BSOD after closing Itunes (newest version, also older versions) error: Reference by pointer 0x000000018
Every time I close Itunes I get a BSOD in windows vista ultimate 64bit error I get in BSOD : Reference by pointer error code 0x000000018.
Looked for dumpfile but no dumpfile created.
Allready uninstalled Itunes and all apple software following some tips I found on the internet in correct order, reinstalled same problem occurs.
I believe it must have to do something with apple mobile device software, but when I remove that software Itunes can't find the mobile devices
anymore.
Guys,
I'm in the same boat, close iTunes 11.0.4.4 and BSOD. When it is open everything is fine!
Running Vista
I'm good with computers....but not at the level that know what the message means.
Can you offer any help? Is this the same problem you are having?
Cheers
Steve

Has anyone else lost their scroll bars after downloading the newest version of IOS?
What does the iPhone/iPad OS have to do with Mavericks?
Mavericks does remove the scroll bars as they are not needed, but you can set them to show always in the General System Prefs. -

Cant install iTunes, newest version
Ok I just got an Ipod nano for my birthday and I can not install iTunes.
This is the error that pops up.
Could not set file security for file 'C:\documents and settings\All Users\ Application Data\Apple Computer\itunes\sc info\'. Error: 112. Verify that you have sufficient privleges to modify the security permissions for this file.
I dont know what to do. My wife has an iPod as well, but mine had to use the newest version. so I tried to just update the one we had and the same message popped up. I uninstalled the program and tried to install the newer version but it still has the same message. I am choked that I probably didnt have to uninstall, but if someone could help me with this that would be awesome.I have a similar problem I cannot install itunes properly from the bundled latest QuickTime/iTunes download with WinXPPro. The install gets as far as "registering modules" then goes into suspension. I use Task Manager to get out but that does not close the install which stays in suspension. Out of this QuickTime does install properly but not iTunes which seems to open only reluctantly after a long delay, with an error message that registry is not configured properly for cd recording etc, nor does it recognise my ipod. To uninstall and start over I have to reboot because the installation program is still running in the background. I have downloaded QuickTime without itunes 7 which installs OK but I can't find a stand-alone version of iTunes 7.x to try. Why is the latest version of iTunes only available bundled with QuickTime? I have downloaded and installed iTunes 6.5 successfully, but that is not compatible with the latest ipods. I have gone through all the steps suggested on the Apple support pages but with no success. How do I get up and going with my new ipod???

After closing iTunes 6 it's still hogging CPU
I had no problems installing the latest iTunes 6 and Quicktime. It all looked as if it was running OK.
However I noticed that each time I closed iTunes my PC (P4 2.4ghz/1024Mb RAM/XP Home SP2) was running extremely slow.
Using Task Manager, I looked at the CPU usage - YIKES - iTunes.exe was still there hogging between 50 to 99%. I'm having to kill this process manually to sort this.
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to fix it, as it's a bit of a pain having to do this each time!!I've about 1100 albums in my library - I wonder if it's doing some sort of maintenance process after closing - and because of the size of the library it's taking this amount of time?
hmmmm. i believe that itunes updates the itl file on close-down ... but it's a bit of a mystery why it would be making such a meal of it in your case.
starting to check through odd possibilities, now. does that PC have dual cores or processors? if so, perhaps check to see if you've got a variation of this issue (it hits imports as well, so i wouldn't be entirely suprised if it was also hitting some other library-related functions):

So I got a brand new iPhone 4 from a Sprint retailer, and it came with the software that was available at the time of the release. I left it that way for a while and put music on it through iTunes (latest version as of 11/20/2012) with no problems. Then I updated the software on the iPhone to iOS6.0.1 and when i tried to put music on it through iTunes like normal the songs showed up in the library of the iPhone (still on the computer) however they were grey and they had a syncing symbol to the left as if it were still syncing the music. I waited and waited but it would not go away. then I clicked the arrow at the middle top of iTunes where it shows you what song is playing and everything else iTunes is doing, and it did not say that it was syncing the music like normal. Basically the library indicated the music was still syncing but iTunes was not putting it on. I currently have it set to manually manage music. I do not want to switch it to automatically sync or reset my iPhone because I will lose my information. Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated!
When I went to restore my phone, I may have found the cause of these problems. I never deleted all of my original synced songs before enabling iTunes Match.
When I just went to do the restore, I figured I'd delete all of my songs, then disable iTunes Match. After deleting about 3.5 GB of music and disabling iTunes Match, I ran the sync to backup my iPhone. It said there was still 2.2 GB of music. I checked my phone just in case and there was 2.2 GB there, probably the original synced songs that I never removed.
Anyway, I'm doing the restore now just in case and will respond tomorrow with how everything is working. -
Itunes Newest Version no Photo Tabs
So I downloaded the latest version of Itunes and I tried to sync my photos to my ipod and the tab for Photos isn't even there. I look in preferences for the sources and it wasnt even in there. I can not find the option to add photos or sync or anything related to photos in the newest version of itunes as the picutre below shows.
Go to full screen. it is there but if you have the window less than max it disappears.

have recently downloaded the newest version of firefox. after installing i am happy to say i am pleased with the new look and features etc though for some reason i am unable to open new tabs as before.
i now have to right click on bookmarks or favorites and select open in a new tab to do so, rather than simply clicking on the new tab button..If the problem turns out to be the "New Tabs at the End" extension, there actually is an internal setting for this that you could use instead.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''tabs''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent''' preference to switch it from true to false. That's it. -
Ipod appears corrupted after closing Itunes while playing
I was just finishing loading several new albums onto my ipod and it was playing a song from the ipod. I accidentally closed Itunes. Now my ipod doesn't appear to have anything on it. When I first went back into Itunes and tried to get it to recognize the ipod, it would not recognize it there or in explorer. I tried resetting and now I can see it in Itunes and explorer, but it doesn't show any songs (in explorer, I see folders but I don't see songs files, but I never looked there before so I don't know what to expect). I see at the bottom of Itunes that it had about the right amount of used/unused space, but then when I clicked around, and went back to the ipod folder, it changes every time to show a slightly smaller amount of used space. Please tell me that closing Itunes while playing a song can't totally corrupt the ipod. Or that I don't have to re-rip my 500 cds and reload it. I don't have them all on any computer to just recopy to the ipod.
Also, when I try to 'stop' the ipod for disconnecting, it now says that it cannot be stopped now, try again later. I'm worried that if I unplug it now that it will damage it further.
Windows XP ProOK, let me make sure i have this correct. you closed your itunes while a song was playing on your ipod on computer? also, When you reopened itunes, the pod was recognized, correct? What did you click around on, because that could change your space. What is the Ipod doing that you need to stop? I suggest don't unplug, becuase your correct, you have a chance that it could damage further. sory for so many q's but i just need to get the story straight to help ya. theo

In both instances I am connected to the internet and there are no problems gaining access to other sites. Can any one help please . Thank you.update - after searching for a updated driver via Toshiba Corp and finding one I can now gain access to the Itunes store etc .

I have read a little and something about iTunes Match... I'm not about to spend $24.99 just to delete some songs off of the cloud.
Go to Settings > Music and make sure "Show All Music" is off. Then only actually downloaded music will be displayed. With it on, you can see all your music stored in the Cloud as well. That music will always be in the Cloud (until such time as you download it) but it isn't present on your device.

Quick tips
*Reboot computer, connect iPhone again and see if it shows up in iTunes
*Connect iPhone to the different USB Ports to see if another port provides more power to the iPhone to allow it to be seen in iTunes
*Download and Update all Windows updates and computer updates from computer manufacture
*Try not to connect iPhone to a USB Hub, Keyboard USB connection, or USB Extended cable
