BT SmartTalk - only the called party can interrupt...

I'd appreciate any comments on the following problem I'm having with the BT SmartTalk app on a Samsung S2 phone. The problem is that when I call someone, they can interrupt me but I can't interrupt them. This makes for a very stilted and one-sided conversation.
I'd like to know if this is peculiar to my particular phone, or whether SmartTalk is always like this. 
I still have BT Broadband Talk on my BT Broadband account and I can run this from the same phone using SipDroid. What I find is that the calls using this are far superior and it works just like a normal phone call. 
SmartTalk is a great idea and I was hoping that it would be a substitute for Broadband Talk when BT eventually withdraw it but like this it's just not comfortable to use.

Thanks for the info. I contacted the moderators about the issue last week and had a response today saying "I have contacted the Smart Talk product team and asked them to have a look into this. As soon as I hear something back I'll call or email and let you know."

"Many thanks for responding. I hope you can get the issue resolved because BT SmartTalk is a potentially excellent system but with a fatal flaw. <snip>
To demonstrate the main problem:
1. Call a landline from a Samsung S2 mobile phone using the BT SmartTalk app.
2. Tell the called party to start counting steadily and continuously from one to ten.
3. While he's counting, try to interrupt.
4. The result: you get no response until he stops after 'ten'.
5. Repeat the test the other way round - you count and he interrupts. This time he stops you immediately he speaks.
I've made many tests like this to numbers in the UK while I've been in the UK and the USA using my Samsung S2. With BT SmartTalk, every call has suffered from the one-way effect. In contrast, BT Broadband Talk (via the SIPDroid app), Skype, and Viber all give proper symmetrical duplex (using the same phone and same called number).
I find that call quality is mostly excellent with BT Broadband Talk, good with Skype, and poor with Viber. Call clarity with BT SmartTalk is as good as BT Broadband Talk, but the lack of proper duplex makes it unpleasant to use."

    This is an annoying problem for many people. Most likely your dock connector (on the bottom where you plug in your phone) is dirty or screwed up and is probably just coincidence that it happened after you updated. Some people have had success cleaning the port with a dry clean tooth brush. There is a long discussion going on at the thread I linked below. Good luck...

    Because the "Recents" is limited to exactly 100 calls, by design...nothing to do with the size of your phone. Tell Apple if you liked to see it increased:

    Works perfectly fine for me with the latest Reader version (11.0.09).
    You write that it worked "before"; before what?  An update?  Update from what version to what version?

    Thanks you. Problem is solved. The cable wasn't plugged in properly.
    In spite of video rendering smoothly, audio started coming only when I disconnected the cable and plugged it in hard.
    Perhaps I was pampering my phone too much

  • Do you experience low volume from the calling party in phone calls?

    I have my iPhone for about 9 days now. Prior to yesterday, I did not experience any problem with the volume.
    What' happening is this: when a caller calls in, the volume of the caller is so small, that I really can't hear at all! It is annoying as I receive calls from clients. And I had to look for another phone to call back the any callers, or turn on my speaker. These solutions are temporary. I had tried increasing the "ringer" volume to maximum, using the controls on the top left side of the iPhone. Still the volume was so soft. Prior to yesterday, the caller's volume was loud and clear! I suspect something went wrong with my soundcard, or something. I off and on my iPhone, but it does not solve the problem.
    I wonder if others faced the same problem? And any ways I can rectify the problem?

    The earpiece volume for phonecalls on my 3GS has been weak since day 1. I have the volume for earpiece calls set to full and it is still hard to hear the person on the other end unless I am in a really quiet room. It shouldn't be like this... max volume should be too loud to use 95% of the time, if you are using any device at max anything it indicates that the device was underspecified... do you drive your car at redline on the tach all the time? No, it is just for very rare occassions when you really need to outrun a tornado...

    Thx for the reply(s). Yes, English does work. I too, think it is the recipient's carrier, however, I was testing with another person on AT&T, and he at least gets the txt, which is a series of square characters, as he has only English on his BB. Others on AT&T and Verizon are not receiving anything at all.

    Dear rack29
    Two options are there
    1)  Dont give the authorization for change mode, ie.XD02, MM02 etc, for the said users, which your Basis team can do.  Here you dont have the facility to make any particular field grey / hide etc., 
    2)  Create a Transaction / Field Variants via SHD0 make the required controls and hand over to end users.

  • Can FF tables be locked so that only the FF jobs can update them?

    Can the FF log tables (/VIRSA/ZVIRFFLOG, /VIRSA/ZFFTNSLOG, /VIRSA/ZFFCDHDR) be somehow locked so that only the Log Update job (/VIRSA/ZVFATBAK) is allowed to update them?
    If not, can change logging be turned on for these tables so that it tracks who/what is making changes to these tables?
    We are on version GRC 5.3 SP13.

    Using SCU3, you can log the table activity. Refer the below link:

    However, if you have maintained the authorization strictly with the authorization groups, tables can't be modified by any other users.
    If you further want to restrict, consider implementing S_TABU_NAM authorization object.
