BT Sport - only works if wired?

So , reading these forum messages there appears to be a clear outcome...
BT sport doesn't work with power lines nor WIFI.
I've tried both and no cigar. And that's just crazy with a download of 47 and upload of 8.
I've also connected a spare airport express to the Humax you view - doesn't help even though it enables almost the full IP profile.
I've tried it with my time capsule and then with home hub. Still no cigar ( ok, that's the last time ill use a smoking reference)
No issues at all with any other service .
C'mon BT make it work or there's no reason to buy the additional TV services.

Multicast requires HH to work
(Before a pedant comes along I am aware some people can use other routers but in general it is HH or nothing)

Shutter release tools /volume shutter only work in the native camera?

This is so depressing. I have two different shutter release tools, one wired and one wireless. I LOVE them, because I am simply too shaky-handed and it ensures a stable picture. Combine with a tripod, and life is good.
Except... it appears from my limited experience that remote shutter release tools only work in the native camera app... is this true? Is there something going on that makes it impossible for developers of camera apps to exploit the volume button shutter trigger (which is how the shutter release tools work), one of those "Apple Only" deals, or are they just neglecting to include the ability in their apps when they could? try
I try everything I can, I am a dedicated checker of special freebies on apps, so I have LOTS of camera apps, most of which I haven't even cracked open yet. But on the few I have tried, no go with the shutter release, and I'm totally frustrated since it means I have to choose between camera apps with great features, or my handy dandy remote release tools.
Anyone have any cheering answers? Should I write to developers? Do they have the option?

Camera+ allows you to take photos with the volume button so it is possible. I would write to developers of the apps you want to use and let them know that you would like to see the function in an update.

For example, with the Digital AV Adapter I can watch video on my TV, but obviously it's wired.

I am now beside router - no problem, but go 20 metres and WiFi becomes unstable. Only way to get either to work is disable WiFi either as a Hot Spot or turn it off and use the 3G connection. This worked with 4.3 & 4.3.2 what has gone wrong? I raised it at the Apple Store in Belfast as a problem but was told that there was no problem with Apple but I must have a faulty router - yeah - that's a lot of faulty routers, my home, my office, my holiday home, Starbucks, my friends house, my son's house. I've tried all the 'fixes'. I think it is a plan to force us to buy Apple Routers

Two ways out, I added two more Belkin Access Points in my house in Spain so that I'm not more than 10Mtrs away, (Reinforced Concrete & solar glass 2010)
I bought 3 Apple Airports, 1 x Extreme and 2 x Express (1 as a hard wired AP, 1 as an extender) for my other house (Brick construction 1930's)
Everthing now works perfectly, as I said 'an apple plot', so either blast them with signal or visit your nearest apple store.
Early beta iOS5 (iPad) is also much inproved in Beta 3, I have not had any problem with 'Lion'

Time Machine backups only work after restart

Hi
Getting frustrated as Time Machine backups only work after a restart. Work for a few hours and then get stuck with Backing up: XXMB of XXGB. I have left it on this for many hours ie overnight without completion
I have a Mid 2014 MBP 13 in running 10.10.2
I backup onto an external USB via a hub.
Things I have tried with review of Pondini great site which has helped with different TM backup problems.
Disk permissions and repair of SSD on MBP (were errors but did not solve issue)
Direct USB connection
Backup via Airport Extreme
Re-index spotlight
Reformat USB disk
New USB disk!
Below is log (backupd filtered) of latest backup attempts including final completed occuring after restart.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:

The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

Wifi will only work temporarily.

Hello all. I just bought a new iPod Touch 4G last week and have had issues with the Wifi. My iPod recognizes my Network and can connect to the Internet with all blue bars and I can use and access the Internet for a few minutes and then when I lock my iPod and 5 minutes later I unlock it, when I go to Safari it gives me the message "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet." Oddly though when I access Google's home page it will connect. I use my laptop and it can connect to my Internet just fine and never loses the connect. I have tried resetting my network settings on my iPod but to no avail. I also reset my router and I turned it off for 30 seconds and back on. My main question for you all is: why can I connect to my Wifi connection and it have a full signal but yet it only works for a limited time?
Here are some details of my Wifi settings if any of you find this helpful:
IP Address is DHCP and it is 192.168.2.100
Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
Router is 192.168.2.1
DNS is 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.1
Search Domains and Client ID are blank.
HTTP Proxy is Off.
*I have renewed my lease and "forgot my network" and neither of those solved anything.*
*I am using my Wifi at my house in the same room as the router and my iPod still can't connect.*
*My security is WPA2-Personal. Encryption type is AES.*
*My router is an SMCWBR14S-N4*
I have heard people say when you lock the iPod it will disconnect from the network but that sounded absurd since how are you expected to receive instant sports updates and emails when the Wifi isn't connected?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. My operating system is 4.3.3. I didn't see it listed in the drop down box hence I decided to make note of that here.

Update your router with the latest firmware from the manufacturer which is available here: http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=viewProduct&localeCode=EN_USA&cid=1&scid=119& pid=1697
Note that when you enter a URL the browser will contact the DNS server to translate the symbolic URL address to a numeric address (for example "www.cnn.com" -> 157.166.255.19). If you can connect to Google when you are having this problem but nowhere else this points to a DNS problem in your network. Since your router is identified as your DNS server it may be having a problem in this area.

Thermocouple reading (w/ Built-in CJC Source) only works on random SCB channels

I am using LabVIEW 8.2.1, a PCI-6255 card, and an SCB-68 terminal block. I have a Type K thermocouple with a thermocouple calibrator which I am trying to measure. Here is the problem, first, using the attached VI, I have tried to read this TC using AI0. Everytime I use AI0 I get the error saying Built-In CJC is not available. When I use any other channel, this error disappears. The second problem, when I use a channel other than AI0, I am only able to successfully read the TC on random channels. For example, it only works on AI13 to AI15. For the channels that it does NOT work on, I am able to see the correct voltage through MAX, however the AI Read TC VI does not for some reason give an accurate reading.
Does anyone know why I would not be able to use AI0, and why I am only to use certain channels for this TC? This makes absolutley no sense and I have tried swapping the SCB, the DAC Card, and the cables. I have reinstalled drivers and LabVIEW also.
Please help this is driving me crazy!

Not sure if this helps you but...
Thermocouple reading are often differential measurements since they are typically very small values. To get differential readings two AI channels are paired up so half of the channels go away when you set things up for differential measurements. So could you double check the documentation for your device to ensure you are wiring the thermocoules properly? Correct pair, proper polarity, and proper TC type specified.

Can a monitor have a hardware problem so it only work on single resolution?

I have an Apple MultipleScan 1705 connected to a PowerMac 7100. No matters what version of MacOS I use, no matters if I install updated Apple Displays SOftware, it will only work at 832x624 , any other resolution, lower or higher, will mess the image -it will be distorted an you will "see the refresh"-.
I'm starting to think it is a monitor problem, but not sure. Any ideas?

There is only one combination of Red, Green, Blue, HSync, and VSync that will run a high quality monitor.
When you change the switches on your adapter, most of what you are doing is changing the wiring of pins 4, 7, and 10. These pins, and their connections with wires and diodes, are read by the Mac at startup to tell what family of genuine Apple displays is attached. (The code is like a promise that a certain display is being used.)
The Mac uses this information, read at startup, to decide what resolutions and refresh rate are valid for the display you said is attached. No others are provided by your Mac, because they might damage your display.
You have been focusing on the display as the likely source of the problem. I doubt that the display is the problem. The display is a slave. It takes the rows of dots given by the computer and attempts to paint them on the screen, and adjusts the frequency to match what the computer is sending if it can, and otherwise goes blank.
If you take that same "adapter" and cable, and connect it to the Apple display, I expect you will get similar good results.

How come the numeric keypad only works in log-in and not in normal progs?

I've searched this forum for all things numeric keypad related and come up blank on this problem so I'm putting this question out there for anyone else who knows the answer.
The numeric keypad on my iMacs only work it seems in typing in numbers in the password box at log-in, but in any other program, including Safari, I get nothing when I push those keys. Why is this and how can it be easily corrected with or preferably without the use of strange hacks if this is not some kind of missed setting? This one really bothers me. Why have a keypad at all if it isn't useful the majority of the time? I find the same problem on the Aluminum and plastic, wired, and wireless versions of the keyboard. If Apple didn't intend us to use the keypad in substitute for the number keys whenever we feel like it, wouldn't it make more sense to downsize the keyboards and sell them without one? The keypad only seems to work when set for use as a mouse-substitute, and nothing else.

It's strange that it doesn't work on my desktops, but it works fine on my MacBook (but of course I have to use the f(x) key to make it work on that because it isn't really a separate keypad).
Does anyone have any idea what settings under Tiger could cause the keypad not to function? It seems the problem is Tiger-related as the Leopard desktops don't exhibit the same problem.. Which keyboard is connected and by what method does not seem to make a difference.

I have an Iad2 and ever since ios6-there are issues.I get occasional lock-ups and have to reboot. The WSJ app freezes when running their videos to the end. The only work-around is to stop the video before it's over. Worse than windows me !!!!!

My Ipad2 worked perfectly before ios6 upgrade. It now freezes occasionally and I have to reboot to get it to work. Also the WSJ app will now freeze if I try and run one of their videos that is imbedded in the article. My only work-around is to stop (press done) before the end of the video or I have to do a total reboot. The problems remind me of Windows ME . Will Apple resolve these issues or become more like Microsoft. Hopefully there will be a restore button in the future like Microsoft was forced to do because a lot of upgrades are just terrible. Am I crazy or are there other people having the same issues with ios6, or could this just be a coincidence and my ipad2 is starting to fail just when ios6 arrives ?

I know this will not help but, the bluetooth headset I purchased for my wife works great and it pairs with our car and our sound bar in the livingroom (Motorola Droid Razr) 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US
However I did not upgrade over the air but from a android web site and placed it on my external sd card. I believe this made the difference in why we had no issues and upgraded functionality has been great.
Please note when I mention these bluetooth devices I mean the Razr connects with no problems.
It also had no internet issues and none of the problems others have complained about in other threads.
unfortunately when you say thousands have these issues I cannot say that is accurate. The hope is when large numbers of owners have updated to the Jelly Bean and are complaining inmase then Motorola will issue a patch to verizon to get out to the affected users.
Of course now that Google owns Motorola Mobility and has laid off loads of workers it may never issue an os patch.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

Hi since i updated to Mountain Lion, my Macbook pro 15" (december 2011) only works for 3 hours instead of 5 hours with Lion.
I've been waiting for 6 months now a release from Apple to fix this. Are you planning to do something for users like me?

When did you buy it?
Apple did not begin selling an unlocked version of the iPhone 4S in the US until 11/11/11. I believe it went on sale only through the online store at that time. I'm not sure if it's available at retail yet.
What you purchased was a phone without a contract commitment. It is still locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones for any reason. Return it and get your money back, then use that to purchase an unlocked phone.

Is it because the new itunes looks different.
