BT Infinity for Cabinet 29, Ackworth Moor Top (WF7...

A new fibre cabinet was installed a couple of months ago (March) .... which BT seem to have no knowledge of.
I spoke to the engineers working on the cabinet on Saturday (17th May) who said there had been a 'mistake' on the original job sheet and only data cables (no power) had been fitted to the cabinet. He stated that the cabinet would be 'ready to go' when this work to install a power supply was completed (which it was on the 20th May).
The thing is  ... now what ?
BT still seem to have zero knowledge that the new cabinet even exists and there is no (even estimated) date for the availability of BT infinity on the website. If the cabinet is really 'ready to go' then what exactly are we waiting for ?
Having been stuck with 1Mb/s ADSL for the last 3 years this is soooo frustrating :-(

by BT do you mean openreach?  does it appear on the adsl checker https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

  • Using Firefox 26. How do I get a close button for each tab at the top of the screen?

Some time ago, I had a close tab button for each tab on the top of the screen. I want that back. I have no additional add ons and the close tab is set to 1. Changing it to 2 does nothing.

Do you have installed this extension?
    *Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
If you do not have the extension and also have no need for the feature that it provides then you can ignore this.
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut

Looking for a 2-line set-top box to connect to my router, is there one?
    Caps

    Hi,
I am not sure I can help on a Utility for doing this.
Again my Sagem router tells me the speed it is connecting to.
A Basic (I think what the service is supposed to be) on the front page and a Statistic item I get slightly different readings from.
The second are much closer to the Speeds I get from here
    http://www.speedtest.net/
IPNetmonitor used to be a trial download as well.
It can do things like Trace Routes (you put in an IP and it will tell you the pings times to all the intervening servers).
I did use it some time ago as it then listed it did Port Scans on UDP (The Network Utility from Apple only does TCP and iChat uses UDP ports).
I have not come across anything that would tell me the Cable length to the Exchange. (So many factors that could make a measurement difficult to calibrate).

  • Looking for Hp envy sleekbook 6 top and bottom casing in pakistan

I am looking for Hp envy Sleekbook 6 top and bottom casing.. Plz tell me where can i find it in pakistan.

I bought a new ENVY and spent more time troubleshooting 'NO INTERNET CONNECTION' 90% of the time. After spending HOURS on the phone with HP SUPPORT and resetting router and adapter over and over, the issue came back! Everyone elses laptops in the house connected just fine. I finally got so ticked I did a recovery...BIG MISTAKE since it deleted many apps however, I'm not getting the NO internet connection anymore. Now I have to do a backup of files and a reset. The HP tech wanted to sell me another warranty that "included cracked screen" coverage. He said the 2 yr warranty didn't cover it and the longer I waited the more it would cost. After reading your post I am confused...does the 2 yr warranty cover it or not? Sorry to hear about your issues as it must be extremely frustrating...I'd be upset!

My phone has been set up previously for itunes on my lap top but my phone now shows the connect to itunes message even though the phone is connected....Ive tried every thing I can think of ...now I cant use my phone ..please help ?

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
Unfortunately, the data on your phone is already gone if you're seeing the connect to iTunes logo.

  • My screen is all white except for the noto bar up top and i cant even tur it off. what do i do?

My screen is completely white except for the notification bar up top and it recieves calls and messages theres just no screen or anything i can touch and i cant turn it off. What do i do?

See if this unblocks your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • BT Infinity for new build

    Hi,
I've tried searching the forum but can't seem to find posts that are related to my situation.
Basically I'm moving into a new build.  There isn't a phone line yet.  The postcode checker doesn't think BT Infinity is available, so I can't order.
However, as advised by the FAQ at http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/BT-Infinity-Availability-FAQs/td-p/181603, I checked on the wholesale checker www.btwholesale.com/adslchecker and it says it's all available.  Any advice please?

  • Put up with Infinity for over a year. About to rag...

Title says it all. I had no real problems with BT broadband until I upgraded to Infinity. Then the fun began. Currently scraping along at 4Mb download speed. Cannot physically bring myself to phone BT AGAIN, and go through the same ludicrious set of steps AGAIN. I must have gone through this process a dozen times over the last few months.
    1. Hit problems. Either speed flatlines or hub's BB connection constantly drops.
    2. Reboot hub / router. No effect.
    3. Pluck up some courage. Steel myself for the coming saga. Pick up the phone, and call BT.
    4. Speak to some extremely pleasant, Indian chap / lady, who insist on walking me through every baby step every time. No I'm not using a wireless connection. Yes I've tried rebooting. What's that you say, you CAN see a fault somewhere not inside my house? I'M SHOCKED.
    5. Listen to the profuse, over-the-top apologies from the hard pressed CSR peeps out in India, feeling sorry for both myself and them. Engineers will be roused! Amends will be made!
    6. Receive immediate follow up call from manager asking my opinion on the person I've just spoken to.
    7. If an engineer has been booked to come out to my house, they will not turn up 2 times out of 3, and I'll receive a phone call telling me they're not coming in advance perhaps 20% of those times, meaning a wasted morning / afternoon waiting in.
    8. Connection is fixed usually within 24-48 hours after phone call. Assume something, somewhere has been rebooted.
They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. What can I do different? What it looks like to me is some piece of infrastructure between me and the internet is periodically barfing, and needs rebooting. But no one seems to notice unless I call. And let me tell you, I'm really, really sick of calling. Hence this slightly incoherent plea for help.
    I despair.

    Thanks, that's an interesting suggestion.
I'm not sure it entirely fits the pattern I'm seeing (I think it tends to be fine for longer periods than that, then dies a month or so later), but I think I'll monitor the speed much more closely than usual over the next few days. I tend to forget to check the speed once everything seems back to normal, and it usually takes frequent disconnects before I really notice how bad things have gotten again. Interestingly, on this call the guy I spoke to made a point of saying I should not disconnect or turn off my equipment, presumably meaning they will indeed reset DLM; they may well have done this in the past, but I hadn't understood the implications.
On a side note, does anyone know of a speedtest style app which could check and log speed periodically over a period of time, rather than remembering to do it manually?

  • Getting BT Infinity for my block of flats?

    Hi,
I have read a lot of post about people confused about why they can't get BT Infinity when their neighbours can. My question is similar but maybe a bit more specific.
So I live in Crystal Palace, London. My flat is part of a 1920's development (approximately 64 flats within 4 blocks) located away from the street.
All the other properties on my street and the next which it turns into can get 'BT Infinity' (this includes all the regular houses, a 1960's block and even the Church and local community hall opposite.
I have checked the 'Openreach' site as well as the 'FTTC checker' where you can find your nearest exchange and they all use the same as my address but we are the only ones that don't receive 'Fiber to the Cabinet'.
Is this a specific issue with my block of flat rather than the exchange and is it possible for my management company find out if there are any problems with the building like old wiring that needs to be updated etc?
I've exhaust the internet and this forum, so if anyone can add anything that would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Tom

  • Provision date for BT Infinity for my number

The Openreach 'When and Where' site is now telling me that my exchange (Basford) is 'Accepting Orders'. The fibre cabinet has been installed and there has been cabling activity in the area. The BT Infinity checker however, is still telling me that I can't have service on my number until 31 March 2012. Is there any way of finding out a more realistic RFS date or do I need to keep checking every day until the checker changes to 'Choose a package'?

You got it in one. There are several reasons why it might not yet be ready. Typically the end of quarter dates are put there as a place hold and may be brought forward. Similarly though they can go back...it just all depends on if there are problems with the installation.

  • BT Infinity for Lower Cambourne, Cambridge - Caxto...

    Hi All,
I was wondering whether you have an update regarding the launch of the BT Infinity service in Lower Cambourne?  We are now seeing fibre optic cabling team in Cambourne who have confirmed that they are there for BT Infinity.
I have looked at your info pages on the site and Caxton was supposed to have been upgraded by the end of December 2011, but as we have had no further communication I am assuming there has been a delay?
Please let us know as we're looking to get signed up asap.
    Many thanks,
    Richard

This is a customer to customer forum. We have no more information than what's already available in the public domain.
What result do you get if you put your telephone number into the BT Wholesale availability checker?
Be aware that just because an area or exchange become active, doesn't necessarily mean the cabinet you're served from will be. The above checker will give the most up to date info

  • BT INFINITY - Unacceptable Cabinet Enabling Delays...

    Hi,
My local exchange (Prescot) was enabled over 2 years ago in March 2012, and I was initlally assured that BT Infinity would be installed in my home within 3 months, as I only live approx 1.5 miles from the Prescot exchange.
However, the 3 month deadline came and went. And, in fact, this 3 month window has been now been rolled forward 12 times to the end June, 2014.
Initially, I was able to contact the BT Openreach website for updates, but this servive has now been withdrawn, and there is no "contact us" for individual customers now. The same is also true for BT Openreach - again no individual enquires can be made to them.
The main problem is that my local cabinet (CAB 1) has not yet been enabled for some reason - and I have had a devil of a time trying to find out why. Iwas initially advised that the was a planning issue with Knowsley Council. However, I was lucky that I know the planning director personally assured me that no planning applications had been received. And, in fact, they have been trying to promote the rollout throughout the borough in order to promote communication in order to assist in providing jobs
I have lodged 2 complaints via the BT Infinity website the lastest being yesterday.
I received a phone call today from a BT Retail call-centre located in India to advise me that I need to lodge a complaint with Sky - my current provider!!!????
I explained that BT owned my local exchange, and BT owned my local cabinet, and BT were laying the fibre-optic cable, so why ring Sky????????? Also, I want to move from Sky to BT Infinity as my landline is with BT.
But they said they couldn't help - I would need to contact BT Openworld or BT Openreach. And then I asked a simple question "Could they not forward my complaint to BT Openreach or BT Openreach as I cannot contact them direct - and the answer was NO!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE!! Call me old-fashioned , but it just seems amazing that a global communications company cannot communicate with itself!!!!!!! I asked them several time!s...could they not sent BT Openreach an email ie copy/paste my complaint into an email and forward it on. Answer = no! Can they, or a colleague, give them a call to find out what is causing the delay. Answer = no! Can they not just forward my complaint onwards? Answer = no!
Like I say, it's just unbelievable that a global comminications giant cannot communicate with it's own sister companies!!!
So my next step is to contact my local MP: Shawn Woodward in an effort to find out exaxtly what the problem is, and the reasons for the 2 years plus delay to lay a fibre optical cable one mile down a main road. I also live on a housing estate adjoining a large newly built general hospital, so there shouldn't be a problem with cabling ducts etc.
    So there we are...rant over!
But BT is NOT very good on communication. Completely appalling, in fact! On a score of 1 to 10....a resounding zero!!!
    Customer service...an absolute joke.

BT has not started installing a new cabinet yet, so I cannot see the current dealine for the end of June being realised...yet again. And no specific reasons for the delay, just a generic dscription of possible reasons
But your post was verp helpful....thanks. (I have received more help/advice offf you than BT!)

  • Infinity at cabinet connected to Salford (Manchest...

    Hi,
I have checked and Blackfriars exchange in Salford (Manchester City Centre) has been provisioned for FTTC  but it seems there is an issue with the cabinet. I checked https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html and the below is the text:
FTTC is currently not available on this cabinet due to following reasons:- Sorry we need to do more work on our network before we can make your cabinet live. Bear with us.
How can I get this accelerated? Its been like this for ages and there is zero progress.
    Please help - Thanks!

Hello everyone first time poster here. Just read your posting re issues with your cabinet in Salford, I too am a Salford resident and connected to the Pendleton exchange (which was upgraded two years ago to allow the provision of superfast broadband) I recently emailed openreach as although many cabinets in the area have now been upgraded for infinity the one serving my home has not, the reply has been very similar to the one you have received ( infrastructure problems etc) and I have have been given a default date of March 2014, all very frustrating, It would appear that generally Salford is not being served well re the roll out of superfast broadband, and the general lack of clarity/readily available information on the subject in not good.

  • No variable audio output for Cisco CHS 435HDC set top box.

Background:  Until the other day I had my stb connectected to a TV, using TV sound, with an HDMI cable.  The P265v2 remote volume control changed the TV volume.  No problems.
My new TV & home theater system was recently installed.  We don't use the TV speakers.  While my first preference was to program the Verizon remote to change the volume on my Onkyo receiver, this did not appear to be an option on the remote's programming instruction page on the Verizon website.  Instead, I am directed to change a setting on the remote that makes the Verizon remote change the stb output volume vs the tv volume.  I changed the setting on the remote and ensured the stb box was set up for "variabe" audio output.
Problem:  Using the stb variable audio settings, volume settings 1 through 30 produce the same volume.  (Volume setting 0 produces no volume, as one would hope.)  It appears the "variable" setting isn't producing a variable output as it should be on this unit.
Thinking that maybe the receiver was complicating the sitation, I tried connecting the stb to the old TV and the new TV directly and had the same results.
Now, while I am watching TV, I need to have the receiver remote at hand in addition to the Verizon remote.  It would be nice to have the volume be adjustable as it should be while using the Verizon remote.  I don't like the idea of using a seperate universal remote because then I would lose some of the functionality that the Verizon remote provides when watching TV, using the DVR, watching on demand, etc.
I would like to know if this is a problem just with my unit, or if it exists with all of these units, which would hopefully be fixed with a Cisco/Verizon firmware update soon, hopefully.
    Thank you.

Having same issues with hdmi and optical. Any fix to this.
    Hello,
In order to control the volume on your home theater system, you'll need a FiOS TV Universal Remote that has the 4-buttons on the top for 'DVD', 'Aux'iliary, 'TV' and 'STB'.  The audio receiver would have to be programmed into the FIOS TV Remote, and controlled using the 'Aux'iliary button.
Verizon's 4-Button Universal Remote Controls are available for purchase:
    a) online via www.verizon.com/fiosaccessories
    OR
    b) at a local FiOS TV store (call first to check if they have them in stock).  For a list of stores:  http://www22.verizon.com/support/residential/tv/fiostv/general+support/account+issues/questionsone/8...
Presently, the default remotes for new set top boxes are the 2-button P-265 (newer version) remotes.
Regarding a problem with HDMI/optical on Cisco 435 STBs, check out the following:
    Go to this webpage:  http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/TV/FiOSTV/Receivers/Equipment+Issues/QuestionsOne/12839...
Click on the link for 'Cisco CHS 435 HD DVR User Guide'.
Open the PDF and go to page 22 for 'Connecting to a Home Theater System...'.
    Hope this helps!
