Is it possible to pair these two up together on the same network, bearing in mind I need to keep one of my 902's as the AP, next to the router (I need its passthrough ability), and set the 2 extender 200's as slaves?.

Sounds like standard wiring. Each ring will have a dedicated 30A breaker and these rings are fed into your meter via a double pole isolating switch which cuts off all the electricity in the house. Your extender kit should work anywhere in the house in this case. You may want to try a factory reset on the homeplugs and try syncing again.

BT Broadband Extender Flex 500 Kit

I have purchased the Flex 500 kit and the Hotspot 500, I don't currently have the WiFi hotspot in use, bu I do have 3 Extenders plugged in. Extender 1 is next to my BT Hub 4 and the BT Fibre to the home modem box, its connected by LAN cable to the H4. Extender 2 is in the same room plugged in to a wall socket but does not have a LAN cable connecting it to the anything yet. Extender 3 is upstairs and is the one I am trying to use. The LAN connection from Extender 3 connects to a laptop (different laptops same issue) and Win7 connects to the H4 but does not connect to the internet, the Win7 Network and Sharing display shows the BT H4 as connected and has an X on the outgoing link to the Internet. If I switch on the laptop WiFi the Win7 network and Sharing display shows everything is fine. So having the luxury of two laptops I am able to prove that at the same time the BT H4 has a working Internet connection if connected by WiFi and does not have a working Internet connection if using the BT Extender LAN connection. All the lights on the Extender plugs are correctly illuminated green. I also have a Laptop connected directly by LAN cable to the H4 and that works fine. By resetiing both Extender plugs, rebooting the Laptop, using Win7 network troubleshooter its sometimes possible to resolve the problem but it always returns it can be hours later, 10 minutes later or when I next power up or unhibernate the laptop. What is also very odd is that I cannot even get to the BT H4 using the URL via the LAN cable when it shows as connected to the H4 and not connected to the internet. Win7 troubleshooter when it doesn't fix the problem (most of the time) replies that it is a DNS resolution issue. Anyone else had this problem.? By reset the BT Extender 'plugs

I am having problems with my Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 500 kit and have to write this on a laptop connected by Wi-Fi to the Home Hub 3 – This is where I am at:
I plugged in both units, and both showed green lights throughout – however, firstly although 2 Android devices and an iPod, which have worked perfectly wirelessly via the Home Hub 3, immediately picked up the BTHomeSpot-6FP none of them would connect despite the Wireless light clearly showing green, nor could I gain internet access on the cabled PC, despite the data light on both units showing green.
A check on BT Hub Manager via this laptop showed on “Home Network – Devices” the two Android devices, the iPod, and the PC all “connected on the “Physical connections” path, but none had Internet connectivity.
I spoke to the Product Support staff on 0808 100 6116 about my problem, and all they did was to put me through to India, where of course they couldn’t assist as my Broadband/Infinity was working perfectly, apart from via my Hot Spot kit!! All they could then offer was the number of the “Wi-Fi Hot Spot Call Centre” but of course this is for commercial BT Wi-Fi Hot Spots and not my kit – the staff member was very helpful as he has the Home Hotspot 500 kit himself, and we ran through some diagnostics, but with no success!
I then looked on the BT Community Forum and noticed this piece about potential problems with 2 wiring loops - https://community.bt.com/t5/Other-Broadband-Queries/BT-Broadband-Extender-Flex-500-Kit/m-p/1225997/h... where it states “you have 2 wiring loops in your home (i.e. two fuse boxes)? If so the adaptors will have problems as they run best on a single loop.” I do have an extension on my property, with a second fuse box, but I never had a problem with my BT Infinity service and connection from this room until now, going right back to the old "dial up" days, and obviously I cannot rewire my property to a single wiring loop!!
I contacted the BT Connected Home Helpdesk, and they offered:
“Please try resetting the Hot Spot 500 Kit as follows. Press and hold the Link button on the Extender Flex for 15 seconds (until all the lights go out momentarily). Push a pin in the reset hole on the Hotspot for 1 second (the Wireless light will go red).Once the Data light on both units has come back on check the connection to your devices again.”
However, although I followed the instructions (again) as I had already tried that I am still having connectivity problems, despite all of the green lights showing on both the extender and the hotspot!
On Thursday the kit worked for about 4 hours from switch on, and then ceased - despite all the green lights being on - so I followed the advice again, and gained access again for several hours. Then it cut off again, and despite green lights, resets and reboots absolutely nothing at all.
When it does work, it appears either as "Network 4" or "Unidentified Network" in the "Network and Sharing Center" on the Ethernet connected PC - can I do anything about this at all, and is a reset the official answer even if it fails with all green lights showing?
Also, a check on Hub Manager, via this laptop, shows both the PC and the hotspot as connected, in "physical connections" when plainly no data passes through!
On Friday I was connected to the internet for about fifteen minutes in the morning, then nothing all day, and it finally came back about 20.00 and was on until I switched off the PC about 22.30, and the Wi-Fi from the hotspot also allowed an iPod to connect – today (Saturday) absolutely no connection at all, despite green lights for everything showing on both units.
The Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit “Network and Sharing Center” page either shows the Hotspot Ethernet cabling as “Network 4” the old name for my network, or “Unidentified Network”, and can show the network as connected to the internet and at the same time not allow any website to open – or when the intermittent signal causes them to stop working the only way back is to restart – which is frustrating as well as time consuming – so if they drop out how can I reconnect service without a restart?!
I e-mailed the BT Connected Home Helpdesk again because of the continued problem, sending them screen prints showing:
All lights on both units are showing green, as they have all day - and the Home Hub clearly shows the hot spot and the Ethernet cabled PC as connected - but the screen print from the Ethernet cabled pc shows No internet Access.
For the Hub Manager to read the pc as "connected" it must be working through my house wiring to obtain this data, and presumably the same applies for it to read the hot spot kit, so data is obviously passing on the reverse path back to the hub for Hub Manager to read it.
But this doesn't explain why I still have no web connectivity - this also still applies to trying to connect Android and Apple products via the hot spot kit, even though the initial data giving BTHomeSpot-6FP appears on their relevant set-up screens
Another problem that I get occasionally is the data light on the Extender Flex being off, despite it being connected straight from the Home Hub, and I would have expected at least that piece working (it is using the new Ethernet cable supplied with the kit).
So far they haven’t replied!!
Sorry about the length of this, but I am totally fed up with the lack of connectivity.

Running a youview box from a broadband extender

Hi,
I run my Youview + box successfully from a broadband extender flex 500 successfully. I have the unlimited broadband infinity 1 package. I wish to order a second youview box(the one that doesn't record). I was told that I could not use this same system with the second box because it has to have an Ethernet cable to the modem. They consider the system I use to be 'wireless'and therefore not suitable. They say I can only run one youview box on a broadband extender system. Is this the case? Does anyone else run two youview boxes on the broadband extender system. They said it is not an Ethernet connection (I thought that was the whole point!) using this method. Please could someone confirm this for me and /or explain why it won't work!

BT never used to accept Powerline adapters at all. At least they seem to accept 500mpbs devices as valid for one box now.
However I suspect that they don't want to risk people complaining if people take out an extra box subscription and have problems if, say, both boxes are used for watching and recording HD channels simultaneously via Powerline.
To be clear there is no reason why you can't run two boxes off the same Powerline AV500 network except that if one or both of your adapters have low throughput (due to mains interference, poor wiring etc.) you could struggle trying to use both boxes simultaneously for both viewing and recording IPTV. If you are prepared to take the risk, go for it! (BT won't help you if you have problems though).

Comtrend 902 problem

One of my Comtrend 902 adapters has failed. It no longer lights up. It is completely dead,wont switch on. How do I get a replacement?

Overview
The BlackBerry PlayBook may come to a power state where it is unable to power on; a Yellow LED may flash in a sequence of 5 flashes, the BlackBerry PlayBook may boot up to the BlackBerry PlayBook Logo and then power off, may not power on at all.
Discharge behavior under normal use:
Under normal active use, a battery drained to 10% will cause the device to prompt the BlackBerry PlayBook user (notification and audible beep)
Without connecting a charger the device will automatically shut down at 3.53V (0%)
Pressing the power button may allow successful boot, but it will turn off again very quickly
Discharge behavior under no use:
A device left unused but in ‘Stand By’ will warn the BlackBerry PlayBook user at 10% (notification and audible beep)
The warning may not be noticed and the device will go back to ‘Stand By’
Letting the device drain in standby mode drains the battery slower, but more completely
Device will still shut off at 3.53V (0%), but it less likely to successfully boot afterwards
Discharge behavior under 3.53V (0%):
If the device is left to shutoff, the battery will continue to drain below 3.53V due to quiescent current draw from the motherboard and the battery fuel gauge
With the battery between 2.7V-3.53V, pressing the power button causes the LED to flash a pattern (1 solid red light followed by 5 yellow blinks) to indicate low battery (PlayBook Tablet OS version 1.0.5, and above)
Below 2.7V there is no activity, or LED pattern displayed
Charge Behaviour:
The provided charger should be used to charge the device. The optional 12 volt rapid charger is may reduce charging times
to approximately 3 to 4 hrs. Standard Blackberry smartphone chargers, other AC adapter USB chargers, or computer USB ports
are not recommended for the sole purpose of charging the PlayBook as with these methods it may take more that 12 hours to
charge the BlackBerry Playbook.
If the battery voltage is below 3.53V(0%) then the charging behaviour is dependent on the software version. The charging code will limit the charging current to under 400 milliamps, during which time, it may take an hour to reach 3.53 Volts. Once the battery voltage rises past 3.53 volts, then "high-rate" charging will start. If, after charging the Tablet for 4 to 6 hours still does not result in LED activity, attempt to force power on the BlackBerry Playbook by pressing and holding only the Power Button for only 20 seconds.
Prior to BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.5:
A BlackBerry PlayBook will never charge while powered off in BlackBerry Tablet OS versions prior to 1.0.5.
The device will show a red light when the charger is connected and then nothing more
Repeated connection of the charger can recover the device in some instances.
Once the battery voltage rises above 3.53V the system will boot and the UI will show charging
Starting in BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.5:
The device will show a solid red LED, followed by a solid yellow LED as the device boots into charging mode. This is followed by a yellow pulsating LED indicating charging in progress.
The time span between the red and yellow lights can be as long as 45 seconds as the device boots into charging mode.
Once the yellow LED illuminates, the device can be started, but it is advisable to let it charge for at least 3.5 hours to achieve a sufficient charge.
The device will show a solid green LED once the device is fully charged.
Starting in BlackBerry Tablet OS 2.0.1:
Once the yellow LED begins pulsating indicating charging mode, if the BlackBerry PlayBook is disconnected from the charger, the following graphic will be displayed on the screen, indicating charging is not complete, and to reconnect the power source. The graphic will be displayed for 20 seconds before the BlackBerry® PlayBook powers off if the power source is not reconnected. The same graphic will also be displayed if the BlackBerry PlayBook is turned on and there is not sufficient power to perform the boot process.
If the BlackBerry PlayBook is plugged into a power source, and the power button is pressed to power on the device, the following graphic will be displayed if there is not sufficient power to perform the boot process. If this occurs, the BlackBerry PlayBook should be left plugged in to gain enough charge to boot.

Enter standby modePress the Power button on the top of the BlackBerry PlayBook..

To extend the BlackBerry PlayBook battery life, charge it regularly, close unused applications and keep the BlackBerry Playbook out of the sun and other hot places. The following may also be used to extend battery life:

This message is displayed because the voltage provided is insufficient for charging. The USB voltage is limited to 384mA even if the maximum tolerance is 500mA. The voltage is limited to 384mA by design to avoid violating the USB specification which states USB devices cannot draw more than 500mA from the USB port.

HT3728 Optimisation of Time Capsule 1tb, Apple TV and bt broadband

Please can you offer advice on the correct configuration for Apple Time Capsule (1tb), Apple TV and bt broadband hub that will provide the optimum performance of the wireless broadband and the hardware.

The TC should plug into the BT hub by ethernet to WAN port..
The TC will be in bridge mode.
You will create a wireless network in the TC.. It is then up to you if you use the same SSID =Network name as the BT Hub or a different name.. the roaming network should work fine.. but sometimes it is easier to just turn off the wireless in the BT Hub and just use the TC.. a bit of trial and error here is the only way to find out.
What do you hope to do with the TC other than wireless network?? It is really not able to store movies etc.. because the ATV is not a media player .. it is a streamer. You need something like a computer or ipad to stream to the ATV. (Unless you JB a Gen1 or Gen2 ATV).

Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended trial version

Hello,
I have Photoshop CS4 installed on my Windows Vista system and wanted to download the Photoshop CS4 Extended trial.
I tried to download the Photoshop CS4 Extended trial on the desktop as well as on the laptop and wasn't successful.
I was able to download other Adobe trial applications such as Flash CS4, After Effects CS4 and so forth.
I thought the issue mentioned above was due to the fact that Photoshop CS4 was already installed or maybe cause only Photoshop CS4 is available for the trial and not the Extended version similar to CS4 Encore?

I think John understands me. As a matter of fact I have a PS Standard
CS2, CS3 and CS4 installed on my system and was wondering why I wasn't able to install a PS CS4 Extended trial. Apparently you just can't.
It's a pity 'cause as a consequence if you want to try the Extended version you have to get rid of the Standard version first and then download the Extended trial version?
I think it would also be better that the Adobe site should mention that you cannot download the Extended version when you already have the Standard installed? For example if you hover over the PS CS4 icon here, you will notice the 'try' link. Then you might expect that you just can download and install the application whether you have the Standard already on your system or not.

Difference between LC Reader extensions and Acrobat's Extend Features

Hello,
is there any difference between the way, how works LC's Reader Extensions service and Acrobat's Extend Features?
We have a pdf form, which we can extend (enable features like saveing filled pdf form) by Acrobat, but extending by LC ES2 service trhrows exception:

The document was not build by LC Designer nor Acrobat.

If you go to adobe.com take a look at the the acrobat feature sheet, in particular the one that shows the different features available in Reader vs. Acro Standard vs. Acro Pro. Basically RE enables Reader to use features available in Acrobat Standard. There are tons of features available in Acrobat Pro beyond that, but they are more typically features used by form developers rather than end users.
Sorry Aandi, got to correct you, but RE'ing a PDF can allow it to access a DB via ODBC. However, I would personally recommend you make a web service call and let the server handle hitting the DB if needed. It is much more secure, less work to set up (don't need a local ODBC connection on each client), and easier to work with IMO.

E-Bay And Virgin Broadband to name but a few

It would appear even since the Safari update 5.01that at least in Europe that E-Bay and Virgin Broadband continue not to acknowledge Apple users .
My girlfriend is unable to use E-Bay properly using a mac she believes that E-Bay has strong ties with Microsoft and at least in England they continue not to recognise Mac users . The latest Safari extension gallery does not install E-Bay manager nor does Garage Sale set up properly in spite of the fully licensed version .
She recently had Virgin Broadband installed in her house and the technician left before she was able to activate the wifi network from the router . Two days were wasted trying to get support fortunately she did not use the call centre that then directs one to India to be then told that they do not support Macs I suddenly had a brainwave and asked her to get a friend over with a windows computer to set up the wifi which was easily done with an install cd and a few moments spent online .
The gripe is why does Windows continue to get away with making life awkward for Mac users in Europe - I am hoping that it is their final death throws and that this ridiculous situation does not endure.
For the immediate future I will have to install Windows with boot camp so that she can turbo list multiple items on E-Bay using her Macbook - not happy about this at all .
I am positive the blame is nothing to do with Apple just windows refusing to move over .
Please do correct me if I am wrong as said I suspect the problem is European not North American !!!!!!!

The reset button sounds a great simple idea . Oddly enough whilst talking to my girlfriend on Skype I had another go at installing E-Bay manager through a different route the last unsuccessful route I tried was through Safari Extension Gallery , this time I found going through preferences then to the extensions window then after hitting get extensions I was able to instal the said extension successfully .
The real difficulty is trying to sort the situation on my girlfriends computer from 1200 miles away so I do not necessarily get all the information . She was able to instal the E-Bay manager but E-Bay runs very slowly in spite of an a reasonable 12MG speed connection whereas when she was running it on Windows she could load multiple items with a turbo lister at a reasonable rate in comparison to her present experience .
The other area that does not appear to be functioning satisfactorily is Garage Sale which was purchased to give her the plug ins that are available to Windows users , she says that she cannot get the currency to change from dollars to sterling , again without seeing it for myself I cannot comment although I may well screen share so that I can have a look at the settings to see if something has been overlooked .
I quite enjoy these problems since the learning curve goes up which is always a boon . I shall see what I can do tomorrow .

HP OfficeJet 8500 and Mobile Broadband

Has anyone used OfficeJet Wireless 8500 and Mobile Broadband? If so, what router did you use or would recommend. Small Office, less than 15 feet in any direction. Could not get a simple G router to work. Thanks!

Did a help desk ever ask you to check specific UDP or TCPIP ports in your firewall to ensure HP communication paths?
They are not usually open in XPSP3 or W7SP1 even after you load the drivers or web mail. In the updates they even state you must connect to update the device using USB even if you have LAN wired share with a static IP.
I have three W7 devices (OEM W7, refurbished W7 with updates from WXP (32 bit) and single license W7 on 64 bit hardware) and each of those have had rejections and failures on trying to load the print drivers and the solution center (version 14.0).

No, you can only download content from your own country's store. You can try requesting that the film be added to the US store, but ultimately it's the film studio that will have to grant Apple a license to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
