BT HAVE WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST AND MOST USELESS ...

So on the last day of April I was made redundant. Luckily I was headhunted by another company and would restart with them in two weeks time.
I IMMEDIATELY contact BT on the 1st May and explained that I would not be able to settle my outstanding bill until the monday AFTER the 1st June. I was pushing my luck a bit i know, but hey ho...
The customer service liar said that it was fine and that as long as the payment was made on the 3rd june (this would be the following monday, and tomorrow as i write this) then all would be fine.
At that point i thought "blimey what a nice bunch these people are". Little did I know......
Halfway through May my service was restricted and I contacted BT immediately and explained. They said they would listen to the call and get back to me...
They did.....
admitted it was their fault and reconnected me assuring me once again that it would be ok to settle the account on the 3rd June.
All was good once again...
Until yesterday (1st June) when I awoke to find the service suspended once again.
So here I was on the phone to them on and off (due to them often disconnecting me and not bothering to call back) for 3 hours. I was told that a manual reconnection had gone through and that it would be working within 24 hours.
I emphasised how important it was that I had internet connection today as I was to chair a conference call for work for a multi-million pound contract and as I had to VPN into our office system to do it it was VITAL it would be working.
PROMISED (laughable) that it would be.
Awoke today.... still no service... contacted BT and was told they could see no manual reconnection yesterday, but they would rush it through and it would DEFINITELY be working within two hours.
TWO HOURS LATER.... still not working.
Rang BT and told them I was SUICIDLE with the hassle this was causing me and threatened to JUMP OFF THE NEAREST TALL BUILDING. I spoke to a chap called "Eddie in the Special Services Dept" He assured me that it wasnt worth ending my life over BTs actions and whilst i totally agree with him, made it clear that it was definitley an option.
He told me as he was in the "special" dept he could make sure that my BB service was restored immediately and even went off to speak with a FEW departments to make sure that my service was working.
"OK Mr *********" he said thats all working now. I explained I was not at home to check but would be home about 8.30pm. He told me to reboot my router when I got home and SWORE TO ME that it would all be working.
ITS **bleep** WELL NOT!!!!!
Therefore... BT you can keep your service. I WILL NOT BE PAYING THE OUTSTANDING BILL AT ALL. I will also be sending an email to Warren Buckley first ting in the morning regarding this and also Mickey Boy Rake too so that they can see just what us customers have to put up with.
Now before you guys say, you should have paid your bill, had I have been told that it was not ok, I would have borrowed money and gotten myself into debt to pay it. But because I was told it was OK I feel that it should have been ok.
BT please feel free to disconnect my services completely and supply me with a MAC code so I can move to another provider. Feel free to sue me for any outstanding balance as I would love to be givine the opportunity to argue this out over a courtrrom table.
Rant over..

    Transferring your prepaid cellular data account depends on your carrier. AT&T lets you move it yourself when you go to Cellular Data in Settings and log into your account with your previous AT&T user name and password. For iPads with Sprint service, you can set up an account on the new iPad and contact Sprint Customer Care (888-211-4727 and go through the menus) to deactivate the old plan and get credit for unused service. For Verizon, call the company’s customer service number for mobile broadband support (800-786-8419) and ask to have your account transferred.

  • I have signed to up to iCloud and am pretty sure that all of my settings are turned on appropriately. However I get syncing from iCloud to my Mac and to my iPhone, but I am unable to get my iPhone to sync with the iCloud and most obviously calendar events

    I have signed to up to iCloud and am pretty sure that all of my settings are turned on appropriately. However I get syncing from iCloud to my iMac and to my iPhone, but I am unable to get my iPhone to sync with the iCloud and most obviously calendar events, so that if adding an event on my iPone it never appears on my other hardware? Can anyone help me sort this out?

    Re: check that the appointments in my phone are going into iCloud calendars....exactly how do I do this?  I fear this is a really stupid question!
    My iCloud account is set up with my Apple ID as one email account (for example [email protected]) which is the email account I use to sign up for internet sites like Amazon, Apple,etc, so that I can differentiate vendors/mass emails.  But my default calendar on my iPhone is in a different email name (ie [email protected]) which I use for most communications to friends, relatives, etc. and it is this account that holds most of my appointments.  To further complicate things I have other email accounts that I use for business/professional and community work.  If I want all my calendars to show on my iPhone AND sync to my iCloud, do I set this at the phone level or the iCloud level?  or both?
    Let me clarify....It looks like if I go into appointments that I previously set up through my personal account (ie above [email protected]) and edit the entry on my iPhone, selecting the iCloud "home" calendar within the entry, it will then sync to my iCloud account, no problem....do I have to do this to EVERY entry I have? or is there  a way to name my personal account as one to sync to iCloud?

    Hello I have an imac with os x 10.7.5 and I have some doubts:
    the new version of garageband 10.0.2 is compatible with os x 10.7.5?
    I have not installed mavericks. should I install?
    Thanks!!

    It requires 10.9 or later.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
    You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
    To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • My 2009 iMac gets stuck on the grey Apple logo when booting up.  It boots correctly when in safe mode. I have tried erasing the HD and re-installing from a USB installer. It says the install is complete, but after restarting it gets stuck on the Apple log

    My late 2009 27" iMac gets stuck on the grey Apple logo when booting up.  It boots correctly when in safe mode. I have tried erasing the HD and re-installing from a USB installer. It says the install is complete, but after restarting it gets stuck on the Apple logo again.  This could possibly be an HD failure, but then why does Safe Mode still work and the USB install not work?  Any ideas?

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Linking to an OBIEE report without showing the user and password

    Hi!
    we are trying to access to an obiee report from an external portal (coded with php).
    The idea is that the user clicks on a link an gets the report in pdf format. For that purpose we are using this url:
    http://ttivobiee01:7001/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=/shared/Prueba/ogp_obi&Action=Print&P0=1&P1=eq&P2="Criteria"."Key"&P3=1402&NQuser=user&NQPassword=pass&format=pdf
    But this url is expossing OBIEE's user and password.
    In order to avoid this security issue we tried to do an wget of the url but it doesn't return the report. Instead we get an html, which seams to download the report chunk by chunk (using javaScript).
    The question is, is there any way that we could let our portal ussers access to an obbie report without expossing the user and password?
    I have been looking into oracle forums and have found this: OBIEE Go URL with password protected
    but we couldn't use this aproach due to security issues.
    Thanks!
    Nuria

    Hi!
    We have finally done this (and it works!)
    <?php
    $urlInforme='http://obi:7001/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=/shared/Prueba/ogp_obi&Action=Print&P0=1&P1=eq&P2="Criterios"."Clave oficial"&P3=1402&NQuser=user&NQPassword=pass&format=pdf';
    $ch = curl_init($urlInforme);
    $ckfile = tempnam ("./", "CURLCOOKIE");
    $ch = curl_init ($urlInforme);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, $ckfile);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
    $output = curl_exec ($ch);
    $ch = curl_init ($urlInforme);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE, $ckfile);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
    $fp = fopen("salida.pdf", "w");
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FILE, $fp);
    $output = curl_exec ($ch);
    curl_close($ch);
    fclose($fp);

    See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.

    Ive repaired 1000s of laptops over the years (translate: diagnose and replace parts).
    Its not that old, Ive owned 100s of laptops (most were free) ....some I still have are nearly 13 years old and still perfect, ....some extremely expensive ones died in under a year.
    other than becoming obsolete at some point, there isnt really any "will spoil on" data like Milk for solid state computer parts, ....alas.
    You can have a $5000 laptop die in 4 months, and a junker one keep kicking after 10 years.... Ive seen that firsthand countless times.
    Common logic dictates that "very expensive = long life" in computers,..... but all the repair people will tell you just the opposite.
    I know you have a gripe, I get that all too well honestly .

  • How to download the same song(track) with different keys? iTunes seems to think I have already downloaded the song and will not download the song in a different key of the Demo Track

    How to download the same song(track) with different keys? iTunes seems to think I have already dowloaded the song and will not let me download the song in a different key or the Demo.

    Hello Jigz19,
    It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:
    Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1920
    Open iTunes
    Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
    Choose File > Get Info.
    Click the Summary tab.
    The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
    If so, then delete the songs:

    It may be in the process of making room.  What version of OSX are you on?    (That process can be excruciatingly slow on Leopard or Snow Leopard backups over a network;  Lion has improved it greatly.)
    A clue may be lurking in your logs.  Use the widget in #A1 of  Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs.   That should help you figure out what's going on.  If in doubt, copy and post them here (but if the same ones repeat over and over, drop most of the duplicates).
    If you can, connect via Ethernet; it will be 2-3 times faster.

    I have the same thing happening on my iPod Touch 5th gen. Been happening for at least a month. I have updated to the most recent version of iOS which hasn't solved the issue. Must be a bug that they didn't get around to resolving yet, a year later. Really annoying to have it pop up when you are in the middle of a game though.
