BT Net Protect and windows 7 searching (indexing)

Guys,
does anyone else have an issue whereby windows search does not find files that are in the configured search folders?
I have 1000's of photos but the windows search only builds an index of a few hundred files.
Ive tried lots of attempts to troubleshoot this and now believe that its a NETPROTECT issue.

suggests that there was an issue whereby mcafee would stop windows indexing service running properly.
It was supposedly fixed in a patch to Mcafee.
Has that patch been supplied to the netprotect variant of mcafee ?
Is everyone elses indexing working ok and its just mine ?

Adobe 10 upgrade brakes down Windows 7 search index

After Adobe 10 upgrade I noticed that I miss files when I use Windows 7 build in search engine.
Going to "Indexing Options/Advance/File types" I notice that PDF extension changed to "File properties filter"
I can change this to "Plain text filter" but this did not help much.

Windows 2012 Search indexer 0x80470005

I receive error code 0x80470005 from Search Indexer service. What is the problem with it?

You might try deleting / rebuilding index. Control Panel|Indexing Options|Advanced|Rebuild

Argo search of cFolders and Windows desktop search

Will Argo cover searching cFolders as well?
And what about Windows desktop search?
Unfortunately Windows desktop search does not cover cFolders and the search function within cFolders search no content (header information only, no attached documents).
My hope is that Argo will bridge this functional gaps.

Safari and (Windows) Live Search incompatible

Go to http://www.live.com. It's the beta for Windows Live Search. Works fine in Camino, but the page never completely loads in Safari 2.0.3, at least for me.

Virus with Net Protect Plus- windows 7 Toshiba lap...

Innocently looking up some stuff today when McAfee kicks in & says Trojan Alert & removes 3 in quick succession. Next thing I know, about 20 pop ups appear purporting to tell me that the cpu is unable to run various files, desktop goes blank except for recycle bin & NPP, 2 screens from 'virus removing software' that I cannot close merely drag. All programs go from start screen & all pictures etc gone. Various error messages such as low on RAM, hard disk failure popping up as well
Managed to run a full scan which detected trojans but still left me with same screen. Contacted helpdesk & after nearly an hour, & GTA was told that as NPP showed no threat that it wasn't a virus, was a hard disk problem & I should contact Toshiba. Decided I had nothing to lose so did a system restore (search facility still working). This brought everything back, but....
All documents in library were 'greyed out' and they became hidden files- have managed to restore these by adjusting properties of every file removing hidden option. Unable to resolve the following
Favourites bar completely blank in IE, Microsoft Works telling me error although after clicking OK 3 times, it will work. A lock icon on all users in c drive. Ran another scan which found another trojan(I hadn't connected since last scan so how did that happen?)
My queries are
1) It was quite plainly an attack to me so why was I advised that the problem lay with my computer rather than the protection properties of NPP
2) How do I know that I really have got rid of whatever was there as McAfee says ok but then again, it didn't do much to prevent/cure the problem in the 1st place
3) Is it worth contacting helpdesk again with GTA & get them to check it out - I'm paying monthly for NPP after all
4) From searching it seems like I may have been attacked by 'Windows recovery' virus which is well known for not being picked up by McAfee so why don't they do something about it.

I have seen 2 similar malware and yours sounds like the 'system restore' and not the 'system fix' version

NB 100 and Windows 7 - Searching step by step guide and drivers

im thinking about to install Windows7 on my nb 100. But I have some question.
1. How can I install the dvd version of windows 7 on my nb 100. Is this tool from Microsoft the right one?

1) You can install Win 7 using an Win 7 DVD or you can purchase an ISO file (image) and could create an bootable DVD or bootable USB flash drive.
The NB100 does not use an internal DVD drive. So if you would like to install Win 7 from DVD then you need to purchase an external USB CD/DVD drive. But you could also create an bootable USB flash drive and could install Win 7 from such external USB flash drive.
2) Yes, it will function. The recovery disk should set the notebook back to the same state like at the first day of purchase.
3) I think NB100 has not been created for Win 7 because this is a netbook.
Win 7 would not run fast enough of course you could install it but the Win 7 needs a lot of hardware power and recourses like Vista and I assume NB100 does not supports such devices powerful CPU or GPU.
4) I doubt such instruction exists. I mean the Win 7 drivers are not available for NB100. So how to make a installation guide without any Win 7 drivers??? But as mentioned above; you can install it using external drive. The Win 7 drivers have to be collected at your own hand.

Files not showing up in Windows 7 Search

Hi everyone. I'm having trouble with Windows Search on my Windows 7 Home Premium.
Through the start menu search box, I can find some but not all files. Programs almost always show up, but it's very hit or miss on files for music, documents, photos, or email messages (Windows Live Mail). It seems like it's more likely to show up if
I have recently modified the file. Also, in Windows Explorer while browsing files I can see the files in the window but if I type the name into the search box in the corner, it says that file doesn't exist in the folder, which makes no sense because it is
obviously right there.
So far, I've run the Searching And Indexing Troubleshooter and rebuilt my search indexes multiple times. It says I have 874 items indexed. Is that number particularily high or low? I don't really know, as it may be the source of my problems. Both of

Based on my research,
I suggest you perform the following steps.
1. Rebuild Windows Search to index via the following article:
force Windows
Search to index
2. Type “services.msc” in Search box and press Enter. Double click Windows Search service and click Stop. Then, please restart the service and assure
the Startup Type is Automatic.
3. Perform a
Clean Boot to check the result.

I need to implement the Charms bar search functionality in my VB.NET application. I need it to automatically open the bar and search. How do I do this? Is there a way to open up "Everything Search" from within a VB.NET application and conduct a

How do i turn on network access protection on windows 8.1 with an hp p6-2326S pc?

i got a phone call from a unknown source today at around 3 pm they said that hackers where trying to access my computer . they ran a scan and it showed thre things one was my network access protection was turned off . 2 hackers were trying to hack into my computer i cant remember the 3rd one its in my note pad but then i got this big run around and i told them from the start that i had no money and that i had just buried my mom on the 2nd of this month after a long battle and that i had just had a bad episode with my blood pressure wasnt feeling god and so on ,all of which are true once i finally convinced the worker of the fact i had no money he put his super visor on the line .the supervisor was stalling i could tell im no dummy when it comes to software and computers i taught myself xp professional and the windows 8.1 which im still learning i finally got tired of his super visor retstartd my computer and got control uninstalled skype mozilla nightly and mozilla experimental and several other prorams with my revo pro uninstaller my computer is rinning smooth now but i have seen .that ny network access protection is turned off ,how do i turn this on and is it neccasary i have malware bytes new 2.7. something full time bought and paid for protection and windows defender .i run a discclean every day and my mal;ware bytes and windows defender any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated i do have HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT AND MY WARRANTY IS UP TO DATE AND PAID FOR .. sincerely donald hutchison

Now the trouble may start, you did allow people to logon to your computer and you believe them ! HP Support Assisstant is there to support your technical problems it does not know you will open the door of your house for someone to comes in to steal your money.
Now, please change all your passwords to logon to email, bank account(s) ..... before too late. Also please download the following tool nd run on your computer, hope it can remove the nasty bits.

Search Option Set does not exclude Search Indexes

Hello!
We are running NW04 SPS15
I've created a Search Option set, and in the "Search Index IDs (CSV)" property I've listed the one index Id I would like to search.
My problem is that when I submit the search, TREX returns documents which are NOT in the list of Index ID's.
Any suggestions??

The settings you have entered in the search options set needs a place to be stored - a search component. Try creating a search component set with standard_search_input in Component for Basic Search Function and standard_search_scope (storage for the index restriction from the search options set) in Component for Search Options, use it along with the search options set in your search iview, and see if it works.
Try swapping the position of the two search components in the search component set and notice the change in your search results.

Is it possible to make and embed a search index for a single very large PDF?
If so, are there advantages over no index -- such as faster search speed?
If Acrobat 9 Pro can make such an index, can Reader 9 use it?

Am i the only one that see's serious bugs with Windows Search index on Windows 8.1 and Office 2013?

So i originally had Windows 8 and Office 2013 installed. I noticed that alot of my emails in Outlook 2013 as well as contacts werent being indexed. I waited for windows 8.1 and did an upgrade hoping the 8.1 would fix the issue. It didn't.
So i formatted my hard drive, installed fresh windows 8.1, and office 2013, and let it Windows Index run. I see 2 things happening.
A.) The indexer never completes
B.) the indexer takes up 40% cpu usage.
I tried rebuilding, creating index from new location, nothing seemed to work. I decided to prevent the indexer from searching Office apps (outlook and onenote) and low and behold it completes indexing.
I decided to try and format again and see if there was some bug causing the issue. So this week I formatted once agian, loaded Windows 8.1, installed updates, and loaded office 2013. Once again, my indexer
is stuck around 70k items and my processor usage on Searchindexer.exe is around 30-40%.
Is this a known bug with 8.1 and office?

I test in my environment, and Windows would finish the index, the CPU usage keeps in 29%, which my RAM is 8G.
Can you tell us how you let the Windows Index run?
