BT NetProtect Plus - Does it have an integrated Sp...

I've just been connected to Infinity and installed BT NetProtect Plus, uninstalling the McAfee package supplied by my previous ISP. My previous package included a spam filter option, which integrated with Outlook 2007, but, as far as I can tell, NetProtect Plus hasn't installed anything; is this something that isn't included in it? I've used McAfee's clean-up program to remove all traces of previous installs and then did a fresh install, I've also been through McAfee's support page and tried all their solutions to bring up the spam toolbar with no luck. The thing that makes me think it's not included is that one of the solutions involves a command line, but the folder referred to doesn't exist in the McAfee directory on my PC.

It's not so much about spam filtering, per se, more that it can pick up any attachments that might contain viruses on any spam that does get through everything else. Whilst I'm highly unlikely to open any such attachments, it's good to have something that kills them before you could get anywhere near looking at an e-mail to determine if it's genuine.

    Hi:
We would need to know the full model number of your PC in order to answer your question.
Normally a PC with a webcam has a small glass camera lens in the middle of the top frame of the bezel facing you when you open the lid.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Could also be not enough free space for the iPad to operate efficiently. With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free.  For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. For a 32 GB device that is 4.8-6.4 GB free. For a 64 GB device that is 9.6-12.8 GB free.
If neither of these suggestions helps, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • I tried to add my Planner Plus to my calendar and it gave me a message that says "This app does not have access to your calendars."  You can enable access in Privacy Settings.  But when I go to Privacy Seettings, there are no apps listed under Calendar.

I am trying to access my calender in the app Planner Plus and I get the message. "This app does not have access to your calendars."  You can enable access in Privacy Settings.  But when I go to Privacy Settings, there are no apps listed under Calendar.  Anyone?

Oh my gosh. This worked perfectly!!!
After allowing the changes, I just had to open the apps again (such as Instagram), then the pop-up asking to allow access to Photos appeared!
And I thought I was going to get rid of my iPhone 4 already because of the issue.

  • Does APEX have Enterprise Manager or iSQL*Plus web apps/listeners?

I just finished as T.A. on a course in database security. The course has the students download the full Enterprise database to explore Oracle features, including Enterprise Manager operations.
I just installed the App Express Edition database, and it sure is nicer to install, so I would like to recommend it to the instructor for future use. However, the course depends heavily on the Enterprise Manager web console, and I can't find that in this install. The course also uses iSQL*Plus a little but mostly regular SQLplus.
What's the story -- any recommendations?

OK well I think I understand now. I am not really asking about "Application Express" because I think that may refer more precisely to the application development service that has been called WebDB and HTMLDB in the past.
We want our students to use the Enterprise Manager web interface to get some hands-on experience administering Oracle. This is installed and launched in the Windows installation of the 10g non-"Express Edition."
I have downloaded Express Edition and found the install much better suited for casual users like our students. It has a slightly simplified admin interface off the Express web page. However, I don't see any indication it has the full Enterprise Manager which we need for our students.
    Does it have EM?

  • Does anyone have a very simplee4 and GEF4 UI-integration example?

Does anyone have a very simple GEF4 example? I am trying to learn GEF4 without ever having used the prior versions of GEF. I have bought five different books on eclipse plug-ins and RCP. Only one book, "Eclipse Plug-ins third edition" had a chapter on GEF. I read chapter 20 on GEF but it is based on version 3.x. Then I read other pages like this (https://wiki.eclipse.org/GEF/GEF4/MVC/Examples#Logo_Example_.28Standalone.2C_Eclipse_UI.2C_Web.29) and this (http://nyssen.blogspot.de/2015/06/gef4-mission-to-mars-accomplished.html) but they all assume prior GEF knowledge.
Does anyone have a very simple GEF project example that is a Eclipse4 "Part" with a GEF UI-integration? By simple I am thinking only one "figure", a filled circle for example, with the a supporting Model and Controller (EditPart) that just outputs to the console a message like "The move is over the circle" to the console. All the other examples have a lot more stuff that is making it hard for this newbie to get a grip on the basics of the MVC in GEF4.

I agree with you that something needs to change.
I am a long time Macintosh user and Apple fan. I was using iTunes to download video podcasts to my iPod for a while before I realized that the list all buttons list all of the "Featured" podcasts only. I had no idea how much content was out there.
I also take issue with the listings on iTunes. There is a Tiger Woods podcast that is killing all the other podcasts in terms of popularity. The problem is, it isn't really a podcast. It is simply a commercial that is in iPod format. This hardly deserves the spot in ITMS that it has. It is not updated or new, but it is listed as new and notable. As if Tiger needs more press.
It seems that the big money podcasts get billing and premiere placement in the store. I hope they give some sort of fair time in the spotlight to podcasts that are regularly updated.

    Please be specific.

The Nano does have 3G or 4G capabilities nor does it have any Wi-Fi hardware and capability, so no need to worry about setting up a plan/service with AT&T.

  • Installed BT NetProtect Plus now I cannot access m...

    Hi,
I thought I was doing the right thing by installing BT NetProtect plus on my Windows XP Pro PC however ever since I have had issues.  I can no longer browse my home network to access shared files - when I double-click my workgroup I get an error of 'MSHOME is not accessible, you may not have permission to use this network resource'.  I did not get this prior to the installation.   I tried initially just disabling the firewall - at least this allowed other PCs to browse the shares on my PC but it did not help on my PC.
I have now uninstalled NetProtect Plus but this has not resolved the issue.  It would seem that the software has changed some setting but not reset it when removed.
I do have File and Printer sharing enabled on my PC
    I have enabled WINS
I do have the Computer Browser Service running
All of these were suggestions on the Internet.  Still no luck.
Please any other suggestions would be most welcome as I need to be able to access the network for my work.

Some things that might be worth checking.
The account/share password if any is still correct.
The Log On  credentials for the appropriate System Services are still correct (cross check any details using your other PCs )
The User/Admin Account you are using still has the proper credentials & access rights, particularly to the folders you have shared.

  • BT NetProtect plus – Real time scanning and update...

I have posted this message as both a pointer in case others have the same issue as well as whether anyone has found a proper resolution.
I have recently experianced problems with my BT NetProtect plus indicating the Real time scanning has stopped and any attempt to restart it does not work. This is accompanied with it keep promptig that there is a new update and to restart the computer. This happened every time I logged on.
I had spent some considerable time with the BT support people who have now reinstalled the software about 6 time's after the 2 time I had already tried.
I run Windows 7 64 bit and recently installed an SSD drive. The key thing I have subsequently discovered in my upgrade is that I changed some registry settings to make my default installation location to be my D: drive. I followed this post :
The 64bit version has two versions of regedit. Make this change as well:
1.) Enter into Start>Run: %systemroot%\syswow64\regedit 2.) Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion 3.) Change the Path in DWORDs ProgramFilesDir, ProgramFilesDir (x86) to the new path, probably just changing the drive letter
Everything works fine apart from BT NetProtect plus which when installed new has the above issue.  If I change the default install location back to C: drive then it installs OK and works OK when I subsequently change the default install location back to the D: drive. When I say works OK, that is until BT NetProtect plus issues a major update when the same problem appears again.
I am waiting further contact from the 3rd line helpdesk but the 2nd line team did not seam to know of this problem.
Has anyone else experenced it or know of a proper solution ?

A full McAfee scan on my desktop PC can take about 2 hours or so and a full scan sometimes slows down my over 3 year old desktop PC. Thats why I only do a full McAfee scan every once in a while but I do a quick McAfee scan every 6 or 7 days.
I do like the McAfee shredder though and use that now and again. I also got McAfee quick clean set to run at lest twice a week.
I have used Norton in the past and that slowed down my last PC more than McAfee from BT. The free version of AVG is good but its only an anti-virus. Some say the windows firewall is ok but not the best.
I also have windows defender set to do a quick scan every evening around 9pm. As most nights I have my Desktop PC on at that time.
I also do a disk clean up at leat once a day.

  • BT Netprotect plus home network problem

I am having real problems with my home network when Netprotect plus is installed, which BT have been unable to resolve.
My network consists of two PCs running XP with service pack 3, a Netgear NAS drive, a laptop with Vista and a home hub 2.
All computers have file sharing set up correctly, no computer names are duplicated, all have the same network name set etc.  All devices show up on the network but I cannot read or open files on the different PCs and the laptop. The only device that I can open files on is the NAS drive - which clearly does not have NetProtect plus on; the NAS drive cannot however access my PCs for backing up purposes.
We have tried everything; permitted IPs are all set up correctly but even switching off the firewalls in NetProtect plus makes no difference, nor does removing and reinstalling NetProtect plus.  If I remove Netprotect plus from a particular PC then other devices on the network can access that PC perfectly normally - indicating that the problem lies with NetProtect plus.
The only solution would seem to be to move to another antivirus/netprotect programme.  But if anyone has any other ideas that would be much appreciated.
    Ian

    A postscript:
In the end I gave up on Netprotect plus and installed Kaspersky on the main PC, leaving Netprotect plus on the rest of the network. Kaspersky works perfectly. The other machines on the network can read and copy files from the machine running Kaspersky, which is what I needed. The reverse operation does not work, ie I cannot open and read files on the machines running Netprotect, but this does not cause me any problems. Incidentally, BT support were unable to sort out the problem!!

  • BT Netprotect Plus/McAfee not turned on, cannot st...

    Hi guys,
On my wife's laptop (windows7) i get a toolbar flag with a cross through it which, when clicked, comes up with a window that says "McAfee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware reports that it is turned off". If you follow the options to "turn on now" it asks you to "trust" the publisher. If i do that it appears to do nothing.
So i tried clicking the the McAfee shield on the bottom right and nothing happens (no response).
So i tried to go into BT NetProtect Plus via Start, All Programs etc. and when i do all i get is a blank white box (no other response. Only way out is to close the program.
Same blank white box when i try to "Uninstall or change a program" for BT Netprotect Plus.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Jeff

    Insomnia struck, so here goes.
    @AQ
Only problem I had with MSE was getting a scheduled scan to run, though it wasn't really a problem as it lets you know soon enough if you need an on demand scan, provided you show the icon in system tray. I won't bother with the details, but it had to do with how MSE operates with Task Scheduler. Anyway it was solved through Windows 7 Forum. For what it's worth here's how I got it to run reliably:
Set a quick scan to run to run daily at a time when you are most likely to be using the computer. Uncheck the two boxes for latest definitions (MSE checks every day anyway) and to run when not in use. Leave CPU at default of 50%.
This captures a scan every couple of days at least, completely unnoticed as it takes literally a couple of minutes and has a very light touch. I only know it ran by checking the program. A full scan is very thorough and takes a couple of hours; worth running now and then when the computer has nothing better to do. As belt and braces, I also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on demand occasionally; it too is very quick.
MSE doesn't come with a firewall but you just need to turn on the Windows one. MSE also disables Windows Defender, a bonus as you get way fewer Windows updates.
    @DS
I also liked Site Adviser but it was never happy with Chrome, my default, so I opted for WOT. They do work differently; who knows which is better?
I use IE occasionally due to Chrome not going too well with a particular website. I did have Site Adviser with it, but it went with the rest of McAfee when I installed MSE, and I replaced it with WOT just for consistency. I'd be surprised if there was a problem running SA with MSE. Google didn't bring up much; no suggestion of incompatibility but some consensus that MSE was OK on its own and SA is cr@p! So yer pays yer money and takes yer choice I guess.
MSE is very slim but does offer a bunch of options.
    @All
I've said before that McAfee was not too bothersome on my laptop, but it strangled the netbook. I was so pleased with MSE on the netbook that I also ditched McAfee from the laptop when it delivered the icon problem reported here some weeks ago, even though I still had a year's subscription left. Good decision.

I had to reinstall BT NetProtect Plus. Now it puts a desktop shortcut (on the desktop) each time PC boots up, even if it has been previously deleted.
I cannot find a setting in the product to remove the icon, and a browse through the registry did not show any obvious setting to stop it being added.
Any one know of a way of getting rid of this?
Also... BT why do you insist on adding this, especially as it in the system tray.

Would you like to ask the rest of the forum members?
McAfee rolled out an update a while back, you need the latest version installed, have a read - https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-3361
This should sort out the BTNP version - open BTNP, navigate to update and select it.
Then after it's updated, simply try deleting the icon again.
Can't really give any more help as I've stopped using BTNP
