BT Infinity and the Master Socket - will they / wo...

It seems that they won't. Well not unless you pay. Like many others posting on this forum, I was seduced by Infinity, but then confused by the requirements of installation in respect of the utilisation of the master socket and subsequent location of equipment. My house is typical of the problem - master socket downstairs front of house - wanted equipment sited upstairs back of house. Didn't want an extension draped around the place. I needed to know: 1. Can the master socket be moved? 2. If it can be, is this part of the istallation? 3. If it is not part of the standard installation is there a cost associated with it? 4. What is the cost? Sounds straightforward - it wasn't. I won't bore you with the frustrations of BT customer services, these are well documented elsewhere on the forum. Suffice to say, I have decided not to go ahead with my order. Not because of the content of the eventual reply, but because these frustrations. Anyway, I did eventually get a response by using the complaints route - as BT seen unwilling to share this information, I have. Hope it helps. RESPONSE FROM BT COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT: The power needs to be plugged into the master socket so that the engineer can plug in your new Hub and Openreach fibre modem. If you haven't, no problem. Your engineer can run an Ethernet extension cable (up to 30 metres long) from where you can plug in your Hub and Openreach fibre modem back to your phone master socket. This extension can only go along walls - not under carpets or floors. If this is not suitable we can arrange a shift to be done, to move your master socket to a position of your choice. This would involve a one-off cost of £130.00. So there you have it.

Depends on the type of cable really, if its 'phone wire', you know those thin strands of copper coated steel then that would kill the broadband.
Also most peoples extensions are the untwisted 10, 15, 25, etc metres reels you can buy from a supermarket, again not ideal for ADSL Broadband, let alone FTTC.

Am I the only fool who clicked on update all when my iPad told me updates were available? Two updates loaded just fine, but the other four never updated and now lie useless and grayed out. I fixed it by going through a few steps using iTunes while hooked to my computer.

Use an app called chameleon ssd optimizer.
I enabled trim with it after almost a year of having installed a Samsung 840 pro SSD and my read/write speeds almost quadrupled.
I would definite;y advise using it even though Samsung SSD's come with there own garbage disposal.

AT&T has not as of yet announced any plans to unlock an iPhone that was purchased as locked to them. Whether or not they will do so in the future, only AT&T would know, and they probably will not say unless and until they're ready to make an official announcement. There is nothing Apple can do for you in this matter unless you are still within the timeframe for returning the iPhone.

IWork Numbers program. I am trying to create a 'Master Table'. The table will be used on numerous sheets, when cells altered on the 'Master' it will show on all sheets using the Master table. Is this a possibility??

On the individual pages however, they will be able to be altered purely for that page.

The formula in the Index column of the Main table is:
E2: =IF(A,MAX($E$1:E1)+1,"")
Fill down to the end of column E.
The Breakout table contains a single formula:
A2: =IF((ROW()-1)>MAX(Main :: $E),"",OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,MATCH(ROW()-1,Main :: $E,0)-1,COLUMN()))
Fill down and right to fill the table.
For multiple rooms (with different data transfered to each) you'll need a column of checkboxes and a corresponding index column for each room.
The index columns can be hidden.
Contents in individual cells in the breakout tabel(s) can be entered directly, replacing the formula. To retun to the calculated result, select a cell adjacent to the one where text was entered, and drag the Fill control handle (small circle, bottom right of the selection rectangle) to fill the formula back into that cell.

Want to upgrade to Infinity but need master socket...

Our master socket is under the stairs, which will mean that it will soon be at the back of a cupboard so we need it moved so that it is in the living room where our router is. We have had problems for several months now with our Hub 3 constantly dropping the internet connection with BT and am hoping that once socket is moved, upgrading will be a worthwhile option. We have been all round the website and can't find out if/how we can get somebody out to do this.

Thanks for posting. If you want to move the master socket it's called an internal shift which carries a charge of £130. You might want to consider powerline adaptors as an alternative. Let me know what you think.

You can use a download instead of the disk as an alternative: Adobe - Download free trial version Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 | Adobe you can license with your serial
Please test the disk in another windows machine to check if it's caused by the drive or the disk. If you tested with 2 drives please start a support case, i assume Adobe will only provide downloads at this point. They are the same as the trials. If you still need a disk you can burn the trial to a disk as a backup disk. Good luck!

No.
The Apple TV is the guts of an iPad without the screen or battery running a different build of the OS. Ie, its very cheap to make and runs an ARM processor (like all iDevices)
The Mac mini is 6x the price and is a full intel computer running the OS X.
Now, it could be that the Apple TV gets more powerful and its OS more diverse and "computer like" (apps + iCloud for example), but for now they're still coming from totally different directions.

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

All Updates to Snow Leopard are gotten from Software Update or from the Apple download site.
There is no Snow "LION". there is Lion and now Mountain Lion buit both of those are Download Only from the Mac App Store. You need to have Snow Leopard 10.6.6, .7 or .8 to have the Mac Apple store link on your Mac.
To get Lion you need to call the Apple Store, 1-800-MYAPPLE, and order it. They will send you a download code to your Apple ID Email address so you can download it from the Mac Appl Store.
Oh and when you call them to order Lion ask about returning Snow Leopard.

- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
