BT Infinity Package installation a joke. 6 weeks ...

Anyone reading this deciding if you should go with BT, SKY or Virgin, I strongly recommend after my experience NOT to choose BT.
So, I placed my order online, 6 weeks ago, like all good con men, the front end to extract the cash was very efficient.   Then the tale of woe starts.  I don't think I am alone with such issues on connection, in fact I'm actually amazed that any BT customer has managed to successfully get their broadband service up and running.  I feel really sorry for all the BT staff in India and Northern Ireland, on email, chat and by phone who have taken my call, all of whom have had virtually no tools or power to get my issues sorted out.
Over the past 15 years, I have moved house a few times, and have had both Virgin and Sky at these properties, the connections to these services have been seemless, one visit installations, a few days after ordering.  My new property is listed, hence Sky is out as I can't have a dish on the house, and cable is yet to reach this area.  So unfortunately, I have only been able to rely on BT, who have successfully sent me back in the 1990's with no broadband for the past 6 or 7 weeks.
The tale.
6 weeks ago, order placed online.
Initial disappointment that the engineer could only come out two weeks after the order to install.  OK, I'll be patient, only two weeks, and I have loads of boxes to unpack in the new house etc, so who needs broadband and TV?
The first technician (I'm not going to call them engineer, as they don't have recognised Engineering degree)  turns up (BT Open Reach).  The technician is incompetant, he thinks the broadband extender system that uses the mains network to transmit the broadband signal is no longer allowd to be used by his BT bosses.  Therefoere, he wants to run a cable across the house, however, he scopes out the installation, and as running a cable is more than a 10 minute dish bash bosh job, decides to leave without installing it, after giving my Wife, who had to take a day off work, a load of excuses.  He does, to his credit spot that the phone line that goes back to the telegraph pole outside our house is not connected at the top of the telegraph pole.  Unfortunately, he does not do what he said he would do and make a note in his system that the connection on the telegraph pole needs reconnecting.
So, 3 days later, BT in India call and arrange another appointment for another 2 weeks time, so 4 and a half weeks after order.  By this point, the house is unpacked, old DVDs all watched, and work  now suffering as no Broadband to catch up on stuff in the evenings.
I also manage to craftly get through to someone at BT in the UK, by pretending I'm placing a new order.  I check out the rubbish about the broadband extender, I speak to two different people who both say that new broadband extender was released in Feb, especially for infinity.  I pay £30, and one duly arrives in the post 2 days later.
4.5 weeks after order, the second technician arrives (Kelly Contracting Services).  Friday 1st August, another day taken off work, this time by me.  This guy knows his stuff, but unfortunately is handstrung by BT's archaic work card system.  As mentioned above, crucially the 1st Technician has 'forgot' to put the note on the file that the line needs connecting at the telegraph pole.  He does say that he used to work for Virgin, and it just used to be a quick call to his boss to ammend the job card, but he can't do that with BT as there systems don't allow for job card modification after issue.  I convince the guy to fit all he can, despite his instructions to be to do the full job or nothing.  So twenty mins later, I am all set up in the house, with a new plate on the phone point, the extender stuff, hub and TV box are sorted.  The middle bit to the telegraph pole is not done, however I am connected now at the exchange, as the guy went down there and sorted that.   I try bribing him with £20 to go up the pole, but as his company will never get the money off BT for the job, he can't do this.  I am now cursing myself I didn't make it £250, atleast now I'd have my service in.
I then.......call india, asking for a BT Open Reach Technician to come and do the last bit, just the connect on the telegraph pole!  I speak to two people.  Out of interest I ask them if they know what a telegraph pole is, they do not.  Oh dear.
Also on this Friday afternoon, I use the chat function on the BT website to talk to a BT employee in Northern Ireland, who says she'll do everything she can to get a technician round asap, she even calls me to explain.  All the time I realise she is hampered by the BT to BT Open Reach poor interface.
Then the next week, on the Thursday, 6 days later, I get a text AND an email to tell me a Technician can come today, 13th August.  7 Weeks after I first placed the order!  I go on chat to see if I can get a quicker appoinment, no joy, however the BT employee does tell me she sympathises with my problem as she too had a difficult installation.  Oh the irony.
So today, I work from home in the afternoon, boss not happy, but I need to get this sorted.  I wait the whole afternoon and no one shows up.  I call BT, in India, and after 30 minutes they tell me it was booked, but then a 'system error' meant that the appointment didn't get through to the technician. So I get a text and an email, re-arrange my life and take a day off work, but getting the message through to thier BT employee was just too much for the system.  Just out of interest, I ask him if he can tell me what a telegraph pole is, (this is a BT employee).  Nope.
The next appointment they can urgently get me, after this sorry tale, is Thursday 21st August, in 8 days time.  My wife is now going to take a morning off work.  A note has gone on the job card that the job must be done before midday, as my wife has an important meeting in the afternoon, the appointment slot is 0800-1300.  I can almost see into the future to anticipate what is going to happen next week.................
I feel really sorry for the BT employees, they must just be bombarded with compliant, after complaint and angry cutomers.  They just don't have the tools at their disposal to sort things out.   I wonder how many compliants BBC Watchdog gets over BT Infinity, it must be in the thousands a day?
So, 7 weeks after my order, I now have to wait another week before the next sorry attempt will be made.

So guess what.........The sorry story continues, after 4th Engineer visit a complete waste of time as no-one had told the Engineer he needed to go up the telegraph pole to connect us.
I am soo disappointed with BT Infinity’s professionalism, once again.
I highlighted in a voicemail, and by email, that the biggest risk was that the BT Openreach (Actually Kelly’s contractors) Engineer would arrive and not have it on the job card that the telegraph pole needed to be worked on.  Guess what, this is exactly what happened.
This is despite:
On 1st August the Kelly’s Engineer added it to the Engineers notes that someone needed to go up the telegraph pole.
On 1st August, I spoke to the BT call centre in India, that someone needed to go up a telegraph pole.
On 1st August, I spoke to someone on BT chat, and then spoke to the same person to say all that was needed was someone to go up the telegraph pole.
On 2nd August, I spoke to someone in India when the BT Openreach appointment that was  missed on 13th August, saying someone needed to go up the telegraph pole.
When the appointment was missed on 13th August, I spoke to someone in India, saying I needed a new appointment and some to go up the pole to connect me.
On 13th August, I spoke to someone on chat, asking for someone to go up the telegraph pole to connect me.
On 14th August, I rang specially to check that the Engineer had on his notes that he needed to go up the telegraph pole.  I spoke to a very helpful woman in Sunderland, and waited on the phone half an hour until she had actually had the conversation with BT Open reach to confirm someone needed to go up the pole.
I then get escalated to yourself, and on 18th August, point out some needs to go up the pole and connect me.
So imagine my surprise, after telling BT on 8 (yes, eight) separate occasions that someone needed to go up the pole and connect me, that the Engineer turns up, and DOES NOT KNOW HE NEEDS TO GO UP THE POLE TO CONNECT ME!
With BT’s system (not BT Openreach) working as poorly as this, please give me one reason why I shouldn’t cancel BT Infinity, which as of today I am now paying for, invoice BT for mine and my wife’s time, and go with Sky?  I might as well go with Sky as I suspect I am now at the bottom of the queue and will have to wait another 2 weeks for another BT Openreach Engineer to come along, or miss the appointment, only to not have the correct job card to do the work.  Then I will wait another 2 weeks for the same thing to happen again.    I might as well go to Sky, wait the two weeks, and then get the job done properly.

  • Windows 7 64bits Installing Internet Explorer 11 ERROR Neutral package installation failed

    Hi,
The laptop is running Windows 7 64bits with Internet Explorer 10 and the Windows automatic updates is turned on. The problem happens when the Windows keeps installing the Internet Explorer 11 every time between shutdown process. So I decided to download
IE11 offline installation and try to install from it but the problem doesn't solve, the installation still does not complete. I have tried to delete all files in the Windows temp folder and IE temp folder already but the problem still exist.

Unfortunately, since then others have quickly stuck a pin in this balloon, finding that it is just one more bump in the road, but at least working around this coding error should change your symptom.
    Good luck

    Thank you very much.
I have tried to create a symbolic link as suggested on a forum but the problem still cannot be solved. The error message from IE11_main.log file is exactly the same as before.

  • Package installation error!

    Hello!
I'm new to arch, so i downloaded the base-install cd from your page.
I set up everything (building a partition table, setting the mountpoints), but as I tried to install die packages I got the following error:
    Cannot resolv depencies for "bash":
"readline" is not in the package set
    Package installation failed.
I don't know what's wrong, some other arch-user couldn't help me too, so I ask here.
    please help me.
    regards
    riddler

    Hi,
We hope your issue has been resolved, if you've found solution by yourself. We would appreciate it if you could share with us and we will mark it as answer.
I am looking to your log find that it's trying to launch DISM from c:\windows\SysNative. You might try build a symbolic link from c:\windows\system32 (where DISM lives) to the non-existent path c:\windows\SysNative. Then check the issue again.
To build a symbolic link, try workaround as Brian's reply to this thread.

  • Automate USER BASED PACKAGE installations in SCCM 2012

    Hi All,
I want to automate the installation of software(in my case a user based package) from the Application Catalog.
Here is just some general information:
    1. All software(Applications and Packages) deployed to Device Colllections will be published in Software Center
    2. All software(Applications and Packages) deployed to User Based Collections will be published in the Application Catalog
    3. Once software has been deployed from the Application Catalog, it is also available/visible in Software Centre .. this could be confusing for (scripted) test purposes!
To Automate installations i tested the following (Powershell) methods:
Methode 1 - Install Device Based Packages (This works)
    $SoftwareCenter = New-Object -ComObject UIResource.UIResourceMgr
    # to show applications
    $Application = $SoftwareCenter.GetAvailableApplications() | where {$_.name -like $APPNAME}
    # to install an application
    $SoftwareCenter.ExecuteProgram($Application.id, $Application.PackageId, $true)
(once an User Based Package has been installed from the Application Catalog, it will be shown in the results of this method .. but initially it don't!!)
Method 2 - Install Device based Applications (This works)
    Invoke-WmiMethod -Namespace root\ccm\clientsdk -Class CCM_Application -Name Install -ArgumentList 0,"xxAPP scope IDxx",$True,$False,1,1
Method 3 - Install User based Applications
    Invoke-WmiMethod -Namespace root\ccm\clientsdk -Class CCM_Application -Name Install -ArgumentList 0,"xxAPP scope IDxx",$False,$False,1,1
(once an User Based Application has been installed from the Application Catalog, this method can be used .. but initially it can't!!)
Method 4 - Install User Based Packages (NOT WORKING)
This solution is based on an (scripted) installation from the Application Catalog. Information can be found on the following sites:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2012/09/19/extending-the-application-catalog-in-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx
    http://allthingsconfigmgr.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/application-catalog-uncovered/#more-284
You can see the usable operations/methodes, by using the following URL in your SCCM 2012 environment:
    http://YOURSITE/CMApplicationCatalog/ApplicationViewService.asmx
The method i tried for an installation part is 'installapplication', see example below:
    $service.Installapplication($appid, $deviceid, $null)
This syntax is correct because it's giving a result that indicates the my command was correct(when i change the variables it produces an error), but that's it ... no application is installed.
For the record: the operations/methods 'RequestApplicationForUser and GetApplications' are working fine.
There is also log file 'ServicePortalWebService.log' on the Application Catalog Server in
C:\Program Files\SMS_CCM\CMApplicationCatalogSvc\Logs, where i can see that Installation call is (correctly) be done.
    To be short:
Is there anybody who can tell me how to automate (with Powershell) an USER BASED PACKAGE installation?
    With kind regards,
    Hayo Veenstra

    Thanks for your reaction.
What i want is creating shortcuts in the startmenu of a user, that initiates a SCCM software installation. We also use this method for our SCCM 2007 environment by initating advertisments. I do not want a required user deployments, because when that user
logs on on another machine (for a short time) .. all his/her software will be deployed. So i do not want to install unnescessary software .. only what a user initiates.
    Do you have other suggestions?
I'm not sure about the shortcuts.  But, as for required deployments to users installing on all machines they log onto:  Not if you have User Device Affinity running for you.  You can set a requirement in the application to only install on a user's
primary device.  Another option that we often deploy is to use App-V to deploy a virtual version of that app if the device they logged onto is not their primary.  When they log off, it goes away.  This is all done using User Device Affinity.
    This is new in 2012.

  • Enhancement Package Installation option missing in MOPZ

    Hello gurus,
We´re faccing with a problem with maintenance optimizer procedure.
I have an ECC 6.0 system installed with SPS16 and now we need to upgrade it to Eph4.
When I go to Solution Manager 7.0 Ehp1 (SPS22) to transaction mopz and create a new transaction, in step 2 "Select Files" on "Calculate download files automatically" window, normally two options appear "Maintenance" and "Enhancement Package Installation", but only shows "Maintenance" option. So, for our goal we need the option "Enhancement Package Installation"!
I already read the snotes 1122966 and 1139493 I take in count the prerequisites for enhancement package option in SMSY.
Another question, this problem may be related to any matter of contract, restrictions on our own contract with SAP?...
Can you help us to solve this problem?
    Best regards,
    João Dimas - Portugal

Hello frmshyam and all of others,
We already know whats happen... we contacted SAP people and they inform us that is a kind of limitation of the contract agreed by our company and SAP!
Inclusively we can check that when we try to download some ERP system DVD media directly from marketplace, we don´t see anything, we only see the media DVD´s of solution manager system.
    Thanks anyway for your help.
    Best regards,

  • Enhancement Package Installation option missing

    Hi,
I've installed the latest suport package stack in a SAP ERP 6.0 system, and now I need to upgrade it to Eph4.
When I go to mopz and create a new transaction, in step 2 "Select Files" on "Calculate download files automatically" window, normally two options appear "Maintenace" and " Enhancement Package Installation", but now None appear!!!
I've confirmed that product version is correct, ERP 6.0 not ECC 6.0. I've also installed the latest ST (SAPKITL429).
    Can you help please

My SSM User is associated with the client S-user in AISUSER. And that S-user has full athorization in the marketplace, is the Super Admin. I Have an RFC for each client, because my SSM is for VARs, so is configured in an multiclient way.
I can download, files using mopz, but only manually, because no option appear in the automatic window.
I think is something with the latest SPs, but I've aplient all recent notes, after SP19 and nothing.. oss message is already open, I'll give feedback.
    Thanks anyway.

  • "Enhancement Package Installation" option is missing for CRM 7.0/NW 7.1

    Hi Expert,
I am trying to install EHP1 on CRM 7.0/NW 7.1. Following the installation guide, I updated the solution manager to SP stack 24, and use MOPZ to download the software packages. But when I create a new MOPZ transaction, there is only "Maintenance" option for the product of CRM, the "Enhancement Package Installation" option is missing. The Maintenance Optimizer works well for other products, such as Netweaver and ERP 6.0.
Can someone help me? Do I need to apply some notes?
    Thanks,
    Min

    Hello,
It looks like either your company has not enrolled for the Ramp Up of CRM 7 EHP1.
If your company is indeed in the Ramp Up, please check in SCPR20 if these BC sets are activated in the listed sequence:

If one of them has no activation logs or if the date and time of the third one is earlier than the first in the list, then the Maintenance Optimizer BC sets need to be reactivated.

We don't know the cause, but this problem was affecting all the desktop machines at work (notebooks were ok...). So there goes a solution: when the message appears don't hit the ok button, search your temp folder. There should be a "sfx8C.tmp" directory. Run the installer.jar from there.

  • AM zip installer and Portal package installer

    Hello,
I have installed Sun Application Server 8.2 ( using JES update 1). Now I need to install AM and Portal to a cluster to enable HA. My question is could I use AM zip installer for the installation but use the JES (package) installer for Portal. These are on Solaris 10 boxes.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Slak

I'm not sure but I think you need at least Application Server 9.1 for Portal Server 7.2 (http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2053/gedjt?l=en&a=view&q=portal+server+7.2+requirements). In my setup I had to use Application Server 9.1 but I don't rembmber the exact reason.
