BT Infinity 8 day sync requirement!!

Hello There,
Just had BT Infinity installed and the install went through smoothly however the engineer said he was experiencing errors on the line. DUring this stage I was busy running a broadband speed test and was getting 12mb/s down and 8mb/s up on a regular basis (info: I was quoted 34mb/s down and 6mb/s up). He said that it may take upto 8 days for the connection to sync in and then I should get the speed I was quoted.
To check on these errors he said he would go back to the exchange and connect my fibre port to a test port. While he was away I continued to run the broadband speed test application on my computer. After a while I lost my Internet connection for a short while and then it came back again (probably while he swapped fibre ports). Now the broadband speed test app was showing a download speed of 37mb/s down and 8mb/s up!! Pretty close to what I was quoted. Brillient I thought, problem solved and I'm a happy bunny. HOWEVER...he swapped back the fibre port to the old port and the speed dropped to the original 12mb/s down and 8mb/s up.
When the engineer came back to my house, he said that he had to put my fibre back to the original allocated port and that I would just have to wait 8 days for the sync process to go through and see if the speed increases.
My question is....whats involved with this 8 days sync process. If I know that my line can get the speed that I was quoted, then why wait 8 days!!!

Well whatever port the engineer moved my connection over onto 'AT THE EXCHANGE OR AT THE GREEN BOX'.
'TEST PORT'
'SPARE PORT'
'ANOTHER PORT'
Whatever you want to call it.
The point i'm trying to make is that I had the full speed that I was expecting when he moved my connection onto this port (without having to wait a number of days for the line to sync etc). However he could not leave my connection on this port (which he called a 'TEST PORT'). So he had to move my connection back to the port that was allocated to my connection.
So, i'm now not getting the full speed that I was expecting and I have to wait 10 days before I can log a call to tech support.
If you can see the logic in this then please let me know.....

  • Error message Ipod shuffle cannot be synced. required disk cannot be found.

I just bought the ipod shuffle. I loaded about 110 songs. Then the next day I wanted to load just 9 more and it wouldn't let me giving me the "cannot be synced. required disk cannot be found. Please answer. This is frustrating.

I remember getting that msg periodically when I got my shuffle, but now it's extremely rare [I've not seen one in more than two months].
I donno what causes it, but what always worked for me was to eject the shuttle, un-dock it, quit iTunes, launch it again, cycle iPod power (turn it off if it's on, and on if it's off) once or twice, put it back on the dock, and voila!

  • IPod Classic 120GB cannot sync, "Required disk not found"

Somebody, please help! iPod Classic 120GB charcoal, current OS as of about a week ago (won't stay synced long enough for me to see what it is), iMac 24" 10.6.4, iTunes 10.0.1. Let me know if you need any more info and I'll try to provide it.
Everything was absolutely fine until I updated to the newest version of iTunes. Now, when I plug in my iPod, it says it's connecting then jumps straight to the "Okay to disconnect" screen. It never shows up in iTunes at all. After doing this repeatedly, I unplugged it then immediately plugged it in again before it had finished the progress bar on the "Okay to disconnect" screen, and it finally showed up in iTunes, but it gave me an error of "iPod was not properly disconnected" then "cannot sync - required disk not found" and disconnected itself again.
I tried resetting it (menu+center buttons) while it was plugged in, and this did nothing. iTunes still didn't recognize it at all.
About a week ago, I followed some instructions somewhere and toggled the "enable disk use" option (I usually keep it unchecked) then was able to restore it. The songs were added back in a bizarre order (not alphabetical, not chronological, songs within an album added out of order, jumping from artist to artist, etc.) and I had to sync it again for three random albums that it missed the first time, but once everything was in again it was fine. I haven't added any new songs or playlists to my iTunes library since then (just changed a few ratings and I like to keep track of play counts), but when I tried to sync it again this morning, I got exactly the same errors.
The only difference this time is that it alerted me that one song in my library (a song I happen to like very much) could not be synced. The song still shows up on my iPod, but will not play. It still appears and plays in iTunes on the computer.
The iPod works perfectly in day-to-day use and is a little over a year old. I take very good care of it (my previous iPod is four or five years old and still works fine) and it has never had any problems before this. It has almost 100GB worth of music (no other media, just music), which makes it pretty annoying to have to restore it more than absolutely necessary. What is going on here and is there some way to fix it that will last longer than a week?

Hi, yeah I'm experiencing the same issue as everyone else with a 120gb iPod classic using iTunes 10.1.1 (4). Started about the time of OSX 10.6.5 update and hasn't been resolved with the OSX 10.6.6 update.
iPod attempts to Sync but now quits without even appearing on the computer let alone iTunes.
I have ESET security but quitting the app doesn't help.
I also have an iPhone 3Gs and that's still syncing fine (thank heavens), via a different library.
I've since managed to wipe the iPod clean (back to factory settings) as forced to do so by following the instructions in another post to remove the iPod Photo Cache. I then moved my iTunes folder to another directory for safe keeping.
I set up a clean iTunes database thinking my old one might have been corrupted. To do this you open iTunes from scratch while holding down the option key and select "Create Library". iTunes then remembers the last library created whenever you open the app.
When I am able to see the iPod summary screen (a rare occurrence now) I see that "enable disk use" is checked ok - this has been noted as a problem in previous forums. So that's not the issue.
Actually the iPod doesn't even stay connected to my 2010 unibody MacBook Pro when the iPod is switched over to disc mode. It immediately goes into "OK to Disconnect".
So I now have a clean iPod, and clean iTunes - all empty and essentially useless!
Anybody out there with any ideas? Plllleeeeeeeese?

  • Cannot Sync, Required file not found!

Plz help. I just updated itunes and now when i plug in my ipod, it wont sync,it says, "The ipod "name withheld's ipod" cannot sync. required file not found."

It's possible that the iPod Photo Cache folder on your computer, which is created from syncing photos to your iPod, is interfering with the syncing.
Try deleting the folder from your computer. See this for details:
Photo Sync creates iPod photo Cache
Then, try resyncing your iPod with your computer, and see if it is sucessful or not.

  • Itunes not showing elements 11 drop down list of albums and won't sync, says ïtunes cannot sync, required folder cannot be found. ï have tried re installing both but no success. pls help!!!

Hi, Itunes won't sync my photos to ipad from elements 11. itunes doesn't show drop down list of albums and says Ipad "......cannot be synced, required folder cannot be found" i have tried re installing both programs but no luck. pls help!!!

I managed to finally fix the problem in a relatively painless way. It turned out that the problem wasn't on my phone, the problem was with iTunes. I completely uninstalled iTunes from my PC and then reinstalled it and everything was fine.
In order to completely uninstall iTunes, I did two things:
Used RevoUninstaller to uninstall iTunes. This cleans out a bunch of extra things that the normal iTunes uninstaller misses.
Searched for any iTunes folders/files on my computer (using the freeware utility called Everything) and deleted them manually.
I hope that works for you.

  • 2 error msgs while synching to I-pod touch.  "An error occurred while writing to the device.  Also, I-pod cann be synced, required disk cannot be found.

Two error messages appear while trying to synch to I-pod touch.  "I-pod cannot be synced.  An error occurred while writing to the device."  Second msg:  I-pod cannot be synced, required disk cannot be found."

The latter error can usually be resolved by deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder.  See the following for its location.
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
For the former error, I would try again.  Then I would reset the iPod and try again.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next I would restore the iPod.

  • TS1493 ipod nano displays cant sync. required disc cannot be found.  what do I do??

I have just bought a 6th gen nano.  when trying to sync it I keep getting the message Cant be synced. required disc cannot be found.  Any help on getting around this???

What have you tried in terms of troubleshooting so far?  Has the iPod ever been able to successfully sync with this PC and iTunes before or is this the first time you are connecting it?
I would first make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port directly on your PC and NOT through a HUB.  If possible, use a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable as well.
Is the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes?

  • Wild swings in BT Infinity 2 sync rate.

Got connected at the start of July. BTHH5 listed maximum data rate at 21000 something up, capped at 19999 and between 73000 something and 74000 something down. After the modem decided to start chucking off the wireless devices, a factory reset was required, which reduced the down by about a 1000 or so. Then a couple of weeks later, the maximum data rate went up to 97000 something down, capped at 79999, and 33000 something up, capped at 19999. This was clearly good news, as speed tests now came out at 75 meg down, and the same 19 meg up on the iPad Air, while as the previous down throughput was 67-68 meg at best. Now I know these are good figures anyway, but considering we live so close to the street cabinet, I'd thought we might get the max speeds anyway. Ex hurricane Bertha comes through and the max line speeds dropped back to their previous values, although curiously as the modem didn't re-sync, we maintained the higher sync rates. That was until today, when the HH5 played up again, this time bringing the 5Ghz band only used by the iPad to a grinding near halt, while the 2.4Ghz band continued as normal. Another hard factory reset seems to have cleared that, but the modem has now synced at the lower speeds again. Is there anyway of regaining the faster sync speeds, or do I just have to wait another few weeks and see the sync speeds increase again? These are the current stats,
    1. Product Name: HomeHub5
    2. Serial number: +076284+1402007930
    3. Firmware version: v0.07.01.0235-BT (Type B) Last updated [Unknown]
    4. Board version: 01
    5. VDSL uptime: 0 days, 00:21:39
    6. Data Rate: 19999 / 72757
    7. Maximum Data Rate: 21196 / 72761
    8. Noise Margin: 6.8 / 6.1
    9. Line Attenuation: 0.0 / 10.3
    10. Signal Attenuation: 0.0 / 0.0
The noise margin figures increased significantly when the faster sync rate was achieved, I thought it should be the other way round? The line attenuation has always been either 10.3 or 10.4 down.

We have in the past had occasional noise on the line, usually after it's rained hard. This has led to a complete loss of phone and broadband service. Initially the line has been completely dead, followed by a return of some dial tone, drowned out by a hissing, scratching noise, etc, with the phone ringing randomly. Obviously have reported this line fault each and every time to BT. However by the time they come round, 3 working days later, the fault has gone and they can find nothing wrong. Been repeatedly told they can't do anything unless the fault is present when they come round. I tell them, well come quicker then, which elicits a blank response, and the cycle continues. I've been told it's probably a battery fault. This hasn't happened for some time (touch wood). The last time, the line just went completely dead. They switched the line at the street cabinet, which led to the line attenuation increasing significantly on the old router stats, and a drop in ADSL2+ sync speed. Was suggested that they may have piggy backed the line to another adjacent street cabinet. There often seems to be someone there doing something. Many people in our street and beyond have had the same problems, with loss of service in some cases in the weeks!
P.S. The previous HH5 hard factory reset required all the wireless devices to be reconnected manually. This hasn't happened this time, all the devices just picked up the connection again. Is this normal? Could it in some way suggest that the hard reset wasn't a hard reset, even though I stuck the pin in the back of the modem?
P.P.S. I can't do the quiet line test at the moment.

  • Need Help ASAP! TV Show won't sync, required disc not found

I need some help!!! I am trying to sync a TV SHow to my iPod and I can't get it to work. For some reason in iTunes, I have to completely unplug and plug in my iPod anytime I want it to sync, pressing the sync button does not work, neither does pressing the apply button after checking the TV show that I want to sync. SInce I don't have to update any settings for music, this isn't a problem, I just unplug my iPod and plug it back in and it syncs automatically. The error message I get when trying to sync Shows, or videos or anything where you have to update is Can't sync iPod required disc not found. If someone could respond to this right away, I would appreciate it as we are going to be traveling today, and I would love to have something to watch during my four hour flight!

  • 30 Days sync

Is there an app to sync more than 30 days of emails in my inbox?

Unfortunately the BB 10 is designed to sync the Calendar only 30 backwards, although there is a workaround to sync up to 180 days, but no more.  I contacted BB Customer Support ([email protected]) and after a lot of investigation the agent e-mailed me as follows:
"After investigating the issue, we were able to determine that it is By Design, for the Z10 to synchronize up to 30 days, in the past, of Calendar items.  This can be workaround by implementing changes on Exchange, up to a maximum of 180 days, in the past.  We opened a Dev Task, internally, to request that the option to sync the entire Calendar, to be available."
But the Development Task is likely to take months as it joins a queue along with many others.  However, it might be an idea for anyone who would like to see Calendar sync 'forever' backwards, to also raise a question at the Help Desk.  The more people that request it the higher up the urgency list it will be pushed.
It is very annoying not to be able to have the entire back Calendar on my Z10, as we used to have on all previour=s BB models and O/S.  So please contact BB to push this forward!

  • What should I do when I see this error message: iPhone cannot be synced required disk cannot be found?

What should I do when I try to sync my iPhone 4s with a MacBook and get the error message: "iPhone cannot be synced...required disk cannot be found?"

Close "iPhoto" if it is open. Open the "Pictures" folder and right-click on "iPhoto Library." Select "Show Package Contents." Right-click the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, select "Move to Trash" and sync your iPhone. The error message should no longer appear.
    if that doesn't work,
uninstall itunes and download the lastest version
