BT Prob with PC Suite - not in windows itself.

Hi everybody.
After a fresh Installa of Nokia PC Suite 6.85.14.1 on my Windows XP Prof. SP2 PC I cannot connect from PC Suite to my Nokia 6230i.
after entering the pairing key, my phone saysK but my PC says: "Phone cannot be authenticated".
If I connect from Windows directly everything works fine.
To me it seem to be an incompatibility between PC Suite and Phone ?
My Stacks are:
- Microsoft (Version: 5.1.2600, Erstellt am: 2180)
- Broadcomm (Version: 3.0.1, Erstellt am: 912)
I am using the Windows Stack. (Broadcomm does not work)
PC is a IBM Lenovo R52 Thinkpad with built-in BT Hardware.
PLEASE HELP !!!

Ok, that is interesting. For some reason if seems you have failed to install Nokia PC Suite properly, PC Suite applications do not work at all, if the connectivity solution is missing.
My advice:
through control panel - add/remove programs look for Nokia PC Suite and the connectivity cable driver and uninstall both.
Then make sure you have downloaded the latest pc suite (6.85.14.1) and now install that.
After installtion, if still problems, check the installed programs list again in add/remove programs to check if a thre 3 elements I listed exist

  • Problems with Gummiboot (does not find Windows)

    Hello All,
Today I'm in Spain installing Arch to my parents. Unfortunately I'm not able to make Gummiboot to find Windows 8...
For sure it's my fault and I made something wrong...
Can someone help me with this please? I will leave tomorrow morning but I still have access remotely to the computer).
    [angarrub@myArchEsp ~]$ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
    sda 8:0 0 465,8G 0 disk
    ├─sda1 8:1 0 350M 0 part /run/media/angarrub/Reservado para el sistema
    ├─sda2 8:2 0 230,4G 0 part /run/media/angarrub/Nuevo
    ├─sda3 8:3 0 1G 0 part /boot

    ├─sda5 8:5 0 175G 0 part /home
    └─sda6 8:6 0 9G 0 part [SWAP]
I'm quite sure that the problem is that I created another EFI partition (for not touching anything from Windows installation) and installed Gummiboot there. I would like to know what to do to create the entry for Windows and boot normally from /dev/sda1.
Please, do not hesitate to ask me whatever you need meto fix this.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    bcdedit /set {ID} path \linux.bin
    bcdedit /displayorder {ID} /addlast
    bcdedit /timeout 30;
Keep in mind you'll have to set your Windows Device to Bootable not your Syslinux boot device.
    Syslinux
pacman -S syslinux # or pacstrap syslinux base base-devel /w installation
nano /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg # LABEL arch >> root=/dev/sda[X] X being your linux root device
    syslinux-install_update -i -a -m;
mkdir /mnt/sda[Y] # Y being your Windows HD Device

    dd if=/dev/sda[X] of=/mnt/sda[Y]/linux.bin bs=512 count=1 # X being your linux BOOT device && Y being your Windows HD Device
Writeout your linux boot partition to your Windows HD, again having your Windows MBR device as bootable in cfdisk not your linux boot device.
[X] and [Y] should translate to a number.
Of course this is backwards, using windows to boot linux.
    Hope that helps.
Ok, so if I understood everything ok... in that HD with both EFI partitions I should:
    uninstall grub/gummiboot
    install syslinux on /dev/sda1
configure two entries: one for arch /dev/sda3 and the second for Windows on /dev/sda1
    And should work?
And... one question... I was trying to mount the 350mb partition (windows one, /dev/sda1) but I couldn't find the efi files... maybe I was doing something wrong because the only things that looks like a boot files are inside windows/boot folder...
I can try to connect remotely and check it later if you need more information.
Thanks a lot, really, best community ever!

  • Lots of Update probs with NSU, why not include Bac...

Yes i'm back on here to voice a few concerns..
Firstly i've noticed a lot of threads on here regarding bricked phones when people have innocently been using NSU to upgrade the firmware on there phones.
I also have a similar experience with an N70 - went to upgrade through NSU, its downloaded the update, and whilst applying it, the pc said no phone connected (even though there was nothing near it), so i ended up with a goosed phone, with no way of updating it or reverting back to the original firmware...
So why don't Nokia include a mechanism in NSU which as part of the upgrade process Backs up the current firmware before updating. If it fails, then a least NSU could reapply the original one.
How about Nokia implement a Memory Card solution (for the phones that support it), avoid cable probs altogether, and include an image which you can transfer onto a Memory Card and update the firmware that way?
Come on Nokia, Connecting people is your logo, yet your NSU is disconnecting the same people good and proper...
    Nuff Said.

Good point there, but I personaly think that a FW backup/rollback implementation like you mentioned would be a lot trickier to realistically implement, since after the updates are downloaded and firmware flashing is started, nokia really has little to no control of what happens in between the flashing part and the "phone dying" part. ;p
Also, isn't it detailed in the NSU instructions somewhere that firmware cannot be rolled back to a previous version? But, it can be done at a Care Point (with special equipment, I presume).
Not even the other phone manufacturers can do the same at this time (i.e. software-controlled FW rollback).

  • Probs with connecting to itunes on windows after using a mac previously.

I had an iBook in the past and only connected my 60gb iPod through that, recently i've had problems with my iBook so its being repaired. So that i could add music to my iPod, i set up iTunes on my mothers laptop windows) and spent maybe £90 on songs to completely update my collection, but when i tryed to connect my iPod to it, a box just pops up saying "in order to sync this ipod, you will need to restore it" which of course i dont want to do, as i will loose the 2000 songs i already have on it, which i won't beable to put back as all of those songs are on my original source (ibook).
If anyone knows why this is happening, or has any tips to help, i would be so grateful. Thanks very much
    C

I also reccomend MacDrive, but if you have a friend who has a Mac, maybe you can use some third party software and 'back-up' your music using software that will rip music from iPod to computer. Now that you have raw mp3's or m4p's you can use a hard drive, add those songs to your mom's computer, and there ya go, all your songs, requires a lot of hardware, and maybe if you dont have a friend with a mac, sneak into one of them Apple Stores, when the sales associates are busy, and you can do whatever you want on their computers.

  • Open Mail.app with growl notification not the mail itself

Hello, with an incoming mail the OSX growl notification appears. But it links (when clicking on it) to the Mail in a new window. Can I change this so it will open the "complete" Mail.app not only the mail in single view?

    Try resetting your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Firefox will not respond, window itself is working.

I am able to minimize, maximize, restore down, and close firefox, but I can click nothing. I can not go to tools or edit the menu or anything. As a result I tried upgrading to firefox 4, but this changed nothing. I'm currently using AVG antivirus and iobit advanced system care. I tried to fix it by thoroughly scanning with these two, but this resolved nothing. I found a guy who said his fix was using software called wisefix, but I don't want to pay for it.
    What do I do?

I have same issue - AVG not installed. However I do have Microsoft Security Essentials installed. I've read in another post that Norton may be to blame. Could it be that FF4 doesn't play well with antivirus software?

  • Problem with PC Suite and Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit

I installed PC Suite on my desktop with Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit installed.  I was able to eventually run PC Suite (granted it needed to run in XP SP2 compatibility mode) and sync my calendar on my W518a cell phone with PC Suite via Bluetooth communications.  After I turned off my computer and restarted it, I could no longer open up PC Suite...its icon appears in my system tray with a red X over it as if it can't find the program.
The SonyEricsson website indicates PC Suite can run with Windows 7.
What is causing the problem I am having?  How do I get this corrected?

I have downloaded and reinstalled the PC Suite software.  Although it is not working as well as it should, as long as I have my cell phone on with Bluetooth enabled prior to clicking on the icon to open the application, it seems to work OK.  Otherwise, when it opens, it just hangs and the only way you can close the program is to get into Task Manager and force it closed when its status is showing as "Not Responding".  I also have found that just "closing" the PC Suite window does not close the application...you have to click on the option to "Exit the Application" otherwise you continue to have it in your system tray with a red X over the icon.

  • Nokia PC Suite running on Windows 7 (64 bit) with ...

Can you give us a date for when we will be able to sync our calendar and contacts from MS Outlook 2010 64 bit with PC Suite!?
OVI Suite support for this might be acceptable, but far from optimal as this program is pretty similar to using a 18 wheel monster truck to transport a pint of milk from the fridge to the dining-table..... somewhat bloated and way beyond what I need or want!
Please put some people on solving this issue, as it would indeed make more than one customer happy...and might indeed make for some new ones or make existing customers return...

Thank you to all. Finally found an answer to what is going on here between laptop Vaio w/ Windows 7 64 bits and PC Suite, have not installed Ovi Suite, and  will hold to do it until further news from Nokia.
Let me just tell you all my problem. It is as simple as not being able, once installed PC Suite v7, to have the connection with my E63. NO WAY JOSE, that PC Suite nor the computer, find the equipment. Get an error message stating that, no phone is connected.
I am sick and tired of this messages.
Agree with you on the fact that Nokia should do something to solve the problem with 64 bits, as most of the computers, laptops, nowadays come with 64bits.
I can see you get the connection but have some other problems.
If any of you can give me some hint what to do, will appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance.

What version of Vista do you have? 32bit or 64bit? I have a 32bit Vista Ultimate and PC Suite works fine.

  • New E61 will NOT synchronize with PC Suite

    Hello,
I have a new E61 (V2 firmware, SFR pack in France).
I use Windows XP 2 and have the latest version of PC Suite - 6 82 22 0
My first attempt at synchronizing via USB cable stopped very quickly. Message on the phone said operation failed. Log shows no transfers took place.
I have tried again and again and again. Relaunching PC Suite, disconnecting the phone and reconnecting, shutting off the phone and turning it back on. The Synchronize icon doe not react at all (all other icons react when you click on them).
What to do? I am at a loss, I have been at this for hours..
    Thanks for the help.

In the setting in Calender edit if a new calender is created then this new calenders do not sync. plese give a soloution how to sync all the calender with the PC suite to create a backup in the computer.
even with ovi suite it does not sync all the different calendars. in theory, this is a great idea to have the calendars, and in actuality, was one of my first reasons for wanting the n900....but they do not sync.
in order to use the diferent colors, i actually have to duplicate some of my items so i can tell at a glance.  but anything that i want synced to my outlook has to be in the standard "n900" calendar.
ovi suite was supposed to allow for syncing the multiple calendars, but it didnt...actually, it just made quite a mess of my calendar and contacts, and TAKES FOREVER TO SYNC!!!!  so then i thought, maybe it is just syncing all the calendars to my ovi account,.....nope.
so if you do attempt to take the time to try the ovi suite, which you can get www.nokia.com/ovisuite i would make sure that you make a duplicate of your pst file before you try it, so if you need to, you can replace the pst file back and then go back to pc suite and "replace all data on device" to get it all back the way you had it.
if you do figure out how to make it sync all the calendars, please do share.  i have spent HOURS on this alone and with nokia in beta's etc to get it to work, to no avail!

Help! my windows PC with Vista will not dowload itunes 10.7.  It gives me an error message: Your system has not been modified.I
I have tried unistalling the current version I had which was 10.6.3, defragging and running a security scan. Now, the highest version I can get is 10.4.1. for some reason I cannot dowload itunes 10.5 or higher as it gives me the same message which is what I need to connect and update my iphone.  Anyone facing the same issue or can point me in the right direction?

You may get better information on that error message by reposting in the iPhone forums:

It's also possible that newer iPhone updates want an OS higher than Tiger. Post the specs of your computer and we can see if an OS upgrade is possible. There are a large number of G4 variants with different capabilities, so giving us something more than  just "G4" will get you help faster.

If your ipod has version 2.0, you need iTunes 7.7. I know 1.1.x worked on 7.6, and I can only assume it worked with 7.4 and 7.5. (I got my ipod in late may '08). And I'm not a Windows user...

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.
