BT Proactive Faulty Batch Replacement

Just had a random phone call from BT (presumably. Always on scam alert of course) saying that they have identified we have a YouView box that is from a faulty batch and they want to proactively replace it. An engineer will come in a few days to do the swap.
He said he must point out that we will lose all our existing recordings.
We said ok as it would be foolish not to as our box might just be a disaster waiting to happen. Pity about the half full disk of course.
We have been mostly happy with box so far, apart from the occasional YVM302 and known problems like fast forward sticking etc.
Has anyone heard of such "proactive faulty batch replacement" before.

Hi guys,
I can confirm we are contacting a small number of YouView customers about this and arranging for an engineer visit so that the box can be replaced.
@ joggler if you want we can double-check our records to make sure you're one of the customers affected by this, just pop your details into our "Contact Us" form which you can find by clicking on my username.
Thanks,
Stephanie

  • Are all Imac screens unevenly bright, or just faulty batch?

    Can anyone confirm that they have a 24" Imac that has a uniformly bright screen, i.e. when scrutinizing it with a solid grey or white background, you cannot see any areas of the screen that are noticeably brighter than the others?
    I really want to buy a 24" Imac, but having tried two that had an unacceptable brightness gradient from left to right, and having been told by the Apple Store owner that their display model also has the same ueneveness, plus having read the many posts on this board about the same issue, I am beginning to think that perhaps all the new Imac screens have this problem.
    I'd appreciate it if anyone who owns a 24" alu Imac with a good screen could post in this thread.
    Many thanks!

    Im surprised mrtotes can't see any gradient problems on his Alu iMac! There are VERY few people reporting that their 20" or 24" iMac doesn't have a gradient issue.
    From other iMac customers, including those on these forums, it seems that it is not necessarily a faulty batch, but a range-wide issue. Whether Apple decides to provide a fix for current iMacs and/or produces new batches without the issue, is simply unknown at present.
    I have also read that Apple's response is that the iMac is designed for consumer-level customers and not for professionals. Professionals including graphic designers like myself will likely disagree with this. I am at a graphic design degree course at the moment and my lecturers also disagree with this statement (Especially seeing as all our workstations at university are previous generation iMacs!). The iMacs are definitely acceptable, and probably excellent for non-professional use, but if you're interested in correct colour and brightness levels for things such as design work, then the current generation iMac is now unfortunately not suitable for this sort of professional use.
    I am not providing any facts here, just gathered information. I am awaiting a replacement for my 20" Alu iMac but I am certainly not expecting it to be any different.

  • How do I batch replace footage in Premiere Pro?

    I want to batch replace all my footage. My original files were .mov but I want to replace all of these with .mpeg4. Long story short, I downloaded all original files from dropbox as mpeg4 but have the original project file where the editing was with the .mov files.
    It will take far too long to upload and download the .mov files.
    Is there a way to batch replace all .mov files with these .mpeg4 files?

  • Batch Replace Footage Option? CS6

    HEY!
    I submitted a feature request and wanted to see if anyone else had some interest in this option. I use DUALEYES to sync .WAV files with my DSLR footage so I have high quality audio. When I have the new files, I then replace the original footage that is already imported to the Premiere Pro CS6 project. Without this option, to the best of my knowledge, you have to right click each file and choose replace. Then choose the new file that is labeled MVI_0889_CLEAN.MOV to replace the file MVI_0889.MOV ( The original with a basic scratch audio track. ) This works out great except for the fact I have to do it roughly 300 times for the footage I have imported. Next time I can do this all before starting the project, but this time, it would help out a lot to be able to batch replace.
    Does anyone have a better way of doing this or a way to make this process easier?
    It would be really nice if Premier Pro CS6 could do this processing of syncing audio and video files with clean separately recorder audio files. Dual Eyes saved me so much time, it's odd that Premiere doesn't have this built in. It would help out so much.
    Thanks!
    - Rob

    ExactImage,
    That's a great idea and would work but I would like to have the new file names when imported. I know it isn't a big deal, but it would help me organize which footage is the new synced audio clips and which is the original.
         My original clips with scratch audio is labeled MVI_2345.MOV
         My new clips that have been created with DualEyes are labeled MVI_2345_CLEAN.MOV
    If I go offline and then reconnect the media, I believe all of the clip names will be the same. I do feed my external audio into the 60D via a cable and the H4N audio recorder, so my original clips audio isn't all that bad. I just don't want it to slip through the cracks instead of having the clean HQ .WAV file synced clips in the timeline. That's where the _CLEAN label would help out if a batch replace footage option with a check box that says "Rename clip names to file names" would be excellent. FCP had something similar to this which worked great. You would right click on a clip and choose rename, then you had the option to rename the file to the clip name or the clip name to the file name. It helped out greatly when trying to keep a huge project organized. If we can add this feature to a new batch replace footage option, that would be AMAZING!
    I switched from FCP 7 to Premiere Pro CS6, and what an excellent decision that was. Thank you ADOBE!

  • Batch Replace Images

    I have been working on a project that requires a slide presentation consisting solely of a number of .psd images. While waiting for one final asset from the client, I decided to go ahead and throw together the presentation in Keynote, thinking I could just update the .psd images easily after I finished editing them with the final asset. However, to my dismay, I have learned that Keynote isn't intelligent in this regard to realize when I have updated assets used by it, nor does it give me any tools to accomplish the task of updating an image short of recreating the entire project.
    Is there a way to batch replace images used by Keynote? This seems like an incredibly simple workflow task, but it seems there is no simple way to do it. I found one other thread that suggested looking at the package contents of my .key document, but that doesn't seem to work anymore - the option to view package contents doesn't show up on my context menu.
    I'm going to go ahead and spend the hour recreating this document, but it would be nice to know the answer to this question for future reference! This is something I know even PowerPoint can accomplish... :/

    Welcome to the forums!
    Keynote files are still packages, but the default behaviour for Keynote is to compress them as a ZIP file. If you change the file extension from .key to .zip, then uncompress the result, you will get a folder with the package contents, including the images. To make this back into a standard package, just add the .key extension to the folder (to get the compressed package, first compress the folder, then add the .key).
    You can control whether a package is stored as a single compressed file or not in the Keynote Preferences.

  • Missing PCI serial port driver on elitebook 2560p after faulty motherboard replacement

    Hi,
    I have the following issue, after a faulty motherboard replacement on my elitebook 2560p with Win XP, I find a question mark in the device manager list reporting that a PCI serial port driver is missing.
    Browsing device properties I can read:
    PCI serial port - PCI bus 0, device 22, function 3
    and
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3D&SUBSYS_162B103C&REV_04\3&B1BFB68&0&B3
    I've already tried locating driver without success in SP38312, SP45131, SP53918, unzipping the files and trying to locate manually the driver inside the folders with the windows driver update function.
    can you help locating the correct driver?

  • Batch replacing text (doing translation) in 50+ pretty much identical documents?

    Can I batch replace text for several pdfs when translating 50+ identical documents? Only certain values/numbers differ in each document.
    I am new to Acrobat, and I am currently just copying and pasting between my first translation of a document and the ones I have not translated yet.

    No, and you shouldn't attempt to translate a PDF file directly. This type
    of task should be done on the original file format and then a new PDF file
    should be created.

  • How do I batch replace 100 different linked images in my AI file and export 100 different named PDFs?

    Hi all!
    This is driving me crazy...
    So I have my A4 AI document with a QR code at the bottom (don't ask why I'm using QR codes, client work) and need to replace it and export the A4 poster as a PDF. I need to do this 100 times with 100 different QR codes and save 100 PDFs.
    To summarise I need to,
    Open A4 document (that has artwork already).
    Drop in QR code A near the bottom.
    Export as PDF A.
    Repeat..
    Open main document.
    Drop in QR code B.
    Export as PDF B.
    And so on x100....
    I have a experience with actions in Photoshop but not batch actions or scripts, and obviously need to run it in Illustrator...
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you!

  • Batch replace color with another color

    Hi,
    I would desperately need some assistance in trying to accomplish batch editing of ai-files via JavaScript.
    What I would need to do, is go through a number (many!) of files, find items with certain swatch color (referenced by its name), and replace the item-fill with another swatch-color (also referenced by its name). Then save the document with another name.
    Other parts I have managed to do, except find/compare/modify the fill color of an item.
    I have gone through these forums and tried a number of things to a point where I am currently very confused and frustrated
    Some details (if it helps any), I'm using Illustrator CS3 and JavaScript.
    Here's the closest where I got with trying to find a certain color and eventually changing it:
    #target illustrator
    var sourceFile, findColor, replaceColor;
    sourceFile = new File().openDlg('Please select your Illustrator file…');
    open(sourceFile);
    var docRef = app.activeDocument;
    findColor = docRef.swatches.getByName("vih");
    // replaceColor not yet used anywhere
    replaceColor = docRef.swatches.getByName("sin");
    for(var obj = docRef.pageItems.length - 1; obj >= 0; obj--) {
        if(docRef.pageItems[obj].fillColor == findColor) {
            alert("Match found"); //It never seems to get here, so my comparison clearly is not working?
        else {
            alert ("No specified color found!");
    docRef.close();
    (and yes, I'm completely new with java-scripting, so even this is constructed from bits of sample-scripts and other scripts found from these forums)
    Please, I would really appreciate any help, this can't really be such a difficult task to do... can it?
    BR,
    Johanna

    I only tried a very basic test in my case ALL path items were filled with various CMYK swatches and the swap did take place so the comparison did work. I would suspect that you have a path item that contains NO fill so any of its properties would be undefined. You can also include this in your code too. This should work for both filled and stroked path items in CMYK art.
    #target illustrator
    var docRef = app.activeDocument;
    with (docRef) {
    var findColor = swatches.getByName('vih').color;
    var replaceColor = swatches.getByName('sin').color;
    for (var i = 0; i < pathItems.length; i++) {
    if (pathItems[i].filled == true) {
    with (pathItems[i].fillColor) {
    if (cyan == findColor.cyan && magenta == findColor.magenta && yellow == findColor.yellow && black == findColor.black) {
    $.writeln('True');
    cyan = replaceColor.cyan, magenta = replaceColor.magenta, yellow = replaceColor.yellow, black = replaceColor.black;
    } else {
    $.writeln('False');
    if (pathItems[i].stroked == true) {
    with (pathItems[i].strokeColor) {
    if (cyan == findColor.cyan && magenta == findColor.magenta && yellow == findColor.yellow && black == findColor.black) {
    $.writeln('True');
    cyan = replaceColor.cyan, magenta = replaceColor.magenta, yellow = replaceColor.yellow, black = replaceColor.black;
    } else {
    $.writeln('False');
    //saveAs(filePath, saveOptions)

  • How can I batch replace audio in .avi files without re-encoding?

    I have hundreds of .avi files that have two audio channels. One channel contains the audio from the original video footage, and the other channel contains speech-shaped noise that was added later.
    I need to replace the speech-shaped noise with a different type of noise (multi-talker babble) without re-encoding the video and degrading its quality. I would like to be able to do this in a batch process if possible. Do any of you have an idea about how to approach this in Premiere Pro?
    Some more details: each .avi file is about 2-3 seconds long, so I would need the replacement noise to be the same length as the original noise.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Batch Replace Smart Object With Different Image Quality and Sizes

    Hi there,
    I need help. I have this template that is in 1000x1000pixel and 300 dpi. I'm trying to replace the smart object inside with various JPEG that I have. These JPEG comes in large image sizes but lower than 300dpi. The issues is, when I run the script that I have, some of the pictures become really pixelated. Beforehand, I resized them to fit into the empty place in sizes that I find fit the best (8 cm x 6 cm). Some of them work okey, but then some of them just pretty bad. I'm wondering if you can help me fix the script that I have so I didn't have to resized the images before running the script, and for all of them to automatically fit into my template without altering the quality of the image that I put in.
    below is the script that I am using and the screenshot of my template:
    #target photoshop
    if (app.documents.length > 0) {
    var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
    var theName= myDocument.name.match(/(.*)\.[^\.]+$/)[1];
    var thePath = myDocument.path;
    var theLayer = myDocument.activeLayer;
    // psd options;
    psdOpts = new PhotoshopSaveOptions();
    psdOpts.embedColorProfile = true;
    psdOpts.alphaChannels = true;
    psdOpts.layers = true;
    psdOpts.spotColors = true;
    // check if layer is smart object;
    if (theLayer.kind != "LayerKind.SMARTOBJECT") {alert ("selected layer is not a smart object")}
    else {
    // select files;
    if ($.os.search(/windows/i) != -1) {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", "*.psd;*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.tif", true)}
    else {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", getFiles, true)};
    if (theFiles) {
    // work through the array;
    for (var m = 0; m < theFiles.length; m++) {

    executeAction( idplacedLayerReplaceContents, desc3, DialogModes.NO );
    return app.activeDocument.activeLayer

    Thank you for your answer.
    I was resizing it before from bigger image size to a smaller one (121 cm to 8 cm) which fit my template size. But the dpi remains in 72 which makes the picture pixelized.
    I am wondering if I can find a script that will keep the size of the first image that I put on the template for other images that I place, regardless the size they are imported to. Basically, how to make them all fit into the template regardless the size.
    Thank you for the info about the scripting forum. I will write there too.
    Sorry, I'm so new to this

  • Batch replacing files in After Effects

    I have a project that is a series of time lapse shots that was edited in Final Cut Pro.  I used jpegs that I created from the original raw files (.cr2) to do the edit.  I used Automatic Duck to send the edit to After Effects (CS5) to do some things I am unable to do in FCP and I want to replace the jpegs with the raw files for color correction.  When I select multiple jpegs in my project window, I am unable to replace any of the clips.  If I select a single jpeg, I can bring up the replace window and I'm left with 2 options.  The first is creating an image sequence, which will work for some of my shots (although I still have put those back in the composition, essentially re-editing the piece), but for many of the others, I don't use all of the images in the time lapse or skip some here and there.  I also mix frame lengths in several sequences, using varying lengths of 1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s, etc so having AE create an image sequence from the raw files doesn't work.  The other option is replaing each file one by one but with thousands of images, that is not really an option.  I tried the Immigration script from aescripts.com but that doesn't do what I need it to do either.  I'm sure the solution is right under my nose, but any help is greatly appreciated.

    Again, thanks for your help but still nothing seems to work.  I've emailed the people at aescripts.com to see if their scripts can help me.
    Here is a more detailed description of my workflow just in case anyone that has any insight can help.
    I have a bunch of time lapse shots and animations that were shot with a Canon 5D in RAW format to retain the best color space possible.  Using Adobe Lightroom, I processed the RAW files into jpegs for editing but I only processed the ones I was going to use in the edit (this is important later).  I used Final Cut Pro for my edit.  I took these 5616x3744 jpegs and put them in 4k sequences.  I adjusted the frame durations, some on 1s, 2s, 3,s etc, and nested those in a HD sequence for editing and animating.  Once I had finished the edit, I used Automatic Duck to send the project to After Effects to apply some effects, some animation that can't be done in FCP and to do the final color grade.  I need to replace all of those jpegs with the original RAW files.  Using the replace/relink tools already in After Effects, I can either do it one file at a time, which will take forever and isn't something I have time to do or I can have AE create image sequences.  The problem with the image sequence option is that it uses all of the RAW files when I only need some of them, I can't have varying frame durations and I have to essentially re-edit/animate the project since it just places the image sequence in the project window and not the timeline/comp.  I've tried every variation of making AE think files are offline but I'm still only left with the one by one or image sequence options.

  • Faulty batch of 20" iMacs?

    Hi,
    I am pretty new to Apple, i have recently started as a LAN admin at a company that does pre press work and has amongst other computers and servers about 12 iMacs, a mixture of 17, 20 and 24" iMac intel units.
    I have 4 off the 20" units and I have 2 of them that have the same fault, they run for a period of time fine then the display just crashes the mouse still moves but the screen is unresponsive, you can ssh to them and the num lock turns on an off.
    I have reset prams, rebuilt the operating systems, these two units have about a week of my life in them. i and my apple vendor have come to the conclusion the video lodgic controler is faulty.
    If this was a basic clone intel pc with a $100 video card i wouldn't think twice and would just replce it but the cards for an apple are $1500! so that pretty much writes off a 20 month old imac.
    *However I don't just have one like this i have two,* which leads me to deduce that in the next couple of months the other two will die. i will then have 4 dead iMacs!
    I thought i would vent here and see if this is a known "bug" how many other people out there have 20" iMacs with dodgy video controllers that are getting this type of bill at 20 months of age
    the serial numbers are W86310TNU2P and W86310U4U2P and they have the ATY, Radeon X1600 Display adaptor. anyone else found a fix or had the same fault ? other than the obvious buy a new card, or a new iMac..
    I know that if I ever sign the capex for an iMac i will definitly be looking into extended warranties ! The mac purists in the office tell me the hardware is awesome .. well 20 months for a video controller worth $1500 is awful performance!

    Hello. Sorry to hear that your having issues with two of your iMacs. I have the same model and no issues whatsoever. If troubleshooting on your own does not lead to resolve than I would try Applecare. It is well worth $169 (unless education disc. applies) to get it as you get 3 years of both hardware coverage (excluding accidental damage) and phone support. Does the apple hardware test bring up any errors? If you've reloaded the software by doing an erase and install, then tested without installing any software or hardware, just the basics, than it would indicate hardware. And than if it is not peripherals than it would be the imacs. Sorry if this is info that you already know or steps you performed... Also with applecare you get onsite repair if you do not wish to have it taken in for repair. And since its the early 08 you should be in the first year and qualify for the Applecare.
    But the steps I would take is basically what you did or probably did.
    Run the AHT (hardware test) press D on startup or hold option down on bootup with install disc 1 in and choose aht. (extended test)
    Erase & Install
    Don't install anything else.
    Try to reproduce the issue.
    If that doesnt narrow it down maybe go for the APP so that you do not have to pay for any repairs....
    its kinda odd that you have two imacs with sn's that far apart in manufacturing that you have these issues. but again i apologize if this was not helpful. Good Luck.

  • Batch replace a colour with another colour

    I have over 100 documents. In these documents, some of the objects use a regular black colour (e.g. C0, M0, Y0, K100). I need to replace it as a rich black (e.g. C75, M68, Y67, K90). The regular black colour is NOT saved as a swatch, so I can't just update the swatch. The objects are made of paths and shapes, some of which are in groups.
    I found a script here and have updated it to suit my needs (The original script requires you to select an object, my update automatically selects all objects in the file). It works fine on a simple document that has a few layers. However, on more complex documents that have multiple nested layers, I get the following error:

    It's ok.
    But you are right, I was a little bit frustrated. Because of: no feedback is the "worst" feedback.
    And like I said before, your question isn't easy to answer. To check the difficult you can start with this little snippet:
    var aDoc = app.activeDocument;
    //var pI = aDoc.pageItems;
    //var pILen=pI.length;
    // please select some items before running this script snippet
    var pI = aDoc.selection;
    var pILen=pI.length;
    var item;
    for (i=0;i<=pILen-1;i++) {
        item = pI[i];
        $.writeln("item "+i+":  "+item.typename);
        $.writeln("clipped =  "+item.clipped);
        if (item.typename == "PathItem") {
            // if GroupItem --> loop through the groupItems.pathItems
            // if CompoundPathItem --> loop through the CompoundPathItems.pathItems
            $.writeln(item.fillColor)
            $.writeln(item.strokeColor)
            $.writeln(item.filled)
            $.writeln(item.fillColor.color)
            if (item.filled == true && item.fillColor.typename == "CMYKColor" ) {
                alert("item "+i+"  fillColor:  "+item.fillColor.typename);
            if (item.stroked == true && item.strokeColor.typename == "CMYKColor" ) {
                alert("item "+i+"  strokeColor:  "+item.strokeColor.typename);
    Please select some items before running this script snippet (otherwise it may takes a long time).
    And please, check your JavaScript console in ESTK after running this script.
    I know, this can't be a correct answer, but perhaps this is a little bit helpful for the beginning.

  • Faulty Router Replaced - many dropouts a few month...

    Hi there, I have seen many posts where users max speed has been dropped at the exchange. I understand this is to manage poor links and ensure QOS rather than raw speed with faults...
    I had 330/20 configured which was fine for over a year.... then I had problems with my ASUS router, switching off/rebooting... and I saw that my max speed on speedchecker diagnostics was reduced from 330 to 212... (yes I know it's still very fast compared to many!)...
    I have replaced my router now
    What do I do to enquire about a reset. I note that forum mods can arrange this but only based on me doing something first... please advise (I am fairly sure I need to give screenshots of run-diagnostics page 3 days apart)
    Regards, Jed
    Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else

    It should reset automatically within 2 weeks, but to get it reset on DSL you need an engineer's visit in response to a fault. Sorry I don't know about FTTP.
