BT Fon Connection delay?

Hi all
Does anyone know how long it takes between activating BT Fon on my HH v2 and the service going "live"? I went through the activation a week ago but it is still showing that Fon is not activated. I've tried the obvious disconnect, leave it a while and re-connect, but that has not worked.
Anyone know?

Hi RayB, the published time is supposedly upto 14 days, however it seems that the server can sometimes "miss" certain Hubs if it unable to identify the Hubs serial number, if it is still not broadcasting then contact the BT Openzone helpdesk and advise them of the problem, they will need your hub serial number so have this ready.  BT Openzone are on 08000 22 33 22

  • BT Fon connection on Ubuntu

I am trying to connect with BT Fon on Ubuntu 12.4. I can connect to other wireless connections listed in Network connections, and my own using my key. But the BT Fon appears to connect but my browser says serve not found.
I have looked at endless Google pages on this question and nobody know the answer, or those who say they do have not actually tried it for themselves.
The best I can find out is that BT Fon connection can only be established in Windows, as Windows has a piece of vital software not available to Ubuntu. I can connect to BT Fon on my Windows laptop, so this seems to be correct.
Help would be most appreciated – even if it is to confirm that BT Fon is not possible on Ubuntu.

Well, it is very strange because on the Ubuntu forum it says you cannot connect to BT Fon because only Windows has a special software for it which is not available on Ubuntu. Are you really sure you are connecting to BT Fon and being able to log in? The log in is the bit that counts. I seem to connect bur Firefox says it cannot find the server.
I take it you are not using Ubuntu within Windows or in Virtual Box?

  • Bt openzone/FON connection issue

Ok so I often use this specific btopenzone wifi hotspot, used it for a couple hours every now and again for ages. Hit a problem now though my laptoop no longer connects to it. it sees it i click connect but it just keeps coming up no internet connection. Help/ This is the only wifi thing that it dont connect to.

It could be down to the hub2 (if this is being used) as there is a known issue whereby it caches ALL passing wireless devices which then jams the hub and stops the connection to Fon/Openzone - a reset of the hub is the only known cure, though BT are rolling out an update to sort this out.
The other thing is that occasionally and I don't know why, we lose the ability to connect to random hotspots. Without any changes, the ability returns after a few days. Keep trying the same hotspot or as I said earlier, try another one to see if you also can't connect to this one. What about your own hub's Fon/Openzone hotspot, can you connect to this?

  • BT wifi & BT Wifi with Fon connection issue

in the last 5 days I've had  issues connecting to BT Wifi and BT Wifi with Fon. I'm connecting using an iPhone and iPad so when I use the BT Wifi app for logging in it constantly says check details (which are correct) and then it will connect but then log off and won't connect for ages. It will sometimes connect one device but not the other.
When I try connect using the browser page I get a message ' maximum number of sessions reached'.
Has anyone any idea what causes this, what it means and a possible solution?
ps I tried email BT but they don't seem to care as i've not received a reply,  thanks BT

    Hi Gioabb,
    Welcome to the forum.
Can I just check, is this problem happening with several hotspots or just the one?

  • BT FON connection issue

Hello, I got my BT infinity installed on Thursday and it was working fine, but Saturday morning the infinity box was broken, currently a new box is being sent, but until the box is received I've been told we should use BT FON. I connected to it fine (Laptop) but my son's computer can't connect to it (web page). You connect to BT FON, then you would go on to a web browser and get directed to the page where you have to sign in using your bt email. On my son's computer he connects to BT FON with limited access, but when he goes onto a web browser it does not direct him to any page. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Linda.

I've been looking into this for a while now but I've finally fixed it. It didn't automatically receive urls. FIXED

  • Having LDAPS intermittent connection delays of 30sec - 3 min on DSEE 6.3.1

After a lengthy evaluation, we've been running 6.3.1 for a couple of months now in production. Just recently we've been experiencing issues with delayed connections to the server. The delays seem to happen in increments of 30 seconds - sometimes as long as 3 minutes (e.g. :30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30) - although many seem to be 2:30 min. Access logs show that no search or modify operations occur during this period - just connection closures (either B4 or T1 tags). It's as if the DSEE software thinks the network has disappeared. Once the period of time is up, operations resume normally. Does not happen at fixed intervals - can be working fine for 2-3 hours and then hit a snag. Needless to say, some of the users hitting the directory have shorter time-outs than the 2-3 minutes this can take to resolve itself, so there are complaints. Error log does not provide any information except that there are no entires in it for the duration of the service disruption. Note that all connections to this server are SSL connections(LDAPS). I think I ruled out the network as this problem happens even when ldapsearches are issued from the localhost box. The system does not seem to be stressed that I can tell - iostat shows minimal disk usage, prstat shows under 8% CPU utilization.
    Particulars:
    Platform: Sparc Solaris 10
    Hardware: T2000 16GB RAM
    Software: DSEE 6.3.1
A couple of theories - Java garbage collection? Thread count issues? Solaris 10 listener issue?
Has this been seen before? Please help!
    Thanks.

DPS tends to be the answer to the kind of rate limiting you are talking about. You can define a specific connection handler for a particular pattern of bind dn, send the connections to a specific view that uses a data source pool with whatever limits you want.
On the subject of open connections, I can tell you that in one of my load tests on 6.3, I was able to get a throughput of ~30K ops/sec using rsearch with 10 threads (i.e., 10 open connections). The etimes on those operations were in the 20 - 40 ms range, very acceptable performance. When I increased the number of threads to 100, I got the exact same throughput, but etimes increased substantially. When I raised the number of threads to 1000, I again got ~30K ops/sec but average etimes were over one second!
There is a polling thread configuration that can increase the number of threads available to handle incoming requests, but raising it did not change the results appreciably. So I would tend to agree that one key to your performance is limiting the number of open connections to the Directory in the first place. DPS is an excellent way to accomplish this. DPS can also offload SSL computing from your DS if you have the network security to terminate SSL at the proxy and use LDAP only to your DS systems.
Two additional thoughts regarding your OP.
    - The 30 second interval is suspicious. Have you explained it? Does your connection flurry happen on a 30 second interval? What is your db checkpoint interval?
    - BINDs aren't neccesarily all that expensive, but they can be if they induce writes. Do you have any password policies turned on?

  • BTwifi or FON connection problem

I've been using BTwifi or FON outside of my home for about a year. Connection was absolutely fine but recently I moved house using with BT new contract but using same email account. last few months was alright but recently I got problem that my phone has been connected with BTwifi or Fon but need to wait a long time for connection. Most of the time fail to connection. There was no problem for a year in a same location I used to connection but why I've login problem now a days? Any one help??? Please????/

If you're trying to connect to a particular home hub hotspot, there could be a number of reasons for failure as it depends on the hub being turned on, the signal being strong enough, the owner not using their broadband heavily, etc. Have you tried elsewhere?

  • Connection delay when connected to a network

    Hi,
I just want to know if some body can tell me what I am doing
wrong. I have installed Oracle database server 8.1.6 on my pc
(with W2000), and I have running two database on it. The point
is that when I have it connected to my network and I try to get
connected to them, I have a delay of almost 20 seconds that I
think it is the time it spends on finding where the database
are. Of course, when I switch off my network adapter, the
    connection goes really fast.
I have been trying to find what it is wrong with my
configuration. I have change the ../etc/hosts file from w2000 to
make myself visible (ip localhost). I have been looking for the
correct configuration of the listener, and I think it is ok. I
have been too through the services configuration and even think
    that there are ok.
So, I don4t know what it is wrong.
If some body think that could help me but it need more
details, just send me and email and thanks in advance.
Thanks and sorry for my english,
    Angel Pereyra.

You could create a VPN user account for your Mac and restrict yourself to only work-related web sites while connected to the VPN. That is what I've done in the past.
You might also try Parental controls on yourself. You could probably do it with Little Snitch as well.

  • Mobile WiFi Unlock/Connection Delay

So here's the deal. My Xperia Z & my XB1 are the only things on the 5GHz band.
    Here is the problem;
When I unlock my phone I experience a 3 minute delay before my phone actually processes data. I know its not the phone as my friends sky and fathers plusnet doesn't do this.
    - It also will not receive notifications when the phone is locked. Again it didn't do this on other ISPs just this one.
    - it had stopped for a while but after resetting the router it started up again.
Also this delay happens when you connect yo the WiFi for the first time.
    Any ideas would be great.

Make sure that smart setup is turned off, on the home hub.

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection - Delayed Keystrokes

As I have to access a Windows Server Server 2008 R2 machine at work frequently, I downloaded Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client. Unfortunately, I noticed that it's hardly possible to work fluently on the remote machine because every single keystroke takes up to one or two seconds to be displayed.
Therefore I tried to access the server from a virtual Windows XP installed with Parallels on my Mac. First I wasn't able to see any improvement by using XP but then I changed the preferences of the virtual machine. As soon as I'd changed the network mode from "Shared Network" to "Bridged Network" Remote Desktop on Windows worked a lot more fluently and characters appeared right after striking a key.
Of course I would prefer to use the Remote Desktop Client directly on my Mac if it was possible. As I had such a strange experience by changing the network mode in Parallels, I wondered if there were any known firewall or network adapter issues on a Mac which would explain all these problems.
If you had any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
    Romanli

I use RDC to access a Windows machine remotely via a Juniper Networks remote access setup. I haven't experienced excessive keystroke lag on either a G4 iMac (Tiger) or an i7 iMac (Snow Leopard) using a DSL connection.
Here are two things to check, assuming the problem is not with your Internet connection:
    1. Make sure you are using version 2.0.1 of RDC, unless your Mac is running an OS X version older than 10.4.9.
    2. It looks like you're running an Intel Mac so make sure RDC is not running under Rosetta. To do this, highlight the RDC app in your Applications folder (or wherever you have it installed) and click the "More info" button (or use the "Get info" menu choice in the Finder). If the "Open using Rosetta" box is checked in the resulting info screen, uncheck it.

  • Connecting to zon- fon free Internet

I have been with Bt since bt openworld and recently had trouble with their router, well actually when it broke it was my router.
Bt eventually supplied another one when I purchased another package. I don't really need another package as I don't use a lot of Internet time in the UK, and was going to quit.
Bt came up with a plan which included bt fon which as I read it enables the user to access the net pretty much worldwide if they open up their router for other foneiros to use.
As I spend the majority of my time in Portugal I thought what a wonderful Idea, I will be able to log into zon-fon free Internet, which is bt,s partner in Portugal.
Its actually impossible as I have only once succeeded on getting onto the landing page. The bt page says that I have opted in and the fon page says that I am an alien.
After some 2 months of looking for a fon-zon hot spot, at first bt said that I should change my location ( I can pick up with good signal strength 2 or 3 fon-zon free Internet spots. Yet cannot get to the landing page. Now either something is desperately wrong with fon or someone is telling fibs or of course my laptop is kaput but it does work more or less everywhere else and it does pick up zon-fon free Internet but I cannot get to the landing page to log in. Has anyone else had this problem in this area ( priai da rocha)
There is little point in staying in either bt or fon if it doesn't work. So far have been very little help even though they are taking the money, for a service they are failing to provide. I have sent in screen shots showing my connection status, Fon seem to want to help but so far haven't come up with any solution. And bt hasn't as yet done anything. I have a suspicion that the fon system was just invented to spy on us anyway, not that that bothers me at all, as the help centre seems to be in the USA, well they call it the help centre. Has anyone any ideas that I can try as I have spent a fortune on 3G wireless dongle time with vodaphone, when it should have been on free wifi.

from a diagnostic tool provided with a sitcom wireless dongle it suggests that I have excellent contact with the fon modem. If the modem wasnt registered to fon then it would not come up as a fon free internet connection. I agree that it seems that the fon modem that I connect to is not connected to the internet but have all five not been connected secondly fon are supposed to check that internet connections are available by testing them. failure to leave your modem available results in you losing your fon status. when I check my fon status with bt mine is ok. so all 5 fon connections breaking the agreement I dont think so. I continue to think that bt are not putting any effort into sorting out bt fon problems . Has any one else in Portugal had any problems with connecting to zon-fon-free-internet. Indeed it should not be a problem for bt to come up with some sort of answer, if anyone has managed to get through someone sensible at Bt I would very much like to know.

  • Acer Aspire One will only connect via Fon now on H...

Since activating Fon on my BT Home Hub my Acer Aspire One - running Linux Linpus - will no longer log on to the 'normal' wireless connection on my hub, only Fon, which has limited bandwidth, etc.
Anybody know why? Have a solution?
I've 'proved' it's the Fon activation my doing a full reset on the hub. My One connected normally until Fon was reactivated, then back to Fon connection only

Re WPA - it was fine until Fon was activated!
When I did a factory reset on the hub the One connected as normal - until Fon reactivated at which point it was back to via Fon only!
As the MAC address for FON and your normal SSID would be the same, perhaps it is seeing your normal SSID and assuming that is FON, and connecting to that in preference to your normal one.
    Really strange problem.......

Thanx for helping :-))) and sorry for my bad english.

Hi Partha. Did you get a solution to your problem with high connection delay times on your server? I'm having a similar problem and saw your post.
