BT on demand streaming prob.

Having probs with BTvision on demand. The picture and sound freezes repeatedly unless i pause for a few mins and then start. Again 5mins later it will repeat process.
This has been happening the last week and i have tried phoning helpdesk but **bleep**, they don`t even know what streaming is.
It`s the streaming process thats the problem for sure but at a loss what else i can do. Adaptors have never worked on my BTVision so i had to use a special 20ft Ethernet cable from the black BT router to the black BTvision box.I have a HDMI lead from box to my Panasonic 1080p Vierra Television.
Have also a dedicated ADSL2 connection and live 300m away from the BT exchange and as my stats show have no probs with the line. Phone works perfectly.
So would appreciate some help as normally i can sort things out myself but not this time.Has been running ok for a year now.
Yea, one more thing. I`ve been reading the forums of late and ppl have been complaining about a bad picture with on demand. Well, iv`e had that since i got the box and thought it was normal after been told hundreds of times by so called techies that my picture is ok. I had Sky for 3yrs and HD for 2yrs and i can tell you now BT on demand has a lot worse picture than Freeview that is on the wifes television.
I`ve posted my setup and i`ve set 1080p in my settings and i know Btvision has`nt HD yet but i would have expected a decent picture. But hey, 5mnths and i can go back to Sky and pay them £65 a month because BT don`t seem to want my money.

Does iTunes have music streaming on demand?

Thank you. I think with Spotify, for $25 per year, one can select and listen to any one particular song at any time.  That's what I meant by on-demand streaming.  Does iTunes have anything like that?

    Is that so?

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) bt speedtester and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

  • On-demand streaming doesn't work

I want to config the on-demand Adobe MEdia Server on Amazon.
I've done all steps from this instruction http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/amazonec2/WS6fc2df2b6d2ce24359910e2812c396a83 eb-7ff8.2.html, but it doesn't work.
I check the sample video files in player http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/#
    For the video
    rtmp://ec2-54-234-27-150.compute-1.amazonaws.com//vod/sample.flv
it says 'Buffering' and nothing more
    For the video
    http://ec2-54-234-27-150.compute-1.amazonaws.com/vod/hds_sample1_manifest.f4m
it says 'We are having problems with playback. We apologize for the inconvenience'
    What's the problem?
I checked the player on this page http://ec2-54-234-27-150.compute-1.amazonaws.com , it works fine

  • How to start streaming from server side after applet initialized on client

    Hi,
I am using JSP for on demand streaming server.
I have included an applet in jsp page which start new player on client side after on streamreceive event.
But my problem is how to give call to server that applet on client side has been initialized and now streaming can go on.
Is there any method / way to call class file which will start streaming?

Oracle is designed to support connection from client to server. The client originates the connection.
If you want the server to initiate the connection, you need to make the server pretend it is a client. Oracle even does this internally, when they want to use 'External Procedures'
You may also use Oracle's Message Queue mechanism, called 'Advanced Queueing' to use a 'publish subscribe' model instead of a connection model. That is discussed in the Advanced Queue manual in the documentation at http://docs.oracle.com
Finally, you can explore the possibility of using RMI from the database, as discussed in the Java related documentation at the same location.

  • Streaming using Media Services

    Scenario:
Total 125 students will be connected to 5 different classes. Each with one instructor. Both the parties will have a WinForms application on their machines and two way video streaming should be possible among them. The teacher should be able to stream his/her
webcam feed or screen and same applies for the student. The instructor feed should be streamed to all students simultaneously. The communication should be over the internet.
Now approximately 1 hour of HD content will be around 1GB in size.
I have read about Live Streaming feature in Media Services based on Azure. Its pricing model is based on amount of data consumed. Now my question is if I am sending this 1 hour content to say 100 students then will I be charged for 100 GBs or is there a
way to stream data without having to incur the bandwidth cost for each student. What is the best and cost effective way to utilize Media services to stream data in this scenario?
Please respond as soon as possible.
    Regards,
    Aakash Goyal

    Hi,
Media Services Encoding is charged based on the amount of data processed and whether you choose to have Encoding Reserved Units to process parallel media tasks.
    Refer :
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/media-services/#encoding
On-demand streaming is charged based on the number of Reserved Units you use. Reserved Unit provides bandwidth up to 200 Mbps per Reserved Unit along with built-in failover.
Reserved Unit: $199 per month (prorated daily)
In addition, any outbound data transfers are charged separately at the regular
    Data Transfer rate.

  • Multiple Forecast Streams in Demantra

    Hey,
I've noticed release note for 7.2 includes the following enhancement:
"You may want to create statistical forecasts from multiple demand streams.
You can generate a forecast from any data stream, for example, booking history and shipment history. Each data stream has a unique engine profile and version."
I haven't been able to find much documentation about this option.
Has anyone implemented a solution using that ? Know any HOW-TO documents available?
I'm thinking of using it for forecasting - item sales, and item returns from customers.
How should SALES_DATA be loaded for that scenario? How should engine be run?
    Thanks alot for any reply,
    Aaron

    Hi All,
Forecasting with multiple demand stream means that you can generate multiple forecasts based on different demand stream. By demand stream, i mean the historical data stream on which you want to generate the forecast.
There can be situations where you may require to generate forecast for different purpose.Like Aaron mentioned, you may want to generate a forecast based on the order/booking history and/or you may want to generate a forecast based on the returns history. For this purpose you need to create different engine profiles.Engine profile is nothing but a set of engine parameters with specific values. Oracle Demantra provides some predefined profiles for different purposes, and you can define additional engine profiles, as needed. When you run the Analytical Engine, you specify the engine profile to use.
Now coming to the HOW-TO part:
    1) The quantity_form (system parameter) contains an expression that is used by the engine to retrieve and aggregate demand stream data from the SALES_DATA table. Make sure that the quantity_form expression for a specific engine profile points to database columns containing the historical demand stream desired for the profile. Meaning, if you want to generate a forecast based on booking history then the quantity_form should point to the booking history stream in the sales_data table. Likewise for returns history, point the quantity_form to returns history stream in sales_data table.
    2) Create a series to view the forecast generated by the engine profile.
    3) The newly created engine profiles gets added to the list of engine profiles in the system parameters. You can select the required engine profile and generate the forecast.
    4) View, Edit or compare the forecast created in step 4 by creating a worksheet with all the forecast generated.
I hope this brings more clarity to the queries/replies posted earlier.

  • Recording streaming Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro meeting

    Hi,
I want to record an on-demand streaming webinar (available for limited time) which uses adobe acrobat connect pro. Can someone please tell me what software I can use to record the webinars in this format.
    Thanks,
    Rahul

The host of the meeting should be able to start and stop recording the live session whenever they want/need. Then the recording is viewable from a link, not dissimilar to the link for the live meeting.

    Hi,
    Thanks for trying this out.
Do you see the slow loading for both iOS and Flash playbacks ? Try including port into the HTTP url. So, it should look like : http://<server>:8134/hls-vod......
8134 is the default port apache on FMS uses, with a default installation. Change accordingly otherwise.

  • URL Event cuepoints embedded in live flv stream

I would like to stream live flv files with on-the-fly embedded cuepoints to synchronize slide shows to the live stream
I use the function frequently on on-demand streams, but those are static xml cuepoint lists
I understand that it can be done.  I read in the doucmentation that there are navigation and event streams embedded in the .flv, regardless of whether it's live or on-demand.   I need a way to enter cue points at the encoder and to set a listener for them in the player.  I know the url i will be calling for ahead of time, just not the time in the event that it will be called.
    Thanks for your help..

    Charles,
Thanks for your response.  Our use case seems is pretty basic.  We have a live stream which will have cuepoints added at random times of the live encode.  Additionally we want to retain the functionality for cuepoints added by actionscript to the dynamic timeline metadata  The stream is h.264 and the encoder is inserting an in-stream callback for the cue point.
I know I can create a custom callback on the NetStream.client, but was initially investigating if they could/would be handled by current OSMF timeline processes.  Another method I have thought of is to use different handlers for the embedded and dynamic timelines.  MARKER_ADD events on the embedded timeline trigger an action immediately, rather than waiting for the MARKER_TIME_REACHED event.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Vision on demand stops working from 7.45 - 11.00 e...

Hi , Can the powerline adapters cause on demand issues at the same time every night?
Since Sunday all on demand and BBCI player (through BT Vision) content stutters and stops from about 19.45 - 23.00ish
It works fine at any other time and bbci player through the ps3 works fine. I have not had this issue before and we would be watching on demand, streaming on the pc and surfing on the tablet all at the same time in the evening with no problems.
I have had vision since feb 2010 same set up no new electrical devices etc .
My vision box is the black box  - not updated to version 2
    Platform/OS Version WinCE/5.0.1400
My Hub is version 2 (The black one with a phone on the front)
I have restarted the hub, power cycled the hub, done a hard reset on the vision box.
I spoke to BT last night and they are sending me new adapters (I had the old white ones) they said that the problem was caused by the adapters and that I should of had mine replaced anyway because they had been recalled.
It was only tonight that it clicked that it was happening at peak times, my speedtests are fine the agent I spoke to last night said my speed was fine at their end.
I took a speedtest before I called again this evening

As you can see I am getting nearly 9 at peak times  more often 10/11ish ( vision also worked fine when my line was a max of 8 until the recent "upgrade").
The video Service quality test also passed.
I asked if the QOS (?)was OK on my line this evening and I was told yes -as in October I had experienced V04 errors due to the upgrade and a damaged wire causing issues with my BB which had caused the portion of line saved for vision to be stuck too low (BTs words) this was apparently fixed. I asked if this was ok and could it be connected this evening and was told no everything is fine.
I'm a bit confused because he started going on about my box  could be deterating and how the new update would fix it but then said the hub and box should last for years. also he said it was the adapters but then mentioned busy times?
Sorry for the long post I am just worrying that I am going to have weeks of different agents saying different things and everytime I ring starting from the begining - I have had similar issues with other problems before and have always found the community here ( and the mods) the most helpful.
So could it be the adapters or is it something else?
(also I'm really worried that this will be used as an excuse to move me on to youview [ I'm not in a infinity enabled area] and if i put my postcode into the checker it says I can't have vision -I don't want to lose ESPN before i have to)

It gets worse at about 20.00 it was still alright so I ran the speed tester and got this:

  • ITunes Festival live streaming not working

Every time I go to the iTunes Festival page in the iTunes Store I keep getting the message of:
"This computer does not support iTunes Festival live streaming."
Why not? Does it only work with apple computers (not windows)?  I wanna watch Paul Simon!!   =D
    -Michael

Lucky for you skalarocks. It's 16th and I still cannot access any of the previosu concerts on iTunes!
I contacted customer support who advised
"I have done some research for you and found that there is a delay in the on demand streaming. "
And then directed me here. I think I am leaning towards an earlier comment about Apple Techs not having a clue.
I suppose they are giving it away so there is no profit in it they wont want to support a fix. Not goign to that much trouble after all skalarocks

  • T -Box Foxtel on demand - playback problems

I have a t box - with a foxtel on t box subscription to essentials and movies - all foxtel Channels including showcase etc stream without problems. However I have had playback problems with some on demand content - in particular Movies - and shows such as game of thrones. They play fine for a few minutes then run slow and without sound. Other on demand shows such as Seinfeld or animated movies playback without a problem. I have set my streaming settings to standard quality. My plan is BigPond® Broadband 200GB Elite - ADSL2+ I just did a speed test and results were
Your line speed is 1.56 Mbps (1558 kbps).
    Your download speed is 195 KB/s (0.19 MB/s).
I suspect the resolution of movies may be a problem however why does the same content stream fine in real time but not via an on demand service? E.g game of thrones. Any suggestions why on demand content may not be steaming even when video settings are standard quality?
Note the t box I am using us relatively old and I have a new one yet to be setup, Are there any additional streaming settings available in the newer units that may address these issues? Suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Reson8
There is a difference in the two streams. Live Foxtel streaming : Quality is based on your speed or bandwidth of your connection, so in other words, the faster the connection the better the quality. This I believe will buffer if your connection speed drops significantly or the quality in picture drops.
On demand streaming : Does not factor in your speed or bandwidth, so when this drops, so does the the picture/sound, and or you get frequent picture freeze.
Feel free to send in your details via private message, so we can take a look at your connection.

i used the f4fpackager on my desktop pc an copy all files  to the vod-folder (test.f4m, test.f4f, test.f4x)
where must i search the problem? in the module or in the packager?
    Many thank for help.

    Hi,
    i found the mistake:
To play a video in OSMF Player, request an F4M file, also called a manifest file. The request syntax for on-demand streaming is:
    http://<server-name>/<location-tag-alias>/<manifest-file-name>.f4m
Note: The syntax is the same for all on-demand use cases.
I tryed to load the test.f4m - File in OSMF - Player with: "vod/test.f4m"
But the correct syntax is with the total URL.
    Thanks!

  • Broadcast, live stream?

Hello. I have a few questions regarding broadcasting live video streams in H.264 encoded format. I am new here and have little knowledge about the topic. What I am interested in is how can I broadcast (multicast?) live video streams over the internet to multiple viewers? I have video content on a HDD, encoded in H.264 which is constantly updating (I add new files, remove old ones and so on, kind of like a TV channel or Internet Radio but with video), I need to feed that content to a live stream server somehow. It should not be an "On Demand" stream, but "live". What software do I need for this? What do I need to broadcast my so-called "live TV" to end users and what software should I use to auto "feed" the server with new content? If you have any thoughts or can give me links to helpful resources I would appreciate it a lot! Thank you!

I already took a look at that software. I don't sure if it fits my needs. Lets say I have a video source which is an uncompressed live stream. I need: to capture that stream, compress it using H.264 encoding, then rebroadcast it. The time buffer I have is 8 hours (I can broadcast the compressed stream after 8 hours after getting the original stream). Now, how do I do it?
