BT domain server not working

My system can't resolve www.fairylandgame.com to an IP address - it gives "server failure"
This domain name is hosted by DNS server 216.69.185.50 (PDNS01.DOMAINCONTROL.COM)
That DNS server can of course resolve the name to address 8.12.43.193
I can ping that address.
My homehub is set to use the BT DNS server at 213.120.234.26
That DNS server can't resolve the name to an address and gives server failure.
I am testing this with nslookup and temporarily changing name servers.
Clearly the BT DNS server is at fault.
This server hosts a facebook game so should be quite popular. It was working two hours ago OK.
I can't report the problem by phone to BT as I can't get through to anyone who understands how the domain name service works - they don't know what I'm talking about.
How do you report problems like this?

Last time this happened, I threw a tantrum with a lady on the phone with customer support who eventually said she'll raise it with her networking team. This is after numerous hours on online support and phone support who were keeping on asking me to PLUG an ethernet cable to my laptop.. From my experience, its just a blood boiling experience talking to them as they run through the same scripts and eventually tell you "This is a site problem and you need to contact the administrators of that site! or try again in 48 hours" 
I'm going to give 150 a call now from my BT home line to see if them do anything, doubt if they will. but will let you know.

  • Force encryption on SQL Server not working?

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm running SQL Server 2008 64-bit. I've installed a self-signed cert on the box and set  "Force Encryption"  and restarted SQL server. 
    I setup a client machine to trust the authority of the cert installed on the server. When I connect to that SQL server from SSMS from a client machine and select the "encrypt connection" option in the client Connection properties, SSMS correctly complains
    that the cert on the server does not match the computer name I asked to log into . This is because, although the cert is trusted, the dns name dos not match the CN in the cert <- Perfect, exactly what I am expecting.
    When I connect to the same SQL server from the same client but  UNCHECK "encrypt connection" on the client, I'm able to login. Considering I've checked the "Force Encryption" on the server, the server should have rejected the connection. Why not?

    Why can we run SQL statements against server A from server B (with SSMS) without any certificate?

    How can server B, without any certificate, decrypt the data encrypted by server A?
    Our intention is to encrypt all server in the same way so all of them will accept only encrypted communications. We are assuming that the Merge Agent will be able to communicate with the Publisher and the Subscriber through this encrypted environment. May

    I get 100% success pinging mail.adelphia.net, and if at your home venue where Adelphia is your ISP, then I think no separate Authentication is required. Port 25 would be the proper port. However, if you are not at home, and the provider of internet connection limits you to using only authenticated SMTP then you would not able to use mail.adelphia.net as the Outgoing Server.
    Are you at the venue where Adelphia is the ISP?

    Ask your carrier to send you the settings over wifi and then install them that way.
    I'm on giffgaff and I used the giffgaff app from the store to sort this out.
    Overall though I must say Apple has let itself down on this as why isn't something written in the ios script that keeps the original settings??
    Very Poor indeed and I held off using Apple products for years for this very reason!!

  • Cross Domain XML not working

    I recently obtained two different domains that point to a subdirectory of another domain server. The swf file I created does not show up when I use the domains that are pointing to the subdirectory of the original domain.
    I placed an xml file into the root directory that contains the following code:

    I'm still not entirely clear what the problem is.
    Those links to the other domain show 404 errors, which is related to how things are set up on your hosting server for those domains, and nothing to do with flash.
    Are you trying to get the swf at http://www.searecovery.com/ to load data from the other domains? (I can't see it trying to do that, so perhaps not)
    If so you need to add *.searecovery.com to the crossdomain files at the other domains.
    Crossdomain files give flash content (swfs) hosted at one domain access to load data (or grant access to the data of loaded assets) from another domain.
    So you need crossdomain permission if you want a swf hosted at www.danfoss-searecovery.com to load xml data from www.danfosssearecovery.com for example, or to get at the bitmapdata of jpgs loaded from www.danfosssearecovery.com.
    If you just want to host the swf at the other domain, and if it's not loading data from external domains, then you pretty much just need to move copies of the html and swf there along with any external assets it loads (so long as you have used relative urls for loaded assets from within the swf) . If that's what you're trying to do then the issue here is likely to be simply how your hosting environment is set up for the other domains.

    After a few hours, my server finally came back up however mail is not working.
    In the /var/log/mail.log I see many error  messages related to the same thing from Postfix whenever an inbound mail is recieved.

    I'd guess that the postscreen database is missing or corrupt.
    please issue the following Terminal.app commands:
    postconf -n -c /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/ | grep -i postscreen
    postconf -c /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/ | grep -i postscreen
    and anonymize the output if and as desired.   If you anonymize, please consistenty replace the domain portion of your URL(s) to example.com, example.net and/or example.org (these are RFC-reserved bogus domains) and replace the server's host name to something else if that's more sensitive than "mail" or "www" or "server" — consistency in these changes is important — and alter any IP addresses included (other than 127.0.0.1 / localhost) to 10.20.30.40 (or some other private IP address — again, consistency in these changes is important — and then post that output here.
    Before making any changes, get a complete system backup or two, on an external disk.  That's your path back if something here goes badly wrong, weird or otherwise untoward.
    Once there are complete backups and entirely as a test / guess / experiment, I'd look to rename an existing postscreen database out of the way and see if a new cache database gets created, and would also check the file ownerships and protections of the files in that area.

    The two files that are most interesting in the above are the . and postscreen_cache.db files.
    There is also an upgrade log around, and you'll definitely want to have a look in that — to see what (else?) went wrong here.  (Off the top, I don't recall the name of the upgrade log file.  In recent releases, it's usually something like /var/log/install.log — also check the system logs for "upgrade" messages.)

    What do you mean when you say that it fails to work when the file is in a folder, such as lesson01? What actually happens? What sort of files don't work in the root? Without more details, it's impossible to help.
    If site_check.php is in C:\XAMPP\htdocs\valsoo\lesson01, you should be able to access the file through http://localhost/valsoo/lesson01/site_check.php.

  • Document Server not working properly on Vista and website

    I just got a new PC with Vista Home premium edition and Document server is definitely not working the same as it did on my XP. I know it's an old program so I guess it's finally be time to buy the new stuff but why won't it work on the website I utilized it with? I'm using it with a basic html website that contains no flash (some rollovers though) and it still doensn't transfer over properly.     I mad the biggest mistake when I bought all new Windows Vista Pc's. They dont work very well with many products. I tried to format and install a Vista PC and put Windows XP Pro on it but I had so many troubles since I need every new driver in the world. I now just use Adobe Document Server on my Laptop that has XP Pro on it. Works great on there.

  • Ping Flash Media Server not working

    I just installed trial FMS on my XP Pc and I also installed
    IIS. I can login FMS control fine and see the applications ( this
    website sample code) that are inside applications folder.
    Unfortunately, the applications were not working, although the

  • Use Server Cert in Managed server not working

    I am using WebLogic 10.3.3 for a managed server with a jks keystore and jrockit cacert as the Custom Identity and Java Standard Trust. I have the FQDN as the alias for the server in the keystore. Under Advanced, I have checked Use Server Cert so outgoing web service calls from my deployed application will use the server cert as its identifier. I have used this configuration before, but it is not working this time.
    At first, there were some weird Unsupported OID messages when loading the cacerts, but I was able to clear those messages up. Now, when the managed server comes up, the keystore and cacert file load without error, but the outgoing calls do NOT have the certificate included.
    I have no failures regarding the certificates in any of the output files. I have tried two separate keystore files without change. Any help would be appreciated.

    You can re-create the SSL handshake with a command line java app that uses the same keystores. Is it possible that the service you're invoking is no longer requesting the client cert?

    Hi - I am switching computers and have reinstalled Outlook 2007.  When I add my account  it asks for incoming/outgoing mail server information from my ISP.   I am unable to look on previous laptop set up as the "repair"
    portion of account is not highlighted and I can't get to that level to see it. I contacted my ISP (Comcast) who provided: Incoming Server: mail.comcast.net and Outgoing Server: smtp.comcast.net.  They also provided incoming mail server: port
    number 995 (POP3) 110 (POP3); and outgoing mail server: 465(SMTP) 587(SMTP).   This is not working.     Who has a solution?
    P.S. Comcast is my new provider as of 3 weeks ago and no issues with old laptop--also that would not have been my incoming/outgoing server information then.  thank you

    I try:
    Parameters:  pa_waers TYPE WAERS.
    WAERS is a ddic data element for currencies and also a  domain with this name exists. The domain WAERS has a check table TCURC.
    When I press F4 for my field PA_WAERS in the Selection Screen, I assume a value help from the check table TCURC.
    I activated and re-generated my coding (as mentioned in the ABAP-Keyword help for "PARAMETERS") but it still does not work.
    Does anybody has a clue why this does this not work.
    The same thing is for a parameter:
    Parameters ..... type CTU_MODE.
    Domain CTU_MODE has value Fields (A, E, B) but also here on my program no F4 help occurs.

    A value table is assigned to a domain.  It becomes a check table when a foreign key relationship is established for a field in a table.  The field uses the data element and the data element uses the domain.
    For example, if you try:
    PARAMETERS: PA_WAERS TYPE EKKO-WAERS.
    You will get the F4 help you are looking for.  If you use tran SE11 and view EKKO, find field WAERS, use tab Entry Help/check and you will see that table TCURC has been established as a check table.  You can use the foreign key button to see the relationship that has been established between EKKO and TCURC.
    Also, domains cannot be used to type a field.  Your reference to CTU_MODE must be referring to a Data Element.  I tried this in a 4.7 system and the F4 works for me.  What version are you using?

    Hi Ravi, from the Release Notes for Content Server 5.0.2, there's this note "Publish Dialog does not show any error when search index fails but an error "com.plumtree.search.UnknownTypeException: IndexManager.enqueue() : Could not find PTDocMaker for key PTCONTENTTEMPLATE" is recorded in pcs.log. (Issue #27541) "
    So you should make sure that the search server is running (just by doing a banner search). Assuming that's fine (it probably is), the likely culprit is an installation problem. Check the Content Server pcs.log file (located in PT_HOME\ptcs\5.0\settings\logs) for any error messages related to search api initialization. This cryptic error you're observing occurs when the search api initialization fails for some reason, the error is not gracefully caught and surfaced to the user. The pcs.log file may give a clue.
