BT Infinity speeds not reaching the quoted through...

Hi, I'm after some collective advice (and maybe even some help) on my BT Inifinity connection.
Firstly the facts:
I live roughly 682m (in a straight line)/1.3km by road from the local exchange.
My BT INFINITY Cabinet is roughly 0.48km on foot (possibly twice the distance when taking the copper cable length into account).
On ADSL 8mb: IP Profile of 7mb with a throughput of 6.95mb maxed with Hub 2 sync'd at 8mb.
On ADSL 2+ 20mb: IP Profile of 17mb with a throughput of 16.5mb ish with Hub 2 sync'd at 19mb (BT Quoted me 13mb on the broadband checker)
(I Know ADSL is a whole different kettle of fish compared to Infinity, it's merely an example of how well my line copes with broadband)
On 20/09/11 I had BT Infinity installed. The Engineer didn't tell me what speeds to expect but I knew from the conservative BT Infinity checker i should get at least 32.7mb (DOWN). My upload is maxing out at just over 8mb (quoted at 6.6mb by BT). I showed the engineer a speed test i did then and there with him in the room - the results are as shown: (35.8mb Down and 8.14mb Up)
http://speedtest.net/result/1492182858.png
I was chuffed, even more so when it rose by the end of the day topping out at just over 36mb with the same upload speed. http://speedtest.net/result/1492351342.png
3 Days later my connection dropped and my throughput was showing as 32mb. I put this down to the DLM as i was still in the 10 day training period. But since then it hasnt changed and my IP Profile has been set at 33mb. On day 11 i power-cycled the modem and then the home hub but still no luck. 32mb is by no means nothing to be snuffed at but it seems speedtest.net is showing my speed wrong as i found out when running a test on BT Speed Test which showed me my Ip Profile of 33mb, but only acheiving a throughput of 30mb! So much for the "Your download speed should be: 32.7Mb".
So, i don't know if my initial higher speeds where my true speeds given that my line is very stable or if what i'm getting now is the best i can get and i got my hopes up for thinking i could still get much better than what BT quote me.

Update:
Short Version: There was a 10v surge on my line that was causing my connection to be unstable.

Long Version (Probably TL;DR so i apologise in advance):
Last friday I accidentally yanked the power lead out of the vDSL modem while trying to replace a dodgy Ethernet cable on my wife's PC - The Home Hub 3 is on top of her desk with the OR modem mounted on the wall above it.
As quick as i could i plugged the power back in, and it proved to be a godsend. My dsl light would flash, go dim and it would do it a few times before going solid green for about 10 seconds and then it would repeat. After a while I phoned Technical Support, who diligently read from their script and got me to check all the cables including the RJ11 from the modem to the phone socket - all while the dsl light was doing it's thing. It was irking me cause i had already gone to the trouble of diagnosing the cables and i knew it had to be one of two things; Either my line or the OR Modem. I perservered with the Inidan lady I was speaking to (She was being nice to i'll give her that) before she ran out of tricks and escalated my case to BT Wholesale and would contact me in 1-2 days to see if my connection was working.
Annoyed that she was about as much use as a silent movie to stevie wonder, i went back to trying to get my modem to connect which only got worse when the hub wouldn't recognise the modem being connected. The broadband light would come on as a steady orange after a failed connect attempt, but no PPPoE activation. I thought "great now my hub has gone up the tube".
Eventually after 7hrs i had enough, i unplugged both the hub and modem and took a five minute breather. I then started with the vDSL Modem, plugged in the RJ11 lead and plugged the power back in and low and behold, after a few tries the dsl connected. I gave it a minute just in case my modem was giving me false hopes. After seeing it had successfully connected i then plugged in the Hub and let it cycle through to the orange broadband light at which point i connected the infinity cable and got it all working again. I had reconnected at 30Mb/8Mb and thought the nightmare was over.
Next day (Saturday Morning), my modem had dropped to 22Mb/8Mb with an IP Profile of 24Mb and figured this was normal seeing as i spent 7hrs without any connection. I held my tongue and put up with it for the rest of the day.
Sunday Morning my modem had dropped again and  reconnected at 20Mb/8Mb with an IP Profile of 22Mb... i was not happy and i still hadnt heard back from BT. Fortunately i got a call from BT Wholesale who then asked me what the problem was (an Indian guy this time - do we not have UK Call Centers anymore???) and so i told him, and through his thick accent i manage to discern that he had booked me an Engineer for the next day (yesterday).
Engineer turns up - A quiet Indian guy who asked me what was up and told him, and while he listened he acted like he just wanted to get done and go. So i left him to it. Credit where credit is due - he did a line test (both socket and test socket) and didn't find anything wrong and said he would go the cabinet and have a look see. It turns out there was a fault with my line but he was almost done for the day and passed it onto another engineer who was actually quite chatty, polite and a joy to talk to. He knew what was wrong and confirmed it with me, plugged a test device in to the phone socket and shot off to do his thing. 10 minutes lates he comes back and does the line speed test with his gadget (i have no idea what its called). While talking to him to he showed me what the gadet was doing and showed that my line is capable of 44Mb/15Mb - lolled. He told me i can get the full 40/10 but i didnt hold my breath. He told me what he was doing next and what would happen every step of the way. he rang me to tell me my IP Profile had been reset and it did right as i was talking to him - he was even curious as to what i would get. He told me it would take a while for my speed to increase and happy as pig in smelly stuff i thanked him whole heartedly and waited as i was still stuck at 22Mb but i had a ping of 21 on speedtest.net... i new my connection was vastly improved. Pingtest showed a ping of 18!.
Today (tueday) still working and as i found out the hub 3 has this problem of not updating the speed. I had to go into the settings and "disconnect" the home hub but NOT the modem and reconnect and low and behold fast internet again. 37.5Mb/8.2Mb with a download speed of a steady 4.4mb/sec topping out at 4.5Mb on occasion and spiking sometimes at 4.7Mb/Sec.

  • Skinned scrollbar thumb does not reach the bottom of the track

I have an application in Flex 4.1 where there is a vertical List, bound to an array. As long as the List scrollbar is not skinned, everything is ok, the thumb oscillates from top to bottom of the track. But after adding a skin it works bad. The thumb never goes to the very bottom of the track when scrolling, but locks somewhere in between. For very long list of elements, it even stops halfway.
Despite of this behavior, the list is in fact scrolled to the last element - so the problem is not with some elements at the bottom of the list being unreachable, but it is only about the thumb not reaching the bottom of the track, which looks as if the list was locked halfway. The skin is very simple and it is just about defining an image for the track and thumb. Is there any method to ensure that the thumb always goes to the bottom of the track, regardless list size?

I have 3 skins: for the scrollbar itself, for the track and for the thumb.Thumb and track skins are using fxg vector images, but exactly the same negative result is without fxg images, e.g. only using simple filled rectangles in place of the fxg - I just checked it.

Why does my image not reach the edges of the page when printed, but appears fine as pdf?

Check a printable area of your printer.
Make a (grey) rectangle that is larger than the paper size. Print it,
you'll get a message that some cropping will occur, that's okay. Then take a
ruler and measure the dimensions of the rectangle printed on the paper or
the white borders around the printed rectangle.

Do a Select all on your pages (Most likely a master page if it effects all pages) and you will likely find an empty element or element that extends past the design edges in your desktop design.

  • Please note that the quote/cart has already been placed as an order and cannot be modified.

    Hi All,
Currently we are trying to create an istore order and while doing so when we add an item to the cart, the shopping cart throws the error "please note that the quote/cart has already been placed as an order and cannot be modified". This is happening with a particular user alone. We had created an order earlier and this got converted from quote to order. Now when we created a new one this error is appearing. Also  there are no records in the table IBE_ACTIVE_QUOTES_ALL for that user for any active carts.  Please provide the suggestions. I have cleared the cache bounced the istore server and logged out and logged in and still the issue is existing.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Please confirm there is no active cart
    Confirm data in ibe_active_quotes_all
    SQL>select active_quote_id, order_header_id, quote_header_id
    from ibe_active_quotes_all
    where party_id = &partyid
    and cust_account_id = &cust_id;
    To get values -
    select customer_id from fnd_user where user_name = <iStore username >    ==> value 1
    select person_party_id from fnd_user where user_name = <iStore username>
    select object_id from hz_relationship where subject_id = <above person_party_id>
    select cust_account_id from hz_cust_accounts where party_id =<above object_id>   ==> value 2
Confirm data is in synch in the Quoting table aso_quote_headers_all :
    SQL> select order_id from aso_quote_headers_all
    where quote_header_id = &from above;
If an active cart is found you can delete -
    delete from ibe_active_quotes_all where party_id = <value 1> and cust_account_id = <value 2> and record_type= 'CART';
    >> this will remove the active cart of the user, hence you can proceed with next cart.

    Hello Santhi
The GC messages you see are just an indication of the garbage collector activity. It is not an error.
I'm not sure about what you are doing with the Developer Studio. I guess your WAS Java is already installed, is it right? Are you able to start the visual administrator? Please, paste here the exact error you receive.

  • I can not access the switch through the console (solved)

    Hello,
    I'm having a problem.
I can not access the switch through the console. The web interface is working properly.
    Model: SRW224g4
    Below some pictures.
    The HyperTerminal settings
    error:
    If anyone can help me?
Thank you and excuse the bad English.

    Hello Rumenigue,
It looks to me like you are using a console cable.  The reason you usually see them the other way around is because with a console cable the RJ-45 end goes into the device (an ethernet jack labeled console) whereas on this switch the console port is serial itself.
Usually the serial end of the cable you have plugs into a USB to serial adapter (because most computers today don't have serial ports anymore) and that USB connection goes into your PC, creating the virtual COM port you need in HyperTerminal.
So if you get a USB to Serial adapter you could plug that from USB to the console port, or if you computer has a serial port of its own just connect a serial cable directly from the PC to the switch, then use HyperTerminal with the settings recommended above by Tom.
    Hope I have helped,

If you mean that the screen does not respond to your touch or you forgot you passcode. place the iPod in recovery mode and than connect it to your syncing computer and restore the iPod via iTunes.  For recovery mode see:

If you purchased about 2 years ago new I am sure it is a Intel iMac. To find out what type of iMac you have just click on the Apple menu item in the finder and select about this Mac. I would check the ISP mail site and get the correct outgoing mail server info.

The phone number and SIM is irrelevant if you get 4G or not.
The phone hardware is what is relevant.

  • Infinity speed not like it was - halved

Hi, when I had Infinity installed, probably over 6 months ago now, I was delighted with speeds of 8mb or above. Not a lot, but it was enough to stream movies on our TV, so ideal for us. (It's not true cable to our house, but it's cable half way (or something))
However, since then I began to notice BBC iPlayer began to buffer more and more often, until it was virtually useless and then we were unable to stream movies at all; unable to get past the first few minutes without it buffering and continuing to buffer. This was nothing like the service we'd had originally and we'd paid for streaming rental movies but had been unable to watch them.
Our speed check went down to 4.5mb on average. I expected it to go back up again at some point but it never has and now I feel something should be done. From an average 8mb down to an average 4.5mb really isn't great. I may as well not have Inifinity at all.
    Can anybody help?
    Thank you.
    Pip.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
I've just done the BT speedtest with results below:

Yes it's 4.5 mega bits per second we've been getting on average and we originally had about 8mbps (mega bits per second)
Our desktop connection (which I use for these speed tests) is wired.
We're using the Home Hub 3.
we're quoted 21mbps but we've never had that and didn't expect that.

  • Infinity speeds not what BT promised in contract

    BT,
13 months ago I signed up to Infinity and then upgraded to Infinity2 earlier this year. My contract letter from BT advised I should be able to download at 29Mbps and for most of this year that has been the case. Often it exceeded that as can be seen from the attached graph. I appreciate it's not using the official BT test but I have used that and the results are identical. You can see the highest speed was 38.59Mbps. Impressive!
As you can see there has been a substantial drop in speed in recent weeks. I have performed tests via both Ethernet enabled PCs and wireless 'n' laptops and the results are identical. I haver also run tests at 6pm and 11.30pm with no difference so busy times are not a factor. I have performed a power down on the router but the low download speeds persist.
Is this a problem only BT can fix and if so how do I go about getting it fixed? Can it be done via these pages or is a phone call necessary?

resets are the worse thing you can do as the DLM will see the line as unstable and reduce your IP Profile to stabilise the line you now need to leave the modem powered up 24/7 with no restarts for at least the next 2 weeks to give the DLM to see the the line as stable and then your IP Profile should start rising again

  • The Downloaded PDF file does not contain the Signature through BSP pages

    HI,
We have an requirement for Distributing the FORM 16 to all Employee's through our Website, where the user will login and download his own FORM 16 ( TDS Certificate)
This FORM 16 ( TDS Certificate ) is generated in SAP ( ECC 6.0 ) in Payroll Module.
To satisfy the above requirement we have done the following steps.
    1) First we have modified the standards SAP Sapscript(Layout) to incorporate the Signature of Authorised Payroll Person.
We have done this by uploading the BMP file ( though t-code SE78 ) and then calling this file in the Standards layout which prints the FORM 16 document.
    2) WE also Modifed the Dirver program to Download the above document in a .PDF  file.
The Program creates the seperate file for each employee and assigns the employee number as a file name to each downloaded file. These all files are downloaded on a Users Machine.
We opened the Downloaded .PDF files, and checked for the Signatures. The Signature were comming perfect as it ws uploaded.
    3) We uploaded these all FORM 16 PDF file off all emlpoyee's to a different SERVER ( BW 7.0 ). With the help of BASIS person, using the FTP utility.
    4) We wrote a BSP program to download this ulploaded PDF Files.
BUT we are facing a PROBLEM in the DOWNLOADED PDF file.
The Downloaded file does not contain the Signature which is there is the Original file we uploded this server.
All other data in the dowloaded PDF file is Perfect other than the Signature.
When we open the downlaoded PDF file it give's following  message on the Signautre page.
" Xobject not found named 00013"
The number of the Object comes different to different files.
We are using Function module 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING' to Convert string to Xstring
