BT Graphite 1500 - answer message sounds like a fa...

Hi,
After years of using the answer machine in a quad phone set-up, the answer phone is now playing a message that sounds like a fax machine.
There is no fax machine plugged in to the phone circuit and it continues even when the IP fax is powered off.  There has been no change to the home set-up for months/years.
The "fax-like" message plays whatever the setting of the phone:  answer and record, answer only or answer phone off.
Tried resetting everything I can and powering off!
Any clues?
Thanks

Are you sure it is the phone causing the problem? could there be something else plugged into another phone socket,
Try unplugging the graphite from the phone line and then call your home number.

  • BT graphite 1500 - answer phone messages cut short

Does anyone know how to stop messages that are left on the answer phone being cut off in the midde when replayed. I cannot find any hlep in the user guides about how to extend the amount of time given to the actual messages left. thanks

I did some searching for you and found that this is a known issue with the graphite 1500. there is a fix for it apparently. i found this on another forum:
"we are experiencing the same problem with a BT Graphite 1500. There is no info on website about this but after experimenting found a fix. if you press the ffwd skip button down until you see the numbers start to swirl then - you can record a msg yourself which i did for 2 mins. this seemed to kick in the answer phone length and now it works fine…"
So it seems like recording your own outgoing message should fix the problem. if you have already recorded an outgoing message, just try and replace it with a fresh one. Post back and let me know if it worked!

  • BT Graphite 1500 answer phone

Hi, I have had my Graphite 1500 for a couple of years, but have found that despite repeated corrections, the day and time for answer phone messages keeps becoming incorrect. For example, I received a message this morning, Monday AM, but the message was timed as Friday PM. I keep resetting to the correct time, but it goes out again. I haven't monitored how long it takes before things go wrong. I read on another post about a different model that this can because if the year is set incorrectly during set up. But there is no option for the year to be entered.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be that someone switched the answer machine off by accident?
Use the "Ans on/off" button to switch the answering machine on or off. By pressing the "Ans on/off" button you can scroll around the 3 options:
    - Answer only;
    - Answer off;
    - Answer and record.
Let us know if that did the trick.

  • BT Graphite 1500 answer machine

the answer machine doesn't allow messages to be recorded.
It answers ok, asks caller to leave a message, then after about 5 seconds closes call and no recording is left.
The answer and record option is on and I have changed the batteries.
    Any ideas?

    Hi phutcherson,
    Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like a fault, how long have you had the phone?

Yes Rosetta has been gone for over two years. You can always search here for how Michael Lax's instructions on how to run SL Server in a virtul environment, but I don't think it is too kind to gamers.
Advice? Buy an old Mac that runs PPC software.

My phone sounds like its breaking up when I call.
Then when the other person answers all I hear is my voice echoing and all they hear is static
Same happens when they call me.
Data over the phone - to Vodaphone - is fine. I can browse. With or without wifi.
My speaker and mic work fine.

I think the fault just developed out of the blue. I called somebody left the phone on the table downstairs the person tried to call me back 11 times and I never heard them. When I tried to call later in the day the phone had an error.
When try to phone my iPhone from the land line the ring tone is perfect but I get the same problem with my iphone just echoing my voice and nothing else - and the landline having loud static and nothing else.

  • 8830 with softward upgrade, sounds like a transform when i am answering the phone.

So wild, when someone call and I hit the green button it sounds like a that sound the transforms make. OR sounds like someone is putting their microphone upto a speaker. I wonder if anyone is having this issue also. 8830 on Bell Mobility, just got the phone as an RMA.
PS- this is my 5th unit this year so I am trying to make sure its not a software issue before I lose it on Bell and RIM.

See earlier post re TINNY SOUND ON 8800 AFTER SOFTWARE UPGRADE.
I've had problems since upgrading 8800 software from ver 4.2,  to ver. 4.5.  So far, no help from BB (RIM) or Rogers.
    Good luck.

  • I got an error message that said my browser had been hijacked and was given a random number to call. The person told me my browser was hijacked and wanted to help me fix it. Sounds like spam to me, how do i fix it?

I got an error msg that my browser was compromised.  Was given an 800 # to call and the person told me he could help me fix it.
He said my browser was hijacked and he wanted to remote into my machine to fix it.  Sounds like spam to me!  How do I protect my
    computer from spam.

Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, close Safari, and then launch it with the Shift key held down. If that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.

  • Graphite 1500 and Synergy 2150 compatibility

    Hi Folks,
    Help required. Story and query:
I had a BT Synergy 2150 with 4 additional 2100 handsets. Eventually I had to replace a couple of the 2100s with 2150s and, later still, swapped the whole thing for a Graphite 1500 Quad set up. Following a question from me, the helpful salesperson at BT assured me I could use one of the working 2150s as the fifth handset - and I did! That handset has now failed, so I should like to use another of the working 2150 handsets as the fifth handset - but I have completely forgotten how I can register this 2150 handset to the Graphite base! Can anyone help?
The Synergy set up was all in the instructions but I can find no instructions for registering with the Graphite. There must be a way as I did it once, successfully.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi Beau_Block
    Welcome to the Community.
Have you referred to the userguides for both phones, I'll be honest this isn't something I am overly technical on, but if you have mislead the userguides you can access them here.
    Synergy 2150
    Graphite 1500
Hope they help let us know how you get on.
    Cheers

  • My Ibook sounds like it working on something but it actually dont! ANNOYING

Been looking for answer through all the forum couldnt finde the right answer. First of all sorry if my English is not correct Im originally from Norway.
Just got my Ibook G4 month ago. And at the beggining I was amazed how silent it working! But few days ago it start to show some behavior. here is symptoms:
It still works very quiet, BUT! when it totally quiet I can hear that even if I do nothing on laptop it still give that tiny sound like processor(?) or harddisk(?) trying to do something. Hard to explain, this sounds like when I open some program computer give this quiet scratching sound when processor starts working. Well thats sound comes and repeats non stop every 10 sec even If I dont do absolutely anything.
I was trying to use disk utility and its appear that everything is allright.
I was trying to monitor computer activity and here is what it shows:
    ACTIVE PROCESSE:
    pmTool ......... root
    Activity monitor
    window server
    config ... root
    kernel_task ... root
Those processes working all the time when I do monitor activity
And this processe appear from time to time
    SystemUIserver
    update.... root
Does anyone have an idea what can cause this "working processes" in my Ibook which gives this tiny sound.
It dosnt seems big problem for me, but it is annoying especially this part that I dont know what can cause that sound. Im totally in love with my Ibook and was really amazed how quiet it is and Im just trying to figure out whats wrong.
By the way since I got it I also installed next programs:
    MSN messenger
    Yahoo messenger
    LimeWire
    Windows media player
    VLC player
    STUFFIT
    DIVX converter
Can any of those programs cause that working sound? Maybe I just shoul reinstall opeariton system?
    Thanks in advance
    ANTON S.

    SUVORKIN,
    Verified is a good status
I don't think reinstalling the system software will fix your problem. Usually hardware makes the noises and software raises the blood pressure. Are you a former Windows user? Lots of EX-Windows users feel like they need to reinstall their system software often, but it is not necessary with Mac OS X. The same thing with defragmenting the hard drive. It isn't needed with a Mac (unless one is making a huge movie and is constantly saving pieces of it - example) because of HFS+ (Hierarchy File System) and HFAC (Hot File Adaptive Clustering). You may want to look at You do not have to defragment your hard drive because of Hot File Adaptive Clustering. You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #25668 on About disk optimization with Mac OS X.
Developer Connection Document on HFS+ Volume Format says,
"Most files on a disk are rarely, if ever, accessed. Most frequently accessed (hot) files are small. To improve performance of these small, frequently access files, they are moved near the volume's metadata, into the metadata zone. This reduces seek times for most accesses. As files are moved into the metadata zone, they are also defragmented (allocated in a single extent), which further improves performance. This process is known as adaptive hot file clustering.
The relative importance of a frequently used (hot) file is called its temperature. Files with the hottest (largest) temperatures are the ones actually moved into the metadata zone. In Mac OS X version 10.3, a file's temperature is computed as the number of bytes read from the file during the recording period divided by the file's size in bytes. This is a measure of how often the file is read."

  • My iphone 4 started making a sound like "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does it at least once a day.  I've reset my phone, used icloud to restore, and it made the sound again upon startup.  Help!  This is so annoying.

My iphone 4 started making a sound like a "boing" with a vibration/ wobbly sound.  It does this at least once a day.  It started about a month ago.  Anyone got any ideas?

Mine does this also, seemingly randomly several times throughout the day.  I do not have this sound as any of my alerts and it does not seem to denote anything like a message, reminder, etc.  I do have "Trapster" on my phone and I went in and tweaked the settings there.  Will repost if that has any efect.

  • ITunes Sounds Like Cr*p All Of A Sudden - HELP!

This afternoon I was enjoying the rockin' tracks on my iTunes as always. All of a sudden the sound dropped down in the middle of a song, not just volume, but bass, tone, presence (you know...sounds like all of a sudden you're listening through a paper towel roll). I checked my speaker connnections, rebooted my computer and iTunes and nothing changed - still sounded lousy. Kindly note, I have Harman Kardon Sound Sticks and Bass and the sound has always been top-flight!
I ventured onto the net and visited several sites w/ audio (BBC Radio, Wolfgang's Vault, YouTube, Apple Movie Trailers) and everything sounded just fine. Went back to iTunes - garbage!
Then I went into a bunch of iTunes radio stations and they all sounded fine as well. Also, the "Sound Effects" alert noises on my iMac are normal. Seems my iTunes playlist is the only thing affected. I checked and unchecked the "sound enhancer" box in preferences and nothing changed.
Can anybody offer help? I work out of my home office and will kill myself it I can't enjoy my music (yes, the work is that boring!).
    Thanks!

The uninstall, reinstall, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, reformat, is valid problem solving advice for a PC but is seldom the best first approach for a Mac. Note this message is in the Using iTunes for Mac section.
