BT Connect IMAP email settings

I have a BT Connect email address and want to use IMAP configuration to ensure emails deleted on my iPad are also deleted on the email server. This does not happen with the current POP / SMTP settings. BT Connect emails are delivered using Microsoft Office 365, after a change last year.
After 4 calls to BT helpdesks being given configurations for BT Internet / Outlook configurations etc, I was eventually given these settings but I just can NOT get them to work:
Incoming: imap4.btconnect.com, No SSL, Port 143
Outgoing: imap.btconnect.com, No SSL, Port 587
I spent an hour in the local Apple shop with one of their experts trying to configure my email account with IMAP - and Exchange - on my own iPad and a shop iPad and a MacBook laptop: all without success.
Does BT Connect actually support IMAP at all?
Surely I am not the only person with a BT Connect email address and an iPad wanting IMAP?
Please can a BT email expert advise?!

Yep, ignore my previous post, missed the bit about moving to Office 365 in original post.
BT Business needed a reliable e-mail service, not run by Yahoo or Critical Path
Which I often wonder why anyone would try to run a business on a residential account, as we seem to get many posts regarding this.
BT Business is a little more expensive, but loss of important e-mails, is lost business.

  • Connecting to email settings

    Hello
Ever since this morning my Blackberry 9300 hasn't received any mail. I have two accounts set up on it, a Gmail account and my work webmail account.
If I try to go into the email settings, I get message: 'connecting to email settings' and an hour glass and eventually 'your device has a problem connecting to the server'.
I have tried on both the WIFI at work and the Virgin Media mobile network.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

There have been some intermittent internet outages worldwide the past day or so (NOT caused by RIM this time).  Your carrier may have been victim to that.  I'd suggest you wait until morning and try again.  If you still can't get anywhere, let us know then and we'll try some of our magic.
    I hope that helps you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Unable to connect to email settings

Where do I go from here - I cannot connect to email settings.  I am receiving and sending email with no problem at all.  It also will not connect to internet, so is probably related.  Is this Sprint/Blackberry or ???

I solved this myself after stumbling on something in Blackberry Desktop.
The problem was when I clicked on email setup the Blackberry just hung or the timer displayed briefly and nothing happened.
I went into the device and removed the LATEST VERSION of the Email Setup Application.  This left 1 version which I could not remove.
However this did not resolve the issue.
I started up Blackberry Desktop and looked at the applications that were installed (selected from the left panel).  This showed me that the Email Setup program had an update outstanding.
I clicked on ACTION in the bottom right of the Blackberry Desktop on the Applications page and after the update was applied Voila !!!  I can go into EMail Setup from the device and all is ok.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • Cannot connect to email settings

Hi, I am travelling for 4 months and have been using my BB without any problems. I have no call roaming only sms roaming and then also data access through wifi. Recently I got an email that says: "Your BB device cannot access [my] email account. The password might have changed. To continue using email on my BB device, you must validate [my] email account by verifying the password." When I then click the link provided to validate my account, the device tries to 'check for updates', but then fails and I get the following error message: "Your connection to the mobile network is turned on, but you are not in a wireless coverage area." My BBM and sms services still work, as well as all other apps or services that use data. Only my email is giving me problems. I also cannot access my email account settings through the setup menu, I get the same error message. Any help to solve this will be much appreciated. Thanks, Bevinn

It may or may not be related but I recently acquired a Q10 in the UK and now find that it cannot access my primary btinternet address email account (to receive emails) whilst roaming which is the main reason I bought it. Over several weeks, the supplier, network provider and btinternet have all been unable to resolve this. The Q10 has also been back to BB to look at. Any experience/solution welcome please. Richard.

  • IMAP Email settings for Iphone 5 with IO6

We discovered a work around for the new automated setup for email pop accounts this morning.
As with the previous versions of IOS a manual setup was available, with IO6 it searches and automates the setup and defaults to POP accxount.
But if you put the wrong email details in the auto selection it will then allow manual setup to appear.
From here you can select the IMAP setting as per past IOS.
This will then allow you to see all of the directories as you have set tyhem up in you default email account on PC or Mac and it will avoid the annoying email being loaded as UNREAD.
    A wicked solution.

Go to the BT website and search for them there.

  • Trouble accessing Email Settings when setting up a Gmail account

    Hi there,
I have searched the forum but can't find any similar issues.
I have used BB before and just set up my new Curve 9300 (from work). The Work email and everything else works fine, but I can't set up a Gmail account on it. If I use the Wizard (or go via Email Options), and select 'Email Account Management', the screen says 'Initializing application - connecting to email settings', then it times out and gives the error message 'Your device had a problem connecting to the server'. I get this error message every time and my Work IT won't assist me in resolving the issue,
    Any suggestions gratefully received!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jalber

Have you tried the hard reset? Removing battery for 2 minutes then put it back again? If this does not help you might need to set-up a user name and password to access your email settings on your phone. If you have access to a BIS website make sure the new phone's PIN and IMEI are the ones recorded there, if you have no account you need to create one on the website or you can call your service provider they will create it for you and send a password.

  • Can't connect to internet; no email settings or anything!

I definitely have a data plan.  I can connect to the internet easily by wifi but i just can't connect through my mobile operator.  i've downloaded the Facebook and Twitter apps from wifi but can't use them because they claim I have no data plan.
I have searched for help, on here and everywhere.  Everyone says do the hub whatsitsface menu key then register now thing (sorry), or go on email settings.
I don't have email settings!  It says that they're either in the menu or under setup.  It's NOT in the menu and under setup all I have is setup wizard, set up wifi, set up bluetooth and Orange plus, which doesn't help.
I don't have email settings.  I'm starting to think there's something missing on my device because in all the instructions and everything it says that when you go into setup > setup wizard > email setup, you're just supposed to go from there.  I only have one option at that screen and it's for the work email with the enterprise server. :\ That's not what I want....
The menu > register now thingy doesn't work, a box comes up saying "registration message sent!" in a cheery little way when actually it does nothing.
Sorry for writing so much.  I bought this Blackberry yesterday and I really don't have time right now to be fiddling around this much with it.  Kudos for anyone who can get me going! <3

Yea, I'm going to ask anyway. But, do you have THE BlackBerry Data Plan from your mobile provider. Not just any generic data plan will cut it.

Doesn't matter. You can connect to the internet even if you remove the SIM completely from your BlackBerry.

  • Why will IMAP email not send from Mac OS 10.10.1 Yosemite Mail even though it is configured the same as on my old Macbook (and emails are sending just fine on the old computer)?

I can receive but cannot send IMAP email on my 1&1 mail account from Mac OS 10.10.1 Yosemite Mail on my new Macbook Pro. The account is set up the same port, password, username, server name as on my old Macbook and emails are sending just fine on the old computer.
When I hit send on the new Macbook Pro running Yosemite I get this message:
"The connection to host ... on port 993 failed.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
It shows the server as (offline)
I've tried erasing and typing in the password.  I've tried both checking and unchecking Automatically detect and maintain account settings. Still cannot send.
I also have a Gmail account and it is working...

email service uses an Incoming Server and an Outgoing Server. Mac Mail makes access to the Incoming Server(s) obvious, and hides the settings for the outgoing Server(s). A quick and easy way to get access to the Outgoing Servewr settings is to use:
    Window > Connection Doctor ...
... then click on the red light for the Server that is not working for you to see its settings.

  • Email Settings Wiped Out on Regular Basis - Phone Network Issue?

Not sure where to post, but the CEO of our company has had an ongoing issue with his Droid X, and actually I suspect it being a phone network problem.  On a consistent basis when he travels from our office to his weekend home about 100 miles from us, his phone loses the POP3 email settings for our company email which is setup on his phone.  The account settings appear normal, yet we have to re-enter them and then turn the phone off and on again in order to get the email to go through.  VERY FRUSTRATING.  Anyone else have this issue?  Specifically we are traveling from Birmingham, AL to Selma, AL.  There is nothing he is doing to his phone causing the issue and it is not the email account as we have other users on the Verizon network in the area that do not have the problem, though they do not travel that route.
I would GREATLY appreciate hearing from anyone as Verizon customer service at the local store claims they have never heard of the issue.

  • Nokia E72: IMAP Sync settings - What does 'After N...

    hello,
Could someone tell me the difference between 'Manual' & 'After Notification' settings under When to Sync option for IMAP email set up ?
    Thanks
    venks

No one knows; Nokia never documented what it does.  It is in several phones and not documented in any of them.  I was thinking it was for IMAP Idle, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The phone eventually drops the data connection, thus it never gets notified of new mail like IMAP Idle is suppose to work.  Nokia supports swears the E72 supports IMAP Idle, but they don't say how to enable it.  All they do is say contact your mail provider and check the account settings.  They have been told time and time again, IMAP Idle works with other mail applications on the same phone.  The support staff if just reading the phone specs and thinks just because it is listed, it is fully supported and works.

  • Help, Redirector not working, Email settings greyed out

This was working. I had everything set up and then I can only assume last weekend when I installed and update from MS it cancelled everything.
Now when I open the Desktop Manager, my email settings are greyed out, I can't sync my messages or calendar. When I click on it, it says, "Email settings are not available without an online connection to your messaging system." When I go to sychronize and try to configure it, there is no Outlook user profile to choose from. I have added another user profile in outlook and tried again, but there are still no profiles to choose from in the dropdown menu.
Also, when I open up Redirector, I get the message. "Could bot start the Redirector: the connection to your messaging system could not be initialized".
I know these are both related, there is something I'm forgetting. I have went through the forums and tried several things that appear to be the same, but none have worked. Anyone have a suggestion?
I don't know that it matters, but I've got a Bold and using Outlook 2007.

Hi again, I have reinstalled the DM 5.0 & chose the BES type installation even though I am not using that. This enable me to use the Redirector properly again
Interesting...FWIW -- Redirector is pretty much designed strictly for Enterprise users (MS Exchange, Notes, etc.) whose firms do not host an internet facing interface to their corporate email (OWA, POP, etc.). Redirector is designed for those users to leave a client PC running, inside of the corporate network, with their email client (Outlook) running all the time. The redirector interfaces with the client and manages the communication (via the internet connection from their firm) with their single BB.
BIS is designed as the interface for normal internet-facing email accounts. With BIS, there is no need for the redirector since BIS, hosted at your carrier, interfaces directly with your email server (GMail, Yahoo, etc.) and manages the link between them and your BB (for email only).
Since your PC client is interfacing, across the internet, to your email (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), then BIS can do the same thing -- they are both, quite simply, IMAP/POP client interfaces to such servers...
Anyway, if you want to rid yourself of the desktop redirector, then you might want to consider BIS for internet-facing email interface to your BB.

  • IMAP email deleted on desktop remains in iPhone inbox

Seems like people are seeing a variety of email problems with the new iOS 4. I flipped through the first 6 pages or so of topics and did not see my particular issue.
I am using my university IMAP email service. If I read and delete email using the Apple Mail client on Mac OS 10.6.4, it still remains in my iPhone inbox, showing as unread. I am using iOS 4 on the iPhone 4. I also have an iPad, and using the same mail settings, the iPad inbox syncs fine with the IMAP server. On my previous iPhone 3G, everything worked fine. I did notice similar behavior with the 3G after my iOS 4 update, but I sold that phone soon after, so I wasn't able to test this fully.
I have tried killing the Mail background process, restarting the phone, hitting "load more messages" on my iPhone, refeshing in the inbox, deleting the mail account and re-entering manually, syncing the mail account from my Mac or entering the info manually on the phone. Nothing has resolved my issue.
Interestingly, I also use another IMAP client as well, from FastMail.fm, and I do not notice the problem here. Maybe the bug only manifests itself with certain mail server software.
Anyhow, it looks like another mail bug in the new iOS. Anybody else noticing a similar issue?

they are not blank emails, they just look blank. I just got hit by this yesterday accidentally clicked on am email sent 12/31/1969 and its been a bain. It vanished but later I found it lurking in my drafts folder of my 3G iPhone updated with 4.1OS. It changes dates when you try to delete it. And in one case, it changed its message to show the first line of javascript code. It's installing something or trying to. First line reads $(window).load(function() {2 3 initial... so I assume its starting some initialization process and that its malware.
I am using gmail. Computers seem fine, iPhone is weird. I changed passwords to something the iPhone wouldn't know. I did so on two different computers. And that seemed to stop everything. Ok, it stopped my phones email connection. Till I could figure this out. Or I thought. For last night when on the phone a call got interupted. I called back, no big deal, dropped call, but when I got off the phone I noticed I had an email. Something had come in. It arrived during the minute of that dropped call. It was a nice email announcing the birth of friends first child. Wonderful news. But it shouldn't have shown up on the phone.
Since then I've been to see the Apple Genius' bar, the drafts folder that would not delete, cleared itself out magically before I arrived at Apple, but I have pictures of it and that line of js in my camera. Due to the range of odd behaviors the OS has been reinstalled. Good. Then I restored my phone to a backup version. Fine. And now, with right password set up, it intermittently tells me it does not recognize the password and then try again and its all good and then its not. Some folders update with the time stamp, others don't. I can send but I have not received in the 50 minutes even tho I've sent myself test emails from other devices. Also noticed, I cannot deselect my drafts folder, nor that it is backed up on some other server. Is this normal?
What is this thing and how can I kill it?
But, whatever it is, its not blank, it just looks blank.
Open to suggestions / insights. Would prefer not to completely rebuild from scratch.

  • I can't set up an imap email account on new ipad.

I went to settings and did everything required to set up my imap email account.  The account won't send or receive emails.  The internet connection is great.  I can set up a Gmail account with no problems, but the imap account won't work.  I had my ISP reset my password, so that isn't a problem.  Any suggestions?

hi problem is, when i start on the first screen - name, email add etc it then goes off and gets the info automatically and sets it up as a POP account - how do i change it to IMAP?

  • E6 stopped sync with IMAP email server

Hi, since Friday28th of October, in the morning I am experiencing a rather unpleasant issue: my Nokia E6 dos not connect to my company's email IMAP email accounts. I take the opportunity to report other 3 issues
I have 2 emails accounts @mycompany.com that were regularly being used. I did not update the firmware nor performed any changes on the phone, all of a sudden the E6 does not connect with the email accounts, there is no error message.
    I tried the following:
    1) Re-entered the password of the email account, I confirm this is right
    2) Created one of the email accounts that were on the E6 on 2 other devices (Ipad and Palm Pre), they work perfect, both on Wifi, on my operator,(Orange) and on an other phone operator (Swisscom)
    3) deleted one email account, from the E6. I restarted the phone (by holding the button 8 seconds) and recreated the email account, this is not possible, I get the following error message:
" service temporarily unavailable. Try again later. "
    4) I repeated the test (point3) both on WiFi and using the 3G operator. I got the same error
On the E6 there is also a Gmail account, which works flawlessly.
Using the email is not an option for my business, so I wish that THIS TIME I will get an effective reply from NOKIA. (please NOKIA don't tell me again that I have to use OVI account or my mailprovider does not work, because as explained I tested the settings on other devices.

What you say it makes absolutely sense, I can't imagine otherwise any other explanation why suddently my email does not work.
However when you go to the mail wizard, to create a new account it's stated:
"During the activation procss, your email address, along with tech information such as your phone's serial number, may be sent to Nokia. Nokia will not process or store any identifiable information after the activation without your consent"
I thought once the account is up and running I was disconnected from Nokia servers. me fool.

I've deleted and re-input the details. I've douuble-checked the password. I've re-started and reset the phone
    Can ayone help please?

I gave up trying after about 10 attempts. Half an hour later my phone suddenly started downloading emails from the server it "couldn't connect to". So there probably wasn't a problem in the first palce.
