BT are driving me up the wall!

So today we were told (for the 2nd time) that a BT technician would be around to help us with our problem. My wife had to take a day off work in order to be at the house. Guess what? No show!  
I am no keyboard basher but I find this BT customer service to me absolutely terrible. We weren't even informed of a cancellation by the BT representative. I can never recommend BT to anyone after this whole debacle. It's just incredibly rude not to receive any correspondance whatsoever!

By the time you are reading that status page it would be fair to assume you have access to the internet from somewhere such as on your mobile phone, or on another network say at a friends house or at work or perhaps via a wifi hotspot. If you can't get that you can phone 0800.169.0199 and it will give you the same information.

  • Conforming Audio is driving me up the wall!

    Hi all,
    Windows Vista Home Premium, i7, 12GB ram, Production Premium CS5.
    I am making a DVD in Encore CS5 with 4 AVI files and a static menu.
    When I add the Avi video files En conforms the audio...
    I was getting frustrated because it seemed the audio was getting lost somewhere so after 'clearing' and re-importing files a few times I came to realise that before conforming the Audio was playing fine but once the Audio was 'conformed' the sound dissapeared? I used AME to create a Wav file from the Avi video files and added them to the EN timelines to get round that problem.
    The problem I am having is that EN is conforming the audio every time I go to another window, like Explorer, or even if I preview within EN, I close the preview window (or just come back from explorer) and EN conforms all the files, all over again! It is driving me up the wall!!!
    Then I started 'Transcoding Now' my assets and after every Video is finished I get
    so I click OK and EN shuts down ...
    When I restart it, opening the same project, it gets partway through opening the project then windows leaps in and declares EN to have a problem and the only option is to close the program. I then start it up again and it starts correctly, I can then 'Locate Transcoded File' for the video file I just transcoded.
    Seems like ENcore CS5 is no more stable than CS4 and if anything is less stable.
    Any ideas? I can still work through all this 'Stuff' and produce DVD's but the Conforming, CONTINUALLY is just so annoying!

    Interesting ideas MobyTrix.
    Slight problem in that my Encore project did not spring from a Premiere project, Premiere was not involved at any point. There was something weird going on there because EN had written it's Cache files but everytime I switched windows it just had to write a bunch more, it was irritating to say the least.
    I was amazed after having this issue and discovering the folder of conforming files. It had, over the months built up to nearly 600GB of data! After the lengthy process of cleaning the database it reduced to 350GB or so, then I reduced it to 0GB by deleteing it all
    As far as I have worked out there are 4 aplications using these files; Premiere, Encore, Soundbooth and After Effects.
    I recently upgraded my DivX codecs at the insistant pestering of the DivX software and there after none of my Adobe software could read any of the AVI packaged DivX files, I found some older codecs out there and installed them and everything went back to normal (what ever that may be).
    Encore still crashes on startup with certain projects, I uninstalled it and re-installed and nothing changed, it is just fragile, it is consistent at least and robust enough to go through all the little boughts of behaviour and not get 'broken'.
    Perhaps it is all Vistas fault LOL. I think it is just the way things are frankly, with so many different 'platforms' and 'standards' it's amazing anything interacts outside of its own family of hardware/software... The longest project I have worked with was 1 hour and 30 minutes (my own video files edited in PPro for Blu-Ray and DVD) and it all went pretty smoothly, I think upgrading from 6 to 12GB of ram made a big difference.

  • Safari bookmarks driving me UP THE WALL

    I have checked this forum a few time recently, expecting to see people tearing their hair out over this issue... but there don't seem to be any recent posts about it, either here or in the iCloud forum, so maybe it's just me? (There are some older posts that refer to it, but it's only started being a real problem for me lately.)
    I use Safari on both my MacBook Pro (running OS 10.10.1 and Safari 8.0.2) and my iPhone 5c (running iOS 8.1.2). I have Safari set up to sync to iCloud on both devices, and until the past few weeks this has worked very well. Now, however, it is a nightmare. (I can't remember whether or not the change coincided with an OS update... it's possible that it did.)
    I have a lot of bookmarks, and they're all sorted into a hierarchy of folders. If I add new bookmarks - on either device - they show up almost instantly on the other device too. But they are always added at the top of their list for some reason, rather than the bottom like they used to be. This isn't really a problem, more an oddity. The real problem is with the sorting.
    Don't get me started on the lack of an easy inbuilt way to sort Safari bookmarks. I used to use Glims, which was brilliant, but it doesn't yet work with Yosemite, sadly, and I haven't found anything else that does what I need. (There are things that will sort ALL the bookmarks, but I don't necessarily want them all to be alphabetical!) So, since Yosemite, I've been sorting bookmarks manually... but iCloud won't let me do that any more. If I rearrange any of my bookmarks, they always reappear in their original position within seconds. I've tried the obvious solution, i.e.
    1. switch off iCloud syncing on both devices (and go offline as well just in case)
    2. organise bookmarks on Mac to how I want them, and export to html file
    3. go back online & switch iCloud syncing back on on Mac
    4. delete all bookmarks on both Mac and iPhone
    5. keep repeating step 4 until bookmarks stop reappearing
    6. re-import bookmarks on Mac from html file
    7. switch iCloud syncing back on on iPhone
    This strategy does solve the problem for a  little while, but has two main drawbacks:
    (a) the same problem recurs every time I add any new bookmarks
    (b) the iPhone bookmarks take ages to reappear, and when they do they're all out of order (and not in folders - the folders are there, but they're all empty and the bookmarks are loose in a random order)
    Does anyone have any suggestions, please? All I want to be able to do is to keep my bookmarks synced AND in order! Thanks in advance.

    To answer your play in order question you need to figure out the name of the person who is doing the podacast. i.e.) Tim Henson for distorted view. Then you go to "Music"-"Artisits"-"Tim Henson" or whatever and then it will play them all in order.
    For your second question did you delete it of your computer or off you iPod?

    My daughter and her friend want to swap phones.  They are both on Verizon, on totally differnet plans.  Is this something that I can do on-line?  They went to the Verizon store and were told the store was too busy.  Any help is appreciated

    You can't do ti online because you can't activate a phone that's technically already active on another phone number. Do you have a third phone that's not being used? If so, you can dial *228 from that phone, and activate on of the two numbers there (Let's call it number 1, the other number 2, and our phones A,B, and C). So you activate Number 1 on Phone C through *228 or online. Now, Phone A doesn't have a phone number on it, so you can activate Number 2 to Phone A using *228 or online. After that's done, Phone B will no longer have a number assigned to it, so you can activate Number 1 to Phone B using the same methods. Alternately, you can call customer service and have them swap them for you, but to do that you'd have to have an authorized user from each account available to verify and all that.

The message on the tv screen from apple tv is that I need to turn on home sharing on my computer but it IS ON!!   • Itunes always losing my music, driving me up the wall?

    This is really getting on my nerves.  I have reloaded the songs into itunes so many times that I have lost count, when the list of music comes up, I manually go in delete the song/album and reload it into itunes.  I have a folder w/all my music on my desktop, so I don't why itunes keeps losing the location of the music.  Why does this keep happening?  With older versions of itunes this happened like 1x or 2x.  Btw I have always used a PC and currently using an HP envy.

The Burn CD icon is not there; only the BROWSE icon is there. It will only let me burn the Smart Playlists?     Since I updated yesterday afternoon all of my purchased apps are not showing on the wall and two of my apps are still waiting to be updated.  I have shut my phone down and restarted it plus logged into FB through my settings.

    Apparently, my setup of using a symlink (created in Terminal via "ln -s") for my "Movies" folder in my home directory to a different directory on the same HD had something to do with the problem. I removed the symlink and moved the folder back into my home folder. Then FCPX prompted to upgrade my projects. I'm backing them up now before trying to do that. ;^)
    So the bug is apparently that FCPX cannot work correctly with Mac OS's filesystem features… :-(

    Depends on what model it is...?
    The Storage temperature spec's for the late 2009, 2010 and 2011 models was -4° to 116° F (-20° to 47° C), but that might not be true for the newer models with a sealed monitor.

    Crizzo is right, the best way to charge is with the included power block. That said, the USB cords are interchangable as far as an of us know. (just not power bricks, iPhone and iPod bricks put out 5W of power, the iPad wants 10W and will always say 'not charging' if plugged into less power than it requires even though it will charge, just very slowly)
    If you have tried to charge your iPad - with the iPad charger - with multiple cables and multiple computers and get no joy then it's time to head to the apple store and have them check it out. The 30 pin USB port can go bad - mine did - and it's a manufacturer's defect (unless there's any sort of obvious damage) and should be covered under the warranty;

    I wouldn't assume that every store would be decorated exactly the same, so different locations could have different decor. Unless you tell us exactly which store and post screenshots, it'd be very difficult seeing that we are other users just like you - not Apple corporate employees who'd know about Apple's policies regarding the layout and decor of stores.

    When a photo is edited in iPhoto the 'Extended Photo Info' 'Modified' date field is changed to the now() date and time but the 'Original' date iPhoto remains the same. Then when a copy is made of a photo in iPhoto and then 'Paste Item(s)' is made to
