BT are shutting my e-mail account-Need help!!!

Just found out that my email account will close on 16th sept unless I pay for it as my broadband is with another provider(free as hubby works for other provider). I have had this account for at least 5 years, back in the day it was talk21.
I do have a g-mail account which i've never used its just linked to my mobile, my questions are, Is there an easy way to move every thing I have stored in my mail account over to G-mail (lots as you can imagine over five years) and do I have to notify everyone of my e-mail change where I have used it as a login or can I still use it as a login. Its going to take me till the 16th to sort this out I think

It's a disgraceful failure of any customer service by BT.  Had my Btinternet email account since they launched backin ... was it 1997?  Everything digital in my life is spidered into the account now.  Its been used as my registration point for virtually everything for the past fifteen years.  And now getting less than 30 days notice to try and find every single product and website I have registered with and then change all my details?!?!?  Hell, I'd need about a year to do so; and then I would still probably have missed some!  By their actions, they potentially cutting me off from products that I have purchased & tied to this email address.
Add to that the fact that their email that comes into your inbox sources from some dodgy 'analytics planning' website, as all the links route through there... I had serious doubts as to its legitimacy and forwarded it to their abuse contact & opened a case regarding it.  Highly unprofessional of them - especially when you consider that we are repeatedly advised by BT to never click on links unless we are sure of their validity.  And should never, ever, enter our account details on any other site other than theirs.
Shoddy BT, very very shoddy.  I would expect a higher standard of business from such a company.  And would definitely expect a proper notification click through to come up regarding this service change when I log into email.  I would say a good proportion of their users will deregard the email as a phishing attempt.  **bleep** cowboy operation.

  • Deleted Mail Account Recovery, Help Needed !!!!

Hello, today i deleted a mail account in mac mail by mistake.
Is there a way of recovering my received emails from this account?
I have looked in the mail box folder that was in the users library but that was empty, is there any way or getting it all back
    Many Thanks

    Wildo
Stop using your Mac a.s.a.p. as you may be overwriting essential data. Use a serious data recovery program to bring the files back. This is an example program

The folder you need to rescue is

  • E-mail Account needs multiple password verifications.

    Greetings,
Recently I have had to "Validate" my e-mail account {as many as 20 times per day}The message from blackberry is that the email account is no longer accessible by my blackberry device. this issue is likely caused by a recent change to the password used to access this account.I haven't changed my password lately nor to I want to.
Any ideas why I have had to validate my password so often?
Thanks to all that may help.

  • Odd mail issues, need help

A couple of things I need help with.
    1) Mail constantly goes offline and pops up a dialog box asking for my password. I enter my password in the box and hit okay and it doesn't take. I can hit cancel and put mail back online but that's a pain. What is causing that and how do I fix it?
    2) People send me mail and then about 30 min later I get the same email again. This problem doesn't happen with every email, just some.
I have no mail rules on. and I run virus software and it's fine.
Can someone please help me on this. Thanks!

Open /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access, choose Keychain First Aid from the application menu, and proceed to repair the keychain. If that doesn’t work, you may try removing the password entry from the keychain and letting Mail create it again.
Also, in Mail open Help > Mail Help and read the article titled “Mail keeps asking for my keychain password”, in case it applies to you. There is a related article titled “My password is not saved” that you may also want to read, but beware that the last suggestion provided there (deleting the mail account) is wrong and could cause irretrievable data loss if this was a POP account.
Note that Mail doesn’t always correctly report what the problem really is. If Mail can connect to the server but cannot log into your mail account for some reason, it’ll ask for your password, regardless of whether that’s really the problem or not. Don’t keep entering the password every time, because that’s not the problem (click Cancel instead, and take the account back online afterwards).
What’s the time interval chosen in Mail > Preferences > General > Check for New Mail? If it’s set to Every minute, try changing it to Every 5 minutes.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Also, try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.
BTW, if you’re using Mac OS X 10.3, as your profile indicates, it would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum. If the discussion applies to both Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s difficult to know that in advance.

  • Mail Account Deleted help!

    Hi all,
I stupidly deleted a pop account from my mail to make it imap so all my messages have been wiped.
I thought they would stay in there for some reason (sorry bit dense with all this!)
Have those e mails gone forever? it didn't warn me of this it just said are you sure you want to and that was all.
Is there anything at all I can do? Im desperate to get those e mails back.
thanks so much for any help,
from a rather stupid feeling Gem
    x

    Hi Gem.
Deleting a mail account causes all your mail stored in that account’s mailboxes to be removed from the computer as well, and you were certainly warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected. For IMAP-type accounts, this is not a problem because mail is stored on the server. If you deleted a POP account, however, your mail has certainly been wiped out from the computer, not just moved somewhere.
To prevent that from happening, you should have moved your mail to custom “On My Mac” mailboxes instead of leaving it in the account’s mailboxes. Actually, using the account’s Inbox and Sent mailboxes for archiving purposes is a bad idea regardless.
If the POP account was configured to leave the messages on the server for some time, setting up the account again would cause any messages still on the server to be re-downloaded, just like for IMAP accounts, but this would only work for received mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
If the messages are not on the server and you don’t have a backup (which you should have made before doing something like that), you may try to salvage as many deleted .emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Stop using the computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with it may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • Mail account disappears - help?

    Hi,
my pop3 mail account disappears almost every day. So I need to add it again in the mail settings to receive mails. Maybe it has something to do with the mail provider (Strato, a big internet provider in Germany) but I wonder why that should be. Any advices, help?
    Thanks a lot
    Ben

    Hi,
as Safari was instabil as well, I decided to reinstall iPhone using the iTunes feature. It worked perfectly, making a data backup first. Since then everything works fine.

  • My iTunes detects photos on my iPhone and it's taking up almost 4 GB, but there are no photos on my iPhone-. need help

my iTunes detects photos on my iPhone and it's taking up almost 4 GB, but there are no photos on my iPhone…. need help

This means you have 4Gb of photos in your trash.
Go to Photos - recently deleted (an option in the same menu as "camera roll" and "photo stream") and finally delete the photos.
The 4Gb of space will then be cleared.

  • HT1146 I have a NEW e-mail provider. I must CHANGE this on my Apple & iTunes account - need HELP !

I haved moved after 38 years in the same place.
I have changed e-mail addresses and cannot seem to get Apple to leave my OLD address alone. In trying to fix this, I have changed my password several times, and am now having a really bad time even getting into my iTunes account etc.  Need some help here.
    Thanks, Brian

I'm assuming OS X here based on the choice of forum, and not iOS based on the footer.
Please do not repeatedly change passwords or repeatedly fail passwords logins, or you'll risk triggering the evasion processing.
I'd expect Apple to send a confirming email message to the old email address when you manage your AppleID data over to the new email address, but the selection should otherwise remain.  The mail message sent to the old address is intended to notify the user, should the account have been highjacked.
The email address is not tied to the AppleID password.  Other than you'll need the password to log in and change the saved email address.
You'll have various prompts for passwords around Safari and iTunes that might remember the old OS X settings via your local Keychain, and you'll be changing those as you log in.  (That's your local system applying defaults, and not anything at Apple.)  You can either change those as you log in, or you can open Keychain Access and (carefully!) find and remove the old entries.  (I'd strongly encourage making a backup of your keychain or of your system before deleting old Keychain entries.)
If something else is going on and you've verified the email settings are correct on your account, then you'll probably want to contact the folks at Apple directly.

  • HP Pavilion P6-2220t. All security USB connections are shut off in BIOS. Need to turn on.

I was told that all of the Security USB connections was shut off in the BIOS. The only controls for this PC is USB ports for the mouse and keyboard control ect.  How can I get into the bios without the keyboard and mouse in operation? There is no other way to control this model computer. The only connections on this PC is USB connections only. Again If I can, somehow get get into the BIOS I can turn the Security USB connections on as they should be.

Hi Big_Dave,Yes the ALL security USBs in the Bios are in fact shut off. I saw it done in front of me.The person was trying to install Windows 7  but the usbs in the bios stopped workingeach time he tried the install the software. He thought that shutting off the securityUSB in bios would stop the security only and allow windows to be installed. He thensaw that all the security USBs in bios had completely shut down the usb connectionscompletely. I didn't know that is what he actually done until he went through with meand told me everything that he had done step for step with me. Then it dawned onme that was in fact what I saw him do. Anyway the Security USBs are all shut off.Money is hard to come by here so it will remain disabled until someone can walk methrough getting it turned on somehow without working usb connections. I refurb.laptops but not PC desktops like this one. This is new to me also. I think I will stick torebuilding laptops after we figure out how to get into the back door or find a way tohelp[ him fix this problem if I can. Anyway thank you for your input into this problem.

  • I have created Notes in my yahoo account. Some of the Notes pages does not show up, though they are still inside Yahoo mail account. How to ensure that all pages in my Yahoo notes appear in my iphone and ipad

I have Notes in my Yahoo email account. Some of the pages disappear or could not be found in iphone or ipad, though they are still inside my yahoo Notes
How to make sure that all my Yahoo Notes pages appear in iphone and ipad all the time

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!!  (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
    Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
    2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)
    Should solve your problem :~)

  • Cox mail issues- need help

I have had my Iphone for 10 days and I still can't send mail through Cox (my provider). I have been able to receive email, but never send.
    Error message: Cannot Send Mail
    connection to the serve failed.
Anyone have any ideas for me as to why I can't send, yet I can receive email?
I have confirmed the server for cox in my region.
    Cox offers no help.

Then you should probably explore a free GMail account and use their SMTP servers. They work in WiFi and EDGE with no issues. They support Authentication AND SSL. Here are the instructions I followed. They may help you.
First, create a free GMail account. Once you create it, log into it via the web, and enable POP access under Settings.
Also under Settings, go to the Accounts tab and add your COX email address as an authorized account. GMail will validate that account by sending you an email with a verification code. Retrieve the email and code, and enter it when prompted by GMail, and that will allow you to use GMail's outgoing server with your COX ID as an reply-to address.
Next, go to your iPhone. I suggest you delete and recreate the account from scratch.
    1. I went into Settings / Mail / Add Account and chose OTHER.
    2. I chose POP, then put my name under NAME, my custom ID ([email protected] in your case your COX ID) under ADDRESS, and "COX Email" under description. (The important thing here is to use your custom address, not your GMail address).
    3. Under incoming server, I put pop.myserver.com (your COX pop server), and my login ID and password (again, your COX ID and password).
    4. Under outgoing server, I put smtp.gmail.com, [email protected], and my Gmail password. This is the only spot you need your GMail account and password.
    5. I hit save.
Done. SSL and authentication are automatically set. I just tested it and sent myself an email, and it went out and came back as [email protected]
I think deleting the account you have now and recreating it should do the trick. You dont even have to delete your old account - just turn it off, and create a new one to test.
