BSOD - memory management error

Hi,
So, I've got my other laptop, Compaq Presario CQ61. For like 5 or 6 month I've had a great deal of problems with it, like freezes, BSOD-s and not to mention that troubleshooter was down. I've transfered all personal files on external HDD and decided to reinstall Windows ( 7 ultimate - legal copy), hoping that the problem will be solved, but to no avail. Eventually, I installed Windows 8 Pro because as people in forums said, it may be a problem with installation disk. For like 4-5 days my HP laptop was running just well, all updates installed (haven't seen that lately), i just thought it was a miracle and my problem is solved. Today it appeared. BSOD. After reinstalling/installing both versions of Windows i got, it is my firm belief that this is a hardware problem. I tried memory management test and the result was something like "problems were found, contact your manufacturer". So my question is, is this a RAM problem or HDD? I've heard both versions, and if anyone had in the past the same symptoms as my laptop does and he managed to deal with it, please enlighten me as well. Thanks in advance.
This question was solved.

Hi @Calin1 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your Compaq Presario CQ61 and working fine then getting the BSOD and shutting down. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults if you can get it to go to the screen.You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. Not rollback. Restore BIOS defaults are needed as I feel that this will resolve the BSOD.
Here is a link to resolving BSOD if the BIOS restore does not help.
If that does not help at the end of the document it shows you to do a hardware test.
The hardware test will show if any parts are failing or have issues.
I hope this helps.
Thanks.

    These crashes were related to memory management (probably caused by a driver).
    Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
    If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
    know what it is you probably are not overclocking.

  • Attempting to insert a schema-invalid doc gives 'memory manager' error

    Hi
    I can successfully insert schema-valid XML documents into my BDB XML database by adding the appropriate xsi:schemaLocation elements to the document root element. However, when I intentionally remove a mandatory element from the document in order to make it invalid, for testing purposes, I receive (actually, trap) the following error message:
    "Exception code 0."
    "Error: nsToUTF8: no memory manager File: NsUtil.cpp Line: 159"
    whereas I would expect to see a message relating to validation errors. Looking at the source file NsUtil.cpp I can see that the code is trying to use a memory manager to deallocate some memory. I don't know how this relates to document validation and I'm not about to go fiddling with this particular piece of code!
    So, has anyone else encountered a similar problem, or at least have an idea as to what's going on here?
    We're using BDB XML 2.3.10 on Linux. And we're accessing BDB using the python interface. My code looks like this (with some bits removed for clarity):
    stream = mgr.createLocalFileInputStream(filename)
    doc.setContentAsXmlInputStream(stream)
    docValue = XmlValue(doc)
    cntnr.putDocument(txn, doc, uc, 0)
    Thanks in advance,
    Phil

    We do need the actual DMP file as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
    We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.

  • Fatal Internal Error: "Memory Manager.cpp", line 547

    Hello,
    I am using LV 2009 and I am also getting an error as follows:
    =======================================================
    Fatal Internal Error: "Memory Manager.cpp", line 547
    LabVIEW version 9.0.1
    You will lose any unsaved work. For assistance in resolving this problem, please relaunch LabVIEW, or contact National Instruments.
    =======================================================
    I get this error when I start executing steps on TS 4.2.1 as well as when I do "Unload All Modules" in TS. Please find the attched logs. Further, I could not run anything in TS and need to restart the PC to re-run the sequence after everytime this error occurs.
    We have transited through LV 8.0, 8.2, 8.5 and now 2009 over past 4 years for our project and this is the first time I could see this error.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Adding on to Pritam's post:
    For the earlier "Fatal Internal Error: "Memory Manager.cpp", line 547" , we found that a couple of our dll's which were developed in LV 8.5.1 had not been recompiled in LV2009. After recompiling each of them in LV2009, and then running the same sequences in TestStand,this error vanished.
    But now again we're seeing this error, and that too only on  3 PCs systems out of 5 PCs!
    The same installer has been installed on all 5 sytems (after removing the earlier installers and running MSI Blast.exe them).
    The error now appears again, only when we try to exit TestExec.exe and another tool built in LabVIEW.
    So everything works fine and tasks are performed,etc, but when we close the window or try the exit that program, the "Fatal Internal Error: "Memory Manager.cpp", line 547" pops up.
    If we say "OK" to it, the window closes, but the Task is seen still running in the Task Manager and has to be manually terminated (End Task).
    Does anyone know what could be going wrong?

  • Memory full error while playing video in N8.... Pl...

    Hi All,
    I am getting memory full error while playing movie..... it plays for abt 5 minutes & then the error message pops up and the application shuts down.....
    I have checked C:, D: & E: & they have enough free space..... but i did find any solution......
    please if anyone can help....
    Thanks in advance!!

    This might happen if some memory extensive application ,like an antivirus or some other mobile management softwares are running in the background.
    You can start by checking if stopping /removing these apps correct the problem.
    Else sometimes viruses in the memory card can cause this, try removing any external memory and play something from the phone memory.

  • Java Memory Management/Out of Memory

    Hi Guys,
    I have a few questions about java memory management
    Because i keep encounter a lot of out of memory error which i think java does not handle Vector/ArrayList re initialisation automatically
    Asumme i have 2 million record in database and , i will process every 80000 and store it in Vector
    while(true)
    list = new Vector();
    list = GetResultFromDatabase() // Process Every 80000
    if list.size() > 0 =======> My VEctor list contain 80000
    //loop the 800000
    //Process Some logic and data
    list.clear();
    list = null;
    If u See , i need to call list.clear and list = Null every process so it wont cause me out of memory
    Before i put that 2 lines , i always hit out of memory Exception.
    Seems like garbage collector cannot claim memory if i dont declare
    Is Memory Occupied by VEctor cannot be recoverable if we dont explitcitynya clear it and set it to NULL??
    Because in term of logic wise it wont cause a problem if i just
    do in this statement after it process like below
    list = new Vector() which will reinstatiate the object.
    Thanks.

    Damm i should hacve read your post again
    Look here:
    while(true)
    list = new Vector();What uer doing is craeting a new vector object everytime the while does an ityteration so when your while loop does 40000 loops there will be 40000 new objects in jou memory
    i sugest moving the decleration outside the while loop:
      list = new Vector();
    while(true)
    ///rest of loop
    } This could also be a problem
    hope it help :-)

  • JS memory management?

       I've been having a lot of memory errors crashing illustrator lately, I'm trying to rule out scripts as the reason.  Are there any memory management techniques I should be using while scripting for AI?  All the crashes are "Memory could not be written" errors.

    No takers?  I noticed in the scripting guide for CS5 it says this:
    ... A single global, persistent, ExtendScript engine inside Illustrator handles all BridgeTalk communications. The net effect is that the state of the ExtendScript engine is cumulative to all scripts that ran previously...
    This makes me believe that the variables used in a script are not destroyed after a script finishes running.  The scripts I'm writing are extensive, with many, many variables being created.  I'm wondering if I'm running out of memory after running the scripts so many times.  Do I need to be destroying my own variables as part of my scripts?  If so, how do I do that?

  • X6 mass memory full error

    I want to copy some MP3 files to the X6 phone mass memory through windows explorer but it give me a memory full error message.
    Before I start to copy, it indicated 8.40G free out of 15.0G (not sure why it is 15G), but once I start to copy, it pops up the error message. I disconnect the phone and use the phone file manager to check and it has about 8.4G free. Try it again, the same happened.
    While in windows explorer it indicated it is full full, under the ovi suite->view->device information, it has 8,4G free! I know I have the space because I deleted a lot of files recently.
    Firmware: V21.0.004. OS: Windows 7

    I received an email from Nokia support about the issue however unfortunately their advice was useless...
    I will copy/paste it here in-case it might be useful to anyone else.
    Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
    We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. In response to your concern with your device, the phone notifies you if the phone memory is getting low.
    To free phone memory, transfer data to a mass memory in the File mgr application. Mark files to be moved, select Move to folder (or Organise > Move to folder) and then the destination folder.
    In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
    a. Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging
    b. Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory.
    c. Saved images, videos, or sound files
    d.Contact information
    e.Calendar notes
    f.Downloaded application packages
    g.If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them
    h.Any other data that you no longer need
    If possible, use the mass memory instead of phone memory in the Camera application. You can also use Image Store available in the Nokia PC Suite or Ovi Suite to transfer images and video clips for example to a compatible PC.
    If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).

  • 'Not enough memory' + 'Internal error' x 'Could not render the database' = Parting of company :(

    I can’t believe the amount of concern / disappointment / frustration spread across every associated Fireworks forum re: CS5’s
    "An internal error occurred"
    "Could not render the database"
    "Not enough memory"
    "Crash without notification"
    Etc.,
    We installed the CS5 trial – being more than wary about Adobe’s past releases – and lo and behold, all of the above beared ‘true’!
    This is nothing new of course, we’ve all been experiencing this since CS3 – but hoping against hope - a newer release would solve the poor memory management and general ‘bug-ridden’ code; alas - as per usual, Adobe has not responded with any pro-solution based action, but successfully furthered our frustration with a couple of fresh gimmicks without strengthening the core software.
    As an avid fan of adobe software […and a Fireworks freak] working in a design house that has many different employees with widespread software tastes – I eventually said ‘enough is enough’ after the umpteenth crash [as of 3 weeks ago] and have revisited the Rebel Alliance; ‘yes, CorelDraw’!  No I’m not going to go into some tirade about how much better Corel is etc. - as it has its own strengths and weaknesses, too […but without the hourly crashes] – so to be honest, we figure the time increase in some projects due to using Corel […time is diminishing with each project’s acquired experience] are negated by the downtime of Fireworks; so far, this is holding true.
    This may seem drastic, but it has been a long time coming – that is, implementing a move from our decade invested workflow to a ‘somewhat’ new schema, but due to the disappointing aforementioned, eventually principal / expenditure comparisons / sanity / lack of support all culminate to such, and if there’s no support for the competition, well – then there is ‘no’ competition; a luxury Adobe has taken for granted way too long.
    I truly hope Adobe turns around and fixes their ways, until then – we’ll be supporting those that do – and hopefully along the way, just maybe, with the added funds from disgruntled adobe x-pats – the software will far exceed what I used to love and adore […how I miss macromedia]; honestly, it would be near on impossible to argue which suite was better ‘either way’ – so it may not be such a distant future. Besides, with the market-door Adobe is opening due to such poor software, the new player sniffing around the edges will be welcomed by many with open arms; I know my/our allegiance will go straight to the company with the greatest software stability and sound support, whomever that maybe.
    So here’s to hoping no more, and actually doing! Very sad...

    I am also getting this error message. It happens randomly. Adobe help told me to close and reopen FW and then it stopped happening.  Does this sound like a good solution to anyone?

  • Encore - Memory Allocation Error - With Dynamic Link

    CS4 using Vista
    The process (AdobeEncore.exe *32) gets stuck at 959,736K while 6GB is available.
    In the past I have built many DVDs using a Dynamic Link from Encore to Premiere Pro.
    Now they all end in errors: Memory Allocation Error & Unable to Create Image Buffer.
    I monitored the process in the Windows Task Manager.
    The memory use for the (AdobeEncore.exe *32) process grows until it reaches  959,736K.
    The memory use stops there but the process continues for a while and then Encore stops with the errors.
    I guess is that (AdobeEncore.exe *32) has become limited to 1GB but the is plenty of memory available.
    I can Import a file and make a DVD without using the Dynamic Link.
    Thanks

    Was probably a hardware issue.

  • Memory Management in LabView / DLL

    Hi all,
    I have a problem concerning the memory management of LabView. If my data is bigger than 1 GB, LabView crashes with an error message "Out of Memory" (As LabView passes Data only by value and not by reference, 1 GB can be easily achieved). My idee is to divide the data structure into smaller structures and stream them from Hard Disk as they are needed. To do so, i have to get access to a DLL which reads this data from disk. As a hard disk is very slow in comparison to RAM, the LabView program gets very slow.
    Another approach was to allocate memory in the DLL and pass the pointer back to LabView...like creating a Ramdisk and reading the data from this disk. But memory is allocated in the context of Labview...so LabView crashes because the memory was corrupted by C++. Allocating memory with LabView-h-Files included doesnt help because memory is still allocated in the LabView context. So does anybody know if it's possible to allocate memory in a C++-DLL outside the LabView context, so that i can read my Data with a DLL by passing the pointer to this DLL by LabView? It should work the following way:
    -Start LabView program--> allocate an amount of memory for the data, get pointer back to labview
    -Work with the program and the data. If some data is needed, a DLL reads from the memory space the pointer is pointing at
    -Stop LabView program-->Memory is freed
    Remember: The data structure should be used like a global variable in a DLL or like a ramdisk!
    Hope you can understand my problem
    Thanks in advance
    Christian
    THINK G!! ;-)
    Using LabView 2010 and 2011 on Mac and Win
    Programming in Microsoft Visual C++ (Win), XCode (Mac)

    If you have multiple subvis grabbing 200MB each you might try using the "Request Deallocation" function so that once a vi is done processing it releases the memory.
    LabVIEW Help: "When a top-level VI calls a subVI, LabVIEW allocates a data space
    of memory in which that subVI runs. When the subVI finishes running, LabVIEW
    usually does not deallocate the data space until the top-level VI finishes
    running or until the entire application stops, which can result in out-of-memory
    conditions and degradation of performance. Use this function to deallocate the
    data space immediately after the VI completes execution."
    Programming >> Application Control >> Memory Control >> Request Deallocation
    I think it first appeared in LabVIEW 7.1.
