BSOD when trying to play DVD-A (Audigy 2) -- Advi

Hi folks.
It's official: I'm going insane! I recently switched from Audigy 2 to the kX Audio Driver but got tired of all the trouble I had with it, so now I'm back to good (?) old Audigy 2 again. Anyway... Previously, I didn't have any trouble playing DVD-A discs in the Creative player, but after re-installning the drivers I get the BSOD (or to be more exact: the PC just re-boots, as I have turned the BSOD off). What's going on here? Even when I try to re-install the drivers from my Audigy 2 CD, the PC re-boots.
Any help with this would be most appreciated!Message Edited by linust on 03-26-200703:0 PM

I did download the latest driver (02.09.006), but haven't tried the new Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player Update. Thanks! I hope it'll solve my problem...

One of user's MacBook Pro is asking for a password, when trying to play DVD. Anybody experienced that before?
Maybe the DVD itself is password protected, the user is travelling abroad.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi m,
My guess is the DVD is from another region than the one the optical drive is set to. Region changes are limited to 5 total, so it asks for the admin password to make sure you want to do it/allow it. After #5, the drive is locked to that region forever.

  • CONSTANT "Supported Disc Not Available" message when trying to play DVDs

Does anyone have any idea what the **** is going on with Leopard!? Specifically, whenever I insert a DVD to play it in DVD Player 5.0, i almost always encounter the message "Supported Disc Not Available". At first I thought perhaps it was that I was trying to use some DVD encoded or burned with really new technology or something but then thought that that wouldn't be the problem since Leopard was just released and well after the most recent video DVD formats. Furthermore, the DVDs in question were released years ago. That said, what the **** is going on. I've verified and repaired disk permissions millions of times. I've tried restarting, shutting down and waiting then restarting...nothing seems to help. Can anyone advise?

Hi everybody, I have experienced that frustration also. I don't clearly know why the message appears, however I know that it happens with discs burnt form a computer (just like ronanocallaghan said). I haven't found a way to solve the precise moment, however THERE IS a way around it. When you open DVD Player instead of clicking on "Play" go to File > Open DVD Media. Once the dialog box appears select the DVD, select the folder inside the DVD most likely called "VIDEO_TS" and click open. This way the DVD Player will successfully find the movie or whatever you are trying to see. I don't know the reason but hey, it works. Another weird thing is that this just happens in the computer because if you try to play it in a DVD it doesn't give not error! Hope it helps and i'll keep finding the reason of why it doesn't work!

  • Only get message error -2000 when trying to play DVDs

I just downloaded Quicktime Pro and I have Quicktime 7.0 My computer is PC running windows Vista. When I drag the file to the Quicktime icon to play a DVD using the player it says error -2000. If I try to open the file Quicktime is not an option. Does anyone else have this problem? What do I do?

I'm having the same problem. Until this week, the .mov files my friend was making for me with his camera played through Quicktime without a problem. They opened automatically, but only through the DVD player. Currently, after updating (thinking that was the problem) I can see that there is a file on the disc when in the DVD slot, but if I try to open it, I get error -2000. If I place it in the CD slot, it looks like an empty disc. When I did a system restore and went back to the old version of Quicktime that has worked in the past, I had the same problem.
I'm wondering why it played from DVD before, but not now? Any ideas???

  • Dbus error when trying to play dvd

i get this message when I try to watch a dvd with totem:
A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")
I've seen this before and cant remember what I did to get rid of it.  I have a clean install of Arch and I am memver of the optical group.  Also, its strange because I'm able to rip a copy of the dvd but not play it.

thanks i thought it was something simple.  i checked and there were a couple of groups i needed to add myself to.

  • Permission problems when trying to play dvd's

I'm using devfs and I made a symlink from /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 to /dev/dvd in the configfile. But when I pop in a dvd and hit play in xine, vlc, mplayer etc., I don't have permission to read it. It works if I "chmod a+r /dev/dvd", but this is only temporary and changes again if I reboot. I wondered if anyone could tell me how to make reading rights to /dev/dvd permanent as regular user?

    rottenikken
I don't have permission to read it.
first of all, login from a terminal as su -
less /etc/fstab         and check the location of your dvd player.
    ie   /dev/cdroms/cdrom0     /mnt/dvd  udf   rw,user,noauto,unhide   0  0
q quit    and then run xine , from the same root terminal.
if you still get the "no permissions" fault , then its likely xine is pointing at
the wrong place and is actually fouling itself.
open up the setup panel (spanner) and under GUI tab set experience level to
    "Master of known universe".
close and restart xine. go back to that panel to check its still set as Master.
Now go to the [media] tab. Scroll down to the [device used for dvd playback]
set this to /mnt/dvd  ( dont forget to check you actually have a directory called /mnt/dvd and if not, then make one).
below this  in the [raw device  ...] set it as  /dev/cdroms/cdrom0  assuming thats whats in fstab file.
Click the [Apply] and [Close] and close Xine.
from the root (su - ) terminal
    mount /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/dvd
start xine again. Click the dvd button.
If this works, then repeat that setup process  from a normal user terminal, or from the start menu u use to open programs.
to use again u just have to mount the drive, from a root terminal, then use xine as a normal user.
i choose to mount dvd and cds manually from a root terminal, but if all this has worked, and you want to automount, thats a different
    prob

  • C:13:00 error when trying to play DVD

I have been using iDVD 3 for some time and recently have had problems with the completed DVDs. The DVD seems to encode and multiplex with no errors through completion but when I try to play the DVD I get a C:13:00 error code on the DVD player and tv. Any insights and much thanks.

    Hi
see if any of this helps:
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named:
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
Last resort: from Craig: Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.

I receive the error "requested URL is not supported on this network" when trying to play videos on my iPhone. Can you please advise how to fix this problem?

    Hi,
You will need to re-instal iCal as an optional install from your OSX installer DVDs. Then run the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update.

  • Error when trying to burn DVD

    Hi
I get this error (repeatedly) when trying to burn DVD recently.
    Error code 0x80020022
Burning disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed.
It's self explanatory I know, but what am I supposed to do about it? Is it a problem with my hardware?. I can't see the icon for my disc drive in Disc Utility to check it.
I've shut down and restarted, tried different DVDs, they're all DVD-R although I did try at first with a DVD +RW and hope this hasn't caused some damage.
    Hope someone can help thanks.
I'm having loads of problems creating iDVDs as well. But I think I need to resolve issues one at a time....
    Helen

Hi Helen - here are some general purpose iDVD tips that may address some of your unspecified troubles. In terms of communication troubles, could your hard drive be going to sleep, or screensaver kick in and interrupt the process?
    General tips:
Do something small first; get some experience before you need to do a big project.
Lots of memory helps; and you'll need 10-15 gigs of space on the hard drive for scratch space.
Buy good quality disks - I've seen recommendations for Maxell, Sony, TDK and a few others based on testing. I primarily use the first two and usually don't have trouble.
    Give yourself lots of time.
Turn off your screen savers and energy savers; don't let your hard drive go to sleep.
Get your computer healthy and ready for some heavy lifting. (video work could be the hardest job your computer can do) MacJanitor and Apple's DiskUtility's Repair Permissions is my routine.
Most of the time iDVD is working, it is encoding (compressing) your video to fit on the DVD. Create an image .img file (patchburn for iDVD 4 and older) and use Toast or Disk Utility to burn it to disk. Burn slow (1 or 2x) and let it cool down.
I keep my projects under 60 minutes (for highest resolution).
Try testers; you can use DVD-RW
I import into iDVD rather than export from iMovie (fewer errors).
    No other apps open.
Let it encode and burn while you go to bed; it can take awhile, esp. on older Macs. Don't quit iDVD even when the DVD is burned, until you've played the DVD in a regular player (it's much easier to burn another disk and check to see if the problem was a bad disk, than to go back through all that encoding again by quitting iDVD).

  • Imovie crashes when trying to play on full screen or when i try to upload to idvd any ideas i have reinstalled software?

Imovie 09 when trying to play on full screen the program crashes also when trying to burn using idvd the program crashes. i have tried reinstalling software but get the same problem. Also some of my old projects that were ok before are doing the same, any ideas.

Instead of Sharing to iDVD you want to Share to Media Browser. This will save the movie to a special folder inside of iMovie that you can then see from inside the iDVD program.
Choose Share > Media Browser (it's at the top of the list)
Choose the Large size and let it roll. It will take a while for it to work.
    When it's finished quit iMovie.
Open iDVD, Create a new project.
Go to the button labeled "Media" in the lower right hand corner of the iDVD window, and click it.
Just above that is a window with some buttons across the top. Click on the button labeled "Movies".
Inside the window you will see an iMovie star icon, double-click the triangle beside it to see all the movies being shared. Your iMovie project will appear there.
Drag the iMovie project into your iDVD project.
The quality of the final DVD is visibly better, sharper than if you were to Share directly to iDVD. So bypass Share to iDVD altogether and see if it stops crashing.

  • Unable to load media error when trying to play a video in Sharepoint 2013

My team consistently gets an error when trying to play a video in SharePoint 2013. I can upload it, pick a thumbnail and save it.  When anyone else goes to the intranet site and tries to play the video, they get a media failed to load error.
I have tried mp4 and wmv formats. I at first thought it had to do with the codec used in Camtasia to create the video, so I encoded it in Microsoft Encoder to a wmv and it still fails. All of the videos I upload fail for other users. If someone else uploads
a video, I get the error and cannot play the video.  If I look at the library in Explorer, the video file is missing but the subdirectories for additional content and thumbnails are present. For the videos I upload and can play but everyone else
gets the error, I see those subdirectories as well as the video file itself.

  • Ipod nano 5th generation freezes when trying to play a song or video

Within the last couple of day my ipod nano 5th generation started freezing whenever i tryed to play a song. Oly way i could turn it off was by resetting it, however it did not fix the problem and still freezes whenever i try to play a song. I have even restored it to factory setting and it does the exact same thing. I don't understand why it does this, does anyone know why it freezes and won't stop? i don't have any warrenty on it and want to know if it is fixable, because it just randomly started freezing when trying to play music. If any one knows why it would be appriacted to know.

Does this happen with any song or video you play?  If so, then my best guess would be a hardware issue since a restore to factory settings did not resolve it.

  • Error message when trying to play the Youtube video only on Firefox. Is it about regulations or matter of Youtube?

Ever since Youtube "change casting" (about 6 weeks ago), i can't see anymore a Youtube video even amid other sites or bloggs, with browzer mozilla firefox only (the others do it!!) because all the time sent me an error message when trying to play it. I have downloaded every latest versions of Java, Flash player, Sokwave flash player and i uninstall and reinstall all of them plus the plug ins of Firefox and the Firefox (at the end) when i put the last version 9.1 .I have this problem from updating the v8.0 when mozilla team turn off my java plug in as old (and so many others) but there isn't any new version and i can't uninstall it!.
Please give me a comprehensive answer to every possible direction. Thank you!

option-click the video track you want to adjust and drag away or trim away. The audio tracks will remian in place

  • 'An unknown error occurred when trying to play the...

    Hello,
I have had a BT Vision package for a few months but we recently moved house and wanted to transfer our services. Since moving in, we have got the telephone, internet and TV channels working however we are struggling with the additional TV services (i.e. catch up, recording, on demand).
Everytime we try to play something on catch up or via on demand, or try to play a recorded programme, it attempts to load but then the following error message appears at the bottom of the screen in a red box - 'An unknown error occurred when trying to play the video OutputProtectionEnableFailed'
I have phoned BT's technical department on several occasions who have not been able to resolve the issue. I have tried Googling this error message and searching BT's website however I cannot find any comments about this error. BT have offered to send a technician out however will automatically charge £99 if this is an error with the cable rather than the BT box. This is a lot of money and I am not able to risk this potential charge when I'm not sure what the problem might be.
If anyone know's what might be causing this , or has had the same error message themselves, I would be very grateful to know.
    Many thanks,
    SHyde
