Bt Mail - Yahoo FAIL

yeah once again !!!! Nuff said. claps hands at the brilliant service Bt provide- Keep up the good work (sarcasm)

These days, I just go straight to http://mail.yahoo.com/ to log in to web mail.  There seems little point in faffing about going through BT's web site.

  • Cannot send email through yahoo on iPad 4, apple.smtp.mail.yahoo not available as of December 1, 2012

I am unable to send emails through yahoo on my ipad 4 wifi, just starting over the weekend. My 3 other non-yahoo email accounts are working fine on my ipad. When I try to send an email from the yahoo account, I receive the message that the connection to the outgoing mail server "apple.smtp.mail.yahoo" failed. I can send email through yahoo just fine on the web and on my computer through Thunderbird.

Yahoo's been having persistently random issues for months. You can try just waiting it out, or delete and readd your yahoo account. When my accounts were affected I just used webmail to access my yahoo accounts until it cleared up.
Chances are it's all on their end and really all you can do is wait it out.

  • I can't connect to my Yahoo calendar, getting error, the server responded with an error, the request for account Yahoo failed, the server responded with 502 to operation, caldavaccountrefreshqueable operation

I was connected to my Yahoo mail using ical but kept getting the error message.  I deleted my Yahoo profile from ical and then added it again.  Now all my entries in my Calendar are gone and I am still getting the error message.

I am tired of how Yahoo has gotten worse and worse. It is the ONLY account I get problems with DAILY (even after removing and re-adding). AOL will act up once in a while not taking a saved password but accepting it when OK is clicked.... But Yahoo is always responding with such errors.... Today's calendar error is:
The request (CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation) for account “Yahoo” failed.

Incoming Mail server failed message recieved when I try to retrieve mail

I did retore the ipod to factory settings, I believe that the information was correct. I even deleted the account and re-entered. when it verifies This message comes up
    The IMAP Server
"apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field.
I can not even find the Incoming Mail Server.

You don't need iDVD unless you are going to make DVDs. If you are just trying to share files, iDVD won't help you at all.
What you want to do is in iMovie, choose File/Share/File, and export that way. It creates an .mp4 file that should be readable on Macs or Windows.
You could also File/Share/YouTube if you don't mind posting them to YouTube, because of course YouTube videos are watchable by any Mac or Windows computer made in the last 10 years.

  • Mail & Yahoo: how can I get "Sent" folder to synch, like the "Inbox"?

Happy to be back in Mac, after 15yrs of corporate MS boredom. And TIA for your help with my little 'set-up' problem.
I'd like that my "Sent" mailbox (in Mail.app) mimic the functionality of my "Inbox" mailbox, as relates to my Yahoo!Plus email account. What do I mean? My Inbox associated with my Yahoo account, i.e. in the Mail sidebar under the higher-level Inbox mailbox, contains every email that was in my Inbox on the Yahoo server (and still is, since I chose not to "Remove a copy from the server after retrieving a message, in Mail>Prefs>Accts>Advanced pane).
But the "Sent" mailbox associated with my Yahoo account only contains the messages I send from the Mail application (clearly only when I choose to use the Yahoo account). Also, none of these messages appear in the Sent folder on the Yahoo server, i.e. when I go to the Yahoo site via a web browser, which I'll do when not carrying the Mac with me.
Otherwise, setting up Mail to work with Yahoo was a breeze. N.B. I pay the $20/yr fee for the Mail Plus account/service, so didn't get stuck with the "pay to play" issue that many others have when trying to set up their free Yahoo acct w/Mail.
I recall having this "Sent" folder functionality when I was using Outlook a couple of years ago, hence the answer to 'why would this guy have been paying $20 a year...?'. And I don't/won't go there on my Mac!
    Thanks, again, for any help.
    MBP 15" Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Necessity being the Mother of invention, I built a crude work-around and fixed half of the problem. I'd still be interested to hear if any of you have 'solved' the other half.
First half fix: On the mail.yahoo.com site, go to the Sent folders and select all of the messages there. Then, in the header, click on the "Move..." button and then select the "Inbox" as the destination. (N.B. This can not be undone; You can move messages from the Inbox to other folders, but not to your Sent folder. Go figure.) The next time you synch (or "Get Mail") from the Mac's Mail app, these "sent" messages will appear in your Inbox. Sort the Inbox by sender and move the messages sent by you to your "Sent" mailbox folder.
Now you've got a complete history of emails, both sent and received, on your Mac.
Second problem not fixed: Messages sent from the Mail app do not appear in the "Sent" folder on mail.yahoo website. So while your Inbox is synchronized between your Mac and your yahoo! account, your Sent items are not.
I was hoping that synching my Mac Mail with .Mac would allow me to see my sent messages remotely, from any internet browser. But at first blush, that dog don't hunt.
Any advice - short of a wholesale move to my @mac.com email - would be appreciated greatly. Even if the advice is "give up the ghost; can't be done; give up the yahoo email"!
    Cheers.

  • For the 1st time I am trying to send an iPhoto by email but get an error message "combinations of username and password not recognised" I use the same details to log on to my Sky Mail (yahoo mail ) account . Any ideas?

For the 1st time I am trying to send an iphoto by e-mail but get the error message " combination of username and password not recognised  by the server" I use Sky Mail ( yahoo mail) and input the same username and password that I access Sky Mail - have retried many times. Predictably the Sky help desk have no idea. Can anyone help please?

I regret that you're having trouble setting up your email, corbad! You're on the right track with your incoming email address. You might also try incoming.verizon.net or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net as possible alternatives, and 995 as the port number. Please let me know how that goes!

  • To send a mail for failed login attempts,.

We have to implement the mailing system in linux.,to send the mail regarding failed login attempts and ip address of user who attempted the failed login.,any one have the idea on this?
    Regards.,
    Vaaru

Running an old beta version of RHEL is a bad idea. If you are concerned about security and operation of your OS I suggest to use a more recent release version. You can download, install and use Oracle Linux for free.
Mail processing of failed login attempts is not a good idea and to my knowledge there is no such built-in system setting. I suggest you read the standard documentation or search the Web for information on how to set up a mail system. You will probably need to create a custom script to process failed login attempts.

  • Mail & Yahoo Mail Sending problems

Hello all, I have finally admitted defeat. I have been using Apple Mail to pick up my Yahoo Mail for a long time without any issues. Suddenly it has decided to not send emails...and I have no idea why.
I got the settings off of Yahoo's site. The pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk settings work but it seems that the smtp settings are the ones creating the issues. Currently they are smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk / server port 465 / SSL checked and authenicating with a password. I have used the connection doctor and it says that both incoming and outgoing connections are good.
Anyway, after trawling through the forums on Yahoo and here I have tried deleting all prefs, re-inputting all of the above information. No joy. I have tried changing the port to 587. No joy. I have tried turning off SSL and switching to port 110. No juice.
I have tried the same settings in Entourage but that doesn't work either. So, I am now throwing myself at these boards to see if someone - anyone - has a solution that doesn't require a stamp and an envelope.
Man, I can build and rig straight down the pipe but I can't send an email! Hummph.

    Hi
I too am having problems sending email from my Yahoo accounts. I contacted Yahoo support and they sent me this to try.
    1. Launch the "Terminal" application located in the "Applications:
    Utilities" folder.
    2. At the text prompt, type "telnet pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk 110" and press
the "Enter/Return" key. If you're successful, you should now see "+OK
hello from popgate." If you don't see this, close the window and start
over or check your Internet or network connection to make sure you're
    logged on.
    3. From this screen, type "user xxx" (where xxx is your Yahoo! ID) and
press "Enter/Return." You should be prompted with "+OK password
    required."
    4. Type "pass yyy" (where yyy is your case-sensitive password) and press
"Enter/Return." If this is successful, you should receive a prompt with
"+OK maildrop ready," followed by mailbox details. If this was not
successful, you'll receive "-ERR Error logging in. Please visit
    http://ymailuk.com/."
    5. Type "quit" and press "Enter" to sign off the POP server.
    6. Type "exit" and press "Enter" to return to Windows.
If you weren't able to get the POP authentication during the first try,
please wait a few minutes and try again. After several tries, you should
be able to tell if your ID and password will allow you to achieve POP
    authentication.
Next, check if you are able to communicate with the Yahoo! Mail Plus
    SMTP server. Here's how:
    1. Launch the "Terminal" application located in the "OS X Applications:
    Utilities" folder.
    2. At the text prompt, type "telnet smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk 25" and press
the "Enter/Return" key. If the port is not blocked, you should receive a
response similar to "220 smtpxxx.mail.yahoo.co.uk ESMTP" (where "xxx" is
the server number you connected to). If you don't receive this specific
response or if you get a different response, your ISP, networking
equipment, or security software may be blocking or scanning outgoing
    mail servers.
NOTE: Please also try port 587 in place of 25. It's important that you
try the alternate port, as some ISPs will block port 25 by default.
Though it does mention Mail Plus in the instructions and I don't have MailPlus I was able to connect using port 587 to the SMTP Server.

  • Mail upgrade failed: osx lion

I have a Macbook pro 17 intel dual core.
I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion and I have encountered the following problem.
Mail begins the importing of messages and once the import is complete it moves to the migrating data step
    "MAIL UPGRADE FAILED"
An error occured during the upgrade. Click continue to launch the Mail Import Assistant, which will help you create a new library and import your existing messages"
When I click "Continue", the following message appears
Your Mail index has been damaged. To repair it, quit Mail.
Mail will repair the index the next time you open Mail. Your mailboxes and messages will be preserved.
But of course, Mail doesn't repair itself the next time it is opened....this just continues to happen.
Any help? I have read threads that suggesting deleting Mail preferences can help. Interestingly, I can't find mail preferences in the library folder

I fixed my issue, though it took hours of trial and error.
First, check Console (Applications/Utilities/Console) and click on All Messages in the left sidebar.   I had a message about permission denied to copy a file during the upgrade.  I manually moved that file to the desktop.  After that the message migration finished, and Mail launched.  Hurray I thought!  But on reboot, Mail would not launch.  It just hung.  This time there weren't any helpful messages in Console to be found.
I read over these threads for the tips:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3189986?start=0&tstart=0
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15666804#15666804
As best I can remember (it's been a long night), this was my process:
    (Force) Quit Mail
    Navigate to userI/Library/Mail folder
Move the entire Mail folder elsewhere, like your desktop
Launch Mail.  At this point it should be be prompting you for info.
If you don't have anything on your machine only, just put in your info and download everything from your server from scratch.  You're done!   If however you have my problem with 164,000 messages stored locally, read on…
    Quit Mail
Back in user/Library there's a new Mail folder.
One by one, move the items from the old Mail folder to the new one and launch Mail.  Make sure to move the user/library/mail/v2/maildata/accounts.plist first so it stops prompting you for account info.  Make sure to quit Mail between every file move.  If you don't see a v2 folder, or a v2-temp folder, it means the migration hasn't happened yet.  Just keep moving things over until it does, cause the migration changes the directory structure of the Mail folder.
At the point you move your old archived messages over, the next Launch Apple will import and migrate all the messages.  This can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 45 depending on how many messages it needs to cull through.
I ended up moving everything but the RSS folder items back, and Mail is once again stable.
At some point I also booted into Lion Recovery partition (hold Command + R at boot) and ran Disk Utility to repair permissions.  However I don't believe that actually helped.
    Good Luck!
