BT not syncing with my voice commands on my MKZ, I can physically use the phonebook?
BT stopped syncing with my phonebook in my car. Command says that it doesn't recognize the number in the phonebook, but they are there. I can physically use the touchpad and make the calls..what's up with that. Working real well before.
I have to say that is a completely stupid thing Apple has done - they have solved a problem that didn't exist.
I plug my iPhone into my laptop and - bam - everything is synced. No fuss, no muss. To force everyone to (1) use iCloud or (2) use another syncing service is inefficient and pointless - not exactly the Apple way which I thought was the whole point of Apple's/Jobs' vision. Perhaps Apple is competing with Google to try to get as much information about us as possible?
Just called Apple at 1.800.694.7466 and they told me the issue isn't with Mavericks per se but with iTunes 11.1.5.
According the helpful woman I spoke to, no one at Apple knows why Apple decided to remove the ability to sync everything via USB. She hears complaints about the change and knows it makes life difficult for folks.
She also recommended contacting www.apple.com/feedback about the change. She says Apple does in fact have a group of people who do read the comments.

I will try with ethernet but will be a pain in the butt if i can not fix it with wifi for long term fix
I may end up trying to do a named IP address vs DHCP for this appleTV (not sure if i can do both and do not want to remove DHCP as i have a bunch of sensors and other devices that I prefer to dynamically add to the network via DHCP vs. assign each one
Will keep working on other fix options (factory reset, etc.)

Not true. The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You really should transfer everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your computer. Since you do not have access to the old computer, then use your backup copy of the old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you would have to transfer itunes purchased as described earlier. Any other itunes content would be lost.
You can e-mail photo library pics to yourself, but they will not be of the original quality.
Before syncing, enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data. -

I had my iphone stolen a few weeks ago which had quite a lot of music on that I had downloaded from itunes via my phone but had not synced with itunes on my computer.

Iphone 4 will not sync with cloud, just tells me it failed and try again for the past month
my iphone 4 will not sync with teh cloud. I tried deletaing the backup on the cloud adn starting a new one, I tried resetting cloud on my iphone adn still an error that jsut says it had an error and try again later for over a month now. any suggestions?
Hi not sure if Im leaving this is in the right place but here is my issue:
I have an iphone 4s and everything is working, including syncing it except that I have shot two videos that are 30 and 60 minutes that are not showing up on itunes. Therefore, I cannot save them and delete them off my phone. Curiously, when I view my phone on itunes it is showing on the content summary (color coded bar on the bottom of the screen) that the 'other' type content is 13 GB. I don't have other content and I am positive itunes is not recognizing them as video but 'other'. Any thoughts on this? My phone is full and don't want to delete these two interviews I shot. I typically download my music directly from youtube. I have never had any issue when it came to putting it on my ipod touch (4th generation). However, today, I downloaded a couple of songs, added them to my iTunes (11.1.4). When I hit "sync" it said at the top that it was "Synching iPod: Steps 1of 3." It went through these steps incredibly quickly, a matter of seconds really, and I went to check it they had synced. They had not. I tried this several times before uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Even with the re-install, it does not work. I am wondering if it is because these songs were not downloaded directly from the iTunes store. i tried downloading a song from the iTunes store and it is currently in my iPod, so I know that it is able to sync music. I just started using this version of iTunes as I just installed it on the laptop I just bought (windows 8).
Was the iPod setup via iTunes on this computer?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?

I'm using iPod 4th Gen iOS 6.1.3 and an iMac with 11.3 .. All latest versions. I have 23.4gb music according to the file but when I attached the iPod the bar at the foot of the page says 18.3gb. Some tracks are missing. Most if not all have been ripped from cd's into iTunes which is creating AAC format for each track. Other tracks play fine, some show the song but not the Artist and vice versa.
I have tried dragging the tracks from the Mac library to the IPod music file..nothing. So I go to Safari, type the question in and read the same problems over.. Are Apple aware of their Tutorials without troubleshooting pages ? Do they care?
My Pioneer DDJ/T1 is set up with Traktor and only wants to work with iTunes.. So iTunes are edging themselves in everywhere for everything... But it's still not working as it should..

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again -

My backup seems to be unusable.
Fortunately I had the data folder on a separate drive so all my database files are safe.
Is it possible to install a fresh 11g XE and use the database files to restore the data?>> but the tablespace is totaly empty
That is what REUSE does when adding a datafile.
When datafiles from an old instance are available, they can be added to the instance by recreating the controlfile(s), either a) adjust the CONTROL_FILES parameter to point at new filename(s), or b) just move (or remove) all the instance controlfiles, shutdown immediate; startup nomount, do the CREATE CONTROLFILE ... ; DDL, alter database open resetlotgs; and recreate the tempfile(s).

Basically the create controlfile steps bring the old instance back to life (aka reincarnate). The important bit can be had by doing an alter database backup controlfile to trace; as mentioned in one of the comments, trace file with the DDL is created in the instance trace folder with the create controlfile... and other bits of info.
One caveat, if the instance was open datafile recovery is required before opening the database, and will require the archivelog files to redo committed transactions and rollback uncommitted transactions. If the instance was not in archivelog mode, the old redo logfiles *might* have enough info for the recovery. Or they may not- that is a risk of noarchivelog mode. -
I have an Intel Mac mini. Main computer is Macbook on ethernet cable. Can I, with the right cables, use the mini to watch downloaded movies on my HDMI tv?
Use your MacBook Pro because it has FireWire. Use Target Disk Mode on your Mac mini so that the Mac mini will display on the MacBook Pro like a external HDD. You'll need a FireWire 400 cable. You can get one for around $10 if you don't have one. And I recommend getting that sooner than later because you can use that for many things if your computer has issues. Anyway, to put your Mac mini is target disk mode, connect the two computers with the wire. Turn on the Mac mini with the "T" key down after your MacBook Pro has started and ready. You'll see the FireWire logo on your Mac mini. And on your MacBook Pro, you'll see the Mac mini's HDD as an external HDD. Do whatever you need. When you finish, drag the Mac mini drive to the trash to eject it. Few seconds later, turn off your Mac mini to complete the whole process.

- What is the source of the videos? If taken by the iPod you can transfer them to the new computer by:
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
- If they were iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- If they were synced to the iPod and not iTunes purchases then you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView. -
