BT drop line socket. No! I do not have an NTe5 soc...

Hi, the drop line enters my house (built 1977) and connects to a simple oval junction box with four screw connections for incoming and outgoing wires.
As I am getting very erratic (not erotic) broadband speeds varying from 150kbps to the best 3.9meg in a 8meg area I decided to rewire the property to see if that is the problem as the BB supplier (Demon) says the problem is within my property. Demon seem to be insistent I have a NTE5 socket!
To test their theory I have taken a short wire to my own master socket from the incoming drop line socket as described but no improvement.
My question is this......I appreciate I will have an erotic experience if I touch the BT terminal socket but what can I do to improve connections from that?  Do I install a NTE5 alongside it and go from there?
Solved!

  • I have a BT line/socket, but BT does not have it o...

The first time I signed up with BT, I told them I had a BT socket.
Consequently, the very nice man went to check the records and discovered that yes, there was a BT line in my house, but it was under a different address name (I have no idea why I have two addresses!)
Now I am signing up with BT again, same residence, but everyone keeps insisting to me that there *Is no record of having a BT line at that address, and that I have been completely disconnected"
Anyhow, I spent 5 hours on the phone being tossed around departments in a circle - this does not bother me, what bothers me is that I have to wait 3 gruelling weeks for an engineer to come to my house to say nothing needs to be done, then activate it.
How on earth does one speed up the process? I clearly don't need a line installed. I just need it activated again at the hefty sum of 125 £.
    Any advice is appreciated

    Just an update.
Finally got through to someone capable in the BT help department. He said he can activate it within 3 days instead of '3 weeks'
Just letting everyone know that BT does get many things wrong *cross* I've been lied to and misled, but all that doesn't frustrate me as long as I get my line back up and running >:/
Problem: BT's records and refusal to admit I have a line in my house (which I can see with my own two eyes)
Solution: Tell them they're wrong and make them change their records.
    Total hours on phone: 8.

  • Aerender error: "Unable to execute script at line 95. Window does not have a constructor"

A BG Renderer user is getting this error when running aerender version 10.5.1x2:
"Unable to execute script at line 95. Window does not have a constructor"
The render proceeds but the process never completes which is preventing the rest of the BG Renderer notifications from triggering.  Any idea what this error means and how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

I guess we'll have to wait for Adobe to answer what could be causing the transmission to drop on Line 95. Todd's out of the office for a month or two, but maybe someone else can shed some light.

What the meaning of these word?

Is there another way of accomplishing the above?

    Yeah, Anthony,

This bug is fixed in the Sun C++ 5.8. If you have a
service contract you can escalate this problem for
Sun C++ 5.7. It looks like there is no workaround for
this bug.BTW, do you have the bug ID for this specific error? coz I need to show evidence for it to give reason for an upgrade.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot send email. When I click Write the window does not open properly. Does not have the "send, spelling, attach security save" line.

Cannot send email. When I click Write the window does not open properly. Does not have the "send, spelling, attach, security, save line there. Then when I click File, then Send now it will not send. A message comes up saying my SMTP server failed. Have check and everything appears to be o.k.

    Hi Stephen,
What version of MS Office are you using?
Are you facing the issue similar to that mentioned here: Acrobat/Reader: Attach to Email button not working for PDFs referenced from long URLs
Open Acrobat. Use the click-path Edit - Preferences - select the Category "Email Accounts". In the dialog there is the "Add Account" drop-down. Select "Add Other". The "Add Webmail Account" dialog presents. You'll fill out the dialog's fields with Outlook.com settings. (don't forget the "Advance Settings" button)
From a look-see on the web it appears that the following are the needed settings. BUT, you'll be wanting to validate.
The Outlook.com SMTP server settings for sending outgoing messages from an email program on desktop, cell phone or mobile device are:
    • Outlook.com SMTP server address: smtp.live.com
    • Outlook.com SMTP user name: Your full Outlook.com email address (not an alias)
    • Outlook.com SMTP password': Your Outlook.com password
    • Outlook.com SMTP port: 587
    • Outlook.com SMTP TLS/SSL encryption required: yes
For incoming messages from an Outlook.com account to an email program using POP, use the Windows Live Hotmail POP3 server settings.
The Outlook.com POP server settings for downloading new incoming messages to email program, cell phone or mobile device are:
    • Outlook.com POP server address: pop3.live.com
    • Outlook.com POP user name: Your full Outlook.com email address (not an alias)
    • Outlook.com POP password: Your Outlook.com password
    • Outlook.com POP port: 995
    • Outlook.com POP TLS/SSL encryption required: yes

  • No Connectivity on line - rebooting Westell 7500 does not help

    Hi All,
We've been having sync issues for well over 2 weeks now. Sometimes hard rebooting the Westell 7500 (Model:A90-750015-07 - firmware ver: 5.01.00.02) will allow the line to stay up for a day or so.
But since yesterday, nothing has helped. The line will come up and stay up for maybe 5-10minutes and then drop again.
Calling the VZ support line is very frustrating since the "robot" menus do not help to get us to actual support personnel. The one time we got past the automated system, the lady said we had reached the wrong dept. and dropped us back to the robot
I am working from home, so all of this is total time and monely loss. Currently a different internet connection helped to manage post this.
Anyway, here are some "all event" logs we could collect today - (we are in an apartment and do not have access to any NID).

  • Legality of master line socket

Hi, When we moved into our rented accomodation the telephone access point in the lounge did not work. I searched the house for a master socket but couldn't find one.
So I called the rental agency, and they sent one of their employees out who did some adhoc messing about (there were two access points in the lounge) and he cut some wires and bodged a connection together from a combination of both sockets.
Our BB connection has always synched much lower than it should, which I have always put down to dodgy internal wiring & not being able to find the master socket hasn't helped.
Now a friend has identifed that the access point in the lounge is actually a very ancient master socket. I have read that it is against the law to touch or modify the master socket which is BTs property.
However as I work from home I would really like to get the speed sorted out and have a decent master socket fitted.
    So I have several questions,
    1) If we get an engineer out, are there any legal ramifications of the socket being modified (I can happily point them to the man who did it - but he does own the rental agency we rent the house from, so it could jeopordise our accomodation)
    2) Who would be liable for the bill to repair / replace the master socket?
I would love to get some advice from an actual BT rep if possible please?
EDIT: Does anyone from BT read or respond on these forums?

I think some master sockets have terminals for the user to attach extension wiring so that would be legal whilst any work up to that point would not and your old socket probably has not got that feature
Master sockets do not have a customer connection point, only line boxes (NTE5) do
    Several misconceptions creeping in here.
1  An NTE5 is a master socket. It does have customer-accessible terminals. How else do you think extension wiring would be attached ?
2  Very old sockets are identifiable by having no split in the faceplate. They date from the days when BT provided and owned all the wiring, and there was no need to have a demarcation point between BT and the customer's network. If that is what exists, it should be replaced at no cost by BT Openreach during any fault tracing work. If you just want it replaced, you will be charged (lots !).
3  Any work undertaken by BT to sort out bodged customer wiring will be charged. The person who will be charged is the current owner of the telephone line account - regardless of who actually did the deed. There's no question of prosecution these days (if there ever was).
4  It's perfectly possible for bodged wiring to screw up DSL sync speeds, without necessarily introducing noise interference. If the wiring has been "Tee'd" in to circuit (that is - forming a sort of "Y" with one input and two outputs), it can cause a large "Impedance discontinuity". This will ruin the "Frequency response" of the line and this will cause lowered sync rates. (This is a common problem in customers' wiring, but some electricians and telecom technicians aren't aware of this).
Getting this fixed is up to the person who pays the line rental.  It's quite clear that someone has badly bodged the wiring, and it needs a professional (that is - a BT technician) to sort it out. This has to be paid for. The OP made a fair point about not upsetting the landlord - but it's the landlord who has been let down by a cowboy handyman.

  • Systemd: Socket service syslog.service not loaded, refusing [SOLVED]

I have installed systemd as mentioned in the wiki alongwith initscripts and I use "init=/bin/systemd" in kernel line to start it.
I am getting this systemd error "Socket service syslog.service not loaded, refusing" at boottime. This is the only error that comes. I have tried to check the wiki and google and found following links:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=147640
    http://www.spinics.net/lists/hotplug/msg05295.html
There is apparently a solution to this:
    http://www.spinics.net/lists/hotplug/msg05296.html
But it is too technical for me to understand and implement; and it is not for Arch linux. Please help.

My Pavilion dv7-3165dx recently had a total HDD failure, first I tried to order an OEM replacement HDD from the HP parts sales phone line, but they only offered a smaller HDD as their listed replacement for my laptop. I finally got them to inform me that the tech support line might be able to sell me the OEM HDD. On calling the tech support line I was able to order the correct HDD, and it came with a set of recovery DVDs to install Win 7, and the other OEM partitions on my new HDD. This being the case if your HDD has failed you may want to call the tech support line to find out if they have an OEM HDD, and the recovery DVDs to go with your machine.

  • What is this message: Base Line Date for rule 11 not set ?

    Hello all,
    I am doing some test.
    Cenario:
I need to create a Scheduling Agreement in transaction: VA41
The material I am using to create the VA41, I have just created.
I created in MM01 the views: Basic Datas 1 and 2, Sales View 1,2 and 3 and Account View 1.
    Issue:
When I am creating the VA41 and I enter the material, the system shows the messages:
    1) Dates from:: Base line date for rule 11 not set
    2) Dates from:: Base line date for rule 9 not set
*obs: the messages dos not block the creation of VA41. It is a information message.
    Question:
What that means? What will happen if I do not fix that? What should I do in order to not have more these messages?
    Tks & Rgds,
    Barbara

My iphone is not working, i was planning on getting the iphone 5s for christmas, but i do not have my phone backed up on itunes. On my screen are these blue lines across on my screen, and i cant see anthing and i do not know what to do. I want to back up my phone but i cant see my screen to back it up. I need help badly. Thanks apple hope you can help me in this matter.

You wouldn't need to see the screen to backup unless you have a passcode on the device. Is that the case? You should be able to plug the device into the computer with iTunes and just select backup now.

  • Firefox 6. When right clicking a tab no drop-down menu appears. Why do I not have the option to pin, unpin, etc.

I'm using Firefox 6 with all current updates. This is on a desktop pc running Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
At some previous time I was able to pin tabs - I pinned three. Lately I do not have a drop-down menu when right clicking on a pinned or unpinned tab. The feature is just not there.

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />
