BT HomeHub3 compatibility issues with HP printers?

Our HP Photosmart printer is connected to our wireless network, but despite the printer itself saying it has got a good signal and is connected to the correct home network, none of the computers in the house (2 Mac laptops on Mountain Lion and a PC running Windows 7) seem to be able to find the printer more than, on average, once every couple of weeks or so.  The rest of the time it says 'Printer is offline' or something to that effect.  Sometimes it prints a couple of pages and then it suddenly 'goes offline' or cannot be found - while the printer itself still says it is connected.  Occasionally when we try to print something nothing happens for several hours, no matter what I try to get the thing to connect, and then the next morning we find that it must have printed at some point overnight.
After endless re-installing, changing settings and in total about 3 full working days on the phone to the HP helpdesk, a HP engineer said that there is a known comatibility issue between HP printers and BT HomeHubs.
I was about to order a new printer as I really need it to work when I need to use it; not just when the printer has had enough of playing hide and seek, but looking at customer reviews of different wireless printer brands they all seem to have similar issues.
Is there anything I can do that might get the thing to work all or at least most of the time?

Here are the GENERAL steps on how to add a wireless printer on your wireless network.
As you have said that it is already connected and visible to the network it is a case of checking the settings below then if ok go to “adding printer to your networked computer” section
The wireless printer must have a static (i.e., manual) IP address assigned to it from your network IP address range. It cannot be DHCP enabled, otherwise every time DHCP assigns a new address, your printer port will stop working.
How to set a manual IP address on your printer:
When the printer is connected to the network the first time, the router will assign an IP address to it. To get the IP address that the printer was assigned, find the printer on your network and right click on it. It will bring up a properties box. The IP address for the printer will be found somewhere in there.
Using an Internet browser, type the IP address of the printer into the address line of the browser and press enter. It should bring up a printer configuration window.
Since each printer is different, I can't give you the exact steps, HOWEVER, here's what you are looking for:
Find a Network - TCP/IP configuration menu. Somewhere in that menu, it will give you the choice of setting a manual or static IP address versus a DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) assigned address.
You want to manually set the IP address to the address given on the configuration page. This would normally be 192.168.1.xx. The subnet mask will normally be 255.255.255.0 and the gateway will normally be the IP of the router, usually 192.168.1.254
Once the IP address is assigned permanently to the printer as a static address, you are now ready to add the printer to each computer on your network. Add the Printer to Your Networked Computers

Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 for a list of printers that are still supported.
If you don't see the printer, check Printer software no longer available through Software Update.

    Hello:
Thank you for the update for remote access for desktops.
Personally, I do not want to give remote access to anyone but myself as privacy is my friend.  Can this remote desktop software still be for me personally unless I allow access and for my MAC lap top only?  What if I do not update? I do use this lap top in other countries.  compatibility issues with what?

Apple Remote Desktop is off be default. It has to be enabled for some one to be able to remotely connect to the computer. And then, you still have to have a user name and password on the computer to remotely connect with.
If you want to see if remote access has is enabled for Apple Remote Desktop; you can find the setting in, Apple Menu, System Prefrences, Sharing. If it's enabled, Remote Management or Screen Sharing will be checked.
Beucase Apple Remote Desktop Agent is part of the Mac Operating System; even if your not using it, Apple Software Updates will from time to time offer updates for ARD Agent. Software Updates can some times be stacked ontop of each other; so chosing not to install an update, can mean other updates you may want may not be offered. At least until you install the updates those updates require. Also software updates can improve the security of your computer.

Since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 I'm having compatibility issues with my speakers / docking station and my iTunes wifi sync isn't working. Anyone else having the same problems? Both worked fine until the update...

Okay. I got it working again by setting it up as a new phone instead of just syncing. Then I backed up. All is good today.

  • OSX 10.9.1 Compatibility issue with Sharp Aquos PN-L702B and PN-L802B

I have Mac Mini's connected to the Sharp Aquos PN-L702B and PN-L802B touch screens and after updating to 10.9.1 am experiencing what appears to be a compatibility issue with the Sharp TPM driver and the OSX 10.9.1.
Everything works perfectly previously on 10.8.4 and 10.8.5.  I did not test on 10.9.0 as I went straight to 10.9.1.  Anyone else having this problem?  Any thoughts on resolution?

OK so perserverance seems to have helped here - i used the cmd R function on start up to get to the page where i can re install OS X Lion - Safari now working.
However i have Office 2011 for MAC and now Excel wont start so i will post on another thread for help with this

  • Compatibility issues with mac OS - Lightroom 4 works where CS5 won't

Hope someone can shed some light on this issue...
I tried installing Lightroom 4 on Mac OS 10.6.1 (which is currently running CS5 without issues) but the specs call for OS 10.6.8 or later (10.7). When I updated my OS to 10.6.8, none of my CS5 apps work! They encounter launch errors - InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver... only Photoshop seems to work. So, I reverted back to OS 10.6.1 and all the programs function. Is Adobe working on a solution to fix this issue? I see with the forums that several other users have noted the same issue with CS5 not working in the OS 10.6.8 environment. I don't want to upgrade my OS just to have Lightroom function, but none the CS apps. I was thinking of partitioning my HD to load both OS, but that shouldn't be the workaround. I am very disappointed that I've purchased Lightroom 4 and now am unable to use it due to compatibility issues with the OS with the rest of CS5.0.

Pixelzboy are you receiving any specific errors when launching your applications under 10.6.8?  CS5 should work just fine with 10.6.8 as well as 10.7.3.  You may also want to post to the product specific forums with your launch errors as the users in those forums will be more familiar with troubleshooting steps specific to those products.

  • Microsoft ERP MA (3.3.1077.2) for SAP and compatibility issues with SAP 6.0

    Hi all,
I want to configure the ERP MA (3.3.1077.2) for SAP on ILM 2007 in order to synchronize passwords between AD and SAP. I have several instances of SAP. The SAP versions are as follow:
    SAP ECC 6.0 7.00 - 64bit
    SAP ECC 6.4 7.01 - 64bit
    SAP BI 7.1 7.01 - 64bi
I was wondering whether there are compatibility issues with any of the above mentioned versions.
    Your feedback is appreciated.

  • E2100L Cisco Connect and Network Magic compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

When you will release the latest version for Wireless router Linksys E2100L?, because I bought a MAC with Lion and I can´t use my Router.
    Regards,
    Daniel

Older versions of Cisco Connect for Mac computers have compatibility issues with the latest release of Mac OS X (10.7 “Lion”). Only Cisco Connect versions 1.4.11222 and newer are compatible with the Lion operating system.
Here is the link to ensure that Cisco Connect can be installed on your Mac: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=a4e763be954243cfa0ab960c0fac7105_KB_23xxx_EN_v1.xm...
There is no such information about the release of Cisco Connect for E2100L for the Mac OS X (10.7 “Lion”) compatibility, so you need to wait for further release of the firmrware for E2100L.

  • Compatibility issues with CS5.5 and Maverick 10.9

I'd like to know if there are any compatibility issues with CS5.5 and Maverick 10.9 before I upgrade from 10.6.8.

To be honest, I use the CS5 Premium Creative Suite and have had to upgrade all my app's to Mavericks because I have a new iMac, the other one just died.
I used the 'Time Machine' to backup and to transfer all the files, the Mac apps almost transferred 100% but not all successfully, especially iDVD, it was probably something that I did not click in the 'Time Machine preferences'.
If I had the choice, upgrade to 'Mountain Lion, I would revert back to Mountain Lion but not got the discs, I find Mavericks very clunky and slow and causing lots of issues with my Adobe applications.
So if it is not too late, I would wait a few months before upgrading to Mavericks.
    Hope this info' has helped.
