BT Infinity HH5 and replace through FritzBox 7270

Hello everybody,
this is my first post, and I´m really hoping, that you guys can help me to get my problem solved.
I really would like to install and configure my FritzBox ("FB") 7270 instead of the HH5, which I brought over from Germany.
But I dont know, why it isnt working.
Here are the facts.
Broadband: Infinity
(There comes a cable from the outside our house into our flat) and ends into a openreach MK3 (little white Box).
From that Box there are two cables:
One for DSL/ Broadband and the other one for landline.
My FB is updatet to the Firmware Fritz!OS 06.05
When Im using the wizard for configuration it asked me for credentials; as I read in several posts before it must be [email protected] and the password has to be blank or just once the space tab, both I have already tried.
Flatrate: yes, ticked.
Then I also ticked the VLAN and entered 101 and VPI 1 and VCI 32
The first step, when my FB ist checking works fine and than I have to confirm by "ok" afterwards its "trying to connecting" again to the internet and thats when all end up in nowhere.
The LED on the FB starts to blink (as it does all the time before) and I know that it hast to lights all the time at DSL/Internet.
It shows that there is no DSL connection.
I really need to get this solved, as I`m want to run a Fritz VOIP as well as I would like to use my mobile when Im at home for landline, etc.
So, at which point I`m wrong? Hopefully it isnt the Router as its self.
Is there anyone who can give me a how to setp & configure the FB.

BT Infinity HH5 and PS4 (FIFA & NHL 15) issues

I cant play either of these brand new games as when the PS is wifi enabled the game 'stutters' very badly, impossible to play. Turn off the wifi on PS4 and game works fine, but then that stops me playing online (which is not why I bought these ). I have tried looking at the hub settings, but being a novice I don't want to mess anything up. I have also moved the PS4 around to other locations in the house with same results.
I hope I have given enough info for someone who is able to help. If anything else required, just let me know

By all accounts if it is on, the PS4 creates its own wifi hotspot, that can affect other connections, as it is designed to connect the PS Vita. It has 3 options, so you could either cycle through these or turn it off completely and see how you get on.

I would never have thought of that. I will have to check my own ps4 to make sure it is disabled. The OP should do the same.

Can I do a find and replace on .cfm files only and not search .html or .txt?

Hi. I'm using Dreamweaver CS4. I would like to do a find and replace through my site with Dreamweaver but I only want it to search through .cfm files. Currently it is searching through .html and .txt files along with .cfm. Is there a way to do a find and replace on just .cfm files?

You can't do it on just one type of file. However, you can do find and replace in selected files. Ctrl-click to select the targeted files in the Files panel, and then choose Selected Files in Site from the Find In drop-down.

No it isn't something you'd find on the computer, it has to be custom installed from the 10.6 installer disc or Software Update if it wasn't before. It allows you to use older PowerPC applications on your Mac. On the other hand double check the version of iTunes you have does not require 10.7 minimum either.

BT Infinity - problems and fed up of being ignored...

Had BT infinity for a good while now and I have to say that when it works its great - get 30 Mbit + D/L speeds.
BUT - ever since it was installed its been a bit unreliable. Drop outs and low speeds unitl I reset everything.
However the last three weeks have been silly.
D/l speeds of 0.25 Mbit ! After a power cycle might go up to 30 or maybe 15 or 10 or 7 for a while then drop out.
I have called BT support about 6 times over this time complaining and while they are very polite they are reading from a script and go through the same things every time.
I have been assured it has been fixed at least 3 times.
Last night it went to 0.25 mb, today it dropped out for 20 minutes.
I called BT again and navigated my way to a call center guy who went through the same things again.
Apparently (this time) there is nothing wrong with the line but the engineering dept will call me tomorrow. I wont hold my breath.
I don't actually seem to be getting anywhere, is there someone I can escalate this to in order to get something DONE.

I don't want to jump to conclusion but assuming it's a wired connection... ie no wireless interference etc.
Is your Openreach Moderm wall mounted or even if it is... is it getting hot?
To me it sounds very similar to other peoples problems where the solution required a visit from Openreach to replace their white Openreach modem.
Keep an eye on your IP profile though as sometimes this gets reduced in the "repair process" and you will then need to request a Profile change/reset back to your original speed. Get IP profile from the ADSL and FTTC speed test button on http://www.speedtester.bt.com/..... via a wired connection.

I wonder if anyone else agrees with my "conclusion"? that I said I wouldn't jump to....

Edit if/when you get the Openreach engineer visit check your IP with the new Modem and if the download speed has dropped to something in the 20Mbs then ask him to action the IP reset... you may be lucky.
Some engineers apparently do help and get on the phone and arange a reset.
Some may say "it's not my job" and you have to contact your ISP... that's when DeanM (Forum Mod) and the crew can help.
I have even heard that turning both the modem and HH3 off for a few minutes that may do a reset.....
I think it would be great if the exchange equipment did automatically monitor/training line and set the broadband up for the best speed and reliability, but it doesn't seem to work very well for IP resets necessary because of this type of modem problem... at the moment.

HH5 and Openreach Optical Network Box

I have just upgraded my Infinity 1 to Infinity 2 and have a new HH5. I have not yet connected it up.
I understand that the HH5 has a built in modem.
The instruction book which came with the HH5 tells me to connect it to my Openreach optical network box.
Is there an advantage to using the HH5 on its own or is it better with the Openreach box, or does it make no difference?
I would prefer a single box solution if possible, for reasons of domestic harmony.
Any advice gratefully received.

the Openreach optical network box is only used on fibre to home not fibre to cabinet if you are on FTTC then the hub 5 replaces the Openreach modem they are different pieces of equipment

Find and Replace Issue Help Requested.

Hi all. I've been digging around for a couple of days and
can't seem to figure this one out. For starters, I have already
looked at the Regular Expression syntax and tried the MS word
clean-up option, but no luck. We have about 1,500 pages of content.
They are in DNN, so the pages are created dynamically.
Unfortunately, the page content was written in Word and then dumped
in DNN. We are trying to clean up the pages. We are grabbing the
content from Dot Net Nuke and putting it into Dreamweaver 8.0.2.
Then we are manually cleaning out things like:
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
and
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"
align=left>
We are using the Find and Replace funtion in Dreamweaver to
clean out these commands, but I know from the documentation, there
is an easier way to clean these pages.
Bottom Line: Since the pages are dynamically built, I know I
have to grab the page content and put it in Dreamweaver manually
and then put it back in DNN, but I am trying to find a way (using
Regular Expressions or something) to look for all the little
variances of MSO, <?XML, etc. in a straight shot. I would like
to find a way to use a wild card to look for all tags that have MSO
or Microsoft or ?XML in them and then replace them with a null
value. From what I can tell, the Find would have to use a wildcard
because the advanced find features don't carry what I am looking
for. Something like Find \<?xml * [<-wildcard] to \> to
grab the entire tag. The Find tag command doesn't work because the
tags I need aren't listed. Also, because the content is dynamic, I
can't do a Fins and Replace against the entire site for these
commands, but it would be nice to "Find" all of these items with a
single pass since the "Replace" value is always null.
The wildcard syntax and multiple Find instances are the main
questions. The wildcards seem to be character or space specific.
Sorry for the long explanation - I just don't want to waste
anyone's time typing responses to things I've already tried to do.

I did,
there are two main sections, as follows:
<\?xml[^>]+>
and
<[^>]+(?=class=Mso)[^>]+>
They are separated by a vertical pipe (|), so they simply act
as
alternatives.
The first one searches for <?xml followed by anything
except a closing
bracket until it reaches the first closing bracket.
The second one is more complex. It begins with this:
<[^>]+
This simply looks for an opening bracket followed by anything
other than
a closing bracket. What makes it more intelligent is the next
bit:
(?=class=Mso)
This does a forward search for "class=Mso". It's then
followed by this
again:
[^>]+>
That finds anything except a closing bracket followed by a
closing bracket.
The bit that you need to experiment with is (?=...). It's
technically
called a "forward lookaround". The effect is that the second
half of the
regex finds <....class=Mso....>.

Find and Replace in RH HTML

After upgrading to RH8, all instances of "em dash" symbols in projects are now appearing incorrectly. When we insert the "em dash" symbol, we always eliminate any spaces before and after the symbol. All projects that have been upgraded to use RH8 now add a space after the symbol, which is incorrect.
I have also installed the RH updates and opened a project that had not been upgraded before the update installs...same problem.
Due to the size of the projects, I have tried using the Find and Replace feature within the HTML view; unfortunately, this did not work.
Has this issue been addressed with Adobe? I ran into a similar issue with the upgrade to RH7, where the HTML coding for em dashes would come through in the design view and final .chm output file. Does anyone know of a Find and Replace feature within RH that will allow me to remove every instance where a space appears after the em dash symbol? I have found the FAR tool but would like to avoid it if possible, as I have read it can corrupt RH files.

There was one other post recently about this but otherwise this problem had gone quiet so I don't know why you are seeing it in a project that was not opened before applying the patches.
So turning to FAR, it is not the program that corrupts files. It is what the user does with it. As we usually say, it can fix a project in minutes and wreck it in seconds. That is because the user has not thought about what the search might find. For example, you might search for "class" thinking about your topic content but of course FAR works a code level so it will remove all your style classes as well. That is where the corruption comes in, not the software itself. It's rather like blaming the car for the crash.
If you back up first, there is nothing to lose.

Does the labview 8.5 project have a search and replace option that appies to all vi's in the project?

In 8.2, the only thing the project has to let you search for a vi is "Find vi's on disk", which is redundant since I can do that in windows explorer. What I want is a way to search for vi's in my application the way the search and replace function works, except I want it to apply to all vi's in a project instead of just the vi's currently loaded in memory. Do we have this in 8.5?

I'll give an example of what I was trying to do yesterday in 8.2. I tried to build a source distribution of a large instrument driver. Since its an instrument driver there is no single top-level vi that contains all vi's - there are different categories of vi's to do different functions on my instrument. When I'm doing the source distribution I have to do it in several stages since 8.2 doesn't do source distributions right - but thats not really what this post is about. Anyway, every time I do the distribution I get an error saying CnvrtArrayIntoBitPattern.vi is password protected (and another engineer wrote it and I don't have the password). So the build fails. Now I don't know the password, I'll find it out later, but I at least want to know where in the hierarchy this vi is even being called. I don't know where it is on disk, I don't know what is calling it, it isn't in the project explicitly, it's a dependency.
If I had a top-level vi that loaded everything, I could just do a search and replace on that vi and find exactly where it is being called in seconds. But since I am in a project and have no idea where to start looking, there is no way I can find this vi. Ideally, in 8.5 there would be a search and replace menu option that searches all vi's in a project to find any calls to this vi. I want to look for all instances of a vi in my project. It sounds like you still can't really do that in 8.5.
What I ended up doing is writing a vi that opens all vi's in a folder hierarchy on disk. I don't know where this vi is, but all vi's in my project are in the same root folder. So I run my program to open every single project vi. Then since I know every single vi is open and loaded simultaneously I used the search and replace function on one of them to find all instances of CnvrtArrayIntoBitPattern.vi. But that is a painstaking process to create a simple search function.
I think NI is maybe misunderstanding how people are actually using a project. Not every vi that is being called is going to be explicitly listed in the project. (Its this same issue that makes source distributions impossible in 8.2 - you can't target dependencies to a support library so every dependency has to be explicitly listed in the project - which is virtually impossible because they are all in different locations and there are hundreds.) Most people have lots of general purpose vi's they use in many different projects, and they are buried down in code so we aren't even sure where they are all being used. The new searches you mention assume you already know where the low-level function is and you are looking for their callers. But sometimes you don't even know where the low level function is. What if its an NI directory function? For example, "resample waveform.vi" is an NI function that changed its defaults in 8.2 which meant we had to find every single place we used it and wire "open-interval?" to a constant instead of depending on the default value. Its in an NI library somewhere and is never listed as a project vi. So when I needed to find every place through every project that I used this vi, I couldn't do it through the project manager because there is no search function. To be practical I add the project-specific vi's to the project, and maybe a couple support directories, but there will always be lots of vi's as dependencies. But every now and then I'm still going to want to search for one of these vi's. So in 8.5 there is there still no way to search for vi's that aren't explicitly listed in the project?

How can i find and replace xml tags?

Hi, i am using xml in my workflow and want to be able to remove certain tags if they contain particular text.
here is an example of my xml structure…
<entry>
    <name>DEFAULT</name>
    <tel>DEFAULT</tel>
    <address>DEFAULT</address>
</entry>
I am using this initial structure to set the paragraph styles to be followed when the xml data is imported.
This leaves DEFAULT in place wherever an entry doesn't have any content for that field.
I want to be able to import my XML then run a script that removes any tags that include DEFAULT, - I need the entire xml tag to be removed not just the text, if i do a normal find and replace it will only remove the text not the tags which is causing problems with styling. I also want to remove the end of para/return (^p) that i've placed at the end of the line. So it would be the same as opening up story editor and removing the content + tags + hard return in there, but i want to automate the process…
So i think this is what i need to search for in each case
"<name>DEFAULT</name>^p"
and i want to replace it with nothing ""
Can this be done through scripting (ideally javascript)?
I have a little knowledge of javascript but am not sure how to search and target that kind of string in indesign...

Script should do it in two steps:
1. find all occurences of i.e. ">DEFAULT<"
2. remove whole paragraph which is a found_text's container.
For example this way -JS - (a textFrame filled with your text should be selected) :

hello,
i just finished implementing a new website. I have about 20
pages and lots of content. Last second, I am told that they need to
change one word with another through out the website. Since there's
so much text content, I was wondering if Dreamweaver has a feature
like the Microsoft Word, in which I could type in that word and
automatically replace it with another - through out the page.

Search and replace string function

Hello, I am using the "search and replace string" function and it does nt seem to work consistently for me. I am using it in a situation where I am taking an array of strings, converting this into a spreadsheet string then deleting all of the commas. Has anyone experienced the same behavior? I have searched through other posts and found other simular faults but none of the fixes worked for this. I can post the code it needed.

I agree that commas are often not desirable, especially if your software should also work in countries where comma is used as a decimal seperator.
Where are the commas coming from? Does (1) each element of the original array have one (or more), do you (2) use comma as seperator if you convert it to a spreadhseet string?
For (1), you might just strip out the comma for each element right in the loop. For case (2) you would simply use a different separator to begin with, of course.
Btw: you are abusing a WHILE loop as a FOR loop, because you have a fixed number of iterations. Please replace it with a FOR loop. If you use a FOR loop, LabVIEW can manage memory much more efficiently, because it can allocate the entire output array before the loop starts. For While loops, the total number of iterations is not known to the compiler. (Of course a real program would also stop the loop if an error occurs. In this case you would need to stay woth the WHILE loop. )
Do you have a simple example how the raw array elements look like. How many commas are there?

BT Infinity Problem and Atrocious Service

Hi everyone, first time poster, registered last week, hope someone can help me.
I've had BT Infinity since it arrived in my area last year, I was previously a very happy BE subscriber, but switched to BT when FTTC came to my area. All has gone well with my connection until a week ago, when it started to become very patchy, to say the least. My setup is as follows:
1) White BT Infinity Modem
2) HH3 plugged into the modem
3) A Netgear 8-port unmanaged switch plugged into the HH3. I did this because of curiously dire performance from the second HH3 ethernet port
4) Family laptops, iPad, iPhones etc use Wifi of various flavours through the HH3
5) My Xbox 360 connects via Cat5e cable to the switch
6) My PC/server/Media Centre connects via Cat5e to the switch
7) My NAS (Synology Cubestation) connects via Cate5e to the switch
All has been well until a week ago, when the Broadband connection became patchy, for both Wifi and ethernet connections. Sometimes the connection would come back by itself, sometimes only when I rebooted the HH3 and modem. This got worse over a day or two, until I had no broadband connection at all.
The timeline from then is as follows:
1) Thursday 3-Nov @ 6:15am - I phone BT Infinity support and report a fault. I confirm an appointment for Friday am, between 8am and 1pm. I login to BT.com and am able to see this appointment. My wife organizes to take the day off from work to attend, unpaid (she's a yoga teacher).
2) Thursday 3-Nov @ 1pm - my wife arrives home to discover that a BT engineer has come and gone, leaving a "coudn't get in" card. Note, this was not a scheduled appointment.
3) Thursday 3-Nov 2pm - I phone BT Support, and they confirm that an engineer will attend the following day, as planned. I'm worried there may be a problem with this, because of the unplanned visit. They have no explanation for the earlier unplanned visit. They tell me they have spoken to "BT Wholesale", and they confirm the Friday visit is still on. I login to BT.com and still see the planned appointment, by also see another appointment added for 11:39am that day, a record of the unannounced visit.
4) Friday 4-Nov 10am - I call BT Support and they call BT Wholesale who confirm my visit for that morning is still going to happen. I login to BT.com and verify the appointment.
5) Friday 4-Nov 1.30pm - I call BT India to report that no engineer attended the appointment. They have no explanation for this, except to apologise, and suggest it may have been some confusion with the engineer. They make another appointment for Saturday 5-Nov, also 8am to 1pm. I login to BT.com and am able to see the appointment. I arrange to take Saturday morning off work, unpaid (I'm a contractor).
6) Saturday 5-Nov 10am - I call BT Support and they call BT Wholesale who confirm my visit for that morning is still going to happen. I login to BT.com and verify the appointment.
7) Saturday 4-Nov 1.15pm - I call BT Support to report that no engineer attended the appointment. They give me a lovely apology, and tell me that "BT Wholesale" cancelled the appointment. They cannot tell me why I didn't receive a notification, or why they couldn't tell me this earlier. They make another appointment for Monday 7-Nov, also 8am to 1pm. I login to BT.com and am able to see the appointment. My wife arranges to take a second day off work, unpaid.
8) Monday 7-Nov 10am - I call BT Support and they call BT Wholesale who confirm my visit for that morning is still going to happen. I login to BT.com and verify the appointment.
9) Monday 7-Nov 13:30 - No BT engineer attended this morning. This is the third missing appointment in a row.
I have a few questions:
a) Is this normal and acceptable BT service?
b) What do I need to do to get an engineer to my house?
c) How do I get my broadband working again?
d) How do I escalate the whole affair to someone who can do more than just apologise?

My "Download IP Profile for your line is -38717 Kbps"
Therefore Max download speed I could achieve is 38Mbps
My "Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 2000 Kbps"
And my Max upload speed is 2Mbps
Artificially capped/reduced due to the Infinity Option 1 that I have. My line checker estimates upload capability of 11Mbps)

If you haven't run the BT speedtester before and therefore do not have your IP profile... perhaps you have some speed test results from other sites that you can compare.
