BT infinity HomeHub 5 flashing orange / new custom...

I had sky broadband until this morning when I was switched over to the apparently super-fast bt infinity up to 37mbps. Sold to me by a very keen salesman who didn't want me to leave BT.
At 12:30pm I received a delightful text telling me my new super fast infinity package was up and running. As I watched my happy fully working sky broadband box turn orange and go offline I plugged in my new HomeHub 5 (yes bt, I plugged the mains socket into the "mains" socket and the "DSL" into the "dsl") although I love the fact your tech team ask those questions!
I watched in anticipation as the home hub fired up but then started flashing orange, a quick look in the manual and there was nothing about flashing orange lights, there's plenty about the other colours of the rainbow but nothing about the power light flashing orange. So I called BT... "Turn the unit on and off again" I was told by BT tech, wow guys... genius, it's not like I'd thought of that but I did it again anyhow. Still a flashing orange light.
I was then told to wait a few hours which I did and again all I got was an orange flashing power light. I called BT tech again who once again said... "Turn the unit on and off again" these tech guys in India really know how to fix stuff things. Still an orange flashing light. I was then told to wait until midnight and it should be working.
Ok, so I work from home in media and need the internet to communicate, deliver & receive files, sometimes large files like video & audio. I have to make sure this is up and running by the morning or my job is going to go very wrong tomorrow. I stayed up till midnight and tried it again..... And of course the HomeHub just sits there, goes through it's power up cycle then flashes orange repeatedly (for over an hour). I called bt tech again and guess what "turn the unit off and on again" sigh.
As a result I will be calling 0800 800150 tomorrow cancelling this non eventful package and asking for a full refund and my PAK code.
Thanks BT, I won't be coming back.

Problems setting up my TC. Have just bought new iMac(OS 10.6.8) and  TC. I tried to set it up. iMac cannot find it. I have tried direct connection with an ethernet cable to Mac or direct to my wireless router but nothing. Just a flashing orange light. Help for a simpleton please. Have tried reseting TC, but to no avail.

Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?
    Hmm, ideas anyone?

  • Homehub 3 keeps flashing orange/red/purple then go...

    Hi,
Severak days ago I made a post regarding the above issue however my connection has not remained stable enough to post a reply and work has also kept me buys. Today I woke up to find the internet working again however when I did starting browsing again it has been continually going from stable to flashing orange/purple/red then back to stable blue. I have tried restarting, switiching the power off for 30 minutes and even tried connecting directly to the Homehub via ethernet cable.
I would really appreciate if if someone could help me resolve the issue. Also last week I starting using a powerline adapter. Has this got anything to do with the issues I am currently facing?

not just switching off  - you need to try the reset recessed button probably on the back of the hub.  just beacuse phone works doen't mean filter is ok - they don't last forever

  • Bt infinity home hub flashing orange

Last night we had a power cut and since then my power light on the hub is just flashing orange, I've tried turning it on and off, pressing restart and turning on and off atplug yet it just flashes orange. Any ideas?

Are the lights synching on the openreach box (white one)?. If they are you should synch on the HH3, if not there is an issue with your line. Is anything unplugged or wire come lose on the master socket?. Have a good check at all the equipment.
Please click on pink star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. Thank you. Home Hub Page- http://bthomehub.home/

  • The Flashing Orange Power Light Of Doom! [HH3]

I've had no internet service for a week now, on Infinity 2 with HH3.
All lights on the white modem are green, the hub won't even start, just goes to a steady orange, then after about 15 seconds, a continuously flashing orange power light, and stays there.  The other lights are dark.  Power cycle doesn't work, holding down the reset button doesn't even reset it.
After lengthy "troubleshooting" on the phone with India, I received a replacement HH3 yesterday, plugged it all in and got all blue lights for all of 3 seconds and then - wham - reset to flashing orange light, which now stays there no matter what I do.  The issue was escalated to "Tier 1 support" by India yesterday, but heard nothing.
No service problems reported in my area according to the BT website, but India seemed adamant that it was a network issue (after being adamant that it was a faulty hub earlier in the week...).
This is getting very frustrating now, anyone have any idea what could be causing this ??!   I really just want an engineer to come out but India wouldn't arrange that.

It should be quite easy to prove by bypassing the hub and connecting the modem to the PC, then setting up a broadband PPPOE connection.
Here's some instructions provided by Rygg
try a direct connection to the modem. This will rule out your homehub and internal wiring as the fault.
1: Remove the homehub from the modem
2: Connect your pc/laptop into the modem using LAN1 port
3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network
4: Connect to the Internet (the top option) then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE
5: Username [email protected] and the password as anything you want
6: connect, if it cannot connect, just keep pressing try again if this happens and it will eventually connect.

  • £130 new customer installation fee???

I have just signed up for bt infinity option 1 and was given a start date of 27th August, my new phone line worked fine but i couldn't connect to the internet, the next day i completed all the troubleshooting but still with no joy so i decided to phone the help line, after they did all the line checks they then told me an engineer will need to visit the house to fix the issue.
so i am a new customer and i am going without internet for 6 days because an engineer failed to install it properly. My wife phoned bt this morning and she has just been told we will be charged £130 for the engineer to visit.
what the hell is going on, this is ridiculous as i have already paid £30 installation fee.
    please help!!

You don't have to install a new splitter faceplate (though it is probably the better solution), you can just use micro-filters in the same way as for ADSL broadband. They should have sent some micro-filters with the HomeHub. The HomeHub set up guide covers this. You only need to use one or the other.
If the engineer does visit then I think he will normally install a BT Openreach NTE5a master socket and BT Openreach MK2 interstitial plate if not already present. You can find them on Amazon if you want to see what they look like. In this case the micro-filters are no longer required with the HomeHub connected directly to the broadband master socket.

  • HH5 Flashing Orange

Hey all just after a little help with my new hh5
Just moved into my new house and had infinity installed which came with the HH5. Installed on Tuesday (19th november) and it was running perfectly with high speeds but yesterday and today is has been dropping constantly, at least once every 10 minutes, its gone down 3 times since ive been writing this message . I get the flashing orange light and occasionally the red flashing broadband light appears, but not often.
Checked all the connections but doesnt seem to have made any difference.
I was told that due to a new install i could have some drops for a few days, is that true?
    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks

can you hear any noise when using the phone try dialling 17070 option 2 you should hear no noise if you can please post back

  • Airport Extreme Flashing Orange Light - No Base Stn ID

Here is a huge problem I hope someone can help solve.
AE working fine for over a year. Hooked up new HD to it, got a requester asking for answers on this device. Clicked something (now I cannot for the life of me remember what).
Now no matter what I do the AE only goes to a flashing orange light, after power off/on, after power on reset, after power off reset, no Base Station ID found on any scan, have powered off/on the DSL modem.
No matter what is tried it always comes back to a flashing orange light and no way of accessing the base station to start over again.
Temporarily on a hard cable to make contact here. No hints in the manual, nothing more I can find on line for troubleshooting this.
How can I access and reset the base station so it is recognized??
This seems rather severe for one requester selection and now nothing!
    Thanks in advance
    Geoff

Finally some joy on this issue!!
Here is my workaround (or solution).
On the Western Digital HD there was a .pdf buried on it with the real hint. That is the HD comes preformatted in FAT32.
So first I connected it directly to the Mac rather than the Airport Base Station. This allows it to be seen on the desktop AND read by Disk Utility. It also allowed it to be read by Time Machine. However I chose to reformat it in Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Then the Time Machine initial backup was done through the Mac. When completed I plugged the HD back into the Base Station, went to Finder/Go/Connect To Server using the smb://10.0.1.1 address. Voila, The icon is back on the desktop and readable by Time Machine
I suspect this all could have been done without backing up through the Mac first. Just happened that is the way I did it.
The Key seems to be to reformat the HD to other than FAT32 for the Airport end of things. Seems to me that was the problem I had when I was backing up both PC and Mac to one HD. FAT32 as I recall will not work that way.
So a solution that works. May require the HD on Base Station to be mounted each time you power up. Minor inconvenience once you are going though.
    Cheers
    Geoff

  • Power Adapter flashes orange light and won't power on.

I woke up this morning to find that my power adapter's light is off and it is still plugged into the surge protector.
    1. When I push the button on the bottom, I get all 4 lights saying that it is charged.
    2. When I plug the laptop with another adapter, I get a constant flashing orange light from the power adapter. Mine will flash orange several times and then go black. It's like it's trying to communicate something to me but I don't understand its language!!
    3. I have tried resetting the computer, that didn't work.
    4. I have tried powering up without the battery in the machine, that didn't work.
Any ideas out there?? I'm thinking that I need a new logic board but I also haven't backed up my info. Any assistance on either of these issues?

I found out that someone had spilt chicken soup on my laptop and it pretty much destroyed the logic board, optical drive, processor and other technical stuff.
    *heavy sigh*

  • Problem with a Dell Monitor - stopped working yesterday, just a flashing orange light. Monitor or Mac Mini issue?

I've been using an old Dell monitor with my Mac Mini ever since I got it, however yesterday evening my monitor stopped working - however I'm not sure whether the issue is with the monitor or the Mac Mini. It just doesn't seem to respond when I try to bring the Mac Mini out of sleep. I can hear that the Mini is responding to the keyboard - I hear the right noise for pressing return on the password box without entering anything.
I've made sure all the cables are plugged in properly (power & connection to the Mini), but all I'm getting is a flashing orange light on the monitor.
I don't have anything else to test the monitor on, nor do I have access to another monitor to plug into the Mac Mini - I only have an old iBook G4, so don't have the right adaptors to plug the VGA from the monitor into that.
So before I run out and buy a new monitor, what is the best way to determine where the problem lies.

Hi, I've actually never had any issues waking this monitor from sleep, this is the first time that it has been unresponsive and I've had it for years - probably over 10! (E151FP) so probably overdue for replacement.
To be honest I'd rather not just switch the Mini off unless it's a last resort given that other than the lack of a picture everything else seems to be working ok - still hearing all the normal noises of Skype, Mail and TimeMachine etc.

I was checking another thing, usually the switches we use here in my work supports a maximum of 14W per port or 15.4w, this wap is consuming 15.2w
    Is this the problem??
the strange to me is that,in this same sw I have several WAP and they all use 12.2w
The device type in sw for WAP usually appears as LAP1131AG-AIR-E-K9 ... but this WAP appears as Ieee PD ...
What problems do you think is it?

  • Flashing orange lights between steady blue

    Hey guys!!
I've had BT broadband for 18 months and never had any problems. BT home hub 2.0
This morning, my internet was dropping (flashing orange lights on braodband and phone icons on the hub). I rang BT and they informed me there was an issue in my area and it would be fixed in a few hours.
I never fully lost service...it just kept dropping out and flashing the broadband and phone icons orange and then reconnecting again and going to blue.
I rebooted my router at the time they said, 4pm. At this time, the service status website said the problem had been fixed and so did the person I spoke to on the phone.
Now its 730 and im still having the same problems. My lights are all blue, and then every 20-30mins or so the broadband and phone lights will flash orange for 20 seconds and then finally go back blue. Sometimes I have to reboot the router to get them back to blue.
Is this just because there has been a recent problem and the router is just settling down again and getting the best speed back? Or something else?!
    Thanks

The orange flashing light only happens when a resync happens and the speed can go up or down.

  • New customer - major installation delay - do I bot...

    Hi!!
Realllyyyy not happy! Wanted to move my custom to BT but not sure if I will bother now!
Submitted an order for telephone and Infinity broadband on Saturday and in my initial information, I was informed that the router etc. would be delivered next Monday.  I thought 'okay, small delay but no worries'!
I then get an email this evening informing us that our activation date will be on the 5th December 2012?!!! What?!!!!!
I really need an internet connection for work purposes, etc. so I called up to speak to someone to hopefully get this rectified - I thought surely this can't be right?! So the first person I spoke to ("John") I found extremely rude and patronizing and had an attitude of 'well thats it, tough, it would be the same wherever you went'! I got rather irate and asked if I could be put through to someone who would treat me in a manner which wasn't as though I was someone very small and insignificant.  I asked why there is not something on their website explaining that there is an extensive delay on activations on the BT website (you know, something like some companies have on there when there is disruption to deliveries due to bad weather or something) and he said that he did not know whether there was.  I assured him that there is not and said surely he knows the content of the website of the company for whom he works and he said 'no'.  John said that the activation date couldn't be changed and he would speak to someone about us having Wifi through the Openzone until connection.
Was put through to someone who was most unhelpful.  When I asked what on earth all this meant he asked if his colleague had not explained and I said that they hadn't - he said this was 'most unusual'.  He tried to go through something with me but I could not find a connection for BT Openzone so he has given me another number to call.  Having looked into the BT Openzone thing, I suspect it is because there is not a strong enough connection nearby.  We are wanting to join BT as we are moving home so I typed in our new postcode as well which appears to be even worse so the BT Openzone access is going to be next to useless!!  I then asked to be put back through to the cancellations department.
I spoke to someone called 'Charlotte' who was very helpful - unlike her colleagues - and I explained my frustrations.  As a new customer, this is not a very good start! Charlotte admitted that there have been problems since the summer and whilst new engineers have been hired to help clear the backlog but they have only just gone into training! As we were talking, she realised that new customers coming to BT in the next couple of weeks would probably not get an activation date until after Christmas! Charlotte thought it would be a very good idea to have something on the BT website and admitted that a number of customers have already been lost.
So, my question is what is going to be done to help me or should I take my custom elsewhere?! Not impressed at all!!!!

    Hi Keith,
I think we will be in a 3G area but looking at the internet on my phone is not the same as being able to use it on an iPad or laptop ( Especially when trying to research things!
I actually use a Zoom 3G wifi unit, which allows you to plug in a standard 3G dongle, and it then creates is own wifi network, so that many computers can connect, including your Ipad.
    Zoom 4506
I have two 3G dongles, one for BT mobile broadband, and one for the 3 mobile network, which has much better 3G coverage, and allows you to topup for just a day if you need it.
Very useful when away from home, of if you lose your Internet connection
Anyway, its just a thought, while you wait your turn.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

    Hello,
I bought a new iPod shuffle some days ago.
I read on the manual that attaching iPod on a high powered USB port it have to start to recharge showing a still orange led.

I have not selected tu use it as pen-drive so I don't know why I still get flashing orange lend instead a still orange led.
    my iPod is broken ?
    thanks to all

I received an ipod shuffle for Christmas and am having the same problem. When I try to eject it (from either itunes or from "Safely Remove hardware" on Windows, i am told that there is another application trying to use the hardware with similar messages to those above.
It even manages to freeze my computer on Shut Down and on Startup if i leave it connected, and only when I disconnect it does the computer start.
i too would appreciate any help in resolving this.

  • Sky Hub keeps disconnecting... please help? New customer...

Hello there, I am a new customer to Sky only joining last month, and  my broadband hub keeps disconnecting. I use wifi which is normally good, but the last week or so, every day our hub shows an Orange face, which I know sometimes means it's updating, so I leave it for one hour or more,  and it still does  not show white and we cannot connect to wifi. We have to restart the modem everytime for it to work, and have to keep doing this every day now... please help? As i dont think we should have to keep restarting our hub everyday for it to work. Many thanks,Hayley

That might well be one of the most ridiculous posts I've seen on here.
If you want help then provide us with more information including your router statistics, the exact issue/issues your having along with what Sky have so far done to try to rectify them.
