Hi Jason, welcome to the BT Care Community Forums.
As I have the Hub 2 as well, please do the followling:
- Ensure the hub is plugged into a mains socket and telephone line
- Place the batteries that came with the Hub Handset in the correct positions
- Place the handset in the allocated slot, attached to the hub
- Let the Hanset charge for at least 4 hours - do not take it off the charge/stand.
If this helps, please click the star on the left and mark this as resolved.
Kind regards,
Doug.

  • Hub handset 2.1 / HomeHub2.0 no outgoing calls!

    Hi
I can receive calls on my bbtalk hub handset, but it won't make outgoing calls.
Specifically I get the high-pitched dialling tone but when I dial a number the dialling tone stays the same until about 40 secs later, when it drops the call and I get a BT constant tone.
Broadband is fine, analog phone line is fine, homehub handset receives calls, and I can dial out by pressing 5 and using the analog line, but it won't make outgoing Broadband Talk calls.
Any advice? I've tried usual things:
    Reset handset
    Taken batteries out of handset
    Reset Hub
    Checked broadband speed (it's fine)
    ...but still the same problem.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • Useless hub handset+ inability to contact BT via e...

Why do BT make it impossible to contact them easily? I have problems with my phone/broadband hub and BT Vision Box. My BT cordless handset does not work, no incoming or outgoing calls, no dialing tone...jusat totasly dead! The Hub has to be constantly re-set and the BT Vision box hard drive is problematic! I obviously badly need all these items upgraded now! I tried to e-mail these problems to the BT problem reporting page in line, in the relevent problem reporting page, but for some reason the date I entered would not be accepted! They demand a 'DD/MM/YY' entry but however you try to enter the correct date it refises to accept it! Totally **bleep** off and am now seriously looking at both Sky and Virgin for a service provider that works with faulty equiptment you can upgrade! How can I ring the BT problem line when I do not have a phone that works!

Things can be sorted out here on this forum, but as there are multiple issues involved, the first thing is to try to sort the phone out, which I assume is one of the BT Home hub phones?
Does a normal phone work when you plug it into the phone side of your microfilter?

  • Strange Hub Phone Problem

    Hello,
I have just upgraded to a home hub 2.0 and hub phone 2.1 (I have been a BT Broadband user for many years).
The problem that I have is with the hub phone. It makes calls with crystal clarity. It receives calls from landlines, T-Mobile and Vodaphone. It will not receive calls from O2 or Orange.
My mobile and some of my family's are O2. When you call the hub phone (which has a London 020 3 number) from an O2 mobile, we get the message "The number you have called is not recognised. Please check the number".
I have spoken to O2, who tell me every thing is fine at their end and BT, who also tell me all is fine.
    All is not fine, evidently.
I wondered if any of you knowledgeable persons had any ideas, or if anyone else has had this problem.
    Tearing hair out at present!!!
    Thanks
    P

    Hi Rosep59,
Did you get this sorted yet? I've had a look around and can find no issues with mobile calls to the hub handset. Is it specific numbers that aren't getting through? Have there been problems with any other numbers? Do you have call barring set up on the hub handset? Let me know and we'll take it from there.

  • Use of two HH - quick answer needed - please.

An enginer some three months ago, set up a HHv3 for the broadband and a HHv2 for the phone, so that I could continue to use the hub handsets and not have to replace them.  I do not have broadbandtalk.
Want I need to know is: would in your opinion, this set up course the broadband to drop broadband connection, anything up to ten times a day?
The lights on the HHv3 are: power light = on, broadband light = on and wireless light = on.
The lights on the HHv2 are: power light = on, broadband light = off, wirelss light = on and phone light = on.
Surely if both HH's as suggested by UK tech team were connected to the broadband then both HH's broadband light's would be on.
The HHv2 show no connection since 10th January 2011.
The HHv3 is connected to the ADSL side and the HHv2 is connected to the phone side.
It would great if I could get a quick answer to this, as I am in the middle of an email back to the UK tech team.
    Thanks to all.

sorry to say, but I don't think that the whole post is being read.  As if it were, you would note that one hub is being used on the ADSL side and the other is on the phone side, so in effect the hub that is on the phone side is just being used as a wireless phone and not connected to the broadband/ADSL and is not being used as a router.  I did also mention that the event log for the second hub the one being used for phone service only has no connection entries since January 2011.  Not even to the time server, so therefore is not being used for any type of broadband connection.  Even the broadband light is OFF.

  • Phone number already in use.

I tried subscribing the premium but then i cannot seem to add my device because it says my number is already in use. I dont remember registering my number yet. How do I fix this?

In the Hub Phone user guide page 6 it states "- two calls can be made using BT Hub Phone handsets, and a third using a normal phone plugged into the phone socket on your BT Home Hub." So you can have 3 calls at the same time on the BB Talk number and one on the BT line, if you have enough handsets!
In the Hub Phone user guide page 46 there are details of Call waiting. It states that it is on by default. I do not have a phone connected to the socket on the Hub, although I do have it set to ring on Talk number, and only 1 Hub handset. I tried the following test. I made a call on the Hub phone on the Talk number and then rang the Talk number from my landline number. The landline gave ringing tone and I heard the call waiting bleep in the Hub phone and the display on the Hub phone came up with the calling number, my landline number, and 2 options. The options were "Switch" - this will put the current call on hold and answer the new call and "Reject". I pressed Reject and the call on my landline went from ringing to the 1571 voicemail.
In your case you should therefore be getting the call waiting bleep I think before the phone plugged into the Hub rings - perhaps you are missing the call waiting bleep or have call waiting switched off. You can switch call waiting back on from the BT Services Menu on the Hub phone. I can see no way that the second caller will be presented with engaged though. At least with call waiting working you could answer the second call and decide which call to continue with.

Have you tried to de-register from the phone?
press menu, scroll down to settings and press select
scroll down to registration and press select
scroll down to de-register and press select
there will be a list of handsets registered to the hub
scroll to the handset you want to de-register and press select
enter the system pin and press ok (you will only need to enter the system pin if it has been changded from the default of 0000
You can also de-register all handsets by going into the hub manager
    1. type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar of your browser
    2. go into settings
    3. enter the hub password (if it's never been changed, it's on the rear of the hub)
    4. goto settings
    5. goto advanced settings
    6. goto telephony
    7. goto hub handsets
    8. and finally de-register all handsets
You will then need to re-register the handset to the hub
Have you tried to reset the HH or even power it down?

  • HomeHub - No landline dial tone after a few hours.

    Hi Guys,
I have an odd problem with my HomeHub & Phone.
It seems every few hours my hub phone stops picking up the landline dial tone, if I reset the HomeHub then the dial tone comes back.
While the HomeHub is not picking up a dial tone it (the HubPhone) will ring when people call, although i'm not sure at this point if I can hear people on the other end of the line as I have only been calling myself to test it.
If I plug an ordinary landline phone into the HomeHub it also gets no dial tone, if I plug the ordinary phone directly into the landline I get a dial tone and can make calls as normal.
So that leads me to believe something is not right with my HomeHub.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be before I ask for the Hub to be changed?, i've only had it a week so I would have to be unlucky to get a faulty one.
I did originally post this issue in the 'phones' section until I knew the issue was with my Hub.
    Thanks

    Hi guys,
If you haven't already given this a go, try power-cycling the Hub, and while the Hub is restarting power-cycle the Hub Phone as well.
dallaway, can you try using a different handset as Burge did (it'll give an indication as to whether the Hub handset is faulty or not).
If this problem continues let us know.

  • Broadband Talk handset numbering on Home Hub 2B

Upgraded recently from an old Home Hub 1 to a 2B version.
Initially, I made a bit of a mess in registering the two former handsets used for BBTalk access and as an internal intercom.  Therefore I used the De-register all handsets option from the Hub's menu so as to start again from a "clean sheet".
However, it seems that the de-register option doesn't actually remove all the previous settings as I'm now left with a mess as to the internal numbers assigned for intercom calls between handsets.  Handset 2 is now No.4 and Handset 1 responds to internal calls to Nos. 1, 2, or 3!  All I wanted was what I had previously, ie Handset 1 assigned as No.1 and Handset 2 assigned as No.2 with Handsets 3 & 4 spare.
While its only a minor irritation, I'd like to tidy it up.  Any ideas please?

The home hub 2 type b has the buggiest firmware known to man, if you have an un-altered backup of the home hubs firmware, I would replace it and start again as the firmware still saves previous states even though you have reset it back to factory defaults.
I'm beginning to realise that the internal workings of the 2B does not accord with its smart black exterior!  I do have a slightly used HH2A that a friend gave me when my old HH1 started having problems with ADSL2+.
Does your experience suggest that a 2A is a less bug-prone device than the 2B?
Just about everyone on this forum suggest the type A HH2 rather than the type b it simply has been out long enough to have had most of the bugs worked out of it, Where as the type b has had an obscene amount of complaints about it from unable to media share, unusable connections, loss of hub phones I could go on all day lol
Having the option of either a used HH2a or a new HH2b available, I took your advice and changed over to the HH2a.  Now in respect of intercom calls between the (now) three handsets (a 2.1, an old 1010, and a really ancient DECT phone), the HH2a does "what it says on the tin" with each handset allocated just a single internal number to call even after de-registering and re-registering.
So telephony-wise I'm sorted with the HH2a.  Many thanks.

  • Can't delete previous unread messages in hub pinch view via select previous (hold date line)

Happily running OS 10.2.1.2141 on my Z10 (STL100-3). I was thrilled to see the hub's Pinch Selection Criteria option in 10.2.1 but did not have the occasion to try it. Then this weekend, my mailbox got flooded with email notices from our alert system and I was facing having to delete hundreds of emails the old tedious way, multi-select each email one at a time and hit the delete option.  Well, that's when I tried to use the hub's new pinch selection option to "hide" my read messages. I then held the date line to select all the previous messages and hit the delete option which asked my if a really wanted to delete those messages. I confirmed by choice and poof! nothing happened. I tried several times to no avail, even trying with flagged messages. It looks like you can't delete messages while in Pinch Selection view if you select them via the Select previous (hold date line) method. It does work if you select/multi-select the messages manualy but what's the point then?....
So, unless i'm doing it wrong, this appears to be a bug.
    Regards,
    Francis.....

There is a handset settings reset or full reset. Might be worth trying the full reset if you cant get the cover off

    Hi Hello,
Getting error message 2003 when trying to restre repaired 3g handset?...any assist greatly appreciated...Kind Regards...Mike.

    Hi there,
This may be caused by a USB conflict or and issue with your security software. It looks like the article you came from has this information toward the bottom.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

  • Problems with BT Home Hub Phone 2.1 help!

I've been having problems with my Hub phone 2.1 handset for weeks now. A catalougue of woes: 1. It doesn't ring properly with incoming calls- It starts to ring but then there's a horrible highpitched feedback noise and then the handset resets itself. Impossible for people to reach me. I have to call everyone back. 2. It doesn't charge properly. It makes the "bleep" noise when placed on the cradle but stops charging after a few moments. Sometimes it makes the bleep at random times. Often the phone has been on the charging cradle all night but will cut out during a 5 minute call because the battery is flat as a pancake! Which leads to... 3. The phone will cut out at random times during a call (even if the battery is showing full). There's the horrible feedback noise and the phone resets itself again. This happens whenever I use speaker phone too. The Hub and handset are less than two years old and broadband and all the rest of it seem absolutley fine. It's just the handset. Any advice please? Thanks! )

Change the rechargeable batteries, sometimes they don`t last very long, their capacity reduces and there is not enough power to operate the handset properly.
Try to find ones with a higher capacity, as they do seem to work much better. I have four hub phones, and the original batteries lasted about a year. The replacements I fitted are fine.

  • Preempting problems here- BT Home Hub-ethernet cable-Airport Extreme

OK- here is the story so far. Have a summerhouse needing broadband/telephone from the main house. It is 80 metres from the main house and so unable to use WiFi to connect to our BT Home Hub (white from 2006).
The problem we needed to overcome is the distance involved and so laid a telephone cable and an ethernet cable.
First of all the ethernet connection to the BT Home Hub:
It connects fine to the BT station and runs down the garden in its "communications pipe" with the telephone lineto connect the iMac to the internet.
BUT when we tried to reconnect the Netgear (so that the laptops could be used down at the summerhouse) which once worked fine with all the MacBooks etc to this set up it refused to work.
So I dusted off the Airport Extreme and wonder- can this be made to work as a wireless router at the end of an ethernet cable plugged into a BT Home Hub (white)?
Then- does anyone have a clue if there is a phone system in the UK which permits the transfer of calls and intercom usage between handsets where the distance is too great for handsets to communicate wirelessly? Ie use the telephone line? I have an iDect system (swish bit of kit) and can make the handsets communicate with each other as long as they are within range of each other, just not when one of them is down at the summerhouse. Anyone got a solution?

Thank you for that. I understand that if I don't do this the Airport Extreme will keep trying to take over the job, right?
As it happens I haven't got an Admin Utility in my Utilities folder. I have AirPort Disk Utility and an AirPort Utility. I am on Tiger?
OK- having checked the Airport out via the ethernet cable (and without) it is fine- it was once set up as our wireless router (in the chain after a BT Voyager or something like that, one which requires a wireless box if you wanted to use it like that). The computer could see it (and was even connected to it wirelessly at one point) but only one light was ever on on it (the centre one) with the other two flashing intermittently.
At the moment the AirPort has had to be turned off because the BT Hub was not assigning IPs and anyone who came to join the network for a new session (considering we are running 4 Mac laptops...).
    What now?
