parameters like Office/Plant from where docs would be accessed, the available network bandwidth, number of users, number of transactions per day, maximum size of a single file, number of documents generated/day that would be uploaded and the growth plan for the next 3 years.Once done, the Basis team will provide you with details like CPU,RAM,OS,bandwidth and hard disk space that would be needed from which the cost can be calculated.

Hi
What is AFAIK? As Far As I Know
Can you send the contact info?Unless you're not living in the same country (please see my profile), I don't think it would make any sense. I do know that hp.at offers sizing information.
If you are refering to Just HP support I did contact
