BT Mighty Mouse 10.4.8 MacBook

I've seen some archived threads on this but still no resolution -
Often, I'll use my 'right-click' capabilities on my MM. Left-click, scroll ball (and its click) and the side buttons all work, just not 'Secondary Button'. Battery is shown as fine and I have it registered as a Favorite.
This doesn't seem to happen with any rhyme or reason. It'll be fine and then suddenly lose it, coming out of sleep it will work/sometimes not.
The only 'sure' way seems to be to delete it from Bluetooth and then have the Bluetooth Assistant 'find' and set it up again.
This is exceedingly boring. Any solutions anyone is aware of - short of throwing the MM at a some speed at a Genius and acknowledging it may just be a piece of cr*p?

Well, a resolution (of sorts) on this issue.
Finding that he right-click (and sometimes general connectivity) continued to be a problem, I scheduled a visit yesterday with a Genius at the Apple Store I bought it at.
As luck would have it, when he brought my MacBook out of sleep, it could not find the MM. He did what usually ended up doing it that event (removing it from BT, then letting the BT Assistant 'find' it again) and was able to use all the clicks on the MM. I did explain it was intermittent however, even before we opened the MacBook...
But then he rebooted the MacBook and while it found the MM and he was able to right-click, he lost control over tracking. His opinion - the MM was buggered. Of he went to speak to his superiors - he came back and explained that as the store didn't have any BT MM in stock (to replace it with), this would have to become an AppleCare issue. So though I was sitting at the Genius Bar in an Apple store, I would have to call AppleCare personally to arrange a replacement. Let's just say disbelief crossed my face....
He filed a report online for them (and for this he needed my MacBook's serial number, not the MM's) and I then called Applecare. After working my way down thru the phone tree, I got to clerk who put me on hold twice for some time, nly to eventually come back and take down my mailing info for he MM switch. Then she wanted my credit card.
"Sorry?", I said. Well, they'd courier me a new MM, but wanted my credit card to ensure I returned the broken one. They sell a duff product, and then want my credit card to fix the problem in warranty? Told her that wasn't going to happen and suggested hat she send the MM to the Apple Store, where I would do the switch. No way, as far as Apple Care clerk was concerned ("Call back Monday and speak to Customer Service") so I hung up and asked to speak to the store's manager.
Explained the situation and he, to his credit, asked what I would like to do. At this point I was a little ****** off at the process, so I said a refund (this more than a month after purchase) and he agreed.
So, I'm back to the trackpad and stupid keystroke/clicks.
And my opinion of Apple, the quality of their equipment and, most especially, AppleCare has been tainted - again.
Didn't buy into AppleCare when I first bought the MacBook - thinking I'd have a year to make that call - and it seems that I may not now at this stage. I would think nothing of sending my computer to a repair facility (properly insured, of course), but if Apple wants my credit card to fulfill warranty work, forget it.

Mighty Mouse and Trackpad on Macbook

Hi,
I was used to automatically disconnect my trackpad when my Mighty Mouse connects to the Macbook by BT. And for this there was a checkbox in preferences (under mouse option) that was able to do it.
After upgrade to 10.6, this option was gone!!! Now I have both devices working at the same time: Mouse and Trackpad.
Any ideas how to disconnect the Trackpad when and external mouse is detected in 10.6?!

You can set the computer to ignore the trackpad while you’re typing or when you have a mouse connected. This option is available on some portable computers only.
To make your trackpad inactive:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Trackpad.

Mighty mouse install on a macbook

Do I need a usb mouse and keyboard to set up my new mighty mouse?
I only have the keyboard and track pad that is built in.

check out some of the options with the mighty mouse once its installed, like setting up the right click button. coming from a PC user this was one of the coolest features about the mouse for me.

Wireless Mighty Mouse works fine on MacBook, not on MB Pro w/bootcamp

I recently swapped my Bootcamp-partitioned hard drive from an older Core Duo MacBook to a late-2007 Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. I had no problem using the wireless mouse with the MacBook. I'd click on the Windows desktop once it booted up and it worked flawlessly.
But on the newer MacBook Pro it won't stay connected. I have to pair it with the Windows Bluetooth control panel each time I log in.
I'm not sure if this is connected to the issue or not, but I'm not able to use the trackpad and buttons on the MacBook Pro keyboard either.
I've seached the discussions without any success. Advice anyone?

in regards to the mouse, it's possible that when you are booting from OS X to windows, because the mouse is already plugged into the computer, that once you load windows it does not recognize that the mouse is linked to the computer. If you ahven't already, I would try unplugging your mouse when you are switching to windows and then plugging it back in once it has loaded. I've had that happen with a non-wireless mouse before and that helped it.

Hey there, I'm on the forums because I can't get my wireless mouse to connect to my new MacBook Pro either (just got it yesterday). Bluetooth Device Manager seems to "see" it when it searches, but insists it can't connect to it, saying either "device not found" (which is ridiculous, since it's right up there in the list) or "cannot find the necessary services." Yet I cannot find anything definitive on the tubes to say that the two don't work together. Anyone else have any ideas for us??
I should mention I changed the batteries b/c at first I thought that's all it was. When it didn't work I brought it to a 2009 MacBook Pro, and that one connected no problem ::shaking head::

Mighty Mouse Bluetooth Connectivity

Hi,
I have a wireless Mighty Mouse and a new MacBook. If I turn on my mighty mouse first, then turn on my MacBook, the mouse works fine, but if I forget to turn on my mighy mouse until after I have already turned on my MacBook, it will not connect automatically!!??
When I had a Windows PC, I had a wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech. Even if I turned on my PC first, then turned on my mouse or keyboard, it would automatically start working, but now I am using my Mac, unless I turn on my mighty mouse first, my Mac will not find it. Why is this and is this normal??
I have just purchased a wireless Apple keyboard, I have not used it yet, but will the same thing happen with this also??

I was wondering, you use a wireless mighty mouse as well. I have now own 2 mighty mouse, my current wireless one and a wired one I had with my old Windows PC before I switched.
I am having great difficulty using the right click, which you are supposed to be able to do with the mighty mouse instead of control clicking to get the contextual menu up. If I do use the right click, it very rarely works, if it does work, I am amazed, but I can never repeat it!!!
I have to resort to control clicking with the mouse to get the contextual menu to appear, which sort of misses the point of having the mighty mouse in the first place!!! If this was the first time it had happened, I would say it was a problem with my mouse, but this is the second mighty mouse I have had and the same thing happened with my first one.
I tried changing the mouse settings to see if the mouse hardware works correctly. I went into the keyboard and mouse system preferences and switched the primary and secondary mouse buttons over so it was configured for a left handed person. The left click and right click actions then worked perfectly, but when I put the mouse back to the standard configuration, so the primary click was the left mouse button and the secondary cllick was the right, the right mouse button stopped working when I wanted to right click something!!
Why does the right click work when I have it set as the primary button, but not work when I have it set as the secondary button? Do you or anyone else have any ideas? Does this happen to you too? Is this a well known problem?

Wireless Mighty Mouse - Bluetooth Auto Login?

It is a little pity: whenever i forget to switch on my wireless mighty mouse before starting my macbook i have to go through the bluetooth settings and manually search for the mighty mouse.
isn't it possible to configure the bluetooth settings for my mighty mouse that it automatically logs in whenever it is switched on?
someone might say: why switching the mouse off. i thought it would help the environment by saving batteries. but actually a apple care representative told me you can set the wireless mighty mouse to go in a sleep modus automatically and thus leave it on all the time (so the laser pointer 'window' on the backside is always open). however i couldn't find to set a mouse sleeping mode in the mighty mouse system settings.

Can (mighty) mouse buttons work w/Lion?

My wired USB Apple Mouse (aka Mighty Mouse) worked fine with 10.5.8 - Sys Pref / Mouse let me assign functions to the left, right, top/scroll, and side buttons. I just upgraded to 10.6.8 and immediately to 10.7.5 Lion, and although the Sys Pref / Mouse window provides similar settings to 10.5.8, three of the five functions don't work.
The Left button is ok, and the Scroll ball (on top) scrolls ok. But the Right button acts just like the Left button, and the Top ball/button push and the Side buttons push don't do anything at all. Thankfully, there are no bizarre problems like the cursor leaping around, and I can hit Control - Left (Primary) button and get the Right (Secondary) button action.
I like my old Mighty Mouse and hope I don't have to get a newer / aftermarket one. Any help will be appreciated.

They took note that the wired mighty mouse worked with my Macbook air running Lion 10.7.4, that my Wacom pen and tablet could be programmed to right click on my Macpro running 10.7.5 from the App store but seemed stuck on the requirement for a clean install even though I related clean installs from this discussion forum have not worked.
Out of curiousity I tried the USB Overdrive shareware:

My wired USB mighty mouse now works with Lion as it did with Snow Leopard, again to me this points to the release of Lion on the app store.
I am going to write the Apple support case handler again and let her know, I have not heard back from them since November 1, hopefully they are working on the problem.

Apple Mighty Mouse not staying connected through Bluetooth

I just purchased the Apple Mighty Mouse with my new MacBook Pro. The next day when I come back to the notebook and start up, it does not have the mouse connected. It can see it, but does not automatically connect to it. Does it matter that sometimes I leave the mouse at home and use the notebook. I come back home and I expect that it should know to automatically connect to it when I turn the mouse back on. Sometimes I leave the mouse on without turning it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Mighty Mouse buttons work intermittently

My Mightly Mouse's buttons now work only intermittently. Is this possibly a software issue or is it time to replace this 5 year old mouse?

BT Mighty Mouse

Couple of mice questions:
1) So who's gonna get the BT Mighty Mouse?
2) What are people's experience with bluetooth mice anyways? Good or bad?
3) I was considering the MS Laser Mouse 6000....until this came out. I plan to run Win XP (bootcamp) as well. Just wondering, since Windows requires a right click button wouldn't it make sense to get a mouse with it? Do Mac mice (like the new Mighty Mouse) have any way of right clicking?

my bluetooth mighty mouse pairs with my macbook but the cursor barely moves, tons of lag on slowest and fastest settings - clearly a problem. the problem also exists on the windows xp side of the macbook - very strange.
my original bluetooth apple mouse works fine with the macbook and the bluetooth mighty mouse works great on a friend's intel imac!
i installed the new apple mouse software on both intel machines - if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem, please chime in!
if it's a driver problem, i hope apple posts an update soon. i was looking forward to messing around with the new mouse tonight, back to the regular wireless mouse for now...

Two mighty mouses, one macbook pro.

I have a wireless mighty mouse for home. Sometimes lately when I take my macbook pro somewhere, I noticed I have forgotten my mouse. So, I splurged and bought a 2nd mouse to leave in my case so I never have to remember to bring my desk one.
Well, it's not working as planned. I have to re-sync them (or whatever the term is...). I use the one in the bag all day, shut it off. Go home, start up mac, and now my desktop one doesn't work. It's really very, very annoying and time consuming to do this every time.
I did a quick search here, but just didn't see any definitive answers on why you can't use two (or more) wireless mice with one computer. Each has a unique hookup, so it should work fine.
Any suggestions?

Problems w/ Apple Mighty Mouse and 2013 Macbook Pro

I recently purchased a 2013 Macbook Pro (13-inch, non-retina), and have tried connecting my 2010 (apprx.) Apple Mighty Mouse via bluetooth.
While it does connect, the right mouse button, "centre mouse button" (pressing down on the scroll wheel), and the two side buttons ("pinching buttons") do not work.
I tried changing the settings through System Preferences, assigning the right mouse button as the "Secondary Button", the centre mouse button for the Dashboard, and the two sides for Expose - App Windows, but none of it worked.
Any suggestions about how to remedy this would be appreciated.

Mighty Mouse does not work right with my macbook why?

I have a macbook 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo and i am running 1.5.8 When I connect my mighty mouse to my macbook it seems to work fine. But for some reason I can not use the right click and when I try to scroll up and down using my finger in the middle of the mouse it does nothing. But when I connect the mouse to my new Imac it works just fine. Why is this?

Have you run Software Update since you got the mouse? The system requirements state:

Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
Existing keyboard and mouse for setup
Two AA batteries (included)

You probably need the Wireless Mouse Software Update in order for the mouse to function properly.

Wireless Mighty Mouse won't work properly with MacBook/tech support stumped

Hi. First post. Anyone heard of this problem? Appears to be location-sensitive. Problem described below, but first, short background...
Just bought entire Mac system after decades in corporate world with PC. Believed the TV ads that it would be simple. Already have been back to Mac store 6 times and have spent roughly 7 hours on phone with help line. Mac store even replaced Macbook entirely in case it was faulty logic board/Bluetooth circuit -- didn't help. Also, problem doesn't happen in store. So, to get to the point:
Wireless Mighty Mouse doesn't work properly when hooked up to Macbook -- herky-jerky, slow, unresponsive, sluggish, imprecise, intermittently better/worse. Went through a few Mighty Mouses and finally gave up; now using hardwire mouse and there's no problem. But before I return Mighty Mouse for refund, would like to see if there's a solution b/c I'd prefer wireless.
System is the latest little souped-up Macbook, 23" HD Cinema external monitor, external wireless Apple keyboard (which works fine), wireless Mighty Mouse (the culprit), Airport Express, HP printer. All brand new from local Mac store (Fifth Avenue, New York)... where the Genius counter folks have given up. I'm not convinced they believe me because (a) the problem doesn't occur there, and (b) after a couple of new Mighty Mouses, they finally just gave me a new Macbook to make me go away... but after going through the whole system setup once again, same problem. Have tried many different mousepads, BTW.
Tried all the stuff phone tech support suggested -- removing/installing/reinstalling software, etc. Airport works fine; using modem and printer connections there. Bluetooth works fine with keyboard. I've scouted around for intefering devices; even unplugged electrostatic loudspeakers and old tubed amps in living room (concrete wall separates rooms), unplugged hifi in same room, etc. On 40th floor of Manhattan hi-rise; concrete walls between neighbors. Have never had interference before with anything; previous PC system worked fine with Microsoft wireless (optical) mouse.
This is no longer urgent because hardwired Apple mouse works well. It's just mysterious.
Any thoughts?
Other than that, I like the Mac environment so far. Fifth Avenue store is cool, also, because it's open 24/7.

Hey, thanks! That was fast. I'm impressed by the Mac community.
This program helped my hardwired mouse, actually, and did give me wider parameters on the wireless mouse, but it didn't correct the herky-jerky/sluggishness -- actually amplified those problems.
