Hi
I am trying to resolve why my network keeps losing connections briefly with the hub - when the blue lights don't seem to be going off.
i went to the log and found this:

  • HOME HUB - EVENT LOG - Help with translation pleas...

    Have just found the event log on the Home Hub and am trying to uderstand what it is telling me. For today, there are many similar entries such as copied below;
    VOIP: [2.0A] [XXXXXXXX] [FXS DECT1 DECT2 DECT3 DECT4 DECT5] 200 OK - SIP message received
VOIP: [2.0A] XXXXXXXXX] [] 501 Not Implemented - SIP message sent

Could someone please give me some idea what these entries relate to?
    Thanks
EDIT; On reflection, I think the following are better examples of my concern that someone may be hacking into our hub / broadband or does the ' not implemented ' comment mean that the security has kicked in and rejected the attempt?

edit the post as you're showing your VOIP number (If your BBT number starts 01).
AFAIK it's something to do the hub phone set up BUT I'm not too sure.

  • HOME HUB - EVENT LOG - TECHNICAL HELP PLEASE

Hello. I am trying to investigate why my BB usage is so high and have come across some recorded event entries in the 'event log' which I would like explained. Is there an expert/moderator  who can help please? What I am trying to establish is whether these entries could mean that there are outside users, using our broadband via P2P/Skype etc?. Many thanks.  n.b None of the names are known to me.

You're on a long line and your connection looks to keep dropping? Your profile is low, but with 3 -5 days uninterrupted connection that should rise to 1000kbps (1meg).  First of all we need to solve your dropping connection, your output power also looks worryingly low.
Can I ask what type of master socket do you have?

  • BT Home Hub connection issue on XBOX 360

I have just upgraded from a BT Home Hub 3, to the BT Home Hub 4, before the upgrade I ran Sky TV wired, and 3PCs wifi, my Ipad and my Iphone. I also ran my XBOX 360 wifi, and a PS3 wifi, all worked no problem.
Now I am on BT Home Hub 4, all my connections are the same all working well apart from the XBOX 360.
I have tried doing the fix on the BT site logging into the Hub changed the SIDD and set the other bit to NO. this did not work.
I then reset the XBOX to factory settings as this was in another fix, I then reset the XBOX to the Hub 4, logged on to call of duty ghosts got half way through a game it crashed out saying no conection reset to test conection.
The Hub will conect to my XBOX 360 but only stay conected for up to 14 mins at most.
Do I need to go back to my BT Home Hub 3, Can any body help its starting to be a pain. As one good person said use a wired conection that would be good, but due to location would be hard. I did think upgrading was ment to make things better not harder. Please Help.

To add, I had on online chat with BT, they said that no problems exist about XBOX 360  and the BT Home Hub to do with wifi.
If this is the case why have a fix on the BT site, that does not work may I add well not on my XBOX.
I found BT online chat not much help in this case.
    Please advise and help

CWMP is BTs remote configuration system which is used to change certain settings within the home hub, for some reason it forced a restart.
It may be worth resetting the home hub to factory default, as the configuration may be corrupted.

  • Event Log Reporting Time Span

Having some connection problems, but can only see past one day in the Event Log. Get message "Limit of uservisible log" where in settings can I increase the report time to see past week or so, in Event Log ?

It sounds like you have a home hub 3 with the latest firmware?
You mean it looks like this - <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Limit of uservisible log >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I get the same. The hub event log used to give 3 full pages of events, now the maximum I get is 2 full pages and 7 events logged on the 3rd page (uses around ¼ of the page).
You can't increase this, though if you have many events stored prior to the limit message, you could try switching the hub off to remove these older events or bite the bullet and factory reset the hub.

  • Logging into BT wireless

    Hi,
I want to be able to access BT Wireless (which was Fon) away from home and I have been trying to test it using my home hub.
Logging into https://www.btwifi.com:8443/selfcare/index.htm I get a password failure each time (definitely the right username and password). I am guessing this is because I need to connect to BT Fon or BT Openzone to log in and I cannot do it through my home wireless. The porblem is, though I am registered with Fon and it is showing as enabled on the hub, there doesn't seem to be a Fon wireless signal from my hub.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Ivor

Hi Keith and imjolly, thanks the prompt replies. I have checked my status on the BT Fon websites and I am opted in. If I check the status of my modem it shows BT Fon as being active. Conrad, I should see it as a separate available wireless signal, but it isn't there. I have got the BTHomeHub signal, which I am currently connected to.
I can only log into this bit:
"If you are a BT Broadband user and you would like to check whether you are opted in you can check here."using my BT username and password
The login boxes for Fon on that page don't accept my BT username (or any of my common login names) or any of my passwords. There isn't a password reset option either so I don't know if i should have a login for that page. Should I?
FON and, for a while, BT Openzone, did appear as separate wireless signals when I set up my hub a year or more ago, but they disappeared soon after. My house is in a fairly isolated spot and they definitely came from my hub. I hadn't pursued it before as nobody would have wanted to get wireless from my hub. Only now when I want to check my ability to log onto the site, so I can set it up for my wife when she travels away soon, that it becomes an issue.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Ivor

  • BT Hub password rejection

Every few months, today was one occasion, after switching my PC I am unable to download my home page or any other internet page. I get the pop up box saying the page is not available.
All three lights are lit as normal on the hub and I can access the hub OK. To fix the problem I usually I click to disconnect the Broadband then reconnect it and all works OK.
However, when I am asked to enter the hub password before disconnection can take place it always rejects it. I have to reset the hub and log in using the default password. When asked to create a new password I always use the same one that was rejected previously. After logging in I then reconnect the Broadband and it will now be OK for another few months.
The next time it happens I know it will tell me my password is wrong, when I know full well it isn't.
    Why does this keeping happening?

    Hi George99,
If you fill out the contact us form in the about me section of my profile we can take a look at this for you.
    Cheers,

  • Internet Connection drops when incoming telephone ...

On 14th December 2011 during a period of very high winds and heavy rain an incoming telephone call caused the internet connection to drop and it eventually restored itself after about 2 hours. When I answer a call the internet connection drops after about 30 seconds and then reconnects after about a further 40 seconds. All incoming local calls cause the internet connection to drop. As far as I can tell incoming calls from other exchanges seem to be OK. Incoming calls from mobile phones sometimes cause the internet connection to drop. The line is unaffected by outgoing telephone calls. I have a BT HomeHub 2B plugged into an upstairs telephone socket and connected by ethernet to my PC. I have another telephone socket downstairs, each socket is fitted with a filter. I have have tried every combination of my two standard telephones and 4 filters in each socket and every local call causes the internet connection to drop and reconnect. I think it very unlikely that both phones and 4 filters have become faulty at the exactly the same time. I have connected the Home Hub and telephone with a filter to the test socket and asked a friend on the local exchange to call me and the internet connection dropped and reconnected as before. Since moving to this house 2 years ago I have had four previous interruptions to the broadband service all of which were caused by problems probably at the exchange. The last one took 8 days to correct after countless calls to the "Help Line". Their fall back position is always to assume that there is no problem with the BT line. So I am not even going to try to explain this over the telephone. This is the information on the BT Home Hub Event Log, it is typical for every occurrence of the problem. Dec 26 11:42:42 2011 ERR 2011-12-26T11:42:42Z cwmp: mt_cwmp: session error: Could not resolve host Dec 26 11:43:19 2011 (1035438.010000) RTNL: Received ERROR reply 'No such process' for message type 0x19 Is this a problem with the Homehub, the line, or at the exchange?

not sure I read your post correctly but are you saying if someone from another exchange phones then the broadband is ok and it only drops if someone from your own exchange phones?
if the possible sollution from chris6273 does not work, and you have already tried the test socket then I would contact the mods for assistance  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951
the mods can take up to 3 days to reply

  • No Broadband Connection on BT Vision

When using the On Demand feature through Vision box, I have a wee orange box come up saying Broadband isn't connected.
All the lights are showing on the Hub and I have Broadband/Internet access through IPad.
I placed a call last Sunday and was on the phone for 1hour 10mins. The chap took me through several scenarios and still nothing. He then said an engineer will visit and it would cost me 99.00 if it appears that I have tampered with the wiring... I don't know how to wire a plug let alone BT Sockets....
As I work 8.30 - 5.30 and can not get back during the day, I was told an engineer would be able to visit on 6 April... That was 2 weeks from placing call... Not very happy I asked to be called back later that day to discuss with his supervisor. A week later still no call and still no Broadband through BT Vision Box....
Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hi Nicky,
I have a similar problem with my vision box sometimes. Although my broadband is stable the Vision box sometimes reports my Broadband has 'dropped' whilst watching on demand, or recording & playing back at the same time.
When I check my Home hub event log, I see that the BT Vision box was renewing its IP address at the moment the broadband is reported as ‘dropping’ and I suspect that the workload in the box is so high that a timeout is expiring somewhere and the Vision box incorrectly reports the Broadband as having dropped.
The next time the problem occurs, you could log into the Home Hub using a web browser (address 192.168.1.254), and go to the troubleshooting page, select event log from the second level menu you will see a list of time-stamped events. If one of your devices was renewing its IP address then I suspect this is the issue. You can check the IP address of the vision box in the help menu and confirm it is the actual IP address for the Vision box that is being renewed
I do not have a fix, but you could alter the lease duration on the DHCP or leave it defaulted to 24 hour leases and re-start the vision box and Home hub at a time of day when it would not matter if the problem occurred.
Can’t be sure this is your problem, but worth checking as it seems very similar.

  • Broadband Fault in Barbican/Moorgate area - Centra...

    Hi,
Anyone else been experiencing a fault in central london (Barbican area) all afternoon ? First occurred at around 13:30 and I've been down all day.
My BT home hub Event Log keeps logging XDSL linestate up, XDSL linestate down every few minutes. A ping to an external site has been returning destination host unreachable since the outage started.
Working throught the BT home hub Help&Advice click through troubleshooter eventually prompts me to call 0800 169 0199 where I get a recorded message, last updated at 1500, stating there is an outage.
Four hours seems unusually long for a telco outage.
I'm only able to work and contact this forum by using my vodafone mobile internet dongle which I luckly keep in a draw for such circumstances.

no service issues for two years Think you can let them off what is obviously turning out to be more of a problem than first thought

  • Installed BT Desktop help, now PPPOA is crashing be...

I installed bt desktop help yesterday, my hub3 as been connected since the mods reset my snr and took off the banding(so they say,i think its just been raised a little because my speed is now continuessly 12.5meg even after all the disconnects today),i went to bed at 5am this morning, got up at 2pm,looked in hub event log because i noticed my hub timer had been up only a few hours,at 6 am it tried to communicate with motive which is bt desktop help, its full of motive modules and drivers and services, obviously it cant comunicate while the pc is off so it made pppoa go down after 2days, then it tried again at 9am and did the same, and again at 12pm, i suspect if i never turned on my pc that it would of tried again at 3pm, i turned the pc on at 2pm.Before installing bt desktop help(motive) my event log is completley clear of motive acs username addresses, not once as it tried to communicate with this address so it must be down to the desktop help, thing is if i uninstall bt desktop help it seems to mess things up as my pc wont auto sign ip addresses and network gateways(wont pick up the hub) so basiclly bt desktop is here to stay unless i re install the whole os, my advice is dont install it you will be so peed when you cant get a perfectly working pc to function normally after you try an uninstall bt desktop help,i went through everything manually(the registry, all folders etc) and deleted everything to do with desktop help but it made no difference,i still had to run diagnose to get the pc to connect to the hub,i repaired the ip stack, reset the winsock catalouge and still no different,i reinstalled desktop help and it works again,so there you have it, im now stuck with the hhb3 trying to communicate with motive when the pc is off there im not going to be able to maintain a constant connection

The hub3 tried to communicate with motive again while my pc was off, im now back to a high snr and 9meg ip profile which is stuck again, upnp is creating ports which i presume is desktop help,(i hope)i uninstalled desktop help and hard reset the hub but its still creating ports and still communicating with motive acs username, i have a few after the hard reset, some say ( 175.300000) Initializing transaction for event code 6 CONNECTION REQUEST, and,( 162.120000) Server URL: https://pbthdm.bt.motive.com; Connecting as user: ACS username, and,( 107.610000) Server URL: http://pbthdmw.bt.motive.com; Connecting as user: Default username. These are my stats now, i used to be 12.53meg with snr of 6.0db

  • Information on enabled services and which ones I can safely disable

Where is a good source of infomation for all of the enabled services (what they do, etc) and which ones I can safely disable. i.e. seaport.

Opt back in and then immediately back out (yes I know this sounds daft)
Leave you hub on 24/7 and it should deactivate as said with in 48 hours.
Don't reset the hub after doing this, as it always puts BTWifi back on!
fwiw, you should see this on the hub event log as the hub gets the btwifi disabled update
