BT Home Hub dropping out & turning itself off, Is ...

For the last 24 hours I've been losing connection in the house and have had to do a reset a few times,
This morning I woke up to my home hub having no lights on however the power was plugged in and on/of button pressed down, I then tested the speed and that seemed to cause the home hub to drop out once again showing no lights and needing reseting......sounds like it's about to die, might be wrong though??

if factory resets does not bring it back to life ( depressing small recessed button on back) then does sound as if hub is dying and you need to phone CS 08001114567 and if you are still in contract then they should replace it

  • Battery % dropping, phone turning itself off

Basically my phone's battery has been pretty terrible for a while now, I get about 12 hours usage when fully charged and that's without me using it extensively. More recently though i've been having an issue where the battery % is dropping drastically (30% to 1%) and then the phone is turning itself off. I've checked the usage screen for any apps that would be draining it etc and all is pretty normal. I've tried to restore the phone, this hasn't changed anything. My phone is out of warranty and isn't on the battery replacement program. Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Steve

I would get the battery replaced:

You can try fixing wireless problems by turning off Smart Wireless and splitting the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. To do this:
    1. Go into your advanced settings on the HH5 and select the wireless tab.
    2. Then select the 5GHz tab and select NO to "Sync with 2.4 GHz:".
    3. Then choose a new SSID by adding "5" to the existing one, so you can tell the difference between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
    4. While you're there change "Channel selection:" from "Smart wireless" to the current channel.
    5. Then press the "Apply" button.
    6. Then choose the 2.4GHz tab and change "Channel selection:" from "Smart wireless" to the current channel on 2.4GHz.
    7. Then press the "Apply" button again.
Now on your devices you can select which SSID (which band, 2.4GHz or 5GHz) to connect to.

  • Droid Turns Itself Off???

Example- Went into the city over the weekend, pulled out the droid and said,"Watch this!" Turned on "maps", which opened showing my location as being back home and, zap!, turned itself off completely. Not good in a crowd of onlookers. I turned it back on, put it in my pocket and walked a block, pulled it back out and it was off again. This went on for several more tries. Yes, the battery is at a full charge. Yes, I had 4 bars of coverage. No, I have no idea why this contraption tempts me to skip it across san fran bay but, its gonna happen!!!

Hi.  I am sorry you are having issues with your phone and I can certainly look into it for you.   Does the phone only go off when you access the Maps or does it do it with any applications?  How often does this happen?
    Waiting on you reply
    Thanks!

  • My iphone 4s keeps freezing and turning itself off and the wifi option is now greyed out

My iphone 4s has been freezing and turning itself off and on for a few weeks now. I have reset it to factory settings and reinstalled everything, have updated the operating system but nothing seems to work. It was having problems connecting to wifi and when I tried to access the settings it freezes and can't find any connections. I have just updated the phone to 7.1 and now the wifi option is completely greyed out.

Your battery may have completely run down. When you connect it to power, leave it. It can take even up to an hour to get enough charge to get it to a useable state.
Although, I believe even fully drained, you should see some kind of indication on the screen of charging in progress, but it's very dim.

  • IPhone 5C - Turned itself off and won't come back on.

I have owned this phone since the day it came out (20th September) and it was fine up until a few weeks ago. It decided - frequently - to reboot itself, lines would appear on my screen and the brightness would decrease until the phone turned itself off. Soon the apple logo would appear and everything would be fine. I noticed that it would do this while I was on it while it was charging or when a lot of apps were open. I avoided doing these things, but it still would happen. Sometimes it would do it and the apple logo would not appear - I learned of the holding down the home and sleep/wake button at the same time hack, and would do that to get it back on. As time went on the problem would persist, sometimes it would take a few attempts to get the phone back on - I removed some recent apps and the phone was fine for about a week.
Last Friday the phone did it again, so I decided to factory reset/restore through iTunes and then restore my backup. For a couple of days the phone was fine, up until last night where the phone switched off - thinking this was like all the other times I did what I'd usually do. But nothing, I've left it to charge, I've attempted to restore it. When I go to restore it the apple logo appears and the process bar appears, however iTunes turns around and says that it cannot restore the phone.
I went onto here to try and attempt to have it sent back for service, I put in my IMEI number, and it said that I need to turn "Find my iPhone" off, I did that and now it says that it's still on, when it isn't!
Does anyone know what I can do? Or shall I just ring them and figure out how to send it back through that?

This happened to me yesterday. This probably isn't any use to you now, but for others with this question. This morning I took the back off of my phone, and I took the battery out and plugged it in to my laptop. It immediately lit up. We put the battery back in and restored it and it works better than ever. Not sure if this will work for all, but it worked for me!

  • My iphone 4 has turned itself off and I cant get it back on, it had a full battery before it cut off.

My Iphone 4 has just turned itself off and I cant turn it back on. It had a full battery before it cut off so its definetly not the battery, however I have found recently that the battery has been running out really quickly. any ideas what to do? Thanks

    Try resetting your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • My iPhone turned itself off and won't come on or charge, after I already restarted it once

My iPhone 5s has turned itself off and won't come on or charge again I have already restarted it by holding the on/off switch and home button and it come back on and was working fine, but after an couple of hours it's turned itself back off again!! And won't let me restart it again. I don't know what's caused it as it was working fine yesterday and I hadn't dropped it or gotten it wet, what else can I do??

A phone that is turned off wont receive calls. You could try to do a couple things: plug it in (even though it is fully charged), press and hold the power button down extra hard. Press and hold the power AND home buttons extra hard. Take it to the apple store.

  • Wifi turning itself off?

Is the wifi supposed to turn itself off? If I'm not connected via wifi for a few hours wifi is turned off.
I assumed this was to save battery life but I talked to a couple friends who also have iPhones and they say they never have to turn the wifi back on.
If this isn't supposed to happen any idea if this is a hardware problem or a software bug?
(Also to get the phone to use the wifi after turning it back on usually requires restarting or going in and out of airplane mode.)

    Bryen,
I don't have a hidden network. I have only made three changes that could account for this behavior, and of course the device may have been damaged or malfunctioned as well.
    1) Update 1.1.3 could be the culprit. I am ruling that out, as it doesn't seem to be effecting a large enough number of users.
    2) I had to replace my old, worn out router with a new one. I am ruling that out, because my other Macs aren't effected (they are wireless as well).
    3) Dropping it may have broke something, however I have not dropped it but a couple times and not in the recent past.
    4) I recently turn off the *Data Roaming* setting. My problems did start after this change. This is the only change that I have made directly to the device. I turned it back on, hoping that this would resolve the issue. Evidence for this being the problem is inconclusive, as I have no way of testing it.
I was curious to know if any of you had turned this feature off and then experienced problems.
Bryen, have you tried wiping your current device and then setting everything up fresh, instead of restoring a backup? If you have a setting that is interfering with the device, you may try that. And then slowly, over a matter of weeks, make adjustments (such as turning on your Bluetooth device).
BTW, I did go to an Apple store and they replaced my phone. I had turned *Data Roaming* back on prior to my last backup. I did the exchange last night and synched my new phone. It connected properly last night and all of today. I'll let you know how it's doing over the coming days.
So far, it is very responsive and stays on. When this issue first cropped up, it wouldn't pick up the network when I brought it online right away.

  • How come iMessage turns itself off?

Last night in the middle of a texting conversation iMessage turned itself off and switched to SMS. I had to manually go into settings and turn iMessage back on. I understand that if iMessage is not available, it will switch to SMS, but it usually switches back automatically. Does anyone know why this happened?
    Thanks, Anton

    Hello there anton9943,
As I understand it, you were using Messages to send iMessages to another party, and suddenly the iMessage feature turned itself off, necessitating that you turn it back on in Settings. From what you describe, I would start by signing out of iMessage and FaceTime in Settings:
If you have difficulty activating FaceTime or iMessage
Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
Then quit all the running apps on your phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device, sign back in to both services and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Airport turns itself off

When I turn my computer on at home it will connect to my wireless network (Comcast through a Belkin router) for a few minutes, then all of a sudden the airport turns off. Trying to turn the airport on does nothing, and using the network assistant doesn't help (it says that the airport has failed). I can still connect to the internet using the ethernet cord from the wireless router after this has happened.
If I restart the computer it will connect wirelessly again and work fine for a few minutes, then turn off again.
The frustrating thing is that this does not happen at all when I am at work. It stays on wireless networks fine, and I've never had a problem there (so my technology support says they can't do anything).
Any ideas out there? I'd really appreciate it.

I have this exact same issue and it was driving me crazy.  I found this post and it looks like it may have worked although its still early to tell (20min).
hey i had this problem where the airport fan turned itself off and would not turn back on. i rang apple and they had me go to finder, macintosh HD, Library, preferences, and then drag the folder "system config" to the desktop. leaving it there i had to restart and see if airport returned to normal, it did so i had to put that folder into the trash. and it stays connected now...hope this helps, let me know

  • External HD won't turn itself off

    Hi,
I don't know if this is an 'Apple' issue but I have a setup that works great exept one small thing...
I have a Mac Mini G4. I use it to play my iTunes Library (connected to my stereo) and as a DVD Player (connected to my TV with a HD cable).
Since the Mini only has a 40GB hard disc, I connected an Lacy 500GB Harddrive. It is self powered (so with it's own plug in the wall).
When the Mac Mini is going to sleep, so is the Lacy HD...However, when I turn off the Mini, the Lacy will remain active. It does not go te sleep or turn itself off. So it keeps making sound. Is there any setting on the Mini which I can use to turn off the HD whenever I turn off the Mini? I now just pull out the plug....
If not. Will it help if I use an external HD that is not self powered?

    Hi,
I have 2 external Drives. 1 Freecom and 1 Maxtor, both of these are powered at the wall and always remain on when the mac is shutdown. My little portable seagate drive (powered by usb) shuts down when the mac closes, although if powered by an external usb hub (mains powered) then it will stay on.
The drives are managed by the apple and will "sleep" and then require some spin up time when they are not being used by the system. However I have switched that off now, it was getting on my nerves waiting for 5 seconds
I don't know if that helps in anyway.
