BT don't want my money...

Just got my PAC code to leave BT anywhere this morning, despite having actually called to renew for a year..
BT have some bizarre pricing policies.  I was quite happy to renew for a year keeping my current S710, but they would only let me renew for 18 months, and zero discount on my broadband, if I kept anywhere.
However if I cancel anywhere I can get a discount on my BB renewal, and renew for 12 months.
End result: BT have now lost my mobile business, and made it a lot easier to switch providers at next BB renewal.

You didn't need to renew.
Your contract would have continued on a month-by-month basis until you gave them notice to cancel.
Sure, at the full price of 30 quid a month.
Allowing the mobile to continue month-by-month while renewing broadband with a discount is not allowed.
Hence the sensible option for me is to take my mobile business elsewhere, and renew bb only, as they will then offer better terms.
Why it is sensible for BT not to want to keep taking my fiver a month, while I continue to use the old phone they have already paid for, I do not quite know.  Maybe they don't want to make a profit?
