BSOD issues with Z68A-GD55 (B3): BIOS issue? Hardware issue? Voltage issue?

Built this PC two months ago and have had issues.  This is the message posted on the BIOS section:

I have the z68-gd55 (b3).  I built this PC bout two months ago.  Awhile after the build, started getting BSODs during gaming and eventually was led here to flash a new BIOS.  I flashed the latest beta BIOS successfully and played for several hours.  Then sleep the pc but get a BSOD again when powering it back up.  The BCCode indicates an issue with the GPU or driver but I have read on that there was a problem in the BIOS  for the z68-gd65 (g3) that the voltage was off and needed to be set differently to accommodate

@Junior, all three BIOS' that I tested, the BCLK is shown as 100 in the BIOS but once in the OS it applies 98. I have now set the base freq manually 10010 and that applies 100,2 BCLK once in the OS. Needs to be fixed.
The multi is still artificially restricted at X49.
DRAM auto apply voltage is 1,472 in the BIOS. I set it manually to 1,5V (1,507V) to prevent BSOD. Rebooting, the BIOS still shows applied DRAM voltage as 1,472 although 1,507 is applied. Need to do some DMM tests.
CPU phase control on the latest BIOS works correctly in Intel SVID Mode with the LEDs being lit solidly from 1 to 6 as the load is applied.
Selecting APS results in either the first 3 LEDs being lit or all 6 LEDs being lit, nothing in between.
Has this been an issue in this boards BIOS too?  Thanks because short of RMAing parts, I am about at a loss as to what to do to fix these issues.
This started with screen freezes needing hard restart using the restart button while playing Dragon Age:Origin and continued with Battlefield p4f, and BF3.  After reseating the CPU/cooler, RAM, GPU then updating the drivers using Live Update 5 and then manually updating; I started getting BSODs and restarts while playing games and several time while using 3D Mark.  Tried to change the voltage for the DRAM with no help and loaded only the Default Optimized Settings in BIOS.  I updated the BIOS to the listing in my signature, moved the HDD and Optical drive to different SATA ports and updated the audio driver to the current one on MSI website.  System finally seemed to be running fine then the stuff happened as quoted form my previous post.
As this stuff has continued, the PC seems to be running slower and slower.  What I mean by that is the boot times have started taking longer and the system does not respond as quickly to commands.  Like now, as I type, I am at least two or three words ahead of what is put on the screen (never has done that before).  Funny thing about that is this was the fastest computer I have ever had with response, booting, and post (my wife even commented on how fast it booted up).  Not sure if the other issues have anything to do with this but I am trying to post everything I can think of to give all the necessary info.  If more information is needed then let me know and possibly tell me where to find it?
Not really sure how to post the dump files from Blue Screen View and My Event Viewer but gladly would if someone can give a newbie some direction on this.  Thanks in advance for all help and consideration.

Yes, the BIOS I have flashed was pulled from there.  I thought it had the problem resolved until it had another BSOD after several hours of use.
The Stop:error code, is that the Bug Check Code from the Blue Screen Viewer?

  • Did MSI alter Vcore settings with Z68A-GD55 (B3) BIOS 25.6 update?

You'll have to excuse me, as I've been away from motherboard/BIOS/OC stuff for a while...
I built my current computer about a year ago with a Z68A-GD55 (B3) and i5-2500K. After some initial OC experimentation, I found a sweet spot and have been running absolutely solid @ 4.5GHz Turbo with BIOS 22.4 for that year.
I recently made the upgrade to the latest 25.6 BIOS. Before doing so, I painstakingly took snapshots of all my settings before the upgrade, then performed the upgrade and re-entered all the settings to what they had been. Once booted into Windows, the system bluescreened after login.
I went back into the BIOS and immediately noticed that the CPU core voltage that I had been setting (1.325v) was no longer delivering the expected current voltage (it had been showing current voltage of '1.320V', but with BIOS 25.6, it now showed '1.288V'.)
Not really sure what else to do, I ratcheted up the CPU voltage until it more or less matched the old 1.320V, but it required that I now set the CPU core voltage to 1.36V to achieve that (.035V higher than before). It seems to have resolved the bluescreening for now.
    So, my questions are:
    1. Am I doing the right thing to achieve the stability I previously had?
    2. Is a change in core voltage setting and readings from BIOS 22.4 to 25.6 to be expected?
    3. Am I actually using up more power under this new BIOS to do the same thing as before?
Thanks in advance for any help or insight you can provide,
    Gordo

Does the ME8 firmware form part and parcel of the BIOS on the MSI website ?  Does the ME7 firmware form part and parcel of the BIOS that you attached ? Does the BIOS flash install the ME8 or the ME7 firmware respectively when using the forum flasher to flash the BIOS versions on the MSI site ?  That was the question.
Your answer was yes, and I believe that suffices.

Each BIOS version, carry on the co-respond ME versions that's required by this BIOS to runs properly.
When we flash with those special BIOS archives, its performed full BIOS update include the proper ME version which is part of  BIOS file ver.

    Help me plz

So you are using the Adjust CPU ratio on the second line of the OC settings of the BIOS ?
Suggest you do a CMOS clear, then,
In the BIOS disable EuP2013 and Spread Spectrum.
Go right to the bottom of the OC Settings page and select the CPU specifications. This will open a sub-page.
Adjust the core ratios here. Leave the turbo boost enabled
Leave all voltages on Auto for now. In that sub page also disable OverSpeed protection.
    Save and reboot.
    Test and advise.

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

Are there any known issues with Adobe Edge Animate and Yosemite? Experiencing performance issues since upgrading OS. Animation I was working on that had been performing in browser fine suddenly stopped working, and was not related to any action I had done at that point. Also was working in it today and program stopped responding to key board short cut commands.

I am having a whole slew of odd interface problems with a fresh 2014.1.1 on a fresh macbook pro with latest Yosemite. Program locks up, cursor selections don't show, things disappear. I have a mac mini also and the program runs fine on it. Is there possibly something related to the solid state hard drive in new macs?

  • K8T Neo2 issues with 2004/9/24 Bios

    Hi there.
I´ve upgraded my k8T Neo2 with the 2004/9/24 an am having now stability issues with my FX 53 due to inproper fan speed control.
I have no clue how the fan control works in this Mobo because my observations are really strange. The CPU is now always reaching 70 C and more under load and the fan control seems not to be able to get it keeped cooler. Tried several CPU coolers but it´s always the same.
If my case is closed, the fan control seems to work and is incrasing the RPMs of my coolers, but having the case opened the RPMs stay at the same level like on Idle.
However, in both situations the temperature is growing up to 70C and more which results in instabilities at this high temps.
So before you ask me. I´ve of course upgraded to the latest Core Center too, but it´s the same if it´s either loaded or not, so it´s the Bios if you ask me.
Also, had not these troubles with the previous Bios.
All I can say now is that the fan speed isn´t regulated by the CPU temperatutre but something else and it´s not calibrated to support hotter running FX CPUs, though the previous Bios obviously was.
Last but not least, Cool´n Quiet is also working now under Win2k, but the Legacy USB support isn´t completely fixed.
I can´t boot neither Win2k nor WInXP with it enabled.

The system was set up last week, so everything is up to date, also the AMD drivers.
However, the Bios date code is in the topic header  (2004/9/24).
It was updated yesterday and since then the CPU isn´t cooled correctly, neither with the Boxed Cooler, nor a Thermaltake Silent Boost or a Zalman CNPS-7000B. No matter the case is closed or opened.
There is also no problem with the Cool´n Quiet driver or the Cool´n Quiet support anymore. There was just a problem under Win2k and the Bios the Mobo came with, but that´s fixed now with the newest Bios, exept the fan control that is working now incorrectly.
Don´t remember right now the date code of the previous Bios, but it was the first release and there the fan control worked correctly, so my Athlon 64 FX 53 didn´t heat up as much as now and got no stability problems, simply because it was always kept below the 70ties.
I don´t think the rest of my rig is of any importance because connecting the coolers to an other surce than the CPU FAN Header and so running them at full speed, doesn´t cause my CPU to become unstable as it doesn´t reach this high temperatures.
That´s the only problem I´m having now. Everything else is rock stable and up to date.
What´s about the Leagcy USB support not allowing me to boot the OS´s, I can live with that though it would be nice to get that fixed too.
So to be more specific. With the previous Bios the fan control kicked in earlier,  way before the temperature reached 70C. Now it kicks in much later. Somwhere in the middle of the 70ties. To late for my FX 53.
So to speak with the previous Bios the fan control kicked in before the CPU reached the critical temperature and incrased the RPMs at least so far, that the CPU was cooled down to the 60ies. Now it´s just keeping the temperature at the reached level (73-74C ).
All I want is to get this fixed or even better to add an option into the Bios to select the temperature where the fan control kicks in and incrases the fan speed to keep the CPU temperature at the level you selected.

  • Problems with Z68a-gd55 g3 and msi 660 gtx oc ed.

Bought the 660gtx card last week and have been pulling my hair since.. been getting the no post problem with the new card as some other ppl here I see.
from what I gather it's a bios update which is making the combo of these cards to work properly the msi liveupdate took me up to n.70 and that didn't help after reading a couple of posts here i found out about the beta updates for my bios.
Beeing a bit new when it comes to flashing I thought I'd make myself sure at what update to use.
In another post the tip was using .n88 is it still the best to use?

yes it's sandy bridge however I seem to do something wrong with the bios update. using the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool and ran it got the .n88 on there set the bios to boot from it, got a press any key to boot from usb key then it shoot directly to win logo and starts windows.
Running the usb flashing tool program again and it says I got the BIOS Version: VN.8B8 (aka Version: V23.8B8) and a restart later it reverts back to BIOS Version: VN.7 (aka Version: V23.7)
First time I shut down windows after it started and did a clearcmos.
I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong.
Might as well post my system while I'm at it.
    System is:
    MSI Z68A-GD55 G3
    Intel core I5 1155
    2x4gb Corsair DDR3 1600
MSI Geforce 660GTX 2GB Twin frozr
    320GB WD Caviar
Fractal design Newton R2 650W Modular
almost forgot second time I tried I updates as before and didn't do a clearcmos just turned off the computer plugged the 660 gtx in and started this time I got 2 beeps from mainboard then nothing. then silence for a while then two beeps again until I turned off the computer put my old 250 gts back in and the bois had reverted back to VN.7 again.
without the update and the 660 gtx the update fans  running hd runs a bit then nothing btw.

  • PLEASE HELP! Restarting issue with K8N SLI. need bios help???

      Hi people,
I would really appreciate some help this this problem im having. It’s a bit long winded but ill try to keep it short.
My pcs spec is as follows –
MSI K8N SLI (model MS-7185) motherboard
    AMD Athlon X2 64bit 4200+ cpu
    4 x 512mb ram
Running with a Radeon X700 256mb graphics card.
Ever since I purchased the machine ive been having problems with the pc loading up XP (or any OS for that matter!). Sometimes it would freeze on the loading screen and sometimes it would freeze on the black screen just after the loading screen.  Sometimes while running windows perfectly normally, a blue screen with writing describing the error came up and then the system restarted, however, I would only ever manage to read the title of the blue screen as the pc restarted so quickly. I remember seeing the word hardware though,  so I guessed it was a serious hardware issue. I lived with this for a few months thinking it might be something im doing that’s making it be so unreliable, such as a software issue, but I recently went on a mission to sort it out. The BIOS of the motherboard was password protected and I wasn’t aware of this until I had lost contact with who I had bought the system off, so I decided to restart the motherboard’s settings by pressing the reset button on the board itself. Next time I booted it up it told me that the defaults were restored etc and continued to boot windows, however now I can hardly get windows to start at all, the system restarts on the loading screen 8 times out of 10, and if it does boot up fully then it doesn’t last long before crashing on me. I messed about with a few of the BIOS settings, but to be honest I have no experience with working with these settings, its all very new to me. I have an idea  that it could be the processor or the graphics card causing the problem, just an inkling though!
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you. Adam

  • Dual boot issues with P67A-GD55 (B3)

Set up a dual boot and from a cold start now the system boots directly into the default OS even though I have it set to display the options for 15 seconds. When this happens I do a soft reset and then the 2 OS choices are there. This is on the 1.C BIOS (latest). Would expect to always see the 2 OS choices on cold boot as well.

yes, I have several HDDs and an SSD. The 2 OSs are on the SSD. The original OS was on the SSD then I created free space on the SSD and installed another OS. I set the original OS as the default and the newer OS as the secondary. The SSD is now and always has been the primary boot disk in BIOS. Again, it's an easily repeatable issue, upoon cold boot there is no option of OS displayed, it just boots right into the default OS. If I reboot then I see the 2 OSs.

Do you have more than one hard drive ? Did your boot priority change in the BIOS after your BIOS flash ? If so, change it back to the HDD/partition where you initially created the dual boot.

  • Virtu Control Panel issue with Z68A-GD80

    Hello,
I am a reviewer for PC Labs (http://www.pclabs.com.tr) and I've been evaluating the Virtu software for some time now. I have the following problem:
This error shows up whenever I try to start Virtu. If I click Yes, it just pops up again, infinitely. If I press No, Virtu quits.
Yes, I read the Virtu installation guide section
Motherboard BIOS is the latest. I'd been trying the previous ones as well.
As stated in the manual; I first installed Intel HD Graphics 3000 drivers, then added the discrete VGA card, let Windows install the drivers, then installed Virtu
I also tried all possible combinations of driver installation with and without Windows Update - manually installed VGA driver from AMD, let Windows install HD Graphics 3000 driver, etc.
I tried multiple versions of Virtu; from MSI download site, from Virtu directly, etc.
Re-installed Windows and done the same, no luck
    Here's the rig:
    - MSI Z68A-GD80 motherboard with most recent BIOS update available at the date of this post.
    - Intel Core i7-2600K processor
    - Radeon HD 6870 discrete card
    - 4 GB Kingston DDR3-2000 (also tried with Kingston HyperX DDR3-2133)
    - Seagate ST3250410AS & Kingston 120 GB SSD
    - Thermaltake Toughpower 875 W PSU
    - Windows 7 64 bits with SP1
    Any ideas?

    Two related questions for clarification:
Which version do you have exactly?
    ---> http://eu.msi.com/service/search/?kw=Z68A-GD80%20&type=product
    ... B3 or G3?
Which version is that exactly? (Exact version ID)
The version will be different, depending on the motherboard variant you have.
In addition to that, there are always BETA and Final Releases.  In case you are referring to the latest Final Release, an even never BETA Release might already be available which does not appear on the board's product site.
The board is a B3. 7672 Ver. 3.0 exactly. As for the driver & application versions:
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 was tested with drivers from MSI and also from Intel. At the time I started this topic, the installed driver was 12.22.1.64.2361 (8.15.10.2361).
    - AMD drivers tested (with Radeon HD 6870) were 11.6, 11.7 and finally, 11.8.
    - Virtu software versions tested were: First was from MSI (can't remember the version number right now), 1.2.105, 1.2.106 from LucidLogix
    - Motherboard BIOSes tested were: Initial BIOS (2011-04-25 date), 17.1 (7672vH1 ROM, date 2011-05-30) and for the time being, 17.2 (7672vH2 ROM, date 2011-07-18).

In the Virtu Control Panel, 'About' Tab, does the Virtu version appear, or does it say Trial Version?
Added: After reading & following the MSI Software Application Guide v1.3, & using the Virtu drivers off the install disk that came with the mainboard, I had flawless performance using Virtu. My mainboard was shipped with the initial UEFI release (17.0 for a B3). The Lucid Virtu license key was enabled right from the beginning.
The Virtu Control Panel never shows up. When the system boots up and I login to Windows, the error message I mentioned is shown. Clicking "Yes" results in the same error; clicking No quits Virtu. The same happens when I manually start the Virtu Control Panel app.
MSI SW App. Guide and software from the install disk didn't work for me. :( I don't think it's the Virtu license key because Virtu is actually *active*. I do get the Virtu logo on 3DMark Vantage (and possibly other 3D apps registered to Virtu) and get discrete card class results from the benchmark in i-Mode. Besides, I believe Virtu software doesn't mean to say my license key is missing. Please see below.
You could make it, then I'd like to ask you a favor. There should be two files in a LucidLogix folder, located in your User directory:
    Code: [Select]
    {Your_Drive_Name}:\Users\{Your_UserName}\LucidLogix
The files are lucidloader.ini and userSettings.xml.
Could you post those two? As far as I could deduce, there shouldn't be any personal information in those files. Just general settings and application profiles. The error seems to stem from a disrepancy between these two files. The software seems to look for some "keys" from the XML file (where settins and app. profiles are stored as "keys" like <key>KeyName</key>. I'll attach my files a few minutes later. Check the userSettings file; around the end of the file, you'll see the word "general". My bet is on that one.
Of course, while I quoted HU16E, Jack and anyone else interested is welcome in this discussion.

  • Issue with Std price & Overheads at the time of goods issue

    Hi Experts,
Please help me on below concern.
system is taking the std price at the time of goods issue as we marked price control "S" for all materials to track the PPV seperately. So once we run the std costing system is calculating the std cost= direct material+overheads and updating the same in std price in accounting 1 tab.
But as per our requirement at the time of goods issue system has to take only direct material not overheads,  also one more problem is at the time of actual overheads calculation in the period end , system is calculating overheads on total of direct material+overheads instead of direct material only.
So please suggest how to config the system to meet my client's requirement.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Spandana.

    Hi Ajay,
Thanks for your inputs.  In the std costing run system is showing components as below.
    Material cost       110$
    Material overheads  10$
    Labor cost  20$
    Labor Overheads 10$
In this Material cost 110$ , materials overheads also included(100$+10$). Why system is calculating Material overheads twice please suggest what mistake i did.
The material overhead percentage rate is 10%.
As per my client requirement system should calculate components as shown below
    Material cost 100$
    Material overheads 10$
    Labor cost  20$

  • Issue with non-english application in thin client - virtual directory issue

    Hi,
I have just completed Siebel 8 installation on solaris machine along with SunOne Web server 6.1.
I have installed both ENU and ARA language packs for Siebe Enterprise, Sweapps.
The issue is after installation and repository installation for both ENU and ARA, I am able to open only ENU applications in thin client.
When I try to open the ARa applications the browser gives "Page not found" error.
I have verified first, whether the Siebel components running or not. Confirmed that for example for Callcenter SCCObjMgr_ara component is active and online.
But what I observed is, in SUNOne web server instance's config folder, there is a file obj.conf.
In this file there are entries for only enu applications like,
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/callcenter_enu" dir="/siebelapp/sweapp/public/enu"
There are no links for ARA applications.
I think this could be the reason for issue.
But while installing and configuring sweapps, I have selected the logical profile location as "/siebelapp/gtwysrvr/admin/Webserver".
So this should create such links in obj.conf for ARA as it created for ENU apps. But it didn't happend.
Please advise, how to get the ARA applications.
    Thanks
    Vamshi

I see some message about a proxy. Have you checked that you can use the proxy from you network?
If not you should turn the proxy off.
