Bt hub 4 Flashing Orange

Hi guys, I've just moved to London and this is my first line and my first broadband contract, so I really need your help.
My instalation date was 8th september and since that my Bt hub is flashing orange. I've done all those tests I could find online but nothing happened. I also called BT and they said it was an exchange problem.
The hub worked in a very slow way for 2 hours and stoped again.
How long it usually takes to fix?
How long do I have to wait to do something else?
Is it normal for the first days?
Is there something that I can do to fix it?
Please help.
Many thanks.

  • Bt infinity home hub flashing orange

Last night we had a power cut and since then my power light on the hub is just flashing orange, I've tried turning it on and off, pressing restart and turning on and off atplug yet it just flashes orange. Any ideas?

Are the lights synching on the openreach box (white one)?. If they are you should synch on the HH3, if not there is an issue with your line. Is anything unplugged or wire come lose on the master socket?. Have a good check at all the equipment.

    Hi,
Broadband has stopped working with a flashing orange & purple broadband light (7 days and counting)
Have phoned bt but they failed to resolve the issue over phone - resetting, power off/on etc. Tried 4 different branded adsl filters, alternative router but still no connection. Only 1 main socket, no extensions connected, doesn't have a test facility(older style socket). Tried 17070 quiet line test - sounds clear. Phone line test reports zero faults.

I suspect the issue is at the exchange, has bt disconnected me and plugged someone else in? Any thoughts welcome.

you appear to have tried everything suggested by BT for purple/orange flashing constantly and not solved the problem.  the help pages then say if that has failed then contact technical support but I would contact the forum mods instead for help

  • The Flashing Orange Power Light Of Doom! [HH3]

I've had no internet service for a week now, on Infinity 2 with HH3.
All lights on the white modem are green, the hub won't even start, just goes to a steady orange, then after about 15 seconds, a continuously flashing orange power light, and stays there.  The other lights are dark.  Power cycle doesn't work, holding down the reset button doesn't even reset it.
After lengthy "troubleshooting" on the phone with India, I received a replacement HH3 yesterday, plugged it all in and got all blue lights for all of 3 seconds and then - wham - reset to flashing orange light, which now stays there no matter what I do.  The issue was escalated to "Tier 1 support" by India yesterday, but heard nothing.
No service problems reported in my area according to the BT website, but India seemed adamant that it was a network issue (after being adamant that it was a faulty hub earlier in the week...).
This is getting very frustrating now, anyone have any idea what could be causing this ??!   I really just want an engineer to come out but India wouldn't arrange that.

It should be quite easy to prove by bypassing the hub and connecting the modem to the PC, then setting up a broadband PPPOE connection.
Here's some instructions provided by Rygg
try a direct connection to the modem. This will rule out your homehub and internal wiring as the fault.
1: Remove the homehub from the modem
2: Connect your pc/laptop into the modem using LAN1 port
3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network
4: Connect to the Internet (the top option) then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE
5: Username [email protected] and the password as anything you want
6: connect, if it cannot connect, just keep pressing try again if this happens and it will eventually connect.

  • Home Hub 5 orange light

Set up my new HH5 on Monday & have had two occasions so far when the internet connection has dropped out & the central powerlight has changed from blue to orange - once static, 2nd time a flashing orange light. Each time the hub apparently reset itself - the light turned blue again.
But, how do I know what the cause is/was - the manual suggests that when the light turns orange "This shows that there's a problem somewhere" and to "Check the other lights in the silver bar at the bottom of the Hub and see the icons table below". However, both times I saw no lights in the silver bar??
I don't know if there's a 'settling in' period involved as it's not a new internet connection; I've merely replaced a HH3 + Openreach modem with a HH5 on my existing Infinity set up.

So, the last two nights, broadband has dropped out at around the same time - about 01:10 am. Whereas the night before I saw no lights on the silver panel, last night I did - the broadband light was flashing red. On both occasions the poer light eventually turned blue again.
Is this just the new Hub 'training' itself?

  • Flashing orange lights between steady blue

    Hey guys!!
I've had BT broadband for 18 months and never had any problems. BT home hub 2.0
This morning, my internet was dropping (flashing orange lights on braodband and phone icons on the hub). I rang BT and they informed me there was an issue in my area and it would be fixed in a few hours.
I never fully lost service...it just kept dropping out and flashing the broadband and phone icons orange and then reconnecting again and going to blue.
I rebooted my router at the time they said, 4pm. At this time, the service status website said the problem had been fixed and so did the person I spoke to on the phone.
Now its 730 and im still having the same problems. My lights are all blue, and then every 20-30mins or so the broadband and phone lights will flash orange for 20 seconds and then finally go back blue. Sometimes I have to reboot the router to get them back to blue.
Is this just because there has been a recent problem and the router is just settling down again and getting the best speed back? Or something else?!
    Thanks

The orange flashing light only happens when a resync happens and the speed can go up or down.

  • Homehub 3 keeps flashing orange/red/purple then go...

    Hi,
Severak days ago I made a post regarding the above issue however my connection has not remained stable enough to post a reply and work has also kept me buys. Today I woke up to find the internet working again however when I did starting browsing again it has been continually going from stable to flashing orange/purple/red then back to stable blue. I have tried restarting, switiching the power off for 30 minutes and even tried connecting directly to the Homehub via ethernet cable.
I would really appreciate if if someone could help me resolve the issue. Also last week I starting using a powerline adapter. Has this got anything to do with the issues I am currently facing?

not just switching off  - you need to try the reset recessed button probably on the back of the hub.  just beacuse phone works doen't mean filter is ok - they don't last forever

Hi Been having constant disconnections for a while now but but then a stable adequate speed. However HH4 went down 30 mins ago and BB is still down with flashing orange led on HH. I'd provide diagnostics but obviously can't connect to the hub. Status says no problems in the area & already tried switching the HH off. Any ideas? TIA.

you should not need an internet connection to access the hub manager

  • BT infinity HomeHub 5 flashing orange / new custom...

I had sky broadband until this morning when I was switched over to the apparently super-fast bt infinity up to 37mbps. Sold to me by a very keen salesman who didn't want me to leave BT.
At 12:30pm I received a delightful text telling me my new super fast infinity package was up and running. As I watched my happy fully working sky broadband box turn orange and go offline I plugged in my new HomeHub 5 (yes bt, I plugged the mains socket into the "mains" socket and the "DSL" into the "dsl") although I love the fact your tech team ask those questions!
I watched in anticipation as the home hub fired up but then started flashing orange, a quick look in the manual and there was nothing about flashing orange lights, there's plenty about the other colours of the rainbow but nothing about the power light flashing orange. So I called BT... "Turn the unit on and off again" I was told by BT tech, wow guys... genius, it's not like I'd thought of that but I did it again anyhow. Still a flashing orange light.
I was then told to wait a few hours which I did and again all I got was an orange flashing power light. I called BT tech again who once again said... "Turn the unit on and off again" these tech guys in India really know how to fix stuff things. Still an orange flashing light. I was then told to wait until midnight and it should be working.
Ok, so I work from home in media and need the internet to communicate, deliver & receive files, sometimes large files like video & audio. I have to make sure this is up and running by the morning or my job is going to go very wrong tomorrow. I stayed up till midnight and tried it again..... And of course the HomeHub just sits there, goes through it's power up cycle then flashes orange repeatedly (for over an hour). I called bt tech again and guess what "turn the unit off and on again" sigh.
As a result I will be calling 0800 800150 tomorrow cancelling this non eventful package and asking for a full refund and my PAK code.
Thanks BT, I won't be coming back.

  • BT HH4 constantly flashing orange

We are new BT customers and had our line put up a week ago by a BT engineer. Phone line working fine but the HH4 starts up green then constantly flashes orange. Just will not connect to the Internet. We have made countless calls to BT who seem to just not have a clue and tell us they have tested the line. That it should settle in 24hrs then 3days then a week and STILL the orange light is flashing! We borrowed an old hub from a friend and that works but it is extremely slow. We are starting to wish we never bothered. Can anyone help as BT seem to be completely useless. Please can a mod contact us?????

  • Broadband light flashing orange. A "copper line fa...

    Hi all
on Friday 20/01/12 i was using the internet as normal, no weather problems or anything abnormal happening and then as i woke on Saturday 21/01/12 i noticed my broadband (hub 3) had a blue power light, a blue wireless light but a flashing orange light, i followed the steps on the website and restarted my homehub but the still had the same problem. i then changed the adsl filters still had the same problem even tried changing the adsl lead from the socket to the hub but still had the same problem i tried in 3 extension sockets and then also the main bt openzone socket but the problem was still the same.
i then called the bt help line where they made me re iterate the same proccesses twice of what i had already done to then finally test my line and tell me there was a "copper line fault" and the problem would be reapired by 26/01/12. i recieved the email letting me know i would be able to track the fault however when i tried the "track a fault" link it gave me the error message of that the "Sorry we cant complete your request at the moment due to technical error. Please try again" and since the 21/01/12 i have still not recieved a fault update and after many attempts at "trying again" still unable to track the progress.
The internet is crucial to my work and i need it to be running as soon as possible. i live in an apartment and have asked my neighbours if their phone line isnt working but theirs is still working and mine is the only one that isnt, i can't seem to understand how this has happened and why mine is the only one not working, and now with the phone line and broadband not working, my work will be suffering and the implications of not having the internet will be a big impact.
Is anyone else having a problem with tracking their fault or had this fault before and could offer some guidance?
really need this fault to raised as urgent and not being repaired until 26/01/12 could cripple my work.
Also for the days you are without bt vision, broadband and calls is there a way to gain compensation?
Any help or advice would be brilliant.
    Thanks Bradley Kent

For me the Internet/email is a hobby/pastime. If it went down for  a few days it would be an annoyance/inconvenience to me but thats all, but even i have a Three 3G MiFi wireless modem standing by. Just connect up, top up and go.

Remove the battery for 30 minutes or so. Make sure it is fully charged and reinsert it.

Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!

    How do I fix this

If you're comfortable resetting all settings, unplug it, hold down the reset button and keep holding it in as you plug it back in - keep holding it for another 10-20s until the amber light flashes
Then, open airport utility, now you should be able to see the device either on-screen or in the upper left under 'other wi-fi devices'

  • Airport Extreme is connecting to the internet, but still flashes orange.

I've set up an Airport Extreme and it is connecting to the internet, however its light still flashes orange on the unit and in Airport Utility ver. 6.2 and it has a red circle with a "1" in it similar to the alert notification on an iPhone for messages and email. What does this mean? As I said, I can connect devices to it and connect to the internet, so it seems to be functioninbg fine. So why isn't the status light green?

If the problem does not resolve itself by powering down your network equipment, a complete reset of all your equipment is justified. Power down the modem and "hard reset" the Extreme, followed by reconfiguring it using AirPort Utility.
Power down your modem whenever you change what is physically connected to it. Make it a habit.

That should probably be resolved as well. More information is required regarding this failure.
Sometimes, an attempt to reconfigure a minor setting will result in what appears to be a total meltdown followed by extreme user frustration. In that event, starting over with a "hard reset" and subsequent reconfiguration is generally the best way to proceed.
