BT FON - I can see the neighbours PC?

I can see my neighbours PC listed in my Windows Network, when I try to access it, it is blank, but I can see his computers name.
Does the same work for him, will he be able to see all the devices I have connected and the names of those devices?
I take it neither of us can access each others networked files, just cannot get my head around why I can even see his computers name?
Is this normal?

Hi Peter8019,
The OP got confused between his router being connected to their private network and thinking their neighbour was connected to their private network.
BTWifi (was previously called BTFon and BTOpenzone-H) is separate to your normal Private BTHome Hub SSID eg BTHub-1234.
So no, no one can access your private home network by connecting through BTWifi.
BTWifi and BTWifi-with-Fon, if the account holder has activated it, will allow BT Customers and members of the public connect to the Internet through that BT Home Hub, but will not allow them access to your private network.

You should be able to see two different tabs when setting up the email if you go to Other > Add Mail Account. Once you enter in the email address and password, you should be at the next screen to provide more details about the email as far as incoming and outgoing servers and at the top there will be a blue section to add it in as a POP or IMAP email account. I would like to use time Machine to back up to a network SMB drive. I can see the drive on my desktop but it will not show in the time machine window to be able to select it

I currently have a mini server (OSX10.8.5, server 2.2.2) that I am using Time Machine to back up 4 external drives that are connected to the server via firewire 800. I would like to use Time Machine to back up to a windows network SMB drive. I can see the drive on my desktop but it will not show in the time machine window to be able to select it for use.

The supported targets for Time Machine backups are local (direct-connected) disks, and network targets include Time Capsule, a disk hanging off the current-generation AirPort (though not earlier AirPort devices), and OS X Server systems.
The Time Machine storage is based on the HFS+ file system, so I would not expect TM to work with SMB file services.
While there are hacks to allow Time Machine to access network drives, I would not consider those to be reliable. Skim the forum and the 'net for related details, and for previous discussions of setting this up and the related issues that can arise.
Remember to test the recovery with whatever you decide to use; whole point of backups is the ability to restore the data, after all.

Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card?

When I turn on itunes on my Mac Notebook 2004 (IOS X 10.4.11) I can see the album as a purchase but it is not listed in my library music nor can I add it to my Itouch 2nd generation. Do you know why? I can access the songs on my iphone but nowhere else.

They will only be on your computer's iTunes if you put them there. If you are in a country where you can re-download music then they should show under the Purchased Link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. If they don't show there then you can connect your phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over.

Congratulations on your new iPhone 5! It sounds like you would like to transfer your ringtones from your iPhone 4 to your iPhone 5.
If the ringtones were purchased from the iTunes Store, you can transfer them to iTunes using the steps in this article:

You and your partner might have different browsers, different versions of the same browser, or most likely a fervent version of the PDF plug-in.
See if just clicking on the Enter key sends the form in.

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

I can see the pics but when I click on the event itself a HUGE exclamation mark pops up and not my pic.

OK..this forum help me locate my iPhoto so HOPEFULLY ya'll can help me w/ 1 another issue. The two problems are related.
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
And that's why you can't export as well.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Hundreds of my iPhoto pictures will not be copied and will not show when I double-click on them. When I do in iPhoto an exclamation surrounded by a triangle appears. Though I can see the picture in the small tiles below it will not expand.

I have already went through all 3 Repair options and when that did not solve it went through a complete Rebuild. Any Help?! Any Suggestions on how to fix this?! I have spent almost 2 days now going through all of the published help.
I have backups going back 6 months - I have not had the real need to check every album before - but - all of my backups also have this same problem.

The triangle with the ! indicates that the connection between the thumbnail and the orginal is missing - this can be caused by many things including database corruption and user action emoving the originals photos on urpose or by accident
If the database is corrupted then rebuilding is the solution - backup and depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your database -- if the iPhoto rebuild does not cure the problem then download iPhoto Library manager and use its rebuild command which creates a totally new library leaving the existing one untouched
If you have deleted the photos then you need to start over with a new library and import the photos you have not deleted into it
You can select one of the problem photos and use the reveal original in finder commander (file menu) to see if the original is there - if it is a finder window will open showing it

IPhoto 08 is gone...can see the icon but doesn't open. Any suggestions?

I was working on getting my Time Capsule to backup my MacBook and erased everything on there. When I restarted and got the time capsule to work i couldn't open my Iphoto anymore and cannot open any new photos that I download..
If I click on the icon it bounces then stops and nothing happens. When i search my applications folder the iphoto application is not there. When i search the "myname"macbook drive>iPhoto I can see the iphoto app. (doesn't open, crashes immediately), the contents folder (the plug-ins disabled and resources disabled items do not open)
Any help would be appreciated.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
If that doesn't help:
Post the Crash Log.
It's at Home / Library / Logs / Crash-Reporter / iphoto.crash.log
Double click on the file and it will open in the Console. Copy and Paste it in here.
