BT billings are taking a lot more money than my ac...

I am absolutely tired of this and will be sending a complaint soon.
I've been with BT for 8-9 months now and it's been nothing but a hassle, ever since January when I moved homes, BT have been taking £65 every month because of 'average calls I made back in 2012', even though they've already taken the money to cover those bills, they're still taking £65 because it's the average use, bare in mind we no longer use the landline anymore.
Since February, BT have been taking more than what I need to pay for, so I said okay and let them take out the money because they said that any extra money will be deducted from the next quarterly bill, starting from may, they deducted the extra money from previous bills and my quarterly bill was £108.75, may first they took again £65 leaving about £43 left for the next TWO months.
I then called BT and they said that for now on there will be a set amount of money that will be due every month but for now I have to finish my current quarterly bill in order for them to proceed, I said it doesn't make sense that I have to pay off the £43 now and start paying the set amount starting from next month. I was put on hold for a few minutes and told that I won't have to clear the current bill and was CONFIRMED that the next payment will be next month.
Guess what, they took out the £43 without my permission even though we agreed that the set payment will start from June.
It's just an absolute mess, to keep this short .. my current quarterly bill from 11th April till 12th of July is 'PAID'. Why am I still being charged, going to be charged £45 next month and the month after even though my quarterly bill is cleared?

  • Return value from database function taking a lot more time than the query

    Hi guys,
    I have a Query that does a call to a database function. The function takes in a few parameters and returns a Date. Now, the query within the function takes barely .05 seconds. However, doing a select get_join_dates from dual is taking almost 6 seconds for each call.
    Here is the Query:
    select s.student_id, s.student_name, s.organization_code
    from   student s
    where  s.student_id = :p_student_id
    and    s.student_enrollment_date = get_join_dates( :p_year,
                                                       :p_month,
                                                       :p_student_id,
                                                       s.organization_code );And here is the database function. The select inside this function barely takes 0.05 seconds per call. This function gets called 3 times in my case as there are 3 records in the org_body table for this student.
    create or replace function
    get_join_dates( p_yyyy in org_body.fiscal_yyyy%type,
                           p_month in  org_body.fiscal_mm%type,
                           p_student_id in student.student_id%type,
                           p_organization_code in org_body.organization_code%type) return date as
        t_enrollment_date  date;
        cursor cur_latest_enrollment_date is
          select max(enrollment_date)
          from   org_body
          where  fiscal_yyyy = p_yyyy
          and    fiscal_mm = p_month
          and    student_id = p_student_id
          and    organization_code = p_organization_code;
      BEGIN
        open cur_latest_enrollment_date ;
        fetch cur_latest_enrollment_date into t_enrollment_date;
        close cur_latest_enrollment_date ;
        return t_enrollment_date;
      exception
        when others then
          null;
    end;owever, when I run the following statement below, it takes close to 6 seconds to retrieve a record. In turn, my Query is becoming really slow and taking almost 35 seconds. Imagine that with more records.
    select get_join_dates( 2010, '01', '2167543', 'PSYCH01' ) from dual;If I run my query with this condition below, it takes 0.5 seconds.
    select s.student_id, s.student_name, s.organization_code
    from   student s
    where  s.student_id = :p_student_id
    and      s.student_enrollment_date = '01-JAN-10'Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Any reason why you are doing this with the stored function?
    You could just do this with SQL. Embed the query in the function as a subquery in your initial query from STUDENT.
    select s.student_id, s.student_name, s.organization_code
    from   student s
    where  s.student_id = :p_student_id
    and    s.student_enrollment_date =
    (select max(enrollment_date)
          from   org_body
          where  fiscal_yyyy = :p_year
          and    fiscal_mm = :p_month
          and    student_id = s.student_id
          and    organization_code = s.organization_code);Why your function is not performing: I cannot say that with the information you have provided.
    Maybe sqltrace a call and see what the reason is.

    Example-CD : "Tracy Chapman , Telling stories" is not able to import . I have more such negative cases. But in other cases it works fine and the sound is great.
    The firmware at the inbuild CD/DVD DS-6E2SH is the latest version.
    What can I do??

    hi b noir,
    I don't no about virtuel drives like you mententioned. In the mean time I have rebooted the XPS and run again the iTunes diagnostics. I think the back - chance in the registry was not ready to use.  Now there are another results. They are the same in case of a running CD or a not running CD. The difference in total is like before. It takes more time that iTunes reads the (bad) CD and at the there is no good sound. In both cases ( running or not running CD) iTunes diagnostics gives as a result :

  • "Last Month" in RECENT shows a lot more photos than just last month's photo

    For some reason when I select "Last Month" in RECENT (on the left) I get a lot more photos than just last month, it seems like just about all the photos from the current year!
    Any one else running into this problem?
    By the way, my library was originally created using iPhoto '07 and I upgraded when iLife '08 came out.

    Indeed that is the case but it sounds to me like a bug and not a feature.

  • How can i delete my itunes account as i think im being hacked, almost every day itunes are taking accessive amounts of money from my account!

    Dear Apple support, how can i delete my itunes account as i think im being hacked!! over the past few months a lot of money seems to be taken from my account ranging from as little as £1 to £60... i cant take any more. Can i delete the account? Can u help me plase as i dont know what to do! Regards Teresa

    Go into your iTunes account and eliminate the payment method to none.  Then change the password.  FInally notify iTunes support of your problem.  You will find ways to contact iTunes support on this website.  Email works very well with iTunes support.
    You do not want to delete your account and there is no need to do that to prevent further hacking.  The reason is that any purchases of music, Apps, movies or whatever made with your iTunes account will be associated to that account and you can redownload them if you change iPhones, get an iPad or to your computer.  If you were able to delete the account, which you cannot do, you would have to repurchase everything.

    Hi,
    Did the issue occur when you opened the file that stored in the local disk or a network?
    If the issue occurred with the local disk file, please try the following method:

    Rename Subkey “Command” to “Old_Command”
    Rename Key “ddeexec” to “Old_ddeexec”
    Using FileType Manager change .xls from Word.Sheet.8 to Word.Sheet.12 In the Open Command appended “%1”

  • OLAP taking 5 time more space than RDBMS?

    Hello,
    I have been investigating Oracle's OLAP capabilities for about 2 weeks now in an effort to determine whether OLAP would be a feasible solution for my company's data warehousing needs.
    I have created an extremely simple analytic workspace that is based on a single relational fact table. The fact table contains both the dimension values (integers) and the measuers (floats). There are a total of about 300,000 dimension values all of which reference measures (the data is perfectly dense).
    I created a dimension and a data cube using the Enterprise Manager OLAP interface. Next, I created the analytic workspace using the Analytic Workspace Manager wizard. This AW building step took an extraordinary amount of time considering the simplicity of the data. In fact, I started it on a Friday afternoon, monitored it for about 2 hours, and it still hadn't finished, so I let it run over the weekend (for this reason, I am not sure how much time exactly it took, but it's definitely quite a few hours). Is this normal? Copying the relational table takes 10 seconds, and I find it hard to believe that building an AW with the same data would take so much time.
    Finally, coming back on Monday I see that the AW was created successfully. I went into the tablespace map to look at how big the binary blob is. To my great surprise, the AW was taking up about 5 times more extents than my relational table (contrary to what I've read so far about OLAP and its supposedly very storage-efficient data cubes).
    I was wondering if anybody could advise me on what I could have done wrong and/or inefficiently? Am I missing something here, or is OLAP really consuming much more space comapred to relational tables?
    Thanks!
    Dobo Radichkov

    Gotcha.
    Well, here are a few ideas:
    1) There is a bug in the 9i OLAP where dimension loads take WAY too long. I have a dimension with approx 77,000 members. On 9i, it took hours to load. On 10g 10.1.0.3 it loads in under 1 minute. You might want to open a TAR, the bug was something about one of the patch sets not being applied right
    2) From a space standpoing, I wouldn't worry about this too much. When the AW wizard creates an "empty" workspace, it already has lots of items in it that support the metadata, etc. Also, there is the concept of "free pages" that get allocated but end up not being used (they are "temp")
    To check this out, attach your AW and then fire up the OLAP worksheet. To see "free" pages vs. "used" pages, do the following:
    show aw(pages)
    show aw(freepages)
    One last thing you can do, to see the size of all items in the AW:
    attach AWname ro first
    limit name to all
    sort name d obj(disksize)
    rpr w 40 obj(disksize)
    This will show the "relative" size of the items, I think in "pages" (to see how big a page is just do a
    show aw(pagesize)
    Hope this helps!

  • Disk Utility: for bad blocks on hard disks, are seven overwrites any more effective than a single pass of zeros?

    In this topic I'm not interested in security or data remanence (for such things we can turn to e.g. Wilders Security Forums).
    I'm interested solely in best practice approaches to dealing with bad blocks on hard disks.
    I read potentially conflicting information. Examples:
    … 7-way write (not just zero all, it does NOT do a reliable safe job mapping out bad blocks) …
    — https://discussions.apple.com/message/8191915#8191915 (2008-09-29)
    … In theory zero all might find weak or bad blocks but there are better tools …
    — https://discussions.apple.com/message/11199777#11199777 (2010-03-09)
    … substitution will happen on the first re-write with Zeroes. More passes just takes longer.
    — https://discussions.apple.com/message/12414270#12414270 (2010-10-12)
    For bad block purposes alone I can't imagine seven overwrites being any more effective than a single pass of zeros.
    Please, can anyone elaborate?
    Anecdotally, I did find that a Disk Utility single pass of zeros seemed to make good (good enough for a particular purpose) a disk that was previously unreliable (a disk drive that had been dropped).

    @MrHoffman
    As well pointed your answers are, you are not answering the original question, and regarding consumer device hard drives your answers are missleading.
    Consumer device hard drives ONLY remap a bad sector on write. That means regardless how many spare capacity the drive has, it will NEVER remap the sector. That means you ALWAYS have a bad file containing a bad sector.
    In other words YOU would throw away an otherwise fully functional drive. That might be reasonable in a big enterprise where it is cheaper to replace the drive and let the RAID system take care of it.
    However on an iMac or MacBook (Pro) an ordinary user can not replace the drive himself, so on top of the drive costs he has to pay the repair bill (for a drive that likely STILL is in perfect shape, except for the one 'not yet' remaped bad block)
    You simply miss the point that the drive can have still one million good reserve blocks, but will never remap the affected block in a particular email or particular song or particular calendar. So as soon as the file affected is READ the machine hangs, all other processes more or less hang at the same moment they try to perform I/O because the process trying to read the bad block is blocking in the kernal. This happens regardless how many free reserve blocks you have, as the bad block never gets reallocated, unless it is written to it. And your email program wont rewrite an email that is 4 years old for you ... because it is not programmed to realize a certain file needs to be rewritten to get rid of a bad block.
    @Graham Perrin
    You are similar stubborn in not realizing that your original question is awnsered.
    A bad block gets remapped on write.
    So obviously it happens at the first write.
    How do you come to the strange idea that writing several times makes a difference? How do you come to the strange idea that the bytes you write make a difference? Suppose block 1234 is bad. And the blocks 100,000,000 to 100,000,999 are reserve blocks. When you write '********' to block 1234 the hard drive (firmware) will remap it to e.g. 100,000,101. All subsequent writes will go to the same NEW block. So why do you ask if doing it several times will 'improve' this? After all the awnsers here you should have realized: your question makes no sense as soon as you have understood how remapping works (is supposed to work). And no: it does not matter if you write a sequence od zeros, of '0's or of '1's or of 1s or of your social security number or just 'help me I'm hold prisoner in a software forum'.
    I would try to find a software that finds which file is affected, then try to read the bad block until you in fact have read it (that works surprisngly often but may take any time from a few mins to hours) ... in other words you need a software that tries to read the file and copies it completely, so even the bad block is read (hopefully) successful. Then write the whole data to a new file and delete the old one (deleting will free the bad block and ar some later time something will be written there and cause a remap).
    Writing zeros into the bad block basically only helps if you don't care that the affected file is corrupted afterwards. E.g. in case of a movie the player might crash after trying to display the affected area. E.g. if you know the affected file is a text file, it would make more sense to write a bunch of '-' signs, as they are readable while zero bytes are not (a text file is not supposed to contain zero bytes)
    Hope that helped ;)

  • 17" is lot more cheaper than 15"

    If you simply upgrade the 15" macbook pro to standard 17" spec, aka 2.16Ghz CPU and 7200RPM or 120G harddrive, it is already more expensive than the 17" .
    If you then buy an external 8X SuperDrive(DVD-RW) and a CardBus34 FW800 card, you will realize that the 17" is indeed a good buy.
    Oh forget to mention you get a 1680x1050 screen from the 17", and that means it can bring up as much content as your cinema 20".
    er... wat you say? profit margin of 15"mbp? i cant hear you say again pls... =__=

    my theory is that the people who can afford these
    machines have no problem what they pay. me
    personally, i dont use this machine for "pro" apps.
    i just dont want the next"iBook"
    ust say i did work on pro apps. if i wanted 2.15 but
    didnt want to carry a 17 then i would upgrade the
    15inch. obviously i can afford it ya know.
    the people who purchase this who need to get the most
    for their penny will probably buy the 17. but the
    people who can afford it will just buy whichever size
    they want regardless.
    that's how Apple survived all these years. to make money from people who don't care about money. However it seems like now Apple wants to push its machine out of the market niche and share some of the big fat PC territories ( there'r also loads of people don't care about their money using PCs, including mr. gates ), so i doubt if their trick still works.
    only hope is the the next gen of macbook (pro) come out with fancier designs and apple manage to make some more Apple Only ProApps like FinalCutStudio and Aperture
