BT HH5 drops connection while port fowarding

Hi guys,
I have recently been attempting to port foward my HH5 but with no success.
After I forward it to my PC, the internet will drop and will not come back on unless factory reset.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks,
Conor

  • The solution to the HH5 dropping connections - cha...

I moved to BT two months ago and had nothing but dropped connections. The HH5 would keep it's connection to the 'net but throw off every piece of equipment connected (wired or wifi) with monotonous regularity before then reconnecting that same equipment. Three HH5s and one major update gave no change. One swap to a TP Link W9980 at under £70 and all my problems have gone away. The HH5 can only be described as a crippled pile of garbage. Quite how or why BT are unable to effect a fix is a mystery. Many others have gone with a different router/modem and all that I've seen have reported a similar result to myself. Others still have gone openreach modem and HH5 as a router only with success. I didn't want to go that route as the router part seemed to be the issue for me.
There will be many who say "why should I part with £70" and I fully understand that stance. Equally if BT were ever going to fix this they would have done by now so adopting that posture will likely get you nothing but more of what you've had. Ultimately it's your call.

My one is also working pretty well and the main unit has been up since I got it System Up Time:5 day(s) 09:35:46
In the event log which it seems only to keep for 24hrs it does mention perhaps once a day a brief loss of connection

  • HH5 dropping connection - new firmware version

Does anyone know the version number of the new firmware for HH5 that's meant to fix this issue so I can establish if I'm running it or not?
    My HH5 says the folowing:
BT Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 | Last updated Unknown
The fact the last update is unknown suggests to me that it hasn't updated recently, but I may be wrong about that.
There's a BT.com page that lists the "latest versions", but it appears well out of date and quotes 4.7.5.1.83.8.173.1.6
My broadband service was only connected on February 16 and worked properly for just eight hours before starting the three-minute or so drop-connection-and-reboot cycle it's been on ever since.
After 15 years trouble-free cable broadband access with Virgin at my old address, you can imagine I'm not impressed.

I did a factory reset at about 12:30.

  • Airport dropping connection while downloading...

I have a problem while downloading torrents from azureus. It only happens when I'm downloading from that app. never from iTunes or amazon. My internet connection still show good on the modem and the green light is still on the Airport. But I lose all bars showing on my computer.
    Any ideas?
    thanks.

I edited my post and it seemed to post twice.

  • Airport Express dropping connections while streaming music

Airport Express once conected to my existing wifi network is not streaming music correctly, instead is dropping without a continuous play.
    Green light is always on.
    Please help

And your reminder of the channels got it fixed. Being out in the country my internet is provided wirelessly (WISP) and  I remembered after your comment that  the tech who installed our receiver dish said that the internet is being broadcast on the 2.5 ghz band on channel 7 and if any issues arise change the channel to a lower number.   Never had an issue till now and updated the channel to 1 and back in business. A big thanks.

  • Mac mini drop connection while transferring data/files

    Hi guys,
I took my second step away from Windows and into Mac by buying the mac mini and gave it as a present to my mom! :-D I love that little thing almost as much as my iBook! First thing my dad said was "where is the rest of it!?" hehe!
Okay, now onto the issue that with the mini. From the very first moment, it is having massive troubles while transferring files from internet as well as my home network. Right in the middle of file transfer, the transfer (for no apparent reason) just stops. I can stil click and minimize it etc. but thats about it. Then Finder freezes and then I end up restarting the mini my hard-reset...Its quite painful to do that...
I can see there are lots of posts in regards to wireless issue of mini, but I couldn't locate the one that resembles mine. I can surf the internet fine, but the problem hits as soon as I try to download something directly. Any ideas? Suggestions?
Oh, Im running a wireless network. My main transfer of files is either from the internet (updating OS X and related files etc.) or to bring in files from my XP-based PC which is on LAN based ethernet. My mini is wifi of course. I don't seem to have any troubles downloading files to my iBook from the same XP PC, but mini isn't able to handle it. Yes, not even the automatic downloads from Apple...
I want to call Apple but they will just blame it on third party stuff! Sometimes I wonder why they are sitting there in the first place! I am not happy with their customer service. Though I love this forum!!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated :-D Thanks, in advance!

I've had a similar problem. I've noticed that when I turn off "Convert higher bit-rate songs to ..." that it seems to resolve it. Try that and see if it solves your problem.

  • WLC 5508 / 2602e LAP / Dropped Connections

We are starting to experience some dropped connections while utilizing a 5508 WLC (SW: 7.4.100.0) with 2602e LAP's.  The connections seem to drop for 1-2 seconds and then reconnect on their own.  Machines and cards are varied.  Any thoughts?

Just adding to Leo, and Rasika..
    Just check these features
The User Idle Timeout: When a user is idle without any communication with the LAP for the amount of time set as User Idle Timeout, the client is deauthenticated by the WLC. The client has to reauthenticate and       reassociate to the WLC. It is used in situations where a client can drop out from its associated LAP without notifying the LAP.
The Session Timeout is the maximum time for a client session with the WLC. After this time, WLC de-authenticates the client, and the client goes through the whole authentication (re-authentication) process again.
This parameter can be accessed from the WLANs > Edit menu.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards

  • BT HH5 Dropping All WiFi connections every few min...

Have been with BT for over a year with no problems with standard BT Broadband and the HH4
2 days ago I was upgraded to BT 'Faster' Broadband and an engineer updated my internal phone socket and I was upgraded to the HH5
Every few minutes it drops connections to all devices connected wirelessly (Android phone, tablet & Chromecast, 2 iPhones, 2 iPads and 2 Windows laptops) Have a PS4, Sky+HD box & Samsun TV connected via wired which don't seem to have problems.
With all the devices losing their connection regardless of manufacturer & my previous HH4 never having a problem, the WiFi connection problem obviously lies with the HH5
BT's troubleshooting is not fit for purpose as it all it does is talk you through getting connected wirelessly, which isn't a problem... staying connected longer than a few mins is.
Is it faulty, is there settings that need altering
    Thanks in advance

have you tried giving the 5 ghz wireless a different SSID

  • BB Torch 9810 Device is dropping calls while connected on a blue tooth car kit

After speaking with a representative previously, I tried deleting the Bluetooth connections from my phone and my 2008 BMW 328xi car, reinstalling this connection, but it still drops the Bluetooth connection while in a call in my car. Please help me.
A tech support rep assisted me in reloading the software on my phone and starting fresh without any third party applications. It seemed like it worked for a while without the problem reoccurring. But now it started again. I don't know if this helps but I did notice that if I continued my cell phone call using my speaker phone (hands free), eventually the phone reconnected with my car without my intervention.
Other issues I have: When backing up my BB to my Mac book thru Desktop Manager 7.1 Bundle 1997 (2.4.0 build 17), if I check off "Back-up built-in media storage," it hangs at "Backing up on-board memory." So I backed it up without this, but it still has an issue after it completed saying that it could not back up "Blackberry Messenger: Unexpected backup error."

I'm in a similar situation.  My old blackberry 8320 worked like a charm with my Buick LaCrosse bluetooth, but the new 9810 torch doesn't.
Both the car and the phone recognize each other, however, when I go to use handsfree and make a call, it never goes through.  I've deleted and added the device several times to no avail.
My torch is running 7.1 bundle 1997 (v7.1.0.694, platform 5.1.0.507).  Right before typing this reply, I attempted to update the bleckberry device only to discover it already had the most up to date OS.
So, if anyone has ANY ideas about how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

It would help if you stated what port your talking about I am guessing your talking about port 80 and webserving.
In order to use a domain name to connect internally to your webserver or any other type of server your router needs to supporit's not easy being greent loopback.
If your router does not support lookback you need to edit your hosts file.
If your trying to connect to the server if it is running on your mac you need to add the following line to your hosts file. you can can use pico to do that.
    sudo pico /etc/hosts
    then add the line
    127.0.0.1 your.site.com
or if the server is on another ip on your lan use its local ip
    192.168.0.5 your.site.com

  • My MBP 15" late 2009 drops internet while still connected to router

I've had this problem ever since I got this laptop, at first I didn't realize something was wrong and only last year did I realize that it wasn't just my old crappy router.
    My Problem:
My MBP drops connection to the internet(1-2 times a day) without disconnecting from my wireless router. This is very odd since the computer rarely goes more than 10 meters away from it and I've never seen this problem on my other machines or my iPhone.
The only temporary fix I've been able to do is to turn my Airport off and on again, somehow the internet works again after this. But still it isn't a proper fix, me being somewhat of a gamer I cannot handle any disconnections over 10 seconds at all or I'll be kicked out of the server
    What I've tried:
    Checked my network priority list
    Zapping the PRAM
    What should I do?
    Thanks in advance

Latest firmware. No, doesn't happen with other networks. In fact, one of the wireless routers was at work, and I didn't have the problem when it was there. I could stream online music all day without a problem. Then I moved it home & now I do. Very strange.

  • Issue with AFP server dropping connections on 10.8.5 server 2.2.2

We are having issues with users getting dropped from their AFP server shares.
These issues did not start happening until we upgraded to 10.8.5 and server 2.2.2
the first symptoms were an occasional user would lose his / her active connection while copying files. They were unable to disconnect from the network shares without physically disconnecting the LAN or disabling the network on their system. Once the connection was removed they could reconnect to the network and establish their AFP shares again.
However this his escalated to every user losing connections to their AFP shares at the same time.
The server has no AFP error in the AFP error log however we are getting diskutil crash reports at around the same time. (See Below)
    The server has
smalltree 1x6 8254 with latest drivers supporting a LACP bonded 6 pair connecting to an edgecore (LACP configured)switch.
small tree 10Gb card directly connected to an edit station.
onboard ethernet connected to switch in support of DHCP & DNS. (previous version of server would not see the bonded pair)
    Two Accusys A12S2's
(we did not have this dropping connection issue before the upgrade to server 2.2.2 and OSX 10.8.5)
Users connected to any network connection to the server appear to be affected when the AFP shares are disconnected. Direcet connect, onboard ethernet port and Bonded pair connections)
diskutil verifies all shared drives appear to be ok. (All Green)

  • Error Message "The Remote device or resourse wont accept connection, not set up to accept connection from port https"

I get this error message when trying to open and log into an online casino "The Remote device or resource wont accept connection, not set up to accept connection from port https".
I am on a desktop computer my connection to the net is with a USB Virgin Mobile hotspot device.
I also have issues with some downloads not installing right for instance SKYPE wont work. If the problems are related I don't know
    Thanks

Starting in Firefox 14, Firefox will guess an address and place it in the address bar (AutoFill feature). If you have ever connected to the site using a secure (HTTPS) connection, then Firefox will try to connect security to the address suggested by the AutoFill feature. To work around this you can:
    * Edit the address to force Firefox to interpret your entry literally. For example, if there is a trailing / you can remove it.
    * Turn off the URL bar AutoFill feature and just use the AutoSuggest drop-down.
    * Clear Firefox's memory of the site so it doesn't default to a secure connection (however, this also removes any bookmarks you have to pages on the site).
To disable the in-address-bar autofill without losing the suggestions that appear below the bar:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''autofill''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.urlbar.autoFill''' to toggle it from true to false. You're done with about:config and you can close this tab.
"Forget about this site" will clear cache, history, bookmarks, and permissions for the site, and probably any saved certificate. There are two ways to get to this:
    * History > Show All History, right-click an entry for the site > "Forget about this site"
    * Type or paste about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter, then select the site from the list on the left side, and click the "Forget about this site" button on the right side
Depending on the size of your history and cache, this may lock Firefox up for a minute or two while everything is cleansed.

  • Port fowarding not working and Max Payne 3

I have had a proble with this game badly lagging and some things not being applied to my account while playing etc etc etc
Now the ports that I've already opened ( or seemingly not ) are :-
    UDP 6672
    UDP 27900
    UDP 27901
    443
I have put the Hub 3 ( 3A ) into DMZ, and when I go to an online port checking facility no matter which one it tells me that eaach of the ports are closed, and I'm still lagging in game etc
I'm not new to computers, just not done a lot of connection problems.I did the port forwarding via a BT tech rep over the phone, so there shouldn't be any problems with how it's been setup ( e.g me not putting in something should have been taken out of the equation ).
I've seen a few posts about the HH3a not doing as it should. So 2 questions here, can I ask/demand a HH3B, and is there the same problems with this as with the HH3A ?
If you have any other questions for me, be free to ask, but I might ask how to do some things
    Andy

After 4 telephone conversations , it appears that either there is something wrong with the HH3 Type A , and port forwarding isn't happening , or the HH3 doesn't allow me to see if the port forwards are concerned, which isn't very helpful either way.
Added to which BT are unable to send me out a HH3 Type B because  " they are undergoing testing at the moment, because there is a problem with them " , quote , unquote. It has taken these 4 phone calls to find this out, which could've been explained the first time, instead of just fobbing me off, saying the port fowards are done, when clearly as far as  online open port checkers are concerned, their not.
So, there isn't any way I can go back to the game developers technical help , until this problem is sorted.
I've put a post on another thread asking which router would be best for me to purchase, as this seems my only course of action, with BT just washing their hands of the situation, saying that although port forwarding is part of the HH3, it doesn't mean to say that it works, and they don't support it !
    Many thanks for any replies.

  • Lenovo G505 Wifi Problems - Limited Connection, No Connection, and Dropped Connections

Some forum members have reported a variety of Wifi issues with their G505 laptops. Their reports range from showing "Connection is limited", to Wifi connections dropping repeatedly, to being unable to make a Wifi connection at all. I combined multiple threads in order to assist forum members with troubleshooting solutions.
If your G505 was upgraded to Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and then lost connectivity, or you recently purchased a G505 running Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and are unable to connect, try following the instructions posted by Vikramsbox to restore the connection through the Lenovo Communications Utility.
For non-Windows 8.0 or 8.1 users, start troubleshooting with the basics:
The most recent WLAN, BIOS, and Power Management drivers from Lenovo can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g505-no...
It is also good practice to verify your Wifi is activated by following the instructions from Neokenchi.
Check Power Management settings to ensure your laptop isn't turning off the Wifi as noted by Dannyk1.
Check to see that Airplane Mode is set to OFF by following the instructions provided by Shiv_K.
After trying those steps, if you still experience a Wifi issue with your G505, other troubleshooting steps have been noted in this thread. This includes a whitelist of accepted replacement WLAN cards posted by Topmahof and a 3rd party driver which resolved wifi issues for Miila and Jessemck125. Please note that while Lenovo does not support 3rd part drivers, it may be an option to consider if your laptop is out of warranty and none of the suggestions in the thread resolve the issue.

First is to update your Atheros/Broadcom driver for your G505 here:http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/wlan117w8.exe
From what I understand, the situation is that you get limited connectivity while your other devices that are connected to the router gets uninterrupted internet access.
After updating your drivers, you can try to flush your DNS cache by copy and pasting this code to your notepad and saving it as FlushDNS.bat
    @Echo on
    pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
    attrib -h -s -r hosts
    echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
    attrib +r +h +s hosts
    popd
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    netsh winsock reset all
    netsh int ip reset all
    shutdown -r -t 1
    del %0
Note that this will restart your computer so make sure to save your session first.
Here's the link that explains the benefit of flushing DNS: http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/144365-network-posting-tips.html
Hope this resolves your random "limited connectivity" problem.
