BT- Probably the most useless company in the world...

After 2 or 3 years of hell with this company and nobody willing to help I thought I would write here so anybody else thinking of joining BT will make the correct decision and stay as far away as possible.
Firstly after moving house 3 times and being told we would not need an engineer visit when moving and would not be charged they still decided to take the cost of an engineer visit out of our bank account(about £130) all 3 times 2 of which took us overdrawn in our bank account incurring £25 costs and damaging our credit rating. Did anybody at BT care, NO! Managed to get our money back but obviously not the charges incurred from our bank or the damage to our credit score.
We have now moved house again and been without Internet for 2 months. They claim they cannot re connect the line as someone else owns it. This is probably the most stupid thing I have ever heard the person who used to live here isn't exactly going to magic back into the house and start using it again. We could have another line connected at our own cost. Obviously they have still been charging us for a service we have not had which again we had to call and get refunds for. Does anybody at care, NO!
So we still have no Internet. We finally managed to get them to see some sense after some very long and tedious phone calls they eventually assured us all our services would be active by the 30th of July. As I sit here today not to my surprise we still have no Internet and no phone line. After another long phone call they tell us we will have Internet by the 7th of august although were not holding out any hopes.
After reading online it seems many people have the same  issues. BT are obviously not capable of looking after any of its customers, even long standing customers such as ourselves. Even when we decided enough was enough and wanted to cancel our service all together we could not do that unless we paid them £230 or something similar.
We will of course be leaving BT at the earliest opportunity when we are not tied to the stupid contracts we have had to start again each time we move house. Had it Up to the eyeballs with the poor service and them robbing money from our bank account. I would advise anybody else to stay as far away from BT as possible.
Shame on you BT.

A new iPod will connect to your computer and load whatever you have in iTunes. If the PC has been authorised to play purchased songs you don't need to do it again, it's the computer that requires authorisation not the iPod.

Why is apple - the most innovative company that pioneered customer experience- not making it easier to find out if IPhone is locked or unlocked? it should be simple to find this status on the phone. I have to go thru so much trouble to find out if the phone is unlocked or not. There should be a much simpler solution to this.

call them, tell them you NEED a new battery installed, and they need to tell you when they can do it.  That is their job to help you! Give pushback if necessary.

Long story short....I restored my computer to an earlier point using time machine and now all of the previous back-ups are gone. My question has to do with itunes...is it possible to restore my itunes library to the most recent backup because the restore that I did was in march and the latest backup was in may....the reason being is that there were app that i had downloaded that are in my most recent back-up, that were not in the backup I restored to. Is it possible to just restore one application ie)itunes?

  • The most worrying aspect of the N97

The N97 is the opposite of everything that it supposedly advertises itself as. My handset has developed yet another bug. Whenever i receive an incoming call, a volume slider bar appears and fluctuates up and down, whilst emitting an horrendous " Beeping " noise, which usuually results in the call being terminated.
I was just thinking of this....
Surely the most worrying aspect of the unit's unreliability, is the fact that 02, and Orange refused to stock it, and the handset is only ever available as a "Sim-Free"option via Phones4u/Carphone Warehouse, with both parties supplying the network sim.
I believe T-Mobile, Vodafone and Three stock the units, and am led to believe by friends that work in Mobile-Retail, that large quantities of N97's have been returned.

I was told by orange customer service that the N97 failed their testing twice but the advisor could not be specific as to exact reasons. Have to say that to date mine has been ok in the main with just the occasional minor niggle, but I had the same experience with my N95 8gig and nokia sorted it. I am keeping my fingers crossed they do the same with the N97 too.

Hello! Just connected a used iPhone to iTunes for the first time. I'm trying to restore it to factory settings/default. The phone is connected via Wi-Fi and is updated to the most recent OS that the phone allows. The computer is also connected to the internet. But I still get the error: "itunes could not contact the iphone software update server because you are not connected to the internet." I also connected via iTunes and authorized the computer, but still have the same issue. Really, all I need to do is completely wipe the phone and start from scratch for safety's sake.
    Help?

  • Photos/Fotos: One of the most important selection features the is "Star" rating. How on earth can you stop supporting this feature ???

One of the most important selection features the is "Star" rating.
How on earth can Apple stop supporting this feature ???
My iPhoto lib contains >100´000 photos. All of them are rated with stars. Dependent on the rating I distribute the photos on >20 apple devices in our family.
Many friends of mine do the same.
It´s time for a severe request to Apple to take over that feature from iPhoto to Photos. They should start to learn, that people that liked their previously released software have spent hundreds of hours to adapt their data with that software to their needs. I´m using Mac´s since 1984. Might be that I start thinking about using different systems if they continue to through away my efforts from the past...
If you dislike Apples latest moves and like this feature too you need to provide feedback to them on the following web page: www.apple.com/feedback

Remember that star ratings are not part of standard metadata.

cor-el, thank you so much. That fixed it, but does this mean I can't use AVG Safe Search. Is there a substitute? I do like the security (hopefully real) that it offers. What now? How do I get out of Safe Mode?

  • On the most upper left of the Title Bar (the part where the x box is on the right side) where the Firefox icon should be (on the upper left corner) I have a printer icon instead. Why did that happen and how do I change it? Thanks for any help.

I don't actually have an answer for you, but ditto on changing things that aren't broken. Drives me crazy!!

  • Most Useless Post Of The Day...

As I was playing with the phone after the update, just for grins, I hit "settings/about phone" and pressed "check for updates".
I swear, I thought I heard the phone laughing at me.

Here's the dumb question of the day right here..
My Droid X is on its way to me for delivery.  Should I immedietely download the upgrade once I activate the phone before doing anything?  Probably makes the most sense to do that... then I can start 100% fresh with it..

  • What are the most common questions in the forums?

I have my own ideas about what are the questions we see asked over and over and over again in here. Everyone post your ideas here so we can compile a FAQ and maybe post it somewhere (Virum, your new site? :) )

Please do my homework/coursework/think for me
This has to be by far the most common type of question asked on the forums.
    Classpath questions
    HashCode questions
Pointer vs Reference Debate (totally spurious but people spew 100's of pages arguing about something that is perfectly obvious)
A very good Thread that is probably 1000's of entries long by now is the
"How to get your questions answered promptly" one (or however this is called). A recap of that published somewhere would be of tremendous value, especially if it was presented as a page you had to go through before landing in the forums to post your latest "Java Challenge" aka "do my coursework" on the boards.

  • What is the most unobtrusive case for the touch...

...the most minimal (or least maximal).
    Thanks

I would probably say a clear case or smoke colored case. Search on the online Apple Store, you'll probably find plenty of each.

  • My phone was not sealed in my waterproof case correctly. It was in my hand underwater for at the most a minute.  The case is off and its in a bag of white rice sealed. HELP!

HELP MY PHONE HAS WATER DAMAGE! IT WAS UNDERWATER FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE AT THE MOST. IT WASN'T SEALED PROPERLY IN MY WATERPROOF CASE. HELP PLEASE!

If it was underwater for about a minute, then you can probably figure it is finished. If you have it in rice, you can leave it there for about a week and see if that will help, but I doubt it. I would just take it to Apple and get an out of warranty replacement. The cost for an iPhone 4 is $149, US. Check to see what it is where you might be.

Solving MSVCR80 issue and Windows iTunes install issues.
If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.
