BT Infinity and https connection issues

I have sporadic issues with https connections on my BT Infinity service.
I used to be on Virgin ADSL and had no issues.
I can also use a Orange mobile dongle with no issues if I switch to that when experiencing problems with BT.
Some example sites:
Dixons checkout pages
NatWest banking pages
Anyone else experience this?
Should I periodically reboot the HomeHub and VDSL?
Cheers,
Jason.

Can someone on Infinity kindly do me a test and visit https://upgrades.o2.co.uk/index.htm and tell me if it's darn slow for you too?  It's not the site as I'm loading up VNC and connecting to a VPS in America and it's instantly loading. It'll definitely rule out traffic shaping if someone on Infinity can tell me either way.
Thanks you generous souls!!!

  • BT Infinity and HH3 connectivity issues

Hi all, can somebody PLEASE help me as I am at my wits end with this.
I have BT Infinity 1 & HH3. I have 4 laptops which are connecting to it at different times. (Never all at once)
All work fine on Local area connection and ethernet cable with a steady download speed of 33 - 36Mbs depending on time of day.
Wi-fi however is a different kettle of fish.
Recently 2 of the computers would only connect locally with no internet access. After resetting the HH3 by unplugging it and plugging it in again everything worked fine but only for a short while. Everyday I keep having to reset the HH3. The two computers that are giving me the problem both operate using windows vista. The other computers both use windows 7. This may be coincidental but has to be considered.
Heres what I have discovered so far.
    1) When I investigate the properties of the network I see Autoconfig IPV4 with an IP address starting with 169 which even I know with my limited knowledge is not correct. IP address should start with 192.
    2) The wi-fi download speed is continually dropping drastically until I reset the home hub. This morning when I tested it was down to 4Mbs and its at this point where the 2 problem computers wont connect. After resetting, the wi-fi download speed goes back to normal around 29 to 33Mbs and the 2 problem computers miraculously start connecting again.
    3) Thought I had resolved the problem when I compared the properties of all four computers and found that the encryption setting on one of the computers was set to TKIP instead of AES. Thought this may have been confusing the home hub. But alas one day later I am having to rest the home hub again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    See https://community.bt.com/t5/Other-Broadband-Queries/HH3-Infinity-Local-WiFi-Channel-fade/td-p/144629...
The 169  IP address is locally assigned by Windows when it can`t get an IP address from the home hub. Its only a local IP address, and cannot be used to connect to the Internet.

  • BT Infinity HTTPS connection issues- anyone else?

    Hi all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been having considerable problems with HTTPS sites over the past few months - timing out, unable to make payments online with ClickSafe - Lloyds Bank, Natwest, NEXT, National Lottery. Some HTTPS sites load eventually but usually very very slowly or time out.
This issue is across all my devices - Macbook Pro, iPad Air, Samsung Tablet, Windows 8 Laptop, x3 iPhone 5.
If I switch WiFi off on my iPhone I can make payments over the mobile phone network fine but as soon as I switch WiFi on the problems occur again. I took my Laptop to a friends house and used their TalkTalk Broadband and no issues, all worked fine.
I have had 2 HH4 and now a HH5 and the problem still occurs.
I have Changed numerous settings, undertaken numerous reboots and complete resets to no avail.
I have enabled firewalls and disabled firewalls, changed MTU and numerous other possible fixes, but again none have worked.
I have paid for BT Tech Expert support who have been very helpful  and always called back when they have said they would but they do not know what the problem is and are still working on it. Next call on Monday night.
I found this very long thread starting in 2011 and ending in February 2013, where BT customers were experiencing the exact same problems in the South West of England and it turned out to be a network issue that was resolved but it does not explain how it was resolved!

I am in Newcastle upon Tyne and would be grateful if anyone could let me know if they are having the similar problems?
    Thanks for your help.

To try changing DNS server on your Windows 8 laptop, see this Microsoft note.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows8_1-networking/how-to-change-ipv4-dns-server-...
You can use 8.8.8.8 as they suggest, as that is Google public DNS.
If that fixes the problem on the laptop, it would point to a problem with BTs DNS servers.

  • HTTP and HTTPS connections time out--only one computer on the LAN has this problem. Also affects Internet Explorer

For the last few days HTTP and HTTPS connections on one computer on my LAN usually time out or fail to load completely. This also affects Internet Explorer on the same machine, but email, FTP, etc. seem to be working normally. The URLs that do not load in the browsers ping normally, and load normally on another machine on the same LAN. Running Firefox in Safe Mode does not help.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

  • Webdynpro ABAP/Portal. Plugin HTTP connection issue on WaitingEventQueue.js

    Hello,
We are experiencing a strange Portal Behavior with our Webdynpros. Our portal contains several iViews including some Webdynpro (ABAP) and some reporting transaction calls that use SAPgui for HTML.
When portal is called for the first time and a user logs in, two connections of type RFC can be seen for that user in SM04 in our ERP system. All iViews work as expected. For example, calling the Time Management webdynpro closes one of the RFC connections and starts a new Pluguin HTTP connection. We can go back and forth between the welcome page and this Webdynpro with no issues.
If we then select one of the reporting transaction codes, the portal launches the SAPGUI for HTML. Report retrieves and shows data, and then we close using the "Exit" button provided by the sapgui for HTML
Next we try again to launch any webdynpro (abap), but SM04 shows that the new Plugin HTTP session gets stuck and spinning mid way, and will stay there. Refreshing the Portal screen with F8, navigating back and forth, logging off and on again has no effect. The webdynpros will not launch again. Only webdynpros are affected, any of the reporting transactions can be called successfully over and over.
We have figured that deleting Temporary Internet files (we are using IE 7), and in particular by just deleting the WaitingEventQueue.js?XXXXXXXXXXX file, the system will break away from the spin loop and show the webdynpro again, but eventually it will get stuck again, and asking the users to delete their Temporary Internet Files every 5 minutes is not a workable solution
I have reviewed the contents of this javascript file at different points during the test, and the contents do not change, so deleting the file and the recreate process must be resetting somehow the queue and allowing for a new correct communication.
Is there a way to properly reset this event queue (for example from ABAP, when the webdynpros are reloaded) in order to avoid the spin loop?
    Thanks for any help!
    Andres

Well, we got the issue resolved, so here is what we did, in case anybody is interested:
Tested again our portal with multiple versions of Internet Explorer, in particular IE8 and IE6, the Webdynpro behavior was normal (no timeouts or locks). It even worked when we installed IE7 in a brand new machine and tried our portal.
So we started suspecting if maybe the particular IE7 that we install internally (with specific settings and policies) may be the culprit. We took a desktop that was producing the timeouts and used the following options in IE7:
    Tools->Internet Options->Advanced(tab)-Reset Internet Explorer settings
and, voila! the next time we ran there, the portal did not create any timeouts.
We even asked our desktop support team to uninstall and reinstall IE7 in the same machine after we did the reset, and even after the re-install that the timeout problems did not re-appear.
One of the things that the "reset" option does is delete the Add-ons used by IE.
So as a last test, we took a machine that was presenting the problem and went to the Internet Options to disable all the add-ons (in the Programs Tab). The error disappeared.
And even after enabling back all the add-ons, the error would not return.
    Conclusion:
Without being able to pinpoint the specific add-on (or combination) that causes the problem, we suspect that some of them conflicted, causing IE7 to behave abnormally. Disabling them all, restarting Internet Explorer, and enabling them again, makes the WaitingEventQueue.js work as it should

  • ServletOutputStream and https connection

    Hi,
We have a servlet that streams a PDF file into the ServletOutputStream of the response object. We set the content type in the header to be application/pdf. There is nothing special in the logic and there is nothging else in the response object except this stream of binary file.
However, when the application is run using https connection the browser would always issue a warning message "This page contains both secure and non-secure items. Would you like to view the non-secure items?" Why is this? Does it mean that the binary stream is not encrypted automatically if using ServletOutputStream? What do we need to do to ensure that the file we send through ServletOutputStream will be automatically encrypted when viewed in an https connection?
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • OSB call to remote Web Service via https proxy and https CONNECT problem

    Hi
I have a service that calls a web service on another server as a web service. This call is via https and the certificate validation raises no errors.
I now want this call to go via a squid httpd proxy on port 3128 on some machine. So I would like to use HTTP CONNECT (RFC 2817) proxying,. But when I set up this as a proxy, I am getting "Certificate chain" error messages. The certifcate chains is no different now from when I called without the http proxy, so what am I doing wrong? Does OSB support HTTP CONNECT?
    -Johan

The exeption we are getting is BEA-380000
General runtime error: [Security:090477]Certificate chain received from XXX - 123.123.123.123 --> test.salesforce.com was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure.
This is of course not relevant if the callout were using CONNECT. In the CONNECT scenario, OSB would not care about XXX's certificate.

  • Database link and remote connection issues..

We have a sql script... Large script that we would rather not post here. The script connects through a dblink to a remote site at the beginning and gets thousands of records. We then process these records locally which takes around 40 minutes. The link is unused for that time. Then the same script attempts to connect again through the dblink and set a confiirmation flag. But this final confirmation step routinely fails. The script used to work fine when the confirmation was at the beginning of the script.
My understanding is that when you go out through a dblink it creates a session on the remote computer. The session stays active until the local proc ends or the session times out. Successive calls through the dblink from the same proc will reuse the same remote session? Is this true?
So, Is the inactivity period possibly causing this dblink connectivity issue? We put some test sql select statements in the script here and there selecting from dual at the remote site to test the link inbetween major proc calls. Sometimes even these fail. What do I have to do to keep this link active? Is this even my issue?
Like I said this script worked fine when the confirmation piece was at the beginning right before we start downloading files and basically no inactivity period... Now we download files and confirm at the end with a 40min to 2 hour inactivity between.
The remote site as well as the network claim that they are not dropping us... The only piece of information I can provide is that on our side SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME = 10 and on there side SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME = 0. I've read that others solved this issue by manipulating this value.
Here are some of the errror message we get in our script...

  • Download and iTunes connection issues

As of recently, I have purchased numerous audio and video files from the iTunes store with no difficulty or connection issues of any kind. Though today, I attempted to download the Iron Maiden: Flight 666 movie, and had issues with my download. Though the file is downloading, it is taking an excruciatingly long amount of time. A 3.09 Gigabyte file, a file which might have previously taken me about an hour to download on my connection, now displays an estimated download time of 17+ hours. It has been downloading now for at least an hour, and only 9.5 Megabytes have been successfully downloaded. Now, I am experiencing difficulty accessing the iTunes store at all. An error message continually pops up saying that my connection has been lost and the download pauses, though I have checked my connection time and time again. I have even contacted my internet provider, Comcast, in hopes of solving my problem. My connection is good, though iTunes itself is the only thing giving me difficulty. I have gone through all of the steps that Apple has recommended, and have not had any success in attempting to download the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • WAP2000 and iPhone connectivity issues?

I have several WAP2000 (Firmware 2.0.0.5), and while they work fine for PC's, iPhones, iPod touches cannot connect to them.
Well, they connect briefly, get an IP address from the router, and immediately drop the connection to re-connect again.
I have tried changing channels, eliminating all but one of the AP's, and so forth.
Has anyone else had issues with this firmware?  I see posts where people are saying their iPhones connect up fine.  This happens on versions 3.x and 4.x of the iphone O.S.  It's not limited to one iphone or ipod touch; we've tried several.
If anyone else is running 2.0.0.5 of the firmware and they are having success with an iphone, can you please tell me your settings?
    Thanks in advance!
    --Greg

    Greg,
I think I have the same problem but with a Blackberry Storm 2.  (I posted in the last two days--Look for WAP2000 and Storm 2)  I see the Storm 2 connect successfully to the WAP2000 but then never establish a connection to the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES)...Necessary to do anything useful with a Blackberry device.  A few months aga (Before I had my Storm 2) I had borrowed an iPhone for a week.  During that time I tried to use my WiFi but it never seemed to work (ie Established a WiFi link but then couldn't do anything else with it.).  Since I didn't have it long and WiFi wasn't the object of my testing I ignored the problem.  Now troubleshooting my Storm 2 problem and realizing that other WiFi devices on my network have been experiencing issues (the Storm 2 appears to have been most impacted) it is very likely that the iPhone I borrowed was experiencing the same problem.
You can read my previous post but a quick summary--> When I used a packet analyzer (Wireshark) I saw that my router was issuing ARP address discovery broadcasts to the Storm 2's IP address but the Storm 2 was not responding.  I had tested the same setup with a different wireless access point (Linksys WAP54G) and saw the Storm 2 properly respond (and the Storm 2 worked perfectly when connected to the WAP54G).  I concluded that the WAP2000 was either not forwarding the ARP broadcast to the Storm 2 or it was not forwarding the Storm 2's response back to the LAN.
I created a work around the now allows my Storm 2 (and multiple other devices) to function successfully on the network.  I have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has a ststic ARP table and is capable or proxy-arp (ie.  It can respond to ARP requests on behalf of devices on the network).  I simply created an entry for my Storm 2 and now it functions properly.  I also had a laptop and an IP security camera that had intermittent connectivity issues.  When I added static ARP entries for these items their problems disappeared as well.
I don't think this is a settings issues so I am hoping Cisco confirms this as a bug and issues a firmware update.
    I hope this helps.

This is just a guess as I'm not a Transall user. My first guess is that your DSN will need to be made using the 32-bit ODBC driver. As a default, using Windows 7 or later, you created a 64-bit source.
To create or modify a 32-bit DSN on 64-bit Windows, you must run C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. You may find it useful to create a shortcut to this on your desktop or Start menu if you access it frequently. I believe the interface is exactly the same after that.

  • CC 2014 Adobe suite and iCloud connection issue

Ever since I bought the new iCloud and Abobe Creative suite, I've had issues. The apps were working up until now, but the iCloud connection never worked. It kept scrolling. I noticed that when I would shut down my computer and relaunch, it would launch all the programs I had open and create a scrolling issue. Mind you, I still use the old CS5 programs and I am mainly using the CC for Dreamweaver right now. I've been have to force quit things in start-up. So, I don't know if this has to do with the iCloud issue or not.
The main thing that has happened today, is that my apps don't work now. It's telling that I need to change my firewall settings. Why now? Anyway, I'm frustrated for two reasons. I subject to working on things based on internet connection. This is why I keep my old apps. But, now I'm frustrated because of what is happening on start up and the fact that I can't my Dreamweaver app.
I'm in the middle of a project. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Infinity and wireless router issues

    Hi Folks,
Thanks for taking the time to read this, if anyone has any similar issues or resolutions to the situation feel free to chip in..
We had Infinity installed a while back and noticed some intermittent connection problems, the issue was that wireless connections would suddenly loose the gateway and go offline but unusually it was always fixed by simply restarting the network adapter on the client machine, the wireless signals were always near full strength.
Later on I noticed that although the clients seemed to loose connection it actually appears to loose DNS and keeps existing connections live, example below, meaning that if you had fired up a streaming connection before the 'drop' it would continue to stream to the client perfectly although the client could not access any new connections(online).
The setup we were given on installation consisted of an Infinity wired(only) box that connects to our old wireless router which appears to be acting as a wireless bridge to the Infinity box.
Having been a BBI Tech for a well known ISP Customer Service Centre, using a process of elimination I am guessing that there is an issue between the old router and the new Infinity router that is causing conflicts to crop up.
**Example** A friend working out of the country was using a VNC client to logon to my machine as he couldn't access our DB servers from his location, he became confused when he was using my desktop and suddenly he lost online capability.... even though he was remotely logged into my machine to witness it he couldnt open any websites or connect to any DB's.
I would appreciate any input as im thinking that the best way to fix this would be to buy a new Infinity capable modem with wireless built in, but am reluctant to do so as the standard kit should work after being setup by the engineer..
    In summary:-
wireless drops dns with signal full, (not a signal issue)
current connections stay open, (again not a signal issue or problem with the broadband)
cannot open any new connections, (not sure if this is dns based as cant even connect to direct ip's)
the clients have all been fine on other wireless networks, (not just tested on an individual, faulty adapter)
renewing the connection from the client fixes the issue, (something to do with lease times or bad routing maybe?)
The wireless router is one of the black homehubs.
Any help appreciated as im having to write this post using my 3G connection to ensure i dont get dropped.
    Thanks
    Mike

This is the setup left by the engineer...

Please note www.somewebsite.com is just a made up name.
When I googled around it seems to indicate a firewall is blocking this URL. So I did the following:
Make sure OSX firewall is turned off - it always was.
Tried to flush the cache by typing dscacheutil -flushcache but to no avail.
Tried accessing using Firefox - same result
Any suggestions on how I can fix this issue.
