BT Openreach constantly fobbing us off, almost 3 m...

I'm running out of avenues to chase, so thought I'd try a post on here, though judging by the standard of customer service we've had from BT so far I'm not holding my breath...
I've been waiting for almost three months now for a BT Openreach engineer to succesfully install a phone line in the house I've just moved into. Obviously this means we don't have the internet either.
I've met four different engineers, two who have left immediately and two who have hung around, not done very much, then left. All have assured me that they will "be back in a minute, just need to pop round the corner and activate the line". They never return.
We then have a 'Failed Order', wait weeks on end for a new appointment, and then the cycle starts again.
The last engineer we managed to get to leave his mobile phone number and, naturally, when he didn't return we called to find out why. After days of avoiding our calls I finally pinned him down and he didn't seem particularly sorry about not returning when he promised he would.
In addition he then tells me that it's no longer his problem. I keep him on the phone and get him to agree to get his manager to call me up to discuss the issue. Obviously there's no call from his manager. For the rest of the day he ignores my calls. This happened on Friday.
Today I've still not heard anything. About midday I get a dial tone (mostly the phone's been turned off), so I repeatedly call. After about 5 dials I get a text from him saying "Sorry, I am busy. call back later"
I carry on calling and he eventually picks up. No sorry from him or anything. He just says "Well actually I'm in the pub right now so I'm a bit busy"
Again he promises to get his manager to call me and still nothing. Now his phone is off.
What I want is someone to simply come round and install a BT line in our house. We either need a new line, or there is potentially an existing one that can be used (currently dangling, cut, from our roof).
I want to speak to someone about getting this sorted ASAP and I'd also like to complain about the terrible service from BT Openreach all around.

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

  • One agent issue: CTIOS is not prompting about a call and constantly logging itself off

    Hello all,
One agent in the call center is experiencing the following issue:
The coming calll will not ring into the agent's desktop application CTIOS. The softphone(CTIOS)  is not prompting about a call.  ( The coming call will ring into the phone set) .   And the agent is constantly logging itself off.
The phone set's configuration looks O.K...    Anything else I need to check?
Software Version: ICM 6 with CCM4.1
    I appreciate your help.

If this is only one agent I recommend you just save your time and either reformat the computer or change the phone.  You can decide which one needs to be replaced by having another agent on another computer use that phone and then have your bad computer use another phone.

My I Pad 1 constantly drops me off the Internet and programs. Is there any fix for this problem?  It started after the last update and continues to get worse.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If all basic troubleshooting has been tried and a restore as new does not resolve, take it to Apple for evalation and possible replacement.

  • Iphone 5 not charging- constantly on and off charge

I got my Iphone 5 a week ago through Virgin. When connected to a wall plug to charge it sits and constantly/frequently goes on and off charge (buzzing and vibrating when it does this). It seems to work fine when connected via USB to laptop.
I don't carry a laptop with me all the time so I was wondering if anyone knows if this is software or hardware fault. The USB plug itself is also used to charge my IPAD 3 and has no issues- so i cant see where a fault could be...

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • IMac constantly mutes on/off

    I have a 2009 24" iMac with OS X 10.7.4 and 8GB RAM.
I have a problem with the system cycling through mute/unmute constantly, i.e. both in the sound functionality going on and off and the mute/unmute symbol appearing on screen. I thought this was just due to me filling the keyboard buffer by leaning on it, but none of the following measures has stopped this:
    1. Switch off/on bluetooth keyboard;
    2. Disconnect bluetooth keyboard, power off the keyboard and substitute a USB keyboard;
    3. Severla reboot, both by a restart and a cold reboot
    4. Reset the PRAM
The symptom starts as soon at the Mac is running, i.e. at the screen with the user icon/name list, before anyone has logged in. Apart from this, the system seems to be completely usable - no unexplained crashes, slowness etc.
    Thanks in advacne,
    Chris Veitch

Update: I've also tried an SMC reset and deleted the com.apple.soundpref.plist files in the system and user libraries, none of which made any difference.
    Regards,
    Chris Veitch

  • Firefox constantly crashes even with almost all extentions disabled.

For months now Firefox has been crashing regularly. This seems to happen most when I am on pages like Google Images or Google Maps. Each time this happens I get the screen to restart Firefox and submit a crash report. After that process the "this is embarrassing" screen comes up but the tabs listed are old, sometimes by several days. I have disabled nearly every extension / plug-in. I am tired of having to babysit this program. It is a browser and I am just trying to browse the internet. I am not a user with a ton of extensions or other add-ins to Firefox. I use it almost "out of the box". I have had to reset Firefox in the past and I have had times where I have lost all of my open tabs. I am just about to the point of dumping Firefox for a browser which actually works. Firefox has become a very frustrating program to use. It is a browser. The user should not have to bend over backwards to keep it working.
I use Windows Vista Ultimate. I am submitting this from a different computer since Firefox just opens for a minute then crashes over and over and over again.

We need to see your crash reports from your other computer where Firefox is having the issue.
I don't know what OS the other computer is running but I'll put instructions for both Mac and Windows.
    <b>Windows</b>
Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
    <b>Mac</b>
#'''(OS X 10.6 or previous)''' Click the '''Finder''' icon in the dock. Your home folder will be selected. In the right side of the window, click the Library folder to open it. Then open the "Application Support" folder, the "Firefox" folder, the "Crash Reports" folder and finally the "submitted" folder.<br>'''(OS X 10.7 or above)''' Click the '''Finder''' icon in the dock. On the menu bar, click the '''Go''' menu, hold down the '''option''' or '''alt''' key and select '''Library'''. A window will open containing your Library folder. Then open the "Application Support" folder, the "Firefox" folder, the "Crash Reports" folder and finally the "submitted" folder.
#Open the 5 most recent files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.

  • IPhone constantly shuts itself off randomly after 3.1.2 upgrade

So I decided to upgrade my iPhone 3G to the newest software when it was first available and now, inconsistently, it has been shutting itself off.
All I would do is lock the phone, such as after sending a message, and place it in my pocket. When I check it again, I realize it will not turn on, and have to fully power on the thing.
Is this a normal problem? What can I do? Should I downgrade? Is that even possible?
I would just like my iPhone to work like it should, all help is appreciated greatly.

How can I set it as a new iPhone? The last time I reset all the settings and plugged in my phone, all of the information synced itself very quickly, I didnt have an option to restore as a backup or set up a new phone.
You seem to be confusing reseting the settings and restoring the phone. See this Apple support article - Restoring your iPhone... section. (This is also clearly described in the User Guide - bookmarked in iPhone Safari):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
I aslo recommend disabling automatic syncing when connecting your phone. This can be selected on your device summary page or set globally for all devices.
Preferences > Devices > Prevent iPhones and iPods from syncing automatically

  • Powers on then turns off almost immediately - HP 2000-363NR Notebook

I bought an HP laptop 11/25/11. Didn't open or use it until mid last year (currently still has protective plastic on it along with all stickers, etc.) Anyways, just the other day I went to use it, and as soon as I power it on, it immediatly powers off, or if it stays on, the fan kicks on to high speed. There are no beeps when it powers on, and the only lights visable are the power button, ethernet AC port light and a blinking caps lock light. The screen is black so I can't access any bios or anything. So a brand new computer hardly used, and It's out of warranty and doesn't work. Any suggestions?Everything online says it's probably the mother board gone bad. Model: 2000-363NR

  • Ipod constantly turns itself off and requires a restart

I have a 1st generation Ipod Touch 16GB and recently it has begun turning itself off when i'm doing something such as listening to music or using an app and when i turn it back on the Apple logo appears for 2-3 minutes and then the date and time is reset to 1st January 2000 00:00am. I have had it less than a year so it's still under warranty but i don't have the receipt. Any tips on how to fix it are much appreciated.

If that's the case, I'd say call Apple for help processing a return. Can you find a credit card transaction showing the purchase? I get emails from the Apple store when I buy my iPods. I get a receipt at the store, PLUS I have them email me a copy. Good luck

  • Photostream constantly turning itself off

Is it me, or is anyone else noticing this?  I have Photostream turned off, but every so often, I notice that my photos are not downloading from the cloud.  When I check Photostream in the settings, it is turned off.  I am not turning it off, and when this happens, I am turning it back on.  However, after a few days to weeks, it might randomly shut off again.  Is this a known glitch?  Is anyone else seeing/experiencing this?

My workflow is nothing out of the ordinary.  Basically, I open Aperture, import images the traditional way off of my camera and the rest show up, imported via Photostream.  I do my edits and add metadata, then quit.  Sometimes I might run a vault backup.  Since the issue I'm experiencing doesn't happen every time I use the app, I can't say I do anything differently when the issue occurs.  All I can say is that all of a sudden, Photostream is shut off again and I need to activate it in order for it to start working again.  I do not shut it off, so this is happening on its own, or via something behind the scenes.
The issue now is that turning it back on is not working either.  I get the spinning beach ball that spins infinitely.  I need to force quit the application, and when I do, Aperture is listed in red and is not responding.  So, basically I can't even activate Photostream in Aperture at this point.

  • E9120y pc constantly powering on & off continuously before even going to BIOS.

    Dear Sir / Madam,
The PC was working fine except recently it started to power cycle continously, powering on and off without even going to BIOS. The condition remains same after removing the all cards and hard drives. I did not remove the memory modules. Replaced drives and reconnected everything resulting to same result.
    Kindly advise.
    Regards,
    Dipankar

    Dipankar, welcome to the forum.
The symptoms that you are experiencing can be caused by a failing/ed power supply unit (PSU).  Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot it.
Also, if you are comfortable doing so, it would be good to test the memory.  I suggest removing all of it and replacing it one stick at a time and boot.  Here is the Adding/Replacing hardware section for the computer.  There is a section on Replacing RAM (memory).
