BT Infinity from 72.85 MBA/s to 51.31 MBA/s

This is absolute ridicules !!!
I use BT infinity 2 at the beginning I was getting between 65 to 72 MBA/s and the upload around 12 MBA/s,5 Ms latency with a Vigor 2850n... Excellent!!!
After few months I use a Cloud service to backup 25 GB and then start the problem from the day after.
The download speed drop below 50Mb the upload below 8 MBA upload and a latency of 20 ms.
I call BT Infinity support the March 5 and they found a fault (Fault number**********) and he say will be solve in 4 hours. The day after still no improvement and I decide to give more few days to support....
One more call to support and they check the speed with http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/
the notice the problem and the same story... "Please, just give few hours and the problem will be correct".
As usual next day no change same speed  around 50Mb the upload below 10Mb upload,few more days and I made a call to " Support" again explaining the issue.
At first she said my max speed is 60 Mb and the are no faults on the line, but the fault (Fault number:**********) still active and she start playing around when i conform to her from Btwholesale speed test the maximum speed I can get on my line is 76.41 Mbps download with 20 Mbps upload.
3 times I ask to open a complain and every single time she try to divert the conversation to avoid the procedure!
This is absolute ridicules you can not get for what you pay for when is tautly achievable on your line broadband line.
               Regards       Vitto

Though the fault is fixed your connection hasn't been reset, I would advise giving the DLM (Dynamic Line Management) a week or two to try and raise your speeds which it will if your line is stable, if not you could try contacting the moderators.
Restart your router and I believe your IP profile is not the same as the bRAS. The restart of the HOMEHUB should update it...

How can I migrate data from an old MBA to a new one without having access to the screen of the old one? The screen of the old MBA is damaged !

If your "older" MBA has a Thunderbolt port then it isn't that old. See Target Disk Mode about how it's used. Note that without a monitor you won't be able to tell from the screen when it has fully started, and if it succeeded in starting in TDM. If it did, then the hard drive should appear on the Desktop of your new computer. You can then access it to transfer your files. You can even use Migration Assistant or any backup utility to transfer data. Just don't try to transfer system files.

  • Can no longer save documents to iCloud from iMac or MBA

I have been using iCloud to work on documents from my MBA and iMac. All was working fine but now if I save, for example, a Keynote presentation to iCloud from my MBA, it appears in the mobile docements folder on the MBA but when I go to my iMac and look in the Mobile documents folder it does not appear. Have there been soe changes to iCloud as it was all working perfectly before. I am using Lion.

Have you updated to 10.7.3, syncing between the mobile documents folder doesn't seem to be working in this update.

  • Data Recovery from 80 GB MBA Harddrive

    Hi all,
a few days ago I used my MBA as usual and suddently Mail kept saying that there was some problem and then the whole computer was very slow all of a sudden. So I rebooted it. Bad idea. It would not boot anymore. The harddrive made some clicking noises and I couldn't even get it to boot in single user mode. I booted from DVD and ran disk utility a few times which kept saying it could not repair the drive.
So then I bought a ZIF USB adapter to run the harddrive as an external on my old Mac (iBook G4 with Mac OS 10.4). But there the drive doesn't even show up at all. Now I read in this other thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1957930&tstart=0) that Apple might have altered the ZIF interface which would explain that it doesn't show up at all.
Any thoughts on this? I would be grateful for any help!
P.S. The last backup I made two weeks before the thing crashed, that's two weeks of work that only exist on that drive :-S And I know that's kind of naive and that I should have set up Time Machine by now...

I now solved the issue. After waiting for quite a ling time the hard drive showed up after all. I still coudn't get it to mount though. I then purchased DiskWarrior! I first didn't want to because I thought I might pay 100 $ for nothing. But what else was I to do?! And it turns out. It worked! And amazingly good. I couldn't only save all th important data but also restore the whole drive pop it back into the MBA and everything just seems as before the crash! What relief!
I promised myself to buy an external 1 TB drive tomorrow and set up Time Machine immediately But DiskWarrior saved my day!!

  • Transfer from MBP to MBA?

    Hi guys,
I've just replaced by MBP with an MBA & understand that I can transfer data from one to another via Ethernet. Seeing as the MPA doesn't have an Ethernet port, I was wondering on the following:
I will possibly never use an Ethernet - USB or Thunderbolt adaptor again once I have run the update. I also note that the USB units appear to be very poor & tend to fail after a few months of use. On that basis a Thunderbolt - Ethernet adaptor would seem logical. However, both units have a thunderbolt port, can't I just link the two this way to transfer my data?
    Thanks in advance.
    Al.

    Hello Alister,
Its great that both computers have a Thunderbolt port, becuase the Migration Assistant can use just the straight up Thunderbolt port to Migrate the date between the 2 computers.
How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4889.
There are several ways to transfer information from one computer to another with Migration Assistant:
FireWire or ThunderBolt (if your Mac has these ports)
Wireless (Wi-Fi) or Ethernet (if your Mac has an Ethernet port or adapter)
Time Machine backup or other disk
    All the very best,

  • How to move iTunes files from MBP to MBA?

I have an older MPB (mid-2009) and an new MBA (late-2010).  Planning on getting a new MBA after Mountain Lion comes out sometime in July.
That means moving files from the MPB and the MBA over to the new MBA at some point.
In preparation of that I want to get all my iTunes files onto the current MBA.  Trouble is that I have used both the MBP & MBA to import music or videos as well as purchases into iTunes on both.
Without totally screwing things up what is the best way to get iTunes files (purchased or imported) from one Mac to the other without losing or corrupting things?
I already have a problem that there are movies on my iPhone4 that will not remove even though they are not checked when I sync.
How do you join iTunes from 2 Mac's?  Do you have to deauthorise one?
Thanks for any help.  I don't want to get things more confused than they already are.

99% of downloads are from my US iTunes account so those rules should apply.  What I'm wondering now is the comment about only 2 downloads.
The entire process is in advance of a new MBA.  I had thought it would be easier to get things moved from the MPB over to the MBA before I got the new MBA.  Now it seems maybe I should wait it out, get the new MBA then moved things from both the MBP and older MBA over to the new laptop.
Because Apple does changes to machines I have the older MBP with an older external HD that matches its connections. (Things from the MPB include transfers from the old MacBook).  Then I have the MBA with its external HD using a different connection because it only has a USB.
With the new MBA I'll have maybe a completely different external HD because its connections are Thunderbolt.
See where I'm headed with this?
It's the process of getting everything from the old MBP & external, the new MBA & external ... all moved over to the mid-2012 MBA & external.  Included in all of that is a huge amount in information.  Music along is over 400 GB.  Think we all are going to have the same issue as the Mac's upgraade and change.

  • Sync from IPOD to MBA

If I download somthiing in the IPOD Shuffle from office, can I sync to my MBA or Mac Mini (the PPC model)

Generally no. The iPod is designed as a one way device where you can put content onto it but usually not load content from it to your computer (with some exceptions) as this is to prevent easy "sharing" of music.
But, if you have a file you need to move from your work computer to home, you can put the iPod into disk mode and then it will show up as a normal flash disk drive. Assuming you have enough room, you can not put files into the disk part of the shuffle, take it home, plug it in, again it will show up as a drive, then copy the files into your home computer and if the appropriate type, you can add those files to your home iTunes.

  • Migrate account from MBR to MBA not posible!?

I have a MBR 15"  and  my wife a MBA 13". My wife started to use some 3d software so we decided to switch. Of course i had 2 time machine hdd. So i started the migration. First i migrated my wife account from MBA to MBR. Worked fine. But when i inserted my time machine in the MBAir the latest backup is from December 2012. So my time machine from jan to july 2013 aren't displayed in the backups list.
I must mention that the method that i used is command + R when booting, entered in recovery mode and selected the first method: restore from Time machine.
Then i went in mac os and tried the migration Assistant software. Again MBA doesn't find my profile from the MBR in the.
    Anyone tried this !?

    Hi Brent,
If the originating MacBook is using Mail 2.x or Mail 3.x (which has to be the case) then you only need to transplant the com.apple.mail.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences and the Mail folder from Home/Library to replace any that may exist (but probable don't yet) on the iMac. No migration utility needed at all, and Mail will open just where it was on the MacBook, with all accounts and messages present.
The same can be done with the AddressBook folder from Home/Library/Applications Support.

  • Transfer large file from iMac to MBA

I just downloaded Lion to my iMac. Now want to transfer it to MacBook Air before I open it on the iMac. Working from iMac; 4G thumb drive says not enoough room. iDisk not big enough. Tried to transfer via wifi (time capsule) by draging from iMac app folder to the MBA that shows up in the shared label in the side bare and get a message saying ""... can't be moved because Geoffrey Kloster's MacBook Air can't be modified. File sharing is on in both computers.
Tried going other way (working through MBA) but can't get to the iMac. Remote disk shows the remote computer with a note "waiting for disk drive..."
It took 11 hours to download so I'd really like to transfer from one Mac to the other. How can I do it?
    Thanks
    Geoff

Step one is to get a larger flash drive. Since you bought an MBA with limited connection capability—no FireWire or ethernet, your options are limited.

  • Transfer of info from MBP to MBA

    Trying to link new
13" MBA to 2008 17" MBP to transfer files. Not working wirelessly. Suggestions?

    Hi Demwoman.
    I agree with SP F.
I transferred stuff from my mid-2009 MBP using Migration Assistant. It was tricky to get going. It would have been best to do it when given the prompt at first set up, but of course I didn't know that at the time. Just follow the instructions VERY carefully. Read ALL the words.
Once the process is complete, check by searching thoroughly for the files you transerred. (Look through Launch Pad.) I did a cursory look, didn't see what I expected to see, thought the transfer hadn't worked so I did it again. Of course, I ended up with TWO User-thingies. Yes, I'm an idiot. Again - read all the words.
The worst bit was that it took so long - over an hour - all at a time when I wanted to play with my shiny new Air.
    It can be done though.

  • Migration from MBP to MBA: tips on using two machines at once?

    Hi folks,
Seeking wisdome of the community here. I am retirng a long serving MBP-2010, moving over to a new MBA-2013.
For lots of reasons, I'm setting up the new Air manually, rather than use Setup Assistant. I'm planning to continue using the Pro as a media player, at home, for emergency backup. The Air will be my main work device. I'm manually migrating my data, and will reinstall software on the Air selectively, as needed, to minimize some of the messiness that slowed down my old unit.
So here's my question, concen: Are there any concerns, pitfalls, or tricks to using two machines, connected to the same Apple ID, in parallel? Should I uninstall any of the software in the old unit, or disconnect it from my iTunes, or anything else?
Thanks for any reference, advice, or URLs. I searched the boards, but had no luck finding similar queries.
    All the best, Adam

No, you can connect many Macs (and IOS devices) to the same AppleID, in fact for iCloud useage, you have to.

  • Trouble Booting from External Drives - MBA 2012

    Hello,
I have a brand new 13" MBA which I'm working on building an image to use for deployment using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.5. For whatever reason, I can't boot the new 2012 MBA from an external LaCie FW800 or Thunderbolt 1TB Little Big Disk that is running either 10.7.2 or 10.7.4. As soon as I select the drive to boot from when holding the Options key or from selecting the partition from Startup Disk in System Preferences, I get the do not enter icon(circle with the diagonal slash). I tried both plugged in through a Cinema Display and plugging the Thunderbolt drive directly to the laptop. I confirmed both LaCie drives boot properly on an iMac and the last gen MBP/MBA.
    Laptop Specs:
    13"
    1.8GHz Dual-core i5
    8GB
    128 SSD
    10.7.4
Curious if anyone has run into any problems booting from external drives on the new 2012 MBA.
    Thanks,
    Paolo

Please be sure you have prepped these external drives correctly:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
My suggestion for cloning is to use Disk Utility. This will also automatically clone the Recovery HD, as well:
Clone Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue button.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • After migration from MBP to MBA I can no longer add to my iTunes library

I just did what appeared to be a flawless migration from MacBook Pro to MacBook Air. All except for iTunes. I've searched here this site for a solution, tried various fixes, and nothing seems to work so far. Here's what happens:
iTunes works in all respects. All my files are still there, I can still sync to my iPhone, all of that. But if I do anything that requires writing music to the iTunes folders/database (such as adding an MP3 to the library or consolidating the library), I get an error "Attempting to copy to the disk "Macintosh HD" failed. You do not have enough privileges for this operation". I have tried changing the permissions for all of the iTunes music folders, including finally giving read/write access to "everyone". However, this error message refuses to go away.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?!
    Many thanks,
    Howard

  • Installing fontconfig-infinality from AUR

    Hello guys!
It is probably the dumbest question ever, but I'm new to Arch and I am kind of stack here, so please help.
I'm trying to install the infinality fonts on my system, 'cause the default ones look awful for me. According to Font Configuration wiki page I have to install 3 packages: freetype2-infinality, which I've installed without any problems following Arch User Repository wiki page, lib32-freetype2-infinality and fontconfig-infinality. The last two packages I'm not able install, because the command makepkg -S doesn't generate any *.tar.xz file, which I supposed to install with pacman -S command.
Please, give me an advice on how to install these packages.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English.

I've found out about yaourt to update AUR packages.
There are some other helpers you might like even better https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_Helpers
BTW, I use cower, which just downloads the srcpackage tarball (the *src.tar.gz) and unpacks it for you. It also provides some amaingly fast and efficient search functionality, has basic dependency resolution (it can download the srcpackage and any other AUR srcpackages it depends on), and is capable of updates.  On top of all that awesomeness, it is written in C, so it it super snappy, and it maintained by falconindy, who is an Arch dev.
When I get lazy, as we all do, I use meat-git.  Really using meat is actually using cower, but it is just a bash wrapper that also builds the packages for you.  I mostly use it if I have serveral AUR packages that need updating.

  • How to display 2560x1080 on external monitor from MBP or MBA?

Is there any way to make MBP 17 (Intel HD and nVidia GT graphics, SnowLeo) or MBA 13 (Mountain Lion) display 2560x1080 on external monitor (LG 29" ultrawide)? My MacPro with RadeonX1900 card (10.5.8) does it perfectly but I cannot find a way to get the laptops to do it. Tried res. switching apps, still no good. Thanks.

It worked perfect for me. Maybe settings should be different for your laptops. In my case I'm using a MBP 15" with a GeForce 330M.
    The monitor I have is the LG 29EA93 (21:9) @ 2560 x 1080.
Make sure you have exactly same values in Switch Res X. Special attention to "Scan rate".
You can see in the capture below that it's working
and, just in case, here you have the settings that worked for me
It might be also different for each video card...
