BT Mighty mouse is not middle clicking

Hello. My BT mighty mouse is no longer doing a MMB click. I click the ball, but get a normal click. Apps that need a middle-click are not seeing one.
I have the mouse control panel set to button 3 for the ball.
Any ideas? Is this software or hardware?

Is it a wired or Blue Tooth MM? I'm assuming it's Blue Tooth, if so please use:

for installation instructions.

  • Mighty Mouse does not work right with my macbook why?

I have a macbook 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo and i am running 1.5.8 When I connect my mighty mouse to my macbook it seems to work fine. But for some reason I can not use the right click and when I try to scroll up and down using my finger in the middle of the mouse it does nothing. But when I connect the mouse to my new Imac it works just fine. Why is this?

    Hey Matt,
Have you run Software Update since you got the mouse? The system requirements state:
    System Requirements
Mac computer with Bluetooth wireless technology
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
Existing keyboard and mouse for setup
    Two AA batteries (included)

You probably need the Wireless Mouse Software Update in order for the mouse to function properly.

  • Wireless keyboard and mighty mouse do not work with windows Vista

I have a new iMac core 2 duo 20" used by my granddaughter.
The drive has been partitioned using 50-50 with Boot Camp Assistant to form 2 250 GB partitions and windows Vista has been installed on one of them. The installation process runs smoothly as does the process when the OSX disc is installed for the relevant drivers for keyboard, mouse, isight camera etc. At the end of this process it is necessary to click a :"finish" button but at this point the mouse and keyboard have frozen and there is no other way of inputting information. Restarting in windows takes me to the log in page but there is no way to input the user name and proceed further.
Apple support has suggested hat I use a wired keyboard and mouse or call Microsoft support. Microsoft support have told me that they do not support Vista on a Mac.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

I had the same problem on the mac mini from my dad with windows XP.
I could install everything smoothly but when i wanted to connect the mighty mouse and a wireles apple keyboard i had the same problem.
I fixed this by using a mouse with cable and then add the keyboard and mouse via bluetooth in the configurationscreen. i had to do do this 6 times (the same thing) before it worked so maybe its the same in vista

  • Mighty Mouse Will Not Pair

I got a new iMac in May. The first time I paired the wireless mighty mouse it worked great. The next time I had to turn it iff to change the batteries it would not automatically pair when I turned it back on. The green light just kept blinking. So I plugged in a USB mouse and manually went and found it and it worked. I just turned it off again and had the same problem and now it won't even pair when I plug in a USB mouse and go find it. it searched for devices and it finds my mouse and then I hit "continue" and it tries to pair and then times out and says "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful"

    Hello,
Go to System Preferences/Bluetooth and follow these instructions to re-pair the MM:
You can set up an Apple wireless keyboard and mouse using Bluetooth Setup Assistant.
Make sure the batteries are properly inserted in the keyboard and mouse, and the keyboard and mouse are turned on and discoverable. See the documentation that came with the keyboard and mouse for more information.
    To use Bluetooth Setup Assistant:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Bluetooth.
Click Devices, and then click Set Up New Device.
Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your keyboard or mouse.
If you have replaced the batteries in a mouse that is paired with your computer, click the mouse to reconnect to it.
For more help using Bluetooth, click the Help button in the bottom-right corner of Bluetooth preferences.
"The next time I had to turn it iff to change the batteries it would not automatically pair when I turned it back on" I've had good luck when changing out the batteries to move the slider on the back up and down one time, that usually will re-pair the mouse for you, if not, click the Bluetooth icon in your Status Menu Bar, click Browse Device. Select the Mighty Mouse in the list and click Browse. That will reconnect the the mouse for you.

  • My wireless Mighty Mouse is not working correctly

I purchased a mighty mouse (wireless) for my powerbook G4, and it doesnt work anymore, i mean it works to use as a cursour but the scroll doesnt work and most of the time the right click button doesnt work, it used to work fine then it just slowly died down to where it isnt able to be used anymore, for an APPLE tech my order number is: W21988486, if you can let me know what to do if i can request an exchange for a working mouse or should i visit the local Apple store? thanks -Daniel ([email protected])

It looks like most of the problems seem to be with OSX 10.4+ as mine with 10.3.9 works fine. However, at one time I had the mouse pointer move, but the left click not working. All it took was two new batteries... all the functions (10.3.9 lets me have) came back. Scroll, left and right clicks.
I did test the batteries with a meter that were removed and they had 1.2 volt left in them of the 1.6+ that a new one has. So, my guess is that this little mouse is sensitive to a little power drop, less then I would of guessed.

  • Mighty Mouse software not necessary under 10.4.7?

I just got a Mighty Mouse, and the supplied manual wasn't entirely clear but seemed to imply that the user needs to install the extra Mighty Mouse software on CD. However, after installation (and a pesky restart), I see no difference.
I'm guessing that the software was not needed. If so, why didn't the installer check and refuse to install the unnecessary software?

I believe the installer adds additional Mighty Mouse-specific options in System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse so you can tailor the programmable buttons on the Mighty Mouse. If you don't install that software, you can't customize the buttons, e.g. assign Dashboard to the scroll ball's click.
    Good luck!

  • My Mighty Mouse does not turn on after reboot after my Snow Leopard upgrade

I am having issues with my wireless mighty mouse, it does not turn on automatically like it used to and now I have to turn it on and off for my Mac to see the mouse again. It will them connect any help?

    Hello dw:
For future reference, there is a Bluetooth forum here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=145
Also, go to system preferences>bluetooth. Highlight your mouse. Click on advanced. Click on the little gear at the bottom>show more info. Then click on the gear again and make your mouse a favorite.
If that does not help, try trashing a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restarting.

  • Mighty Mouse will not scroll horizontally uder 10.3.9 why???

    Hi all
I was trying out my Mighty Mouse under 10.3.9 and it's not scrolling horizontally and on Apple support sight it said that it should scroll horizontally and vertically but it just doesn't scroll horizontally why is this? I have tried it on 10.4.10 and no problem here so I know that the scroll ball works and not broken. Is it a software/hardware "glitch" under 10.3.9 or a typo in part of Apple and if not how can I make it scroll horizontally under 10.3.9????
    Thanks!!!!!
PS: Here's what Apple says in they're "Support" section:
+*If you use Mighty Mouse on a computer with Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier, the mouse offers the following functionality:*+
+*Primary and secondary button functions are assigned to left and right buttons respectively*+
+*Vertical and horizontal scrolling is enabled (scrolling can't be disabled)*+
+*Can activate Exposé from the Exposé pane in System Preferences*+

I believe the booklet that came with the mouse explains what features work with each version of Mac OS X (I can't remember the page - I don't have the booklet to hand at the moment); I would expect the scroll ball to work with 10.3.9...

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Pointer not moving

Need some advice. My 7 month old IMAC wireless mighty mouse is scrolling fine but does not move the pointer...can someone help? Thanks!

    Hi Rich:
That file is located in Macintosh HD>library>preferences. Sometimes (rare, but it happens) preference files become corrupted - causing all sorts of odd behavior.
If that does not help, try resetting the PRAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If that does not fix the problem, take the mouse to an Apple store or call Applecare and indicate you have a warranty issue. Apple does replace things under warranty at no cost (shipping paid both ways). I have had a mouse and keyboard replaced in the past and was pleased with the service.

  • Mighty Mouse will not scroll up!

I didn't know where to post this but since this is the most popular place for the mighty mouse, I decided to post here.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get the little scroll ball to scroll up?
    It stopped working last night.
It will scroll down but not up.
    Any suggestions!!!!
    Thanks,
    Sam

Mine has stopped scrolling down - - again.
I first thought it was a mechanical thing - dirt or something in the mechanism.
Once, though, a reboot got it working.
Now it only scrolls up, not down.
Even when it was working, the scroll up was smooth, but the scroll down was jerky and uneven.
If it continues, I will return it for a replacement.
This seems to be one Apple's flops.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse Problems - NO RIGHT CLICK.

i tried dozens of times... i can't use the right click. it acts as a primary button even though i set it to secondary...
is there another way of setting it so that it is secondary that i didn't do so that it would cause such a phenomenon?
    I NEED HELP. please.

    Alex,
Do a search of this forum for "mighty mouse right button" or "mighty mouse secondary button." There are a number of problems it may be. The first thing to be sure is that you aren't touching the left button at all while you try to right click. The MM works via sensing whether a finger is on the right or left side of the mouse, and if you are touching the left button even slightly it will register as a primary click rather than a secondary.
Second, there are also issues that have been reported with the BT MM losing the ability to sense that primary / secondary difference after some period of time. Replacing the mouse (sometimes needing to go through a few replacements) does seem to eventually fix that.
If it doesn't seem to be an issue with contact on the sensor, I'd suggest returning the mouse and requesting a new one.

  • Mighty Mouse makes non-stop click noise, inducing violent madness

Brand spanking new Mac Pro, fresh out of the box as of 6 hours ago. As soon as I plugged in my wired Mighty Mouse, Exposé began going bananas. I quickly deactivated Button 4, but it makes an endless clicking sound from its internal speaker whenever a hand is so much as placed on the Mouse.
Is there a fix or do I have to go get a new mouse? Is this covered under warranty/Applecare?

Had the same thing... When i moved my iMac to different spot on my desk it the mouse started to make noise.... then when i moved it back to original location - no more clicking noise. It truned out that my lamps in the room were causing interference of some sort..... disconnected the lights and no more cliking noise.... this is why its good to invest in universal battery power supply/surge protector to save all you gadgets!

  • Mighty Mouse (Bluetooth) NOT Fully Functional

After installing Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), the Might Mouse BT used with a MacBook 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo only functions as a pointer but it cannot select with a click .Battery power is okay. The Mighty Mouse was fully functinal with Mac OS 10.6.8 on the same MacBook.

Replaced the batteries with fully charged rechargable batteries. The Might Mouse and now it is fully functional.
    My Theory
Rechargable batteries can be a problem with a Mighty Mouse.
Although the battery level was at 40%, the Mighty Mouse started to loose some of its functionality. If you choose to use rechargable batteries, as I encourage you to do, replace them before the battery level drops below 50%.
